I am blown away at just how much Kerry looks like Dale Sr. He even sounds like him. If he put on Dale Sr's glasses you would swear it was him. It's like watching Dale Jr talk to his dad back in the late 90s.

Met Kerry at his shop with the Channel Lock car years ago. The nicest human being on the planet. Was planning on 1 minute hello type greeting. Me and my buddy were the only ones in the shop....Kerry spent an hour talking to us and showing us the car and around the shop. Southern hospitality at it's best.

@Baynes91 No, unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to go back. But he really was the nicest person. Kerry is very very smart. He was talking over our heads about the car setup and things, then realized he was doing that and dummied it up for us without making us feel like we were a couple of numbskulls bothering him.

Watching how Dale Jr. handles this interview is something to applaud, as he keeps it focused on Kerry and doesn't let it go off-subject; such as allowing Kerry to chronologically tell his story and not jump ahead when the subject of Mammaw and the family reunion came up early. As when that was brought up early, Dale Jr. said they'd get to it, but first tell your story, Kerry.

Tim, trust me, I’m no Teresa Earnhardt apologist. But could you possibly look at it from another viewpoint? She’s already involved with a man with 2 previous wives and 3 kids separated between those 2 women who don’t really know much of anything about each other or their kids AT ALL, let alone having the new and added responsibility of essentially becoming an instant stepmother to both Dale & Kellie who lived with Dale & Teresa 1/2 the year. Then along comes Kerry - child (actually a teenager) number 3 out of nowhere...now I’m not justifying her cold rudeness and standoff-ishness, but she has got to be realizing at this point that she’s involved with a guy with A LOT OF BAGGAGE! That’s kind of A LOT to take in...
I don’t know it for a fact, it’s just my gut feeling, but I’m pretty sure Teresa felt like she had bitten off more than she could chew, by hitching her wagon to Dale’s. That’s the ONLY reason I’d cut her ANY slack...she might’ve been the wicked step-monster, but I give her a little bit of credit for trying to manage the load she volunteered to take on...
Just my opinion...I don’t “love” (or even LIKE her), but I also can’t hate her too much for trying...

My biological father walked out on me when I was an infant and today I’m 44 years old and he’s still made no effort to see me. Being abandoned is a weight that you just cannot get off of you. It would be great to hear all of the Earnhardts talking amongst each other. Kelly's memories would have been the icing on the cake!

So I've listened to this episode twice now & I really admire the courage & maturity that Kerry obviously had during those years. Extraordinary. Not to mention Kerry Earnhardt looks identical to his daddy!

I can’t get over Jr’s boyhood/childlike reactions/facial expressions to all the memories and stories that come up in these podcasts. Like he legit gets excited when someone mentions some obscure name from the background scene and it’s someone who he also knew. You’d never know just by watching these podcasts that Dale Jr HIMSELF did GREAT THINGS in his own long Cup career. Never mind the fact that he was NASCAR’s most popular driver for almost TWO DECADES…lol. What a down-to-earth just all around good dude 👍

I know exactly how Kerry felt that first time, its surreal how the story of my father and I matches his almost exactly, from the one phone call in early high school, finding out I had two sisters and to the silent room first time meeting, Hell even my Uncle who was my semi replacement dad taught me to golf. The emotions I had watching this, words truly fail me at the moment.

This all really touched me. I'm adopted and when I had a child of my own became real curious. I found and tried to reach out to my bio mom which didn't work out. Hearing about all this and the positive outcome made me feel real happy for Kerry and Dale Sr. as well as Kelly and Jr and all the rest.

I am sorry Greg. With a mom who treats her bio son so coldly, you may be far better off with your adopted family. I think you may have dodged a bullet by being raised by someone else who is more loving and caring than the woman who gave birth to you.

As an adopted kid...it was the toughest thing to do... telling your family that raised you that you found your birth parents....adopting parents know that this time can come....but their hearts are as big as their open arms with understanding....
