  • Is a colon cleanse actually beneficial? Here's what you should know: bit.ly/2Tisg1g
In this video, I am talking about how to naturally cleanse your colon as well as the best steps, foods and supplements you need to cleanse naturally.
Most cleanses today are fads that don’t work long term. I will teach you how to cleanse over several days as well as maintain this diet and lifestyle.
To work at its best, your colon needs no interference from foods that may block it from doing its job. The #1 step to follow is to eliminate processed and refined foods that will cause intestinal inflammation.
Top Foods for Cleansing Your Colon:
    1) Fermented Vegetables (sauerkraut and kimchi)
    2) Probiotic-rich foods (kefir, goats milk)
    3) Apples- Cleanse the colon with pectin
    4) Avocados- Fiber rich and contain potassium and magnesium- flush out toxins.
    5) Flax Seeds or Sprouted Flax (loaded with Omega 3 fatty acids)
    6) Triphala- Herb used in India and Asia as a tonic to support colon function
    7) Clean water! 8 glasses a day of pure, clean water
Suggestions for a week-long colon cleanse:
    • Breakfast- Superfood Smoothie
⁃ Collagen protein powder, apple, vegetables (celery and
    cucumber)
⁃ Tablespoon of flax meal and 1/2 avocado
    • Lunch- Superfood salad
    ⁃ Organic lettuce, tomatoes, avocado,
    ⁃ Apple Cider Vinegar
⁃ Tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
    • Dinner- Bone broth soup
    ⁃ Vegetables, chicken, chicken broth
    • Supplement- take probiotics (2 caps 2x a day)
Doing this, you will see great improvements in constipation and colon health.

Any advice, suffered 15 years with constipation. Took every supplements, did every type of enema, every laxative, did every diet, keto, carnivore, vegan. Ate tons of yogurt, sourcrat, vegetables, avocados, probiotics, prebiotics. Now going to the hospital in the morning. Great video, Dr. Josh! I stopped taking a protein shake for breakfast about a year ago because I noticed it was beginning to constipate me. I really love taking those shakes for breakfast as I know I have given my body all the required nutrients. Is it not wise to take those protein shakes for breakfast every day at age 74? I really miss them. I used to put raspberries/strawberries in them with my almond milk. I could start adding a banana. Any advice on this? Thank you

  • @jaynej9924
    @jaynej9924 6 років тому +3

Thankyou Dr Axe, I have got extremely constipated several times over last couple of years, including hospital admission. It typically takes 8 weeks to clear on macrogol (max dose for 1st week) and not eating properly for ages due to vomiting. I started this protocol after a two day bone broth fast with macrogol, and left the seed husk out of the smoothie. I took the macrogol in addition to this cleanse for the first two days at bedtime only, and here I am, less than a week from onset of an acute problem 'going fine', & constant pain gone. There's no feeling like relief from that kind of pain. Thanks so much for this video.
I also swapped out the superfood salad a couple of days for slow cooked meat and a variety of garden vegetables as I sometimes feel nauseated after several days of largely raw food.

Hi Dr Josh, I enjoy watching your highly informative videos. Thank you very much.
In this video, I found a funny pronunciation of Triphala. It is pronounced as: Tree Phala (T is pronounced softly and Ph is not pronounced as F but with heavy P sound) Tree is three, phal means fruit... so three fruits would be it’s literal meaning. It’s not just one herb but a combination of three herbs/fruits taken without seeds: Amalaki (Emblica officinalis), Bibhitaki (Terminalia bellirica), and Haritaki (Terminalia chebula).
Anyways, it is an amazing combination. Thanks.

Really enjoy your videos. Am a firm believer that what you eat is what you become. Garbage in => Garbage out. Lots of ailments prevail just because of heavy consumption of processed food. Anything which occurs in nature has to be good for you. Processing not only kills food value but I feel that the body thoroughly gets confused in processing it and most of it anyways ends up getting stored as fat. Am from India and yes Triphala is big for us. It is pronounced as tree-pha-laa. : ). For us, this is the holy grail of digestion.

Great video Dr Axe, but what if one's vegan? That rules out bone broth and dairy. Anything else you could recommend instead? Also: Are tofu and related pre-made vegan products (such as Gardein vegan chicken, fish and such) considered "processed foods" to stay away from? Thanks for your answers in advance!

I always get my kimchi (spicy fermented napa cabbage) by the gallons at oriental markets for very reasonable prices. It’s so yummy, I never get tired of eating it, no wonder it has been declared the best dish in the world.

I can only get triphala manufacturered ftom India and really concerned about their quality control and possibly getting sick from containment from over seas. Do you know triphala made in the USA?

Is it ok to mix veggies and fruits in the same smoothie? I read that we shouldn't mix them because they ferment, can you make a video about it? Thank you
