you need a tool to sift through the bony soil. it's pretty slow and laborious process, but it can drop pretty useful stuff. about your garden, the last stage of growth is for multiple seeds, at the penultimate you get the product + 1 seed back. you're not nearly worried enough about food for winter, game will be sparse, and there'll be no berries or farm growth. now that you're gathering more, you should try and start saving some food in jars and seal them.
Congratulations on the start of your soon-to-be fancy new house. :D To help navigation to more distant points, if you right-click on a map marker and "pin" it, it will remain visible at the edge of the minimap even when it is off-screen. This makes it harder to quickly tell how far away a marker is, but much easier to tell direction. Cooking recipes are only listed in the meal-making guide, unfortunately. Meat and carrots is a viable combination, you just need to make sure you have the same number of items in each slot (or leave the slot empty). You can break "boulders" (that look like small piles of rocks) with your bare hands to get multiple rocks. Rot can be converted into compost (fertlizer) once you have planks to make barrels, but it's not at all a priority so feel free to throw it away.
I found your playyhrough yesterday, and it's probably the best of I've seen. I have no idea what happens in the future, but please continue this game as long as you can.
Rot can be sealed in barrels to turn into compost which can fertilise your crops or be used to craft terra preta which is the best soil for crop growth. Even better that high fertility soil. You can continue to just break stuff after kilning, bowls on ground etc (and some things you have to because of a bug) but mostly you can just pick them up direct to inv. by right clicking. Your meal didn't cook because it was an invalid meal. You need two of one thing and then the next two slots have to be different things. It will always tell you what the resulting cook will give you, if it stays blank, the meal combo is invalid. So you could have meat-meat-berry but not meat-meat-berry-berry. You could also go meat-meat-carrot-berry I'm pretty sure. Also worth noting that as you vary your diet, your hit points get higher. You can see your saturation in different food groups in the character armour screen.
Hey Ryan! me again, just a quick tip, in order to make a full cobblestone block out of any small stones, put 8 in a O shape leaving the middle empty exactly the same as you make a chest in minecraft, then put some clay in the middle of that, and you get 2 full cobble blocks :D Don't know if you know this or not by now, you probably do, since this is a 2 month old video but i thought i would let you know in case!
@hardwaredespair oh there's going to be an update. I didn't know. Sorry slow catching up on your videos. Been watching when cooking if I'm not interrupted 🤣
Yes, 1.20 is coming soon. No set date yet, but I've heard it will prob be before the end of the year 🤞 They are adding mounts, new boats, big changes to clay, and much more!

When cooking, the number of items have to be the same, like the first 2 items are meat, 4 each, the next 2 items are veg, 4 each, not 5 and 6.
