I can't do stuff like this because I always prefer to roleplay. I make 4 separate buildings like a little village and then when I get progressed enough to have excess labour I start building paved roads.

Hi Ryan, thanks for another awesome video. I joined quite late so was too far behind to comment during the stream. You absolutely can kick an addiction in this game, it just takes a lot of will power to never drink/smoke again (just like real life I guess 😛). Obviously its easier when your happiness is high. Really hope you can manage to kick at least one of your addictions. Not sure, but it may be harder for the Veteran to kick addictions though. Watching your recent episodes inspired me to go back to my game of Change. I had forgotten I had gone for a super long run, where I just wanted to see how much I could earn. When I reloaded the save I had a job as a construction worker paying around £8.50 an hour (because of perks and job buffs, etc). I also had around £800 in the bank and like all the items possible lol. I just took £150 out and finished that run by renting a place. I then started and finished a run in one day with a Mental Illness start, with 0 hygiene and only 10 satiation to increase the XP. I also selected the Just you and Me scenario where you start with a Dog, but their food decreases much more slowly. I wanted to keep going because I got super lucky with getting a shelter right next to a job centre and really close to a library and WC. There were also 3 shops quite nearby and the park was also relatively close. I got super lucky and the first time I went to the park with the dog there was a random event where the Dog came back with a Ball it had found! (Or maybe I misremember and the event was during a sleep on the streets, it was definitely one of those two though 😛). It did take me the better part of the whole day to finish, but I wanted to get it all done because as you said, the city can get all jumbled up when you reload a game, as well as if you move to a different area or get moved on my the Police. That was a great run, very fun to watch! A couple things I would point out: I don't believe you had the relic bracelet equiped, you had it in your hand (where you can hold any item) and not in the arm where it would give you the bonuses. Also be sure to check the penetration of the weapons you are using, usually the higher the better, they are represented by an arrow when you inspect, I believe you were using lower tier equipment while having a nice carbide axe sitting on the inventory. Lastly, you were really unlucky to have a templar spawn at the entrance of golgotha, they can appear anywhere, but they certainly were a lot harder than anything inside golgotha, nice going escaping them!

Although it wouldn't have made a difference this time to your cataclysm roll pulling the nature pip before the turn end added +3 to your threat instead of +1. In exchange you got only got an extra carrot. The later the game goes the more punishing it is to do that kind of play

It's not a true roguelike, though. The original didn't have any kind of meta progression. You just lost everything every time. No unlocks, no new charakters. The meta progression is more of a modern take to keep long time motivation up.

Nice. I can tell that a lot of work went into this project. What I didn't understand was all the electric requirements as I'm pretty sure that it weren't a thing back in the day ;)

Most tinkerers can identify items for a fee Argyve for example. In the trade interface I believe the default hotkey to bring more functions is space and that allows you to identify items you own. The auto explore function might help you find the staircase down, it will dig automatically towards areas that are unexplored. I also like to hit backspace once when auto explore is done in a square to see anything I might have missed. For your waterskin problem the general strategy is to buy more valuable trade goods to make you more weight efficient, silt usually has a jeweler from whom you can buy gemstones and convert your water to less weight.

You walked right past the corpse of the dead father in the "unfortunate hunting trip" start. It's by a pine tree west of your starting square. It's my favorite start because it just doubles the starting gear (although the father's clothes are usually damaged) so you can generally make gloves, add extra clothes, start with double food so it's easier to search for a good starting camp, and the extra tools give you some trade stock when you find a village.

One thing I learned early on is that manually thrusting when trying to pick up ore is very inefficient compared to just using the autopilot. The autopilot will never turn you away from your target, and manually thrusting disables autopilot (which is essentially the state of having something targeted), so you don't need to re-target the rock every time you thrust since autopilot just does it for you while keeping the target locked. To use the autopilot for this, just click and drag the direction you want to move relative to the rock, and to go faster just drag "past" the target further. If you're drifting too far off in a perpendicular direction, just drag the opposite way until you get a perfectly straight orientation. Also, I believe that holding F will simply target whatever you're pointing at (since targeting something is the same thing is engaging autopilot on it, that's why it say autopilot in the settings).

YEAHHH ELECTRICITY. son, I forgot to tell you about that. there's a gear mod called 'jacked' that turrets have/you can learn but I've never seen it for sale. you can self-power jacked stuff like guns/night vision goggles/etc. until you get something really rigged like a phase cannon. truekins have something similar that stacks with this (if a glowmoth gives you it. gl), and the comparison is like geothermal generator vs. wind turbine+batteries. also, get long blade eventually with dueling stance so you can disarm turrets and steal jacked rifles/swarm racks. its bretty fun

Watching you miss your wellfare for the most dumbass reasons is actually hurting me physically. Great gameplay though

A shame your colony went down at the end. Beating this thing absolutely requires adequate time to prepare before venturing out, having enough of a defense to protect your colony from the entity counter attacks, and taking the time to repair and heal between void structure activations, all without access to sunlight. I actually had constructoids building a "bridge" of floodlights, but as they got further from the colony, I started running into problems, such as entities attacking them, or destroying a random floodlight. That, and accidentally drawing the attention of the metalhorrors surrounding the last void structure before I was ready. The last entity that you weren't able to see is basically the void archotech itself. If you manage to get to the monolith after activating all of the void structures, then activate the Monolith, a colonist gets teleported into the Void, and you see the archotech and the nodes powering it, and giving it access to your universe. That was the only thing left for you, seeing the source of all the monsters.

Oh my lord, that's 10x worse than what I got. I play on Adventure Story difficulty so I don't have to min/max wealth or build killboxes, and it was already brutal... but this 25:45 ... this is terrifying

great game, love the positivity throughout the run. The game has a pretty strong message/reality check to the player, great choice.

I'm a few episodes behind so maybe you've figured this out already, but those antennae are apparently a possible variant of "face" so you should be able to wear all the same face equipment on that slot. Sadly, something else I learned is that when you have multiples of the same type of body part, the armour and dodge values are averaged (respectively) so you need to equip multiple copies to keep up 😔
