finally, a video worthy to have the title "The Beginner guide". I like how you separated the bronze age, iron age all the advancements. A beginnr guide more than 10 minutes will be boring but man you gave 1hr video yet I didn't get bored, not even for a minute. You are something else. Your narration make it more interesting. thank you for the videos man, they really help a lot.
I’m sad there is no videos beyond iron age, so I’m just watching all of these again and it i just awesome. I always find another detail which I forget about (currently conquering Black Forest and preparing for boss fight) Thank you Gamerstar.Nation!
@@JanJirásek-n1n I’m sorry it has taken so long to release the 4th video. Life has been pretty chaotic for me lately, but it is coming soon! I’m actually off work today and working to finish up the last of it. Reading that you and others are looking forward to and waiting for it is very motivating. I appreciate your appreciation as well as patience. EDIT: here it is- ua-cam.com/video/W5I9eRKdV0I/v-deo.htmlsi=UXWZrz-Jt_pnJH8k
That troll detour was hilarious. Everything that could go wrong went wrong. But he still kept his cool and kept explaining all the dangers as they revealed themselves organically. It was a perfect showing of the Black Forest experience
31:00 Bronze Armor is a trap. It's BARELY more armor than upgraded Troll Leather, eats up a TON of precious Bronze, plus it slows you way down, AND there's no Set Bonus like the Troll Armor has. It's a hard pass unless you really love the look or are some sort of the grind-happy, crazy completionist. 37:15 It's better to use Stake Walls since they don't degrade in the rain (and their height protects you from stuff like Skelly archers and Greydorf rocks). You'll need a bit more wood for each Stake Wall section, but it's totally worth it. Install a Wood Gate or two for easy access to your crops. 41:15 If you haven't killed Eikthyr a second time and hung his severed trophy head over your Bed or main hall's door, you are not yet a true Viking. Fun fact: Boss Heads and caught Fish that are hung from Item Stands have... additional effects. 45:30 Aside from the pointy bit on the ground, the front side of the Portal has Runes engraved in it, the back side is just plain wood. 56:00 Not true. Fire damage does NOT stack. The damage over time is based on how hard the initial hit was, and each time you re-apply it, the new debuff overrides the old one. This means that if you shoot something from Stealth, your fire damage will be huge - but if you get impatient and shoot again before it wears off, you'll replace the boosted stealth-shot fire with normal, low-damage fire. All that said, for the Elder it won't matter all that much since all your shots are going to do roughly the same amount of damage, so overriding the debuff is basically the same as extending it. But the fire-damage-over-time is NOT going to ramp up if you shoot him with Fire Arrows more frequently. 56:30 You can ALSO fight the Elder the same way you do Trolls - get up close, dodge roll or Parry his Stomp attack, and use your Bronze Axe - which he's weak to! - to get some good damage in. When he summons the tentacle roots, sprint to the other corner of his platform, hide behind a pillar in case he shoots vines at you, fire off a few arrows until he moves out of the roots (or they go poof), then get the axe back out and go back in. Admittedly, this method is almost inarguably more dangerous than sniping him with a billion Fire Arrows while hiding behind cover, but it's good practice for some of the tougher monsters you're going to be facing in future Biomes, where you won't always have cover or super-effective arrows handy. Great video overall! Solid tips for going from Caveman to Bronze-clad Viking Warrior.
I agree with the Bronze armor assessment. I used to make it first chance, but I found the Troll Armor to be much more useful. All the way up to the Mountain biome. But...I'm just like that...don't recommend that for new players.
A tip: when fighting a troll early here something you might wanna do:Have the crude bow at least level 2(higher the better), have flinthead or preferably fire arrows, have the rested buff(honestly this buff is op you should have it up in every biome and it's really easy just plop a campfire down and rest as long it's not raining),eat 2 stamina rich foods and 1 health (2 stamina and 1 health is the combination I prefer when exploring or using the bow, the combination that I thing is the best early is cooked deer meat, honey and raspberries, if you have glowing mushrooms replace the raspberries.Happy hunting!
Cooked deer, regular mushrooms and honey is my go to early food. Nice balance of hp and stam incase I get snagged and smacked few times before can get myself unstuck. Might try swapping for glowing shrooms see how I do.
Yes, just kiting him around with a bow and arrows, plenty of stamina. It's not too hard to dodge his smashing blows or rock throws. Stamina and plenty of arrows is the key.
Yesterday i went into the black forest for the first time. I strolled around and then saw a Log-Troll maybe 20 metres away between some trees... almost shat my pants. 🤣 Then dug a hole, lured him in and killed him with arrows. 💪🏼
21:00ish... Ya forgot about the part of Vid 1 where ya can intentionally burn your Food into Coal as a Coal Farming method as a band aid fix way to get Coal till the Kiln is up and running... so i'd contest that the Smelter is the actual more important first use of the Surtling Cores...
A helpful tip since I noticed your Elder fight went on for a while: the pillars by the altar are indestructible. Fighting the Elder at range is easy by los'ing (line of sight) his vine attack behind a pillar. Once he spawns roots, simply rotate to another pillar. Also, if you prefer melee, you can safely parry his stomp attack with a level 2 bronze buckler or higher. While all bosses are immune to stagger, this keeps you in melee range for immediate counter attack and significantly reduces the damage to an acceptable number (provided you are using best foods available at the time). Even if you miss a block, los the Elder around pillars until you are ready to get back to it. Good luck on the future videos!
From all the Valheim videos out there on UA-cam, i can say yours are ones that helped me the most. I was kinda stuck in the game after the first boss, had no idea how to get better resources to craft next level gear, but now i learned a lot! I really hope this series will continue, thank you!
Can I offer some suggestions? 1. Scout the area thoroughly. Mark all copper and tin deposits and all burial chambers. Maybe raid the chambers and take a little tin, but don't mine the copper yet. Grab all the blueberries, thistles, red and yellow mushrooms, and carrot seeds you can find. Once you have it mapped, decide where to mine. Ideally, the first mine is close to base. It is also great to find multiple copper clumped together and awesome if they are near a seacoast. 2. At your copper mine, build a stake wall palisade all the way around it to keep the dwarves away. Dig around the copper to expose it fully. Copper deposits are very deep. You can get sheltered under an overhang, so build a fire to renew rested buff. 3. Use a portal to take all the stone from your mine back to base. You will be able to use it after you get iron to build in masonry. 4. After your first couple excavations, you can get your cart and karve and go nuts on digging.
It’s crazy how much better it is than the raft. It almost feels like at least 2 upgrades over the raft. I use the karve more than any other ship in my own games.
Just played all night lastnight with my homie until we slayed eikthyr I can’t thank you enough for helping me out to say the least we were a little lost you gave me the tools to get him into it and show him that there’s more to it thanks bro 🍻
Gave Valheim a Shot ( Game pass is just incredible ) and I'm having a great time. I Love these kind of games and your first video was great guidance and helped me alot. Hope you continue this fresh playthrough be awesome to progress alongside you. Have everything I need for the first boss and I'm prepared for the Black Forest. Looking forward to what's ahead of us both.
RIght on! Grats on your progress!! I think you'll be out-progressing my videos, but we'll see what the future brings. I'm glad the video was helpful! Good luck with the Black Forest!
I agree with a person who commented before - get your bronze weapons and upgrade them, but stick to a full set of upgraded troll armour. Mobility is everything in this game, whether running to a place and back before the day is over, or kiting enemies with bow and arrow.
Thanks A LOT for this video. I've started a gameplay after barely playing the game, this time with my GF. We were kinda stuck after the first boss, this video is SO HELPFUL. Thank you very much
Hey thanks for the guides. As a new player I was getting really frustrated with the inadequate tutorial, and was thinking about quitting until I found your video. Big ups mate, you’ve earned a sub 👍
Thanks! I have a few smaller tip videos coming before the next big adventure. The next biome though is where things really start getting fun. I'm looking forward to it too!
I've been in the bronze age for 59.8 hours so far. I jumped in wanting to explore and take my time finding hidden treasures. Still have so much left to explore before I defeat the second boss. I freaking love this game!
When breaking a spawner I like to use my axe and fight the mobs while striking the spawner, usually you can break it very quickly before more spawn too
I'm really enjoying the series so far! I started playing valheim like 2 days ago with a group of friends, more experienced ones They offer to start a new world for me to try and learn the basics... but yeah, those knuckleheads are just way too hasty! I barely was getting used to the antler pickaxe, next thing I know, I already had some Fenrir Clothes with Troll armor and was helping them excavage the goddamn MOUNTAINS. Love my group of friends, they are tight, glad to be with those guys, but I barely had time to learn how bronze was made and what a swamp even was before they pull me to the mountains LMAO. Like, I don't mind, but going this fast is making me not get used to a role I want to do in the group, like we already have a builder, a farmer, a blacksmith... And we're going so far I just feel drag, I want to be of use damnit.
@@TheDarkMewtwo996 *scribbles in his note pad* “and how does that make you feel?” 😆 Jk. Glad you’re enjoying the series. I hope it helps. I also hope your friends don’t drive you away from the game. Hit me up if you have any questions.
there is a certain site, world seed map viewer ,that's what I searched for. You put your world seed in,press go and stuff generates. You can find biomes easily with that.
Have you seen part 3? ua-cam.com/video/aQwHWv5reeg/v-deo.htmlsi=DvvtfiJA_O5awQqF Is it better or not as good in your opinion? (I’ll accept feedback from anyone on this)
@@gamestar.nationI actually watched this after watching pt3 which I watched after your building tutorial. All three high quality and sat well with me but don't ask me to rank or critique them, I'm not qualified ;-) I wish you all the success, though. You've clearly put a lot of thought and work into them.
Only thing you need is the Bronze axe otherwise skip it and move on to Iron. The Troll armor should carry you to the Swamp and through it if you know what your doing. One key I can share is to take out Swamp spawners with your bow you can always find an angle and it will take 4-5 arrows depending on skill. If you happen to find a sertling spawner kill off the few and then dig all around it so they will die everytime they spawn. Then you can use that fire spawner to bait the Abominations over it and it will burn and kill them. At night the phantom ghosts will spawn or hover up high you want that because they drop chains.
@@gamestar.nation yeah I just now beat the elder, the bronze age was such a hassle. Everything from how long it took just to get all of the bronze, then I decided to actually build my main base not knowing that I probably should have waited until after I killed him...... Literally took me four days to gather all of the wood. Then I actually lost my items because there was a swamp between me and the black forest with the boss. And then after gearing up again to go get my items it started raining mid sail add a serpent spawned and I lost my shit again, going back a third time he was still there waiting for me but I managed to make it to land in time. After dying a bunch more times I finally got all of my gear and then finally made it to the boss only for trolls and gray dwarves to be there constantly messing with me...... And then I just decided screw it and opened a new world and fought him there
That's awesome! Thank you!! I have part 3 planned, but these videos are time-consuming and I work full time and raise a family. Plus I have other videos I want to cover as well. Please be patient though. I'll continue the series soon! Thanks again!!
@@gamestar.nation Good thing i'm Subbed to ya now so i'll find out when this eventually comes out. :) Mind ya i've already played partway into the game then took a Hiatus... but i'm still finding out things from these Vids I failed to discover myself the first time. :)

@@gamestar.nation On Hiatus from Valheim atm cause Starfield, but i'll be playing Valheim in the future again someday. :) Also, thank you so much for the Link to Part 3. UA-cam did indeed drop the ball on Alerting me to it even though i'm Subbed to ya, so I didn't know it had come out.
I couldn't travel 500 feet in the raft, i tried to take it along the cost and was taking so much damage from what looked like the water?? It wasnt even wavy
There are a lot of rocks just under the water if/when you’re close to shore, they’ll bust your boat apart quickly. Go out a little farther to avoid them… just not too far
Legit question, why does it require a roof over the crafting table sometimes (like after defeating the troll) but not others (like when you build the raft)
That’s actually a great question! You only need the roof to use the table directly, like to make a tool or weapon. It just needs to be in the vicinity of where you’re building if you’re going to craft structures. Make sense?
Awesome to hear! Glad you stuck with it. Thank you! There is a part 3, and I have to say, I like it better. You tell me what you think though… once you get to it. If you get to it! Either way, thanks again! Part 3- ua-cam.com/video/aQwHWv5reeg/v-deo.html
I have this huge chunk of copper I spent 30 minutes mining to expand it. (Hitting the dirt next to the copper exposes more copper, haven't hit a limit on how large you can make it) and after all that work two trolls wandered over and made that chunk of copper home. One is a one star so I'm going to need to probably get to the next area before I can come back and deal with them. So annoying. And in bronze armor you can't out run them so I have to avoid that section of my starter island. Still have another 3rd of the forest to hunt for copper in but still.
Even one-star Trolls will go down pretty easily if you bring enough Fire Arrows. Just eat your highest Stamina foods, load up on tons of Fire Arrows (at least 1 stack of 100, maybe more), and go snipe them down.
You have made my first foray into Valheim so much easier and understandable. The game I feel doesn’t really give you a whole of direction besides kill bosses and gather resources. I will say however, in the crypts, I’ve been lucky to get 6 surling cores and Ive done 5 crypts 💀 I feel my world is just a rough loot rng
I'm happy to be of help! I agree the game does a poor job of guiding players through it. As for the 6 cores in 5 crypts, that was how many you got from all 5, a total of 6?! If so, that's rough. I feel like I have pretty poor luck, but that even tops me.
I think I made an error in judgement 😅 Immediately after beating Eikthyr I went and tried to settle in the Black Forest. 7 hours and 150 deaths later, and I finally got my settlement done and secure. Haven't managed to mine any ore or get a Surtrling Core yet. Maybe it would have been smarter to just make small exploratory incursions into the Black Forest instead 😂 I died so many times I named my settlement "Lethalheim"
@@gamestar.nation thank you. I think part of the problem is I'm playing on an original Xbox One that's been through a lot. Getting like 1 frame every 20 seconds lol.
I'm so stuck in this game. I have level 3 Troll Armor and level 3 Bronze Armor. I hear level 4 of both is much better for the swamps but in order to get the work bench to level 4 you need to mine resources in the Swamp or Mountains? Also on Xbox this game gets bad Lag in the swamps which is crazy because I play alot of open world games with better graphics with no lag. Any Tips how to get better Armor before I venture into the swamps? I keep getting 1 or 2 shot killed. Please help. Great video.
I'm so sorry for the delayed response! I planned on making a quick video to answer this question but it has yet to see the light of day. Swamps are really tough early on and you really want to creep around unseen as often as possible, in the early stages at least. Use the troll armor to stay light on your feet but use the entire set to get the stealth bonus. Bring lots of arrows and have at very least the finewood bow. Eat quality foods with a good amount of stam, but I recommend leaning heavy on health over stam until you are more geared and comfortable with the swamp denizens. Also, bring a leveled bronze buckler and I recommend using a bronze mace. Most of the mobs of the swamp have a weakness to blunt damage. Only go in the daytime. Bring a hoe and flatted paths through the pools of water everywhere. Sneak around and plink off the draugrs and slimes from afar with your bow. When you get in to a sunken crypt using the swamp key, use ledges and obstacles to give you an advantage against any mobs inside. You can often dig just a chunk of muck out of the passageways inside and shoot the mobs through it when they cant even get to you. You can make short work of draugrs by parrying their attacks and then wailing on them with the mace. Just go cautiously and keep the monsters at a distance whenever possible. Good luck! (assuming you haven't already conquered the swamps by now)
@@gamestar.nation Well, paddling backwards is certainly a more precise method of steering at least. If I have to go through a rock infested waterway with the longboat I always reverse it through with no drifting off my intended line. Great for getting out of a harbor or docking area also until there's enough room to turn without scraping the shore and rocks all the time trying to only go forward.
Just started playing the game on console. I really can't express how much you guides helped me gain both the knowledge and confidence to progress further into the game. Thank you so very much. Subbed...keep up the great work. Ps really need next video to progress. 😊
Nice guide. not sure if I missed it, but for trolls Fire arrows are best vs the flint arrows. the burn effect has more damage. for dungeon crawling, there is a mallet that is useful which can kill multiple skelly on impact. Also effective using behind closed doors.
@@gamestar.nation update, I got full copper armor and built a big ship, got two smelters and a kiln, and got started on my Mansion! Im making so much progress thanks to you!
The spawn chance for sea serpents doubles at night and doubles during storms and those chances stack. So it is far easier to find them at night and during a storm than any other time. But they can spawn at any time and in any ocean biome. Thanks though!
hello, i'm back :) i haven't gotten around to doing this one but i'll try to leave more tips than last time. if you don't have a black forest nearby (which you should take into account when finding a base location, but don't build too close to it), sailing is usually the better option, as you can gather your mined ores into one chest near the boat and swim while being encumbered. this'll make getting ALL your resources back to your base in one trip. trolls are one of the scariest mobs to encounter early game so yea, i would just run and not even attempt to fight one if i'm spotted, and they can move pretty fast as well but you can just outwalk them funny enough. if you don't have at least bronze armor and a buckler, you can be dead in a few hits if you're not careful. stamina is VERY important but if you keep your distance and have enough arrows, you can kill a troll. by this point in the game, you should definitely have honey, deer meat, and boar meat for your foods. tin can be found near ANY body of water in the black forest. you'll need quite a bit more than you think. cauldron, butcher knife, armor upgrades, armor crafting, the fermenter uses tin or bronze. i've found a majority of copper deposits to be larger than they look. the largest copper node i've found has given me at least 5 stacks of copper, though i don't remember the exact amount. so if you don't see any other copper nodes nearby, always dig around your first node a bit! also a small tip, always make a shed building just big enough for a workbench. 4 walls and 2 corner roof pieces are enough to allow access for repairs. a chest or 2 for storage and a fire nearby to have the rested buff are nice to have, as having the rested buff allows your stamina to recharge faster, as well as much higher health regen when your food buffs are full and you're sitting down. burial chambers are essential for progression. you need to be really careful in these areas because you can easily die. the chamber is randomly generated so you can get a lot of cores or none at all. each path has the potential to lead to multiple more paths, creating a maze-like area. you need to conserve stamina in these narrow halls because you could walk into an area with a spawner. the most dangerous enemies in this area in my OPINION are the rancid remains and the GHOSTS. the rancid remains can poison you with its hits and do a lot of damage with each hit. they can also be found at 1-star and 2-star, making them significantly more dangerous. same for skeletons, but if you find a 1-star or 2-star archer skeleton, just run..there's no killing it because they can and will 1 shot you at this stage. if you get overwhelmed by a bunch of mobs, feel free to run back to the entrance and they won't be able to reach you on the slope with some weird exceptions. don't forget all the other loot while you're in there! not much to say about the smelting and weapon/armor crafting so i'm just going to say that this was another really well made guide for the black forest! chest storage can be made a lot more compact by stacking chests on top of each other with the use of the 1x1 floor pieces and turned sideways so that you're interacting with the side of the chest. movement speed penalty can be avoided by unequipping chest and pants and keeping your helmet/cape equipped. i recommend not making the bronze pickaxe because the antler pickaxe can carry you through to the swamp. bronze pickaxe isn't needed for anything that the antler can break. cooking food is fun, queen is my jam. karve is recommended to make ASAP, probably while you're first collecting copper/tin and surtling cores if you wanna spend a bit extra time. with boats, you can basically sail ALMOST entirely against the wind..the yellow area dictates where the wind will be going against your boat. you can be on the edge of the black part, where the wind will be fully against you and you won't be able to have the sails down. farming is also recommended to start the moment you make your cultivator because it'll allow you to start taming boars, as well as making much better foods with carrots. i'd tell you to turn the majority of your carrots back into seeds and once you've gotten a good amount of carrots going, you can start doing a 50/50, where you keep half of the carrots, and then turn the other half into seeds. fermenting takes 48 hours of INGAME time, not real life..missed a needed footnote there. the elder can be a pain because of everything that's going on. he has a melee attack, a ranged attack and he'll summon vines up from the ground and if you get too close, you'll start taking a LOT of damage. fire arrows are definitely VERY helpful in this fight. be on the move constantly but also conserve your stamina whenever possible and use the pillars as cover too. not much else to say about this boss fight except that it's very annoying. this has been a much longer comment than the last time haha. i'm very passionate about this game even though i don't play it a lot. i love valheim a lot and it's one of my most favorite games currently. i'm sorry if these are too long to read but i love helping new players as well and passing on what i know since i've been playing the game on and off since it released. hope this helps you and whoever else decides to read these very long comments
Thank you, i'd be more than happy to give even more advice for the swamp since i believe it's the big difficulty curve for the game once you first start exploring that biome
You should have put camp fires around the whole thing when you fight the boss and dig a hole under the platform to get it. He will burn up without doing anything.
Thanks for sharing that tip! While I was planning on putting one campfire down when he spawned to discuss that strat (until he ruined it by spawning on a pylon), generally speaking I’ve decided to fight the bosses in traditional fashion. In the future though I may cover the easy-mode strats for bosses. Especially Bonemass. Again, thanks for sharing the tip with everyone!
@@gamestar.nation here's how I took Bonemass. Use hoe to raise earth and make a pillar to stand on. Summon him, get on pillar and whale away with stagbreaker. Fast? No. Safe? Yes!
@@gamestar.nation oh, right! thanks. I got myself some Troll armor by now. I just have a really hard time finding dungeons now. cleared one and can't seem to find another one. I figured out, when you die inside a dungeon, you will lose the items. too bad.
Biggest Miss in that dungeon: take All the yellow mushrooms on the way out. 2nd big miss: place a fire just inside entrance to redo rest buff. Need to drop a fire Often generally, to dry off & refresh buff. 3rd is a choice. Club enjoyers might like using Stagbreaker to bash bone piles thru closed doors. They are also handy for finding treasure in the stone ship formations back in Meadows, and even breaking the chest without digging. Lol.
The best tip for bronze age is: craft a bronze mace, sword(or spear), buckler and pickaxe, upgrade the buckler and the pickaxe to max lvl(skip bronze armor), craft troll armor, learn to parry and the troll attack timings and obliterate them with parries, once you get the timings right even 2 or 3 at the same time are no match for you. Also, grow carrots, plant 50 to get 150 so you have enough till the next harvest. try not to use either raspberries or blueberries, you are gonna need them later so forage as much as you can now for these and shrooms eat honey instead. You're welcome
Like my fellow Xbox players your videos have been a tremendous help, if you could do an in depth mining video that would be great, I play solo and I know there has to be some decent cheese ways a solo like myself could take advantage of. Appreciate the effort!
@@gamestar.nation Ive been having issues finding iron, me and my friends just all hit the bronze age and we cant survive the draugr, but we need iron and have found 0 in the 2 weeks (game time) we've been looking.
@@brianwharton6153 Alright Brian, let me help you out. [SPOILER WARNING]. The best place to find iron is in the 'Sunken Crypts' in the swamp biome. The crypts are small stone buildings with a locked iron gate. You will need the swamp key dropped by the elder boss (black forest) to open them. Inside you will find piles of muck that, if you mine, you will get tons of scrap iron. Smelt these to get iron ingots. Iron is much easier to get than bronze. You can mind these muck piles outside of the crypts, but they are buriend randomly throughout the swamp and can be hard to find. You will battle many Draugr though. To survive, use level 3/4 troll armor (for agility), a bronze shield, [bronze helm is optional] and a bronze mace. Timing your parry is very important. You want to initiate your block the moment the draugr begins it's swing. This will parry the draugr, stunning it momentarily and allowing you to do critical damage. Using special attack helps when draugr is stunned. Take your time and wittle the draugr down. Alternatively, you can craft and use an atgeir, instead of a mace and shield. The special attack of the atgeir will whirlwind attack any mobs around you and push them away while stunning them. Perfect weapon for the swamps. Good luck!
If it’s decent, I store it in a chest or armor stand for backup in case I die. If it’s crap or I have a better backup, I run out away from any crafting table or campfire and toss it in the wild so it will delete after some time.
Whenever you find a hive and break it, it will drop a queen. If you mix that queen with some wood, you can create a new hive that will give you up to four honey at a time, all the time.
@@gamestar.nation oh mine didn't guess I need hit a few more. I want to thank you again. I'm finally getting into this game I've had for a few years an wanted help to learn it.
The first little dungeon you go into to get cores looked easy just some skeletons. So I went in one and got jumped by ghosts behind the first door and died 😢
Oh man, sorry to hear! Ghosts are nasty. They’re also kind of rare. They don’t drop anything and I believe are only found in those burial grounds. So basically they’re worthless for anything other than ruining your run.
a troll will drop 5 troll hide. Take these hides to an upgraded workbench and you should be able to make troll armor. Each piece requires 5 troll hide. The helm and cloak also need bones from skeletons
Yea, you'll find yourself grinding through a few chambers collecting cores. There's no guaranteed amount of them in any dungeon. I've found anywhere between 0-10 of them
Watching this wearing full and upgraded to tier 3 troll leather armor. Upgraded 2nd bow and upgraded bronze axe. Just farming up for bronze shield then i wanna smash the elders face to a pulp. Show me how to mangle this fool!
Ok, fair enough. I know the indicator implies that side wind is better, but you’ll spend a lot more time course-correcting. I’ve always found I get to my destination quicker with the wind at my back. I looked it up though, you’re correct, you get more wind push from the side. Thanks for the correction.
@@gamestar.nation It is based on real life sailing, where sidewind will also push you "faster than speed of wind" as people use to say. Of course, i know some people (like some of my friends) are more comfortable to just point at target destination. And, depending on distance you might get somewhere faster with tailwind, if it is close enough for the speed boost not making enough difference to make up for the strafing.
I've tried to play this game twice now and both times I've tried I couldn't get past the first 20 min of the game. The building mechanics in the game royally suck ass. Like it wants me to lay down a work bench but to use work bench I need a roof which I can't build because walls wont snap together. Just the whole building process just fights me and I just give up out of frustration. So many other games have better build mechanics then this game.
Sorry to hear that. Building can seem wonky at first. I think it loses a lot of people, actually. You can make some pretty cool stuff though once it clicks. See if this video helps. Let me know what you think ua-cam.com/video/NuTt1w8X98M/v-deo.html
I just want to let you know you are objectively wrong and that the building mechanics in this game are amazing. Works way better than something like fallout. You just have to learn them
@@OzoneDepleter Yea no sorry it's crap. When you compare it to games like Age of Conan or Shrouded its complete garbage. I spent 4 hours trying to figure out how to get roof to attach on to buildings and finally gave up in frustration and uninstalled the game. The mechanics are complete garbage. There games that are so much better at building then Velhiem.
finally, a video worthy to have the title "The Beginner guide". I like how you separated the bronze age, iron age all the advancements.
Thanks! I appreciate your appreciation 😊
Definitely my favorite part of the video and I managed to pull it off exactly the same way ☝🏾
31:00 Bronze Armor is a trap.
Wow, thanks for taking the time to help everyone out with these tips! I appreciate your effort!!
I agree with the Bronze armor assessment. I used to make it first chance, but I found the Troll Armor to be much more useful. All the way up to the Mountain biome. But...I'm just like that...don't recommend that for new players.
@@_viper2c_562 right. A lot of people are giving good advice [for veteran players], but the advice for new players runs a little different.
Thanks for sharing these great tips!
Then dug a hole, lured him in and killed him with arrows. 💪🏼
Nice, grats! 👍
Bro you’re a literal genius I’ll thank you in Valhalla 🦌🍻
21:00ish... Ya forgot about the part of Vid 1 where ya can intentionally burn your Food into Coal as a Coal Farming method as a band aid fix way to get Coal till the Kiln is up and running... so i'd contest that the Smelter is the actual more important first use of the Surtling Cores...
touché 😉
Thank you so much for sharing this!
From all the Valheim videos out there on UA-cam, i can say yours are ones that helped me the most. I was kinda stuck in the game after the first boss, had no idea how to get better resources to craft next level gear, but now i learned a lot!
I really hope this series will continue, thank you!
That's awesome to hear! Thank you!!
Glad the videos were of help

These videos are awesome thank you valheim just released on console and your first video helped me defeat the first boss day 1
Awesome! Glad to hear it!!
Spread the word 😉
Welcome to Valheim!!
Thank you for your great suggestion!
Ripper from season 2 of Tiger King here. Just started playing this game, and appreciate your detailed videos. Keep up the YT grind!

Wow, thanks for the kind words!
The Karve is such and upgrade I thought I could conquer the world when I first sailed it 😂💯
It’s crazy how much better it is than the raft. It almost feels like at least 2 upgrades over the raft.
I use the karve more than any other ship in my own games.

Rock and stone @Black Doom 96
You *really* should've put down a fire and get rid of the wet debuff and get the rested buff before you started that troll fight 😅

I agree with a person who commented before - get your bronze weapons and upgrade them, but stick to a full set of upgraded troll armour. Mobility is everything in this game, whether running to a place and back before the day is over, or kiting enemies with bow and arrow.
I agree with your agreement!
Great advice 👍
Thank you!
Thanks A LOT for this video. I've started a gameplay after barely playing the game, this time with my GF. We were kinda stuck after the first boss, this video is SO HELPFUL. Thank you very much

When breaking a spawner I like to use my axe and fight the mobs while striking the spawner, usually you can break it very quickly before more spawn too
@@jacobclement7707 if you ever get bored, just run around the spawner, keeping it between you and them and let them destroy their own spawner! 😁

Yea, for sure. Take your time. This game kind of boils down to building homes and bases. I love it though!
I'm really enjoying the series so far!
I started playing valheim like 2 days ago with a group of friends, more experienced ones
They offer to start a new world for me to try and learn the basics... but yeah, those knuckleheads are just way too hasty!

Tip for trolls. They take more dmg if you shot them in the head!
💯correct!! Thanks for that 👍
You’re a legend. Thank you
Thank YOU!
Thanks for sharing these tips! 👍

@@mickygriggs this ^^
Legit question, why does it require a roof over the crafting table sometimes (like after defeating the troll) but not others (like when you build the raft)
That’s actually a great question! You only need the roof to use the table directly, like to make a tool or weapon. It just needs to be in the vicinity of where you’re building if you’re going to craft structures. Make sense?
Such a detailed and entertaining video well woth the watch even if it took multiple stages for me to finish it😅
Awesome to hear!
Sorry for the late response. Were you ever able to get the copper?
@@Darkkfated agreed. Thanks for your response, Dark. I appreciate you offering help. 👍
You have made my first foray into Valheim so much easier and understandable. The game I feel doesn’t really give you a whole of direction besides kill bosses and gather resources. I'm happy to be of help! I agree the game does a poor job of guiding players through it. As for the 6 cores in 5 crypts, that was how many you got from all 5, a total of 6?!

Good luck! (assuming you haven't already conquered the swamps by now)
I have found that sailing backwards in the raft and karve seems to be faster than paddling forward with no wind.
Hmm… I’ve never been able to sail backwards 🤔
@@gamestar.nation Well, paddling backwards is certainly a more precise method of steering at least. If I have to go through a rock infested waterway with the longboat I always reverse it through with no drifting off my intended line. Great for getting out of a harbor or docking area also until there's enough room to turn without scraping the shore and rocks all the time trying to only go forward.
Just started playing the game on console. I really can't express how much you guides helped me gain both the knowledge and confidence to progress further into the game. Thank you so very much. Subbed...keep up the great work.

Nice guide. not sure if I missed it, but for trolls Fire arrows are best vs the flint arrows. the burn effect has more damage.
for dungeon crawling, there is a mallet that is useful which can kill multiple skelly on impact. Also effective using behind closed doors.

I haven't confirmed but supposedly sea serpents only come out at night and during storms
Thanks Traylon! I appreciate your effort, as always 👍
Fast? No. Safe? Yes!
@@nelsonhemstreet3568 very nice! I normally build a platform up high and fire frost arrows into him. I like the pillar though!
how do you get the cultivator and bronze pickaxe

What i also notice, we cant upgrade cauldron on xbox?! I cant progres... you have same problem?
You will need to find a vegetable form the swamp (don't want to spoil it) in order to unlock the upgrade.
hey, how do you find leather boots? I only got a helmet so far, the legs and the body leather armor i need to craft. but what about the boots?
There's no actual boots. They just come as part of the legs/pants.
@@gamestar.nation oh, right! thanks. I got myself some Troll armor by now. I just have a really hard time finding dungeons now. cleared one and can't seem to find another one. I figured out, when you die inside a dungeon, you will lose the items. too bad.
@@rottengrudge you don't lose your items. They're placed in a gravestone. I've died in dungeons and recovered my gear
@@tjman1095 weird, i couldn't find my gravestone in that dungeon. might have been bugged out then
@@tjman1095 ah, indeed, i didn't lose them. the gravestone was in the ceiling of the dungeon, lol...
Lol.
Pick up those yellow shrooms! Great food!
Good point!
Im brant kulski and i love the vlogs mane
Thanks Brant!
Thanks for the great tip 👍
Like my fellow Xbox players your videos have been a tremendous help, if you could do an in depth mining video that would be great, I play solo and I know there has to be some decent cheese ways a solo like myself could take advantage of. Appreciate the effort!
Glad to hear the video was helpful. I’ve got a few tricks to share. Keep an eye on the channel!
Good luck!
If you hold cntrl and click an item it automatically moves it from your inventory to storage or vice versa
What to do with the old equipment?
If it’s decent, I store it in a chest or armor stand for backup in case I die. If it’s crap or I have a better backup, I run out away from any crafting table or campfire and toss it in the wild so it will delete after some time.
Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
"D" being your interact key hurts my brain. 😂
I use a Razer Tartarus to play, not the keyboard. It bothered quite a few people. I have since changed my key bindings as to not hurt anymore brains 🙃
How do you get ore through the portal?
You're not supposed to be able to, but I'm working on the video that will explain how. Stay tuned- It drops this week!! (can't explain here)

Is there a hive we can make I only got one honey from a hive
Whenever you find a hive and break it, it will drop a queen. If you mix that queen with some wood, you can create a new hive that will give you up to four honey at a time, all the time.
@@gamestar.nation oh mine didn't guess I need hit a few more. I want to thank you again. I'm finally getting into this game I've had for a few years an wanted help to learn it.
@@crazlady8648 yea, for sure. Glad to be of help. Really glad to hear you’re enjoying the game now. Or, at least, you’re starting to. 👍
So basically they’re worthless for anything other than ruining your run.
my valheim go--to-guy!
Dang, bro! You didn't have to make me blush 😉
Most of this guide i have already done it and only want to craft armor Troll armor and cannot for some reason.
a troll will drop 5 troll hide. Take these hides to an upgraded workbench and you should be able to make troll armor. Each piece requires 5 troll hide. The helm and cloak also need bones from skeletons
I just did this burial chamber and there was only four of those red cubes.
Yea, you'll find yourself grinding through a few chambers collecting cores. There's no guaranteed amount of them in any dungeon. I've found anywhere between 0-10 of them
great videos thank you
Glad you like them! Thank YOU! I'm currently recording part 3 (I take way too long to make these 😒)

You sound familiar. You used to play Dayz?
Sadly, no. I always meant to, but never got around to it.
Thanks!
Thank YOU!
Back of the ship is NOT the best to go fost. You want side wind for that.
Where's the guide ?
Sorry, not sure what you’re asking. I appreciate the comment though. Always helps the videos 👍

Looking for a squad to play with
Any luck in your search?
