    My Bloody Valentine is my personal favorite slasher movie and being one of the greatest slasher film of all time, this movie still kickass with the uncut version making the film better, and having great cast to care for, and the gas mask killer is badass!!! With that awesome menacing Miner gas mask 🔪💖🔪. I love this one and the remake too great review Drumdum this movie still kickass as a badass slasher film.

    Watched this last night. It’s become a Valentine’s Day tradition for me. I LOVE My Bloody Valentine, I really enjoy the blue collar atmosphere and the fact that the characters are slightly older instead of being teenagers is intriguing. Love TJ and Sarah. I was able to score this movie on Blu-ray on eBay a few years ago for around 25 dollars. The unrated version is definitely the way to go.

    Yeah, this has always been an underrated film comparatively to other slashers. personally I like it better than a lot of other slashers, including all the Fridays except maybe the first one. It just feels very raw, and the tone you mentioned is one of the reasons I like it - it's a bit different than the typical. I like the original better than the remake. Remakes almost never capture the cool 80's feel and level of gore of the original films of that era, and I feel this is true with My Bloody Valentine as well.
    Good review.

    Brilliant review of a underrated slasher, I'm surprised this didn't get a sequel with how it ended but it's a entertaining slasher with some carnage candy thrown in.
    The 2008 remake is also very good & definitely on par with this film.

    I’ve seen the blu ray sell for up to 200$ on eBay in a bidding war. I got it for 5$ at wal-mart here in Canada. It’s a great old Canadian slasher. So many great kills and the story is a little more then just a normal slasher.

  • @SportsAndHorrorFanatic
    @SportsAndHorrorFanatic 3 роки тому

    I feel like this is the perfect slasher movie. It’s basically got everything I look for in a great slasher. The characters are so likable and genuine, and they work so well together. The small mining town aspect brings a great uniqueness to the film. I also really like how they buildup the legend of Harry Warden. It kind of makes you wonder if he’s the killer or if it’s someone new. Going along with that, I’ve always enjoyed the whodunit slasher movies. It keeps you thinking and guessing throughout the entire movie. The comedy and goofiness also makes it a fun ride. The reveal and ending scene with the killer laughing is also so well done. Lastly, the kills in the uncut version are so creative and incredible. I think it’s a shame this movie doesn’t get the praise that some of the well known slashers get. I think the MPAA’s decision to slash critical scenes truly hurt this movie’s legacy. True horror fans appreciate this film, but I truly believe it could have been more mainstream if it was originally shown how George Mihalka wanted it to be shown. This film will always have a special place in my heart (pun intended).

    I really enjoy My Bloody Valentine, it is easily one of my top 10 favorite horror films! I think the original is better than the remake though I agree the remake was still very good! The killer is iconic and I prefer the look of the killer in the original than in the remake! I like the extended cut but I would really like for them to go back and really try and clean up the extended scenes to make them look the best they can be, though it sucks the negative for the double impalement scene went missing because I would really like to see that kill!

    Great review, Lee! This is one of my favorite horror films of all time. When I did my list of top ten best horror movies, this was my number 10. This is an AWESOME slasher! And my rewatch was the extended cut which just looked beautiful just because of the kills! Again, great review of a great slasher film!

    This one follows the “pick a day or holiday “ theme in the early 80s horror films (Friday 13, Halloween, April Fools ,,etc) & it works for me. I enjoyed this flick back in tha day & I am glad you reviewed it, great 👍🏻 video . Anywhoo, do you prefer the remake or the original??

    Love this movie. I might be the only one but I found TJ to be really unlikable. First time I watched this I was siding with Axel. Defiantly one of the best 80's slasher films. There are quite a few I enjoy more but I still enjoy the hell out of this.

    Just finished watching this film for the very first time. I enjoyed it a lot. I'm so glad I watched the extended cut or the unrated cut. Some of the most creative kills I have ever seen in a slasher. Fun characters, minus the very annoying woman in red (idk her name) While I prefer the remake, it's still a killer time of a movie. Loved your review. 🤘

    Good review. I had the same thing with this movie as you did, the first time i watched it i thought it was okay but nothing special. Then i watched it a second time years later and i really liked it and still really liked it after multiple viewings. Good characters, story and kills. The love traingle indeed worked in this movie and the twist at the end is surprising. I liked that the killer was part of the group, but the ending did felt a little bit rushed. Other then that this is in my top 25 of best slashers and it is my favorite Valentine 's day movie haahaa

    The original, firmly in my top 10 of all time. a shame all these greatest classics are so low print that they become so expensive within a short time. Keeping them from most collectors. The uncut of Halloween 6 is sitting at around 35+ on Ebay right now, just crazy and a shame, and then we give in to have them. Sounds like a plan from the distributors.

    I liked this film a great deal. An eerie backstory, a poetic, taunting killer, and high emotional tension make this so much more than a typical slasher. The murders are hideous, especially Mabel's. I know the motive seems weak, but it really isn't considering Axel's temper and personality. He likely felt like no one gave a damn about his father's death when the party was announced, and decided to make a point, no pun intended.

    Both the remake and the original are really well done in their own ways. I saw the remake before this movie and it was because I enjoyed the remake I saw the original. I even showed the remake to my mother and we watched it, and she had a good time. She only hated one movie I ended up showing her and that was Dead Alive (Brain Dead for you Europeans.. Our Brain Dead Movie is another good classic that I love)
    She found it too over the top... Ironic thing is, that when I showed her the original Evil Dead, she loved that movie. Mom admits to me that it doesn't make sense.
    I love both of these movies...

    Great slasher film with good characters and atmosphere, and yes, uncut version is even better, even though it's not full original X rated cut of the film, some more extended gore shots are missing and entire double impalement scene in the mine.

    I don't know if My Bloody Valentine (MBV) was stripped of it gore footage because of the shooting of John Lennon as much as it was because of Friday The !3th. I cannot remember where I got this info, but just know I am a slasher fan who grew up devouring Fangoria. Anyway. I attributed MBV getting hacked up due to Friday The 13th. As we all know F-13 set a new standard for special effects in horror. There was a backlash against the MPAA (they rates films here in the USA) when it came to the rating for F-13. Sp supposedly the next time a movie from Paramount Pictures came up for a rating, MBV, it paid the price and was punished for the sins of F-13. That is the story as I read it or heard it years ago, It makes sense. I think it might have even come from an interview on Fangoria with George Mihalka the Director of MBV. No matter what the truth is here, MY BLOODY VALENTINE is at the top of my list of faves. Only two movies top it. #1 Prom Night 1980, #2 Halloween 1978 #3 My Bloody Valentine

    This has to be one of my favorite stand alone slashers ! I love the setting of this , the cinematography , this is a very creepy movie the kills are AWESOME : the pickaxe through the eye , the shower kill , the nail gun kill , I really love wow the killer looks the gas mask killer is by far one of the scariest looking killers . I would give this movie a 9 .5/10 the only thing I do not like is the High School Musical love triangle

    • @DrumdumsMovieReviews

  • @niclastuohea1305
    @niclastuohea1305 Рік тому

    Hell. I love this movie. Maybee the best slasher from the early 80is. I understand why tarrantino loves this.its ofcourse not better then halloween and black christmas, but its better then Friday the 13th and its a shame it did not get a follow up. The kills ar great, the atmosphere is amazing, the legend about Harry warden is classic and on par with jason. So its a shame that it did not get a follow up. And i always like when the killer has a look, and he have. The extended Cut is the way.
