Buying one new is absolutely a horrific idea because depreciation, it's gonna cost you more than just about any car except a Maserati But a used one for 40k, absolute steal, sucks for the guy who paid like 150k to buy it new back then, great for teenagers who financed something they absolutely cannot afford. At least a new one is only 90-110k (+20k for working brakes), but it's still gonna be worth less than half that in a year. Honestly just about all EVs are depreciation sinks, the only ones I would honestly consider is a 5 year old model S or new base Lucid Air Pure. 400hp at the rear wheels sounds great.

The battery is only conditioned for 1/4 mile runs in Dragstrip mode so power is reduced after 10 seconds. The exact language is as follows, located on page 16 in the Sapphire Track Manual: "The DRAGSTRIP profile optimizes the battery pack temperature and cools the drive units to ensure that the system is ready to output full power for short (up to ten seconds) bursts of acceleration. The DRAGSTRIP profile is the default when entering TRACK Mode. It wouldn't matter against the Nevera, but I'd like to see what kind of time difference running it in Sapphire mode, as recommended, would yield.
And it was catching the Sapphire on the top end too😅 The last rolling race prove it,, Sapphire won on 0-150/160 but PLAID little bit faster after that,, But the NEVERA on different level of this two😂

NOW we have a proper comparison between the Lucid Air Sapphire and the Tesla Model S Plaid with Track Pack. The first drag race and the rolling race were perfect. Next, the comparison between the Rimac Nevera R and the Lotus Evija would be absolute madness. Also a drag race up to half mile and then a rolling race.
@@cuprashoe For a track test, I would come up with other cars than the Rimac and the Lotus 😅 For example, the McLaren W1 against the Ferrari F80, whereby a drag race and a rolling race between the two cars would also be very interesting. As soon as the successor to the 918 Spyder 2027/28 is released, the version with the Weissach package should definitely compete against the McLaren and the Ferrari. In terms of the Nevera R and the Evija, it should definitely be a drag race and rolling race.
I'd love to see Nevera vs Evija...but does the Evija even exist? One launched into the hay bales at Goodwood this year, but apart from that there's been no news, no sightings, nothing from Lotus. That crash is the most exciting thing to ever happen with that car

Tire technology is still playing catchup with the instant torque electric motors can produce. That is why programming is needed to limit power at lower speeds.
Plaid fan. Still super impressive! Truly awesome it was coming back on the Lucid above 150! Sapphire is unreal…but it should be at 2.5X the price. But the best 250K you can spend on performance. Plaid plus needs to happen.
The plaid costs 109k as tested, plus 20k for the track package Plus I believe this youtuber specifically bought a new even lighter magnesium or something wheel set, I don't think he told us the price but Porsche sells them for 20k, so probably at least 10-15 k from aftermarket vendors. So all in all, 109+20+10?= 139k Do some math, 250÷139= 1.79 So it's 79% more money for a few 0.2 or whatever second 0-60 This Tesla "package" would also give you 2 extra sets of wheels and 1 extra set of tyres. Wish they just let you add the track package from factory, would be cheaper that way. The sapphire is fully loaded at 249,900, so there's that at least, Porsches can double in price with options. I'm not sure what this youtuber didn't get in his Tesla, fully loaded is 110k, so he must have gotten a slightly cheaper color or something.
@@notfunny3397the Plaid is 90K even, track pack is 20K. 110K. Lighter wheels won’t make a bit of difference past 30 mph. And let’s not forget the non track pack will do the same performance up to 160 and as quick as the lighter wheel version with the stock 19s….for 90K
@twothbeave lighter wheels are useful for waayy more than just low end acceleration, it's both rotational mass and unsprung weight Just saying. It's not about the purchase price, it's about the price of ownership A Porsche 911 GT3 RS is way cheaper to own than Maserati gran turismo for example because the Maserati depreciates way faster. After you buy a 200k 911, you will still have a 160k in 3 years, if you buy a Maserati for 200k, you will have a 100k Maserati in 3 years. The Maserati costs twice as much. Someone who bought a plaid for 150k 2021, now has to sell it for 40-60k, a loss of 90-110k It cost them 3x what a Porsche 911 would have. No amount of fuel savings is gonna offset that. If you're gonna own the car forever, it's not a problem, except with an EV, the battery dies at some point. A 3 year old plaid for 40k is a good deal however. Honestly if the plaid was also a good luxury car like a lucid air, then it would be decent. A new lucid air pure or touring for around 70-78k is a better fit for most people honestly. It only has 3 second or whatever 0-60, but you're in luxury car so who cares. In a plaid, you have to deal with the rickety steering wheel lol

What i don't understand is that the more power the cars have , the poorer they get off the line :i have a tesla s plaid and a tesla s p100d, both in 19 inches , and i can feel that the first 20 m from the launch , the acceleration is better on the s p100d. And the 19 inch s p 90 d from my father seems even one tick better on these first 20 m than the s p 100 d .The tesla official graphic from the presentation of the s plaid vs the precedent cars (s p 100d) shows that better initial acceleration too (and mesured launches head to head on UA-cam too). After these 20 m, of course , it's another story 😊.
@robin_granger8838 Even with EV's and high horsepower, traction and putting all that power to the ground is still a challenge. Tire technology is still trying to address the weight of EV's ON TOP of being able to efficiently put all that power to the ground from electric motors.
@t_q1799 so you're saying you would be absolutely ok if you had paid $250,000 for a Lucid and can only beat a Tesla (that is $150,000 cheaper) by a car length over a 1/2 mile? Yeah ok. So price is a valid topic for hardly any difference.

That Tesla Plaid is an outstanding supercar bargain. You can do 9 second quarter mile runs and 180+ mph half miles in the morning, then pickup groceries and the kids afterwards. For around $130,000 with the Track Pack, I would buy this car.
I get it but think about it. Why pay for a track pack to do DD duties? The Plaid itself is overkill as a DD but for other reasons than you can why pony up 20 extra grand for top speed you'll never see and high end brakes that'll never be needed. I'm seriously looking just to get the long range because even though I've driven the Plaid multiple times on the street, Plaid mode is too reactionary and quick for the street. Sport mode is much better but it's still quick too.
@@ChosenMJAgree, ngl I think that it’s quite easy to crash it on the streets due to the insane acceleration. The brakes are great, of course, but the human reaction is not ready for such high speeds anywhere else except the dragstip, unless you are driving at 4 in the morning with nowhere traffic. So I agree with you, LR will be better even for people that want the crazy acceleration. It will still be incredibly fast. And c’mon, if you want to get some fun, just rent a Ferrari/Dodge/ or a Track-pack Plaid for a day, and it will be enough. The daily advantages of a bigger battery outweigh all speed differences. Unless money is not a deciding factor. And if it isn’t, get the Rimac lol

That would be cool, although a track test would probably be better but don't get me wrong I'd love to see it
@@cuprashoe For a track test, I would come up with other cars than the Rimac and the Lotus 😅 For example, the McLaren W1 against the Ferrari F80, whereby a drag race and a rolling race between the two cars would also be very interesting.

It doesn’t if you put it in the correct mode. They had it in launch which reduces power after 1/4 mile. If they had it in sapphire mode it wouldn’t have the top end power cut.

Plaid fan. Still super impressive! Truly awesome it was coming back on the Lucid above 150! Sapphire is unreal…but it should be at 2.5X the price. But the best 250K you can spend on performance. Plaid plus needs to happen.
Yes, and the next-gen roadster.
Musk has already said there won't be a Plaid+ as the Roadster hits the market.
The plaid costs 109k as tested, plus 20k for the track package
Plus I believe this youtuber specifically bought a new even lighter magnesium or something wheel set, I don't think he told us the price but Porsche sells them for 20k, so probably at least 10-15 k from aftermarket vendors.
So all in all, 109+20+10?= 139k
Do some math, 250÷139= 1.79
So it's 79% more money for a few 0.2 or whatever second 0-60
This Tesla "package" would also give you 2 extra sets of wheels and 1 extra set of tyres.
@twothbeave lighter wheels are useful for waayy more than just low end acceleration, it's both rotational mass and unsprung weight
Just saying.
It's not about the purchase price, it's about the price of ownership
A Porsche 911 GT3 RS is way cheaper to own than Maserati gran turismo for example because the Maserati depreciates way faster.
After you buy a 200k 911, you will still have a 160k in 3 years, if you buy a Maserati for 200k, you will have a 100k Maserati in 3 years.
The Maserati costs twice as much.
Someone who bought a plaid for 150k 2021, now has to sell it for 40-60k, a loss of 90-110k
It cost them 3x what a Porsche 911 would have.
Nevera is another dimension to any other factory car right now. It’s not even close.

Less than 130K. 108K
Even better get a used one for 70-80k with track pack..

Really,i searched really hard but only 67k at most ,upgraded to track pack and i fear no one on streets now.Did i get scammedor did i just bought itin hurry?😢🫠.@@abc123fhdi
They depreciate fast, buy used.
@@Cyborg_Auto there's a good reason they depreciate fast. Also, the performance deteriorates which is why this channel lost over 5mph trap speed in his other Plaid.
@@abc123fhdi40 k where?
Just when I thought my pumped up ‘86 Grand National was quick…
New World!
I wanna see that race with the tesla Roadster in the future...
Lmao imagine believing this thing will ever be built.
Great video, impress on the lack of momentum from the Nevera at launch in comparison with the S Plaid and the Sapphire, tires possibly?
If only the Plaid & Lucid had the looks of the Nevera!
However they are much more practical and much cheaper especially the Tesla.
Hands down. The Plaid is the most insane car here. 9 - 9.3 quarters and and 14.5 second quarters for 100k? Unprecedented in production vehicles.
Now that’s what I call insane?
Over 200mph in the half. Good lord.
@@rustler08 Jesko Absolut 220 mph 1/2 Mile but slower ET 14.0 sec
Great video, thank you
Can’t wait for you to compare these cars to the Taycan GT
The McMurtry Speirling would absolutely DESTROY all of these. THAT would be awesome to see.
Thats so wild to fathom
You're McMuffy LOST against Rimac Nevera on Carwow! 😁
More HP will always win on top end speed. I was surprised to see the lucid was still faster off the line. 204 mph in under 12 secs..that super fast.
Thanks for sharing! Great vid. I love my Plaid but definitely wouldn't mind upgrading to a Sapphire or Nevera
The funniest part of the video was 9:49! Bro looked like he was checking to make sure the apples were still part of the tree 🤣
Nice close matchup, the Sapphire has more horsepower, but the Plaid is lighter.
Sapphire barely edges out the Plaid on a 1/2 mile drag on average, now I'd love to see if the Sapphire can keep up on the track with that weight difference.
The Sapphire has far superior handling. I know the Edmunds U-drag is basically only 1 turn, but you can see the huge lead it gives the Sapphire.
@@TIGFAD Aside from it being a low quality source, the Edmunds clip didn't use the Plaid Track pack, just regular stock brakes and street tires meant for daily driving.
This is about the config that was used here.
Also Edmunds's test didn't really stress handling much by going in a circle, I wanna see this on the Nurburgring or such.
@@AllanSustainabilityFan they clearly state right at the beginning that it has the track pack. At 0:39
@@TIGFAD The Edmunds editor essentially admitted he was fudging data on various reviews for their sponsors. TeslaDaily did a good job grilling him on that, it's a fun watch.
I would recommend someone like Misha, for example, who re-tested with Track Pack, and was blown away by the difference in handling:
"I Owe Tesla an Apology. Model S Plaid Track Pack DELIVERS."
@@TIGFAD i don't trust edmunds much
In the words of the great poet Clarksonius, "the Rimac just fuxx off".
The NEW Holy Trinity sure isn't the new offerings from McLaren and Ferrari. As a McLaren owner, boy is the W1 underwhelming. If I did go pure EV, I would go Lucid, regardless of the results of this drag race. It truly appears to be a well-engineered luxury car.
You're spot on, after the P1 the McLaren has unfortunately fallen off hard.... (comparing to pure EV's)
Cool video, the way that Rimac fires off into the sunset.
Dang that tesla still looks soo good! And the guy who came through for you is awesome! Casually brings out a 2 5m dollar car 😂!
dude always gives backyhanded statements, i bet he is a joy to be around.
watching the rimac run away from those two other beasts reminded me of the cannonball run opening scene.
The Nevara should be called the Usain Bolt, since nothing can touch it.
aspark owl sp600
I think rimac nevera has some problem, the 0 to 60 mph timing is not 2.6, it go 0 to 60 mph in just 1.8 sec, you guys have to fixed it up.
The new holy trinity is the gma t50, Koenigsegg gemera and Bugatti tourbillion
The new Eisenmann exhaust does a great job! Love the roar...
I mean, it just proves that the Plaid is by far the BEST value. The sapphire are WAY overpriced....
Yea man,and no tech like tesla too
If your only metric is a drag race. The Sapphire is a better car in nearly every way, besides perhaps UI. If the Sapphire is over priced what is the Rimac, as cars go up in price there is dimishing returns this is similar to virtually every product you buy.
Sapphire is a way better car man.
Yeah, if you're just looking at numbers. Drive both of them and you'll find the Air is a more complete car vs the Model S. Besides, you can also get the GT for about the same price as the Plaid Track and still with plenty of performance. If the Sapphire is 'way overpriced' then what the is Taycan Turbo GT?
@RajeshSingh-rt4rx can buy 1 plaid s ,1m3p,1 plaid x for sapphire money bro,for 200hp more...
That Tesla value is nuts!
Also at the top end it starts to creep ahead of the Saphirre which is insane
These cars really needed a prepped surface to show their full capabilities. They all had close 1/4 miles times here.
I prefer this setup because it mimics the street even though these cars will NEVER see these speeds on the street. Up to 100mph which is reasonable on a highway these cars are pretty closely matched.
@@ChosenMJlol the nevera isn’t close at all. It has done 2.0 0-60 on a surface like this
Brooks , you create awesome content . I've been watching you for 5 years now. Would you organise Holy Trinity Roll races and drag races (1/4,1/2 mile ) of stock P1 Coupe vs stock 918 Spyder vs stock Laferrari Coupe with the stock tires on all of them and the same fuel and on the prepared surface (like drag strip ) , please ?!!!🙏🙏🙏 T here are almost no honest races ( especially roll races , ,1/2 mile drag races ) of this Holy Trinity on UA-cam...
