GV60 is only one here with rimac's 800V architecture, just like Porsche and Performance Audi.. it's technologically superior to BMW and Ford Mustang when you look at re-gen figures, charging speed and temp/voltage control... I can't believe I'd ever see a day I'd say that... and it's not even at the limit of the architecture, EV GT6/Ioniq 5 N is coming with higher output and unlike other EV's they expect the car to do full lap around nurburgring without battery pack overheating (thanks to 800v system), a feat which Tesla Plaid and M3P can't do.... and you gotta go to 100k + EV like Taycan or Etron GT to achieve As a Korean I just want to say this- Korea numba 1 🇰🇷🇰🇷
Genesis is really impressive in every aspect besides the Hyundai dealership image and experience. The current BMW EVs are still on CLAR, their existing architecture for ICEs, but they will be on new platforms designed for EVs starting 2025. So, expect them to catch up if not jump ahead of the competition by then. Good luck to the flailing software company (Tesla) now that the real automakers are serious about making EVs.
Yeah the Tesla Plaid has the 2nd fastest production EV time with an overheated battery right? The only reason it is second fastest is because Porsche a slightly modified Taycan wearing Pirelli P Zero's less than a month ago.. Also the Plaid was limited to 163 mph and not running P Zero's.. And the 800V architecture means nothing when the Porsche Taycan Turbo S had it's ass handed to it 4 times in a row in by the Model 3 in the Japanese EV race series..
@@revaddict Well Japan EV series, Taycan was running a faster laptime by 2 seconds in all the races and only had issue after 5-6 laps while being stock, Model 3 P had extensive modification for cooling. (Also 1-2 second difference for 1 model 3, other model 3Ps were least 5-6 seconds lower than Taycan) 5-6 laps in fuji is around 1.5 laps in nurburgring and basically a session in regular trackday. Also, after the mid 21' patch, stock M3 P would only have around 3-6min full attack capability on track before going into battery protection mode, so 15-20min in Taycan is marginally better, despite this being their first EV model, thanks to 800V architecture. Also, what's the point of being 2nd fastest EV when you overheat in the middle of the lap? It just shows that performance is not repeatable. I'm just saying, Porsche/Hyundai charges battery faster, has higher regen, and overheats less quickly despite spending significantly less R&D and having less EV development exprience due to 800V system.
@@revaddict The Plaid time was set with a modified car. You can see from the onboard video that the driver was lifting at parts. Could have been to keep the battery pack or brakes from overheating, or both. I'm not sure what your point is besides blindly defending Tesla. Neither car is perfect, but Teslas definitely have overheating problems. Just compare 0-60 or 1/4 mile time dropoffs after just 2 or 3 runs for any Tesla vs a Taycan.
Thank you for another great video! --- 1. It's the GV60 Performance. 2. The GV60 Performance starts at $68k vs. $57k for the Model Y Performance. 3. GV60 Performance has 235-mile range vs 303 for the Model Y Performance. Can't be sure, but considering Genesis is Hyundai's you can assume that the battery will have similar performance to Hyundai EV batteries in the cold: -20%+ vs. -15% (verified) for Model Y. Higher price, lower range, similar acceleration performance. Nope, still not able to compete with Tesla.
hyundai was poor man's car brand, but now with the new EV revolution, they have a very good chance to be the real luxury brand that also has one of the best performance/quality.

You have Jason. All of that is meant as a compliment. Love your stuff man. Thanks for brightening my day.
I got to check out the GV60 when my brother had it a couple months back for his channel. That thing is insanely fast for a practical, daily driver (or most anything for that matter).
It’s amazing how far Hyundai has come in just a few years. From something of a joke 40 years ago to a so-so brand 20 years ago to truly world class today. The Genesis keeps up with Tesla’s amazing engineering while surpassing it in terms of building a complete car with first rate build quality and creature comforts.
I love the way the BMW looks. The boxy front end gives it a nice stance. Anyways, I don't care about speed. Give me something that is fun to drive and make great noises. My favorite car that I ever owned is a 2000 Civic Si. 1.6l 160 hp, 8000rpm (8200 cutoff), under 2700lbs, 5 speed short gearing (3rd gear 88mph) no abs, no traction control, great handling and VTEC KICKED IN YO. A non obnoxious exhaust and a cold air intake made all the right noises. It gave the sensation of speed without actually going fast. Same with my non turbo RX7 FC, around 150hp RWD manual. The rotary sang. We're all too lost in this speed war. Look at Camissa, he drives a e30 wagon, a Rabbit, and 190E 2.3 16, neither are what you would call fast, but I'll bet my life they're more fun to drive than anyone of these EVs.
Kudos to Hyundai/Kia/Genesis for embarrassing the Germans yet again as they’ve done so many times before even around the famous Ring. And that’s even before you factor in the huge cost to keep most anything German on the road once the warranty expires. And kudos to the Koreans for challenging even Tesla. One has to wonder what happens when say Honda catches up in this EV performance game?
If you repeat the same race several times, the performance of Tesla and gv60 will be clearly visible. I think the cooling system and stability of the gv60 battery would be better.

GV60 is only one here with rimac's 800V architecture, just like Porsche and Performance Audi.. it's technologically superior to BMW and Ford Mustang when you look at re-gen figures, charging speed and temp/voltage control... I can't believe I'd ever see a day I'd say that... and it's not even at the limit of the architecture, EV GT6/Ioniq 5 N is coming with higher output and unlike other EV's they expect the car to do full lap around nurburgring without battery pack overheating (thanks to 800v system), a feat which Tesla Plaid and M3P can't do.... and you gotta go to 100k + EV like Taycan or Etron GT to achieve
As a Korean I just want to say this- Korea numba 1 🇰🇷🇰🇷
Technically the plaid battery can go a full lap, just the cast iron rotors can’t keep up.
Genesis is great looking! Wish it was 6000lbs GVWR!
Jason these videos are phenomenal…please bring more🔥🔥🔥
Wow....that GV60 was impressive! This EV just moved to the top of my list. Love everything about it from the size, style, interior, and performance.
There are reasons why your videos win awards. This is so great! A Hyundai beating everyone? Holy smokes!
Some of the best automotive content on UA-cam right now
Wow! GV60 is the champion.... amazing EV.
What a lovely way to describe. We adore your content and will try to recreate it in the future.
Jason You're just wow.
The BMW, doesn't need a grill, so why on why would they choose to do that? 🤢🤮
I see Cammisa in the title I click, no questions asked, and always... Happy
Jason,
You are awesome, you guys make the best videos ever. I'm a true fan!
PRO-DUC-TION! One of the best car videos I have seen. Hagerty media gets a big 👍
Can't wait for the EV6 GT and IONIQ5 N. They are really making wonderful cars nowadays.
Thank you for another great video!

Never knew genesis ev was this fast
This is the only channel where I like the video before I watch
hyundai was poor man's car brand, but now with the new EV revolution, they have a very good chance to be the real luxury brand that also has one of the best performance/quality.
My model Y runs an 11.8 qtr mile. The model Y in this video has to be down to 60% SOC to be running at that time. We need more transparency in these videos that include SOC. FYI
The best automotive content available is put out by an insurance company, crazy. That said I get excited everytime there is a notification of more vids, excellent work.
it is mind blowing the level of production quality of this channel
I don’t even comprehend how it is possible to add Camisa on top of a slow mo close up of the cars - anybody know?
Well done Genesis!
I am currently living in Korea. The Genesis GV60 is expensive, but it's a car that everyone wants.
I think the current number one among all electric vehicles is EV6 GT and then GV60.
Recently, Hyundai & KIA Insane
Jason I was so happy to see you in my UA-cam feed today. Absolutely love your style of presenting. I have tried to describe to a friend and the best I could come up with was as follows. ( lets say you took James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson Mashed them into one person then dumped a pot of coffee down there throat with a six pack of red bull for a chaser, finish it off with a Xanax to level off your creation.....and Bammmmmm... You have Jason. All of that is meant as a compliment. Love your stuff man. Thanks for brightening my day.
He's literally the best car journalists out there
Not only informative but also high quality production . Very nice video made. Really enjoy to watch it . Good job.
my model y runs high 11s all day at 116mph
I just love your videos more than any comment can convey! Please keep up the great work!👍👍👍
I got to check out the GV60 when my brother had it a couple months back for his channel.
Amazing what Genesis has managed to accomplish on such a short time. I own a 2022 Genesis G70 and that little rocket rips. Love everything about it.
Still a Hyundai 😂😂😂

Look at Camissa, he drives a e30 wagon, a Rabbit, and 190E 2.3 16, neither are what you would call fast, but I'll bet my life they're more fun to drive than anyone of these EVs.
damn that genesis is fast AF
Epic, or should I say Electrifying!
Times must be really tough, that Adam Sandler resorted to doing phone tech support for Hagerty.
Moms are gonna be crushing people at stoplight drag racing
Genesis has enter the automotive world and in less than 10 years made themselves true competitors
I'm impressed with Genesis. I can't wait for Hyundai N Vision 74. I love it!
High volt system with SiC chips and high power battery are the enabler for such performance.
Thank you for doing this test! Super amazing what Genesis did!
If you repeat the same race several times, the performance of Tesla and gv60 will be clearly visible. I think the cooling system and stability of the gv60 battery would be better.
I liked this video before even watching it , It shows how great your videos are. Keep up the great work!
That corvette sounds 🔥🔥🔥
Woohoo! New Cammisa! I live for these videos.
Genesis is hyundai's premium brand like lexus. The inner design of genesis is really stunning. I recommend to you beige color for inner side. Each meterial of Genesis is really high quality.

It’s weird that the MYP is so slow, it should do low 12s in many other tests....
Yes very quite the coincidence that this is the slowest quarter mile by a model y performance from any reviewer and in just the perfect amount to be slightly slower than the car they are being paid to promote.
The GV 60 better built than any Tesla, +400lbs heavier and still wins. I know what I'd buy. The Vette did far better than i expected, damn I'd love to see an AWD version of the new Vette.
