Then Tesla will win it and a big smile will apear on driver face, that is the point. BTW. Who would have thought back in 2000 that 20+ years in the future two car companies from California would be making fully electric cars that would absolutely destroy (almost comically) what was at the time a devastatingly fast car. What a world we live in.

Finally, we get to experience (vicariously) what Tesla Plaid acceleration is all about. Thanks.
I always loved that M5. I wasn't sure if any manufacturer would even ATTEMPT to make a faster sedan. I definitely didn't expect that it would be destroyed by such an enormous margin. The future is weird.
But how about comparing the current BMW M5 CS against the by Tesla promoted Plaid here, over the course of a 10 lap circuit race? Would that not be the true definition of the worlds fastest sedan? :) Yes, Hagerty this would be the right definition, and you (my friend) know it.
@Rainers Ralfs Skersts Well, if that's the case. Why don't we see Tesla fanboys challenging a brand new M5 CS for a few rounds around the track :)
well back then, there was a lot of Japanese manufacturer like Mitsubishi and Subaru with their rally cars to compete with M5, also don't forget Merc AMG and Audi with their RS cars
@Rainers Ralfs Skersts The M5 CS did the Nürburgring in 7 minutes 29 seconds, the Tesla plaid did it in 7 minutes 30, so super close, but the BMW is a bit faster on (at least this 1) track. There are other sedans that have done faster laps, but they were pretty heavily modified.
@Rainers Ralfs Skersts Oh, for sure. When the times are that close, anything could tip the lap time either direction.
I don't know if this is a Drag Race or a South Park episode 😅
But still, Good Job !

Just saw a Lucid on the highway the other day (going the opposite direction), and damn it's really eye-catching!
This is really a surprise to see how an E39 M5 22 years ago still plays a significant role model to sedans and the meaning of a driving machine for todays standards, plus it looks way better than both in every way.
Cap on a stack. The M5 looks great but the other two look equally good in their own way. I'm not biased against BMW either I own one.

Omg that Tesla passing the M5 like a bullet is absolutely mind blowing, I have driven the M5 it's a fast car trust me seeing it obliterated like this is like comparing a jet to a family sedan.

Tesla is a realy quick but it is not race car it's just quick daily, realy quick😅 I think more than 90% owners will not take it for racing on the track but for kicking it down when some "fast drivers" want to race on the road. Then Tesla will win it and a big smile will apear on driver face, that is the point.
BTW.
On the track even new M5 will lose vs real track car 🤷♂️ We need to compare M5 to daily because M5 and Tesla just are daily, not racing cars so I think this wideo make it realy fair - Fast sedan vs Fast sedan
@@anoniem9518 You just can't help yourself from moving the goalpost everytime.
@@anoniem9518 So what’s next when the Roadster has claimed that one as well? What are you gonna come up with? Racing until both run out of energy, because *thats* of course the correct „definition“? That you guys can still take yourselves serious is entertainment on another level.
Yet the 2022 M% CS obliterates the Tesla Plaid by 6 seconds on the Nurburgring race track, and the AMG GT 4 door is even 10 seconds faster than the Plaid.
This is the most Top Gear you've ever been with your challenges. (I'd still have the M5 btw- the intangibles outweigh the clinical speed)

The thud of the "skydiver" into the ground was epically funny and macabre. I snorted my coffee out. In my opinion the driver involvement and sound of the E39 M5 makes it infinitely more fun to drive than either of the electric sedans.

I want to see a modified Tesla in group 4 of track masters, NCRC, or any DE events. This is a DE event class that is all out race with no price, just pure driving skills with chains of chicane and tight corners.
@ReideenHAWK
Really? I know they went to Laguna Seca but I hadn't heard of Lucid doing a lap at the Nurburgring. Can't seem to find it anywhere online either.
@@a.banana Nürburgring : 4door Mercedes AMG GT beats the Plaid by 10 seconds, 2022 M5 CS beats the Plaid by 6 seconds, the Alfa Giulia QV beats the Plaid by 3 seconds, the new RS3 does the same time as he Plaid for half the price.
@@THEREALZENFORCE
Manufacturers typically post 2 lap times at the Nurburgring, one time in the 12.9 mile configuration and another in the 12.8 mile one. The difference is that in the 12.8 mile version, the finish and start line are seperated, so a small part of the track is not driven in the lap time.
The comparison you've done uses the 12.9 mile lap time from the Plaid and compares it to the 12.8 mile lap times from other cars. Here's what the lap times look like using the 12.8 mile configuration.
Alfa Romeo Giulia: 7:32
Model S Plaid: 7:30
BMW M5 CS: 7:29
AMG GT 4-door: 7:23
I couldn't find the 12.8 mile lap time for the 2022 Audi RS3, but in its 12.9 mile lap time it did a 7:40, which is 5s slower than the 7:35 the Plaid did in it's 12.9 mile lap time.
