    Quality channel. Keeping it all in the real world. Done the wife's 1.0 ecoboost fiesta couple of months back. 47k but coming up to 9 years old. I personally like these engines and if they're serviced regularly with the right oil etc. Rather do one of these than a Vauxhall 1.6 cdi? Gearbox off to do a belt? No you're alright!

    Interesting you mention about it needing the MAF to run at all. It reminds me of an '04 Astra 2.0 diesel with a failing MAF I had. Then the MAF just stopped working completely (zero output but still connected) and the engine refused to run until a new MAF was fitted. Some engines are just odd like that. Sometimes it seems as if there was some sort of 'personality' that decides when it's going to be awkward and throw a hissy fit and about what.

      Can I ask you how to time the cams up before I install them.do I just fit the pins then it's timed? If I then time the bottom on marks it still could be 180 degree out couldn't it or not cheers

    Might be worth getting an ODB2 reader as that may have shown the MAF was a non start fault.

    Thanks for posting this video - I have been wondering if they are fixable - as everybody just seems to say new engine -
    Are the 1.0 ecoboost engines fixable in the same way ??
    Im suprised no one has made a chain conversion kit for them by now

    can you tell by compression test if there's a bent valve(s) before starting even deep disassembly?

    • @G-ra-ha-m
      @G-ra-ha-m 2 місяці тому

      Without the cams in, all 4 cylinders shout be 'shut', so if the engine can turn over some result should be seen - but also no air can really get in either, to compress.

    My 2017 2.0 tdci ecoblue timing belt just ripped and the engine immediately shut down while driving on the highway.. sounds exactly the same like this one in the video while cranking.
    Inspected the pistons and cylinders with a camera but seems to be in a good condition, do you think just putting on a new timing belt might work and get it started up?

      I'd recommend once you have the carrier off to turn the crank so the single tooth on the crank lines between the double tooth on the idler gear which the belt goes on. that is the timing mark. and use the correct locking tool
