I love these videos of historic races of all kinds of racing series, they're just amazing!
Hell yeah. That's what this channel is all about.
As a Labonte fan, the '95 race is my favorite of all-time. This one, not so much, although the '95 one was a lot worse from Dale, he just tried to go through him in the final turn. Sadly, this was the beginning of the end for Terry's career, he won in Texas earlier this season, but didn't have a Top 5 the rest of 1999 and got only one win the rest of his career (2003 Darlington, where he held off Kevin Harvick). But that's the way it goes.
I clicked like before the video even started! As always a fine job with these videos. You really have a knack for this type of content! Earnhardt was my hero too. I've watched this race hundreds if not thousands of times and get those same goosebumps every time.
Hell yeah. I appreciate it. Me too man. The energy back then was just different, and sadly Nascar has lost most of that. I'm still a diehard fan, never miss a race. But when Dale was racing you knew it was going to be exciting.
Went to Daytona 500 in ‘92 and it was really cool 😎. I knew practically every drivers long history in the sport and who they used to drive for and how they earned a ride in Nascar by working their way up the different divisions. So, I attended the 2022 500 and was kinda disappointed that I knew, maybe, 3-4 driver’s back story (Harvick / Hamlin / Truex ) The rest were unfamiliar kids that spent maybe a season in trucks then went straight to cup cars and those new cars and rims. Geez, you talk about friggin ugly 😫!!! The number relocation………???seriously???!!😣 I felt like I was attending a rice burning drifter contest. Nascar has been alienating me as a fan for years but, I’m kinda done. 🤔Back to good ole short tracks where Earnhardt’s spirit probably spends most of his time at anyways.😉🏁
To be fair, Labonte did touch Earnhardt first (twice actually) but Earnhardt just cleaned him out. Boy, just imagen the nuclear meltdown from the fandum if it happened today... oh, wait it does happen in just about every race depending on who does what to who.
I mean, there was a LOT of controversy about this back in '99. Especially when they penalized Jerry Nadeau in the same race.
Btw Bobby lost a rear gear not a motor. But still kept it running for a while longer
Yes sir, my mistake. He actually finished the race by cruising the apron.
I remember on UA-cam for Terry Lebonte vs (Late) Dale SR in the final lap meaning The Bump and Run for Dale sr would checkered flag Wins at Bristol.
And the audience got BOOED For (Late) Dale SR wins victory Lane Celebration during Interview
I live in Bristol and was at this race as a kid...it was awesome and I remember talking to people out from out of town that said they had to book their hotel rooms 2 years in advance and some were farther ahead than that. Bristol used to be an extravaganza!
That's awesome you got to see this in person. It's still hard to get hotel rooms for Bristol, but I think its mainly due to the location. Ill be there in September and I'm staying two hours away in Pigeon Forge. Which seems like a really cool place.
@@Demise90Racing Pigeon Forge is a great place... you'll have a blast for sure!
I remember 10 year old me watching this with my Dad, who raced midgets on the West Coast and USAC, and how pissed my Mom got and how much she hated Dale Sr. on the track. 😆
i hoped your parents not being divorced because of this
"Hospital Wobble" hahaha! never heard that one before! :D
I'd need to go digging or ask Nascarman but it was stated in a now deleted blog, that the ESPN crew during commercial were wondering if Dale would keep the win or if it'd get removed a la Ricky Rudd in 1991 when he was black flagged instead of being shown the checkered flag.
Also that Corn Flakes car always looked sharp, really
Dale always got special treatment, races like this made me hate him. That's not racing, that's just being a sore loser. I don't care what he says, he took Terry out and he knew exactly what he was doing.
Another awesome video dude! Thank You!
No, thank you for checking it out. I appreciate it 👍
Always happy to see you post a new video! 👍
Thank you very much. Seems like my subs don't appreciate the Nascar content as much, but I see the real ones like yourself watching them all, and I'm really grateful for that.
@@Demise90Racing hell yeah brother 🤙
Another banger of a good video from Deathcore Demise 🤘🏻🏆 This race is kinda ingrained in my memory because of the finish. But the honest truth is Terry would've won by a mile if he hadn't the incident with DW. There was a lot going on there in such a short time. Incredible race
Hahaha my deathcore days are long behind me. As always I appreciate it. This race had to be done on the channel.
@@Demise90Racing I'm a huge metal fan so I had to throw that in there! Lol
After that race that was the first time I ever heard boos for Sr and he actually looked surprised
Earnhardt used to get booed all the time through roughly 1997. Around that point, the pendulum shifted and you never heard many boos for him after that. He was quoted later in the week after this race saying something to the effect of "If they're not cheering me, they'd better be booing me" because he felt that any reaction was better than no reaction.
Hey brotha commenting on your comment about the constant missing of the restart on the broadcast back in the day, my guess would be they have a certain amount of ads/commercials that have been paid for in a certain time frame of the race and have to honor those before switching back, not sure if that's accurate but it's my best guess lol
That makes sense. I feel like a major part that I never really mentioned as well, is today NASCAR is in constant contact with the broadcasters of Fox and NBC so nothing gets missed. Back then the broadcasters had to make their best guess on when to bring the broadcast back for the green. But even this theory I may be mistaken.
@@Demise90Racing indeed! That's a good point as well 💯
You should do a video on the next race at Bristol that they got together
I think.....and again I'd need to find it, but the satellite eed is or was, on UA-cam.
Yes everyone talks about the last lap, but look at the big picture. Jarrett was absolutely running away with the title in 99, but had a rough race. Also Bristo 95 led to 99, and this led to Pocono 2000, and Eli Gold and Jeremy Mayield's amazingly good quotes about rattling his cage.
Next,The #FormulaE 2020/21 Season for Mercedes EQ and Nyck De Vries wins debut for the Champions at #BerlinEPrix after Mitch Evans Didn't start the engine for green light Made contact with Edoardo Mortara in red flag (First lap) added Jake Dennis crash in first turn has lost for the lead podium.
Thanks and greetings from Indonesia
Another Great job 👍
Thank you very much. Appreciate it as always 👍
Short track racing at its finest? Ew. Earnhardt flat out spins the leader with 3 to go. Cheapest of the cheap shots. All the time he would say he didnt want to spin people. He was "rattling cages". Everyone knew it was bull. The guy survived and thrived off of just spinning people he couldnt get around. How dare anyone ever touch him though. Earnhardt was a menace on the track at the best of times. Money talked and people love a good heel so Big Bill and son let him do whatever he wanted.
As an Earnhardt fan I see ur Mad he was always beating ur favorite driver
@@nascarandrc8296 yeah I've heard that same tired line for 40 years
@@smokeymchaggis73 by the way Terry hit Dale first
🤔 If your favorite driver is so talented, why didn’t he spin Earnhardt out………..yup,here comes the hateful reply after hearing too much truth.😉🏁
Honestly, I can absolutely see why people dislike Earnhardt.
I may like him, but I'd probably be salty too if I saw him mindlessly shove my favorite driver outta the way and shrug it off.
If you no longer go for a gap that doesn’t exist, you are no longer a racing driver
-Earnhardt probably
I think they missed all the restarts cause they were worried bout the fans in the stands not making money on comercials like they do now look at those stands packed
He wreck terry back in 94 or 95 then he finished the Job four years later
It Bristol baby
*It's Bristol Baby.
Ohh yeah. That's a future video no doubt about it.
Gee: PACKED grandstands !!! What's missing ?!? Oh, yeah: Dirt; Lucky Dogs; Stages, etc. And a finish for the ages. The Bristol Night Race was must-see TV.
Always remember, if it wasn't for NASCAR's absolutely nonsensical pit road rules that placed everybody on the backstretch at a ridiculous and unfair disadvantage, Dale would have been able to pit for fresh tires and come out in front of Terry and win anyway. The right guy won...we just took a dramatic path to get there.
That was a Keselowski move by Earnhardt. Not cool. He said he just wanted to "rattle his cage" but in reality he just wrecked him. That's not racing, that's crash car derby.
12th is the best right cause that's what like number I got
Ryan Blaney haha
Lol
I'm sorry, that's not racing, that's being a sore loser. Terry went past him cleanly, Dale got pissed and took him out; it was totally on purpose, I don't care what he says. Anyone else would have been penalized for that nonsense.
Especially when they penalized Jerry Nadeau in the same race.
While I agree that wrecking cars, especially the 5 cars behind Dale and Terry, is NOT a part of racing; Terry did not pass Dale cleanly. Terry bumped and ran Dale on the second to last lap in turns 3&4
dale won fair and square rubbing is racing princess and terry hit dale first he didnt pass clean
I have a video request. You should make a video analyzing Earnhardt's reputation as a dirty driver. Personally, I think it is completely unwarranted. I think it is mostly just a bunch of fans of other drivers making excuses. Most of these people would have trouble even naming 4 or 5 times Dale ever caused an accident. Most people probably can only remember the 2 altercations with Terry at Bristol. I know we don't have footage of every race, but my guess is that it would be tough to come up with a top 10 list of crashes caused by Earnhardt. I can only think of a few...certainly no more than most drivers with careers that long.
His reputation was well earned. When he couldn't pass on talent and speed, he'd just take people out. He did it a lot, and what's more frustrating, people (him included) lost their damn minds when people did it to him.
@@2005StangMan If it was so common, surely you could quickly rattle off some examples other than the two I already mentioned that everyone remembers. At this point, you are either going to ignore this or go look up instances because you can't actually remember other occasions because it wasn't common.
@@trent82 if you can remember every occasion he took people out when he died over 20 years ago, you could could use some other hobbies. It happened frequently. The man didn’t get the nickname and reputation for nothing.
Any searches just show the Daytona 01 crash or articles lauding him for his driving. Since he was killed (largely due to his own arrogance), people refuse to speak bad about him and act like he was a saint.
@@2005StangMan I never said anything about memorizing every crash of his career, I just asked you to mention a few that stick out and you can't...because it wasn't common. So I just proved you can't even think of one specific altercation outside of those 2 run ins with Terry. This is the whole point of why I think a video on this would be interesting. I truly believe it is a just a bunch of bitter Mark Martin fans and Bill Elliot fans and whoever else.
I mean, you can literally watch dozens, if not hundreds, of old NASCAR races from that era right now on this website and you would struggle to find any evidence of your claims.
@@trent82 who’s got time for that shit? I stopped watching the sport decades ago because of how inconsistent NASCAR was at penalties. It okay, you’re a Dale fan and you think he’s a saint. Those who don’t live that cult know how dirty he was at times.
Dylan hurts you never ever meant to wreck anyone if you believe his BS I have respect for the guy he has a lot of talent but I never will respect how he won most of his races he wrecked people all the time to get a victory and today everybody gets passed for that but when he doesn't he celebrated I think that sucks bro I can't stand that crap
It could be replicated but not with these horrible cars and not to mention ruining bristol when they reconfigured it
Absolutely. The biggest mistake ever was ruining Bristol. I think the new car can get there, but it needs a lot of work on short track and road courses.
It was a shitty move by Earnhardt, which cost several other teams and drivers dearly. Not his finest moment.
it got him the win so not a shitty move at all great move rubbing is racing princess
I liked it when he rattled his own cage and never drove again.
