Gathering a LAND ROVER CONVOY for an expedition to ALASKA (EP 26 - World Tour)

Last week we finished our tour of the #canadianrockies. We loved our time there and will keep amazing memories of the #grizzly we saw there. This week we head to #princegeorge #britishcolumbia to prepare our upcoming expedition to #Alaska, all the way up north to #prudhoebay. Before the drive we have quite a bit of work to get our #landrover #defender Albatross ready for the road. As we work on the preparations, we get a really bad surprise that might prevent us from leaving to Alaska. We are not great #mechanics but we get our hands dirty this time to try to fix the issue. Travelling with a #landroverdefender is a steep learning curve. After that we meet up with two other travellers and their Defender: @touring_tom and @evazubeck. We are not going to travel alone all the way up north and are very excited to meet with them. Together get to know each other and plan the itinerary. Next week we all leave to the gate of Alaska! Eva, I thought you wanted to experience the adventure by yourself shared with Vilk ? Part of the adventure is the unknown and testing yourself against the environment and elements...... I have driven that route multiple times by myself many times and each trip has offered personal challenges that made me go in ways I did not expect.

Hi Nick, Matilde and Albatross! Ever since I saw you AND Eva's adventures converging together, I wondered if there was going to be a UA-cam crossover event with her! And when I saw this episode titled Land Rover Convoy, I KNEW she, Vilk and Odessey were going to be part of it! I guess this is the one where YT started suggesting the videos to me, and after repeated nudges I was like "right, lets see what's going on, but I'm going back to the start". I'm glad I did, and it seems YT knows what I like. I do follow many world travellers, especially doing the Pan-Am, "The Stans", Africa and Australia with a 4x4 bias although many vanlifers too. I couldn't sleep, so I got an extra episode in tonight.
Great to see you meet up with Vilk and Eva, but also sad that I'll soon have to wait for weekly episodes having enjoyed binge watching to get up to date.
You went through them super fast!! Hope you enjoyed them and yeah you’ll have to week for weekly episodes but they’ll be worth it :) there are some random episodes mid week talking about other subjects which may be interesting. Those coke un-announced.

Ma il plus della scelta è quello di avere con voi Eva Zubeck, una ragazza straordinaria, nata come voi per viaggiare. La seguo da più di due anni e credo che non potevate trovare persona migliore per dividere quella che certamente sarà una delle più affascinanti esperienze del viaggio e... di vita.

If your UJ ever fails again if you are not close to a garage to repair it,remove the prop shaft and put your transmission into diff lock,and you will be able to drive to where you can have it repaired,

Nooooooo….. when you put a new u joint in, you should really clean everything. The rust will work its way back into the roller bearings. I usually coat the joints in an anitrust paint. Also, if the fail, you can still drive on them.
Ahh didn’t know… they seem to always be dried up :/
@@NextMeridianExpedition they are. But, unless they fall off, they’ll transfer the power to the drive train. Rust is the enemy. Anyways, tell EVA hi for me. You guys stay safe.
hope you've been greasing your props with a shot every month or the uj`s will very quickly deteriorate in your conditions and not easy repaired on the road side

It really depends, sometimes we meet them randomly sometime we put a message on Facebook group or contact Overlanders directly on Instagram

No!!!! We saw exactly 2 ! And they were clearly dying. In September it seems to be too cold for them
What radios are you using ?
We have a CB radio in the car, forgot the brand. And have 2 hand held radios from Amazon which I handed over to Eva.

You left Alaska just in time, we have snow on the ground here in Fairbanks now and it will likely remain until April. Safe travels to you both as you head south and then on to OZ.......
