General tip: there's a shortcut button (H?) that you can press while hovering over an item in your inventory that opens that specific item's handbook entry. Saves you from typing in names.
Really enjoying the series. Keep it up!

the sea shells are just for collections. they just look pretty, and can be set on a surface.
that structure of cobblestone you found has pots inside, so open it up!
Remember you have to save food for the winter!!! get into preservation
you can also increase the action speed for tools, so it takes less time to do things with them. it's healthy for your wrists.

Making hides into pelts is a good idea early game if you pick the default temperate-climate start, because the winter will be cold at that latitude and pelts are useful for making warm clothes.
For farming, for best results you want every block to be adjacent to water, so one block of water in the middle of each 3x3 section. Some vegetables attract animals and will get eaten, so you might want to look into the crude fencing and crude gate. (Also the crude door, which is a lot more convenient than sealing yourself in with dirt.)

It's beneficial to stack the firewood on the ground in your hut so you don't have to carry it around. Save room for all that food you are leaving on the ground... lol :)

This is like a heavily modded Minecraft at first glance, but then the depth and terrain generation start setting it apart. I really enjoy it, might even grab this one!

Put the fat and the hide in your crafting grid to create a pelt.

Probably pointless giving tips on a 2 week old video in a play through series but... While cattail roots are good in a pinch for food they do grow back if you leave the roots, it's best to plant them for early game to harvest periodically as they are useful in a lot of different crafts so you do not want to deplete them in your vicinity. You can store all manner of items physically on the ground (firewood, pelts, cooking utensils etc) or against walls (tools) to free up inventory space before you even have any kind of storage. You're camped right next to a bunch of clay which should be your next step for clayforming as your progress is contingent on that as a next step. Cntrl+H on most things in your inv will show you how it can be used in crafting and you can explore the crafting trees that way instead of the enormous list or searching when you don't know what you need to search for. Torches can be lit on a lit fire by crouching and holding right mouse or you can put them on the ground and light them with a fire starter or other lit torches. For hunting, craft 3 or 4 spears so you can properly track an animal without having to retrieve spears in between each shot. Tip of the iceberg my friend.
Also quartz is for glass not sand in this game and your map is on false colour setting. It's a world setting that you have to set on world creation but there is a command to change it to true colour.

      I did notice :D
And I appreciate you very much. i have learned a lot from you!
It is always very fun to find a game with an enthusiactic community and VS definately qualifies.
I am having a blast with VS and I find myself recording three or four episodes at a time because I just want to keep playing.
I play a lot of different games on the channel, but there are a select few that I always keep in the lineup... I think Vintage Story is in that group now :)
      Thanks again 🙏

@@hardwaredespair Glad you're enjoying the game. When you get into chiselling, it's amazing what you can create. so much fun. Few games you may like since you're into VS are Ostranauts, Project Zomboid and Space Engineers. Very different games but I think they scratch that same itch. Looking forward to the next instalment!
