This game is a underrated gem like for its size and how old it is I have 150 hours in from like 3-4 weeks ya un healthy and i work full time lol but im hooked
This game is right up my alley and I'm trying really hard to get into it but I think I'm just missing something. I've played souls games for example that don't explain much to you, and you need to figure it out yourself but this game doesn't make sense too me. Idk what to do or when I should be doing it.
I think that’s the weakest link about Valheim- that it doesn’t give you any direction. It’s truly a sandbox survival though. It’s not designed to be beaten, but rather to take yourself from survive to thrive. It’s a game you “live in”. Build, develop, upgrade. If it helps, though, here’s the order: * Build home, hunt, gear up. * Find and kill Eikthyr (meadows boss). Make pickaxe * Find tin, find copper. Build smelter, build forge, make bronze. Upgrade gear * Find and kill the Elder (Black Forest boss). Get swamp key. * Find swamp, find sunken crypts, mine iron, smelt iron. Upgrade gear. * Find and kill Bonemass (swamp boss). Get treasure locator (forgot its name). * Find mountain biome, hunt, find silver using treasure finder thingy. Upgrade gear. * Locate and kill Moder (mountain boss), get Moder tears. Make new machines. * Go to the Plains and raid fuling villages and hunt fulings. Collect black iron and upgrade gear. * Find and kill Yagluth (plains boss). Celebrate (he ain’t easy). * Find the Mistlands and explore, upgrade gear. Find and kill Queen. Celebrate. * Wait for next major update Along the way you’ll want to look for new items, plants, animals, rocks, etc and build out your villages/ castles/ farm. Thats pretty much it! Hope it helps in some way 🤷♂️

Thanks! Planning, yes. Haven’t started yet though. I’m considering making the silver age the last of the series, as you’re not really a beginner anymore by that phase. We’ll see how it’s received though 🤷♂️
I just had the same problem in a new world I started. The crypts are more common in BIG swamps and tend to spawn near the inner area or center of the swamp. I find one occasionally on the edge near the water, but it’s rare. The bigger the swamp the higher chance of crypts spawning. There is still iron in the swamp though. Walk around hitting the ground with stagbreaker until you see damage numbers coming up from the earth. There are muck piles buried (also not too common though) in the swamp. Once you see the damage indicator, keep slamming it. Once it breaks, scrap iron will drop and teleport to the surface.
@@mattTheLumberjack yea, can’t tell you what I was thinking. It’s the first thing I do during my normal play-throughs. Just decided to white knuckle it this time, I guess 🤷♂️ I should have at least mentioned it, though.

@gamestar.nation could you include a short video on the ocean, sailing and fishing sometime in the future? I'm really struggling with actually catching any large fish (or serpent) before my stamina drains
I would like to warn Valheim newcomers that the title of the video is misleading, the advice given is nowhere near complete, safe or effective in conquering the Swamp. Only the author's previous experience in Valheim and other games helped to avoid several deaths.
@@gamestar.nation A lot is missing. I wouldn't call even a very good review "complete", because you can always find something else to add. Noted speedrunner NickRawcliff has a review of the Swamp, better but not complete (and he doesn't call it "complete"). Making something worse and calling it "perfect" is probably called a "potboiling". What is missing without what Nicks shows? How to approach the Swamp, portals, use of hostile creatures ( including trolls), Stagebraker and atgeir options, Swamp or nearby off-base options in iron processing, keyless access to crypts and related perks, and what threats there are after defeating Bonemass. And this is what I just remember to be important. Oh, and there are some interesting cheats related to crypts.
Well, as I say in all my Valheim tutorials, “this isn’t everything there is to know, just everything you need to know”. The video was made organically and I didn’t die in the process. The things you claim are missing, I don’t see as critical info. Stag breaker is available way before swamp and I covered the atgeir. The comment section of my videos are a place where people leave tips to others. So feel free to leave some of the tips you find helpful… like making a base when you get there. This is the 3rd in my series so some things have been covered in past videos. I’m glad you liked NickRawcliff’s video. He does good work. Im okay with you not liking my video, but I stand by it.

Hey Rob, I really enjoy following your Valheim Videos. When will Part #4 in this series be available?
Thanks! I appreciate hearing that. This video has felt cursed from the start. It has taken longer than any other video to complete, but I’m not giving up! I stopped making any other videos until it’s done. I’m planning to have it up BY next Friday at the latest. 🤞
It's April, man!
Lol, take your time. My wife and I bought this game back in '21 but just last weekend decided to actually give it a shot. We're having so much fun, but don't have time to game like we used to 😢.
We really appreciate the content. Can't wait for the next one!
Awesome to hear! It's pretty satisfying to build out a shelter and watch it become a homestead, especially doing it all with your wife. That's top notch, right there!
Here's the next installment, btw: ua-cam.com/video/W5I9eRKdV0I/v-deo.html
are you using any graphic mods? if so what are they?
Nope, no mods. Why? What looks different to you?
my grass looks blurry and yours doesn't. all max settings.@@gamestar.nation
Aside from the dark which hurts my eyes I like the Swamp the Bonemass ability is incredible and imo Iron age is so easy I just skip any waste of time on Bronze or troll stuff I just go from Leather>Iron.Even the Antler pick is better because you don't need a forge to repair it so again faster than wasting time on a Bronze pick.
Yeah I have two things I always think about bring the mats for a portal and make sure to have buffs.
I’m with you on the armor. I go from troll skin to silver armor myself. Those are definately great tips (buffs and portals)! Thanks for sharing 👍
Great videos , are you doing guide for next biome ?
Yes, soon! “Soon” 😉
Thank you!
Hey, just wondering when the silver age video will drop? Your videos are the best for newbies! I just beat bonemass for the first time but truly missing your guidance. Hope you are doing well!
I don’t have a date yet. I’m working on 2 other videos first then I’ll start on it. Life has had me tied up but I should be back on track soon. I’ll see if I can’t drop a mini-mountain video to get you some guidance in the meantime 😉
I appreciate you!
Grats on killing Bonemass btw!
@@gamestar.nation thank you!!!
Excellent "age" videos. Are you planning the Silver Age anytime soon?
Thank you! Planning and filming soon, yes. Will it be finished soon… that’s a different story 🤷♂️
@@gamestar.nation looking forward to it. Great descriptions.
@@Firftr145 Thanks!
@@gamestar.nationany updates on the next age of the story?
@@goofydda6164 life pulled the rug out from under me. I haven’t had the time recently to devote to videos. I have some time off coming for the holidays so I’m hoping to get the bulk of it done then.
I appreciate that you and others want to see it. I’m sorry I have yet to deliver, but I haven’t abandoned the project.
I’ll post a community update by the end of the week regarding the status of #4
Ive been watching these to use as a guide with my buddies are you going to be doing mountains and the rest of the biomes as well?
Yea. I wasn’t going to originally, but there have been too many requests not to at this point. Working on mountains currently. Aiming for a release before New Years. 👍
@@gamestar.nation awesome you got my subscription!
This game is a underrated gem like for its size and how old it is I have 150 hours in from like 3-4 weeks ya un healthy and i work full time lol but im hooked
Can relate 👍
Thanks for the video.
Thank YOU!
Mass is really suseptible to blunt damage. Make poison resist. And health potions use iron mace.
That about sums it up 😉👍
Thanks!
If it helps, though, here’s the order:
* Build home, hunt, gear up.
* Find and kill Eikthyr (meadows boss). Make pickaxe
* Find tin, find copper. Build smelter, build forge, make bronze. Upgrade gear
* Find and kill the Elder (Black Forest boss).
Celebrate.
* Wait for next major update
Along the way you’ll want to look for new items, plants, animals, rocks, etc and build out your villages/ castles/ farm. Thats pretty much it! Hope it helps in some way 🤷♂️
Highly recommend poison resistant potions, would say more important than minor health potions
I second that! Thanks for the helpful tip 👍
Ok thanks to your lessons I have now won the first two boss fights. Side note....if you look at the second boss head when on a mount from the side it looks like a unicorns butt end farting a pink cloud. Had to share I can't unsee it😂😂😂
🤣that's wild! I'm positive I would have never seen that before, but now I can't unsee it either 🤣
Grats on the boss wins! The swamp is where it get's serious. Prepare yourself!
@@gamestar.nation I also found out not everything is land at sea the hard way. Found barnacle hit it an ground came to life. I died. Lol. An I killed a tree thing in the swamp. Your my best teacher
@@crazlady8648 oh a leviathan, yea. They don't stay up much after you start cracking barnacles. As your teacher, I must share this with you: ua-cam.com/video/Muwp6wTtarY/v-deo.htmlsi=ES36Mh5bJMXlTHiT
and grats on the abomination kill! That's impressive! (Also, a video on that 😉 ua-cam.com/video/DQgDkI5wtDA/v-deo.htmlsi=nRjaudpt9wJ0YpM- )
@@crazlady8648 Thank you, btw. I appreciate it!
@@gamestar.nation I'm truly glad I found your feed. Cause I'm really enjoying playing. Though taming has me a bit stressed, I did watch you video on it. Just need a bit more from those living islands 😉 😉
Nice videos. Are you planning "the Silver Age" anytime soon?
Thanks! Planning, yes. Haven’t started yet though. I’m considering making the silver age the last of the series, as you’re not really a beginner anymore by that phase. We’ll see how it’s received though 🤷♂️
Correction- started filming, not editing.
I've been to 3 swamps....and NO crypts?!?!
Welcome to Games Tarnation
🤣 I never realized it might sound like that! That's funny! I might consider switching the channel name to 'Games Tarnation' 🤣
always make a base when you get off your ship... if u die u are sailing back instead to using a portal
Good advice!
I was cringing when you didn’t bring gear for a portal where you landed your ship.
@@mattTheLumberjack yea, can’t tell you what I was thinking. It’s the first thing I do during my normal play-throughs. Just decided to white knuckle it this time, I guess 🤷♂️
I should have at least mentioned it, though.
@@gamestar.nation I noticed this too, but simply assumed ya forgot to think about it cause ya are too damn skilled to be able to die in this game so ya forgot about us mere mortals that find all sorts of ways to get our stupid butts killed. :P (I myself can't quit feeling like I have outright "Super Dying Skills"...)
@@JoshuaGanoTyraxLightning 🤣 "Super Dying Skills". Like your dieing skill is level 100 🤣That's funny.
I die plenty though, I just get to cut that stuff out 😜
I can't count how many times I've picked a fight with something in the plains only to realize all-too-late that my food buffs wore off and I have the constitution of a toddler.
Bravo! #slowclap 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
thank you, thank you *bows* 😆
no, but really, thank you!
Any other episodes?
Meadows, Black Forest, swamps are all that’s out now. Mountains is in production currently

Please release part 4
A plan to return to production on it Monday. Got a different video dropping first
@@gamestar.nation Awesome, thank you!
Finally got to swamps in valheim only to have my ship SANK because a Leviathan.
Noooo! Ah, that really sucks! Sorry to hear. Just have faith though, it’s all part of Orin’s plan
Aren´t you worried that your base will get destroyed without defenses?
I usually already have a log fence around my property, but I’m not home much on this world. Perhaps that’s what I’ll do between this and my next tutorial.
Yea, thanks for the idea 😉👍
We missed you you gonna be playing starfield?
Yessir! Hoping for the best with it. You plan on playing?
@@gamestar.nation most definitely gonna be doing some coverage on it too!
@@breezyleogaming Right on! Maybe there’ll be some collab opportunities there 😉
@@gamestar.nation most definitely maybe a impressions style discussion
@@breezyleogaming I like it
Please complete the guide! :D
I’ll take your request as a compliment. So thank you! Mountains/silver should be out early next week. I will then move to the Plains, but I think that will be the last of the series. It is a beginners guide and nobody can be considered a noob after the Plains.
Which of the 3 current guides/videos did you like best? And, if you don’t mind, why?
(Anybody who has seen all 3 can feel free to answer as well)
@@gamestar.nation I really like the 2nd and 3rd since I got lost in my playthrough during bronze age transitioning to iron. What I like in your videos is you presented the simplest route for a complete noob. For that, thank you so much!
Thank YOU!
Part 4 is here, if you're still interested: ua-cam.com/video/8bLzsVua368/v-deo.html
Was sailing the coast near a swamp at night and a wraith came out to the ocean and wrecked me. Now trying to make a shitty raft to get back to my good stuff lol 😢
Been there… sucks. Sorry to hear it. Always have 2 boats ready to go. 👍
Bronze age, iron age, silver age... Does that imply there's a black metal age too? Sounds Norwegian af 😂
@@Matakshaman actually, yes! Working on that video now 👍
To my understanding, the developers are Scandinavian, so pretty on point!
@gamestar.nation could you include a short video on the ocean, sailing and fishing sometime in the future? I'm really struggling with actually catching any large fish (or serpent) before my stamina drains
@@Matakshaman you got it 😉👍

If you wanted the scales it's a loss though scales sink
Yep! Shallow shorelines or using the harpoon are the only reliable way to get those scales!
I would like to warn Valheim newcomers that the title of the video is misleading, the advice given is nowhere near complete, safe or effective in conquering the Swamp. Only the author's previous experience in Valheim and other games helped to avoid several deaths.
Yea? What’s missing? Help me improve future videos
@@gamestar.nation
A lot is missing.
Im okay with you not liking my video, but I stand by it.
damn good video if ya ask me
@@grimripr Thank you! I appreciate it 👍
