Hi Hiccup, if I am reading the wiki right, "The ground is shaking" troll raid activates once you have killed both the elder and a troll. The only raid that will be enabled after defeating Eikthyr will be the greydwarf raid. The Troll raid can also appear at any time after the requirements are met, it does not go away after defeating any bosses. Looking forward to the playthrough!
First thing I did when I saw that Ashlands dropped (besides playing it myself, ofc), was coming to your channel to see if there was something new. Happy to see there is!
@@CoopsNME Yeah, sure, it is a World Modifier, I just thought it was on by default. Honestly, I didn't pay enough attention when he was showing it to see if it was on or off, so I can't remember. Not gonna bother going back to the video, I'll just check it next time I play. At any rate, it would be interesting to have it on, since it would be a bit more realistic and a bit more challenging to use it, even if it's not on by default.
@@xantishayde-walker4593 yeah Im not disagreeing with you there, I think it's a fun mechanic to introduce. Just wanted to make you aware it's something you need to toggle on if it's something you want to play with
u can use the hammer with a directional buildpiece like the wood wall 26° for example as a sort of makeshift compass, just find north, orient the piece in that direction and maybe place one near ur base on a post, then when u need to travel u just pull the hammer out and orient the 26° wall piece to match the one you placed earlier and follow it like a compass. i also find it pretty fun to draw my own map.
Tip for sea travel without a map or portals, make quick structures along coastlines with something pointing in the direction of home. I just use wood beams in the shape of an upside-down L Later when you have other bases/outposts I add color coordinated elements pointing in the required direction. Its tricky to keep up with it, but you just have to build while you still know how to get home.
Another tip, plant tall trees. (And clear others.) For my first Mistlands base, it was on Plains - so I planted Fir and Pine trees around it, then I could see it even thru some of the fog.
The no map is killing me. With settings that difficult, the map on is gonna be a game changer. I know you like your challenges, but MAN OH MAN I would never play that hahaha. Still, glad to watch you go through it. Always a good time!
I’m back again, Hiccup you’re a much brave Viking than I living without portals yeah that’s easy but no map would ruin me 😂, keep up the amazing content man I’ll be here the entire time again been waiting for this season for ages
I could probably live without portals, but no map? Yeah, that one would slay me for sure. (er, in a manner of speaking. We've already been slain, after all...)
Missed job one. Build a fire so you can get the rested buff. Even before you build a house you can hit, I believe it's X, and you will sit down next to the fire and gain rested.
A bad side effect of deleting the map is you lose the wind indicator, so its impossible to know if deer are downwind of you when stalking them. I can't imagine you don't have that indication while sailing, but I guess we'll see...
Well CRAP. Hmm, that means I need to get my backside back into Valheim right immediately. Fire spread, eh? Curious. That's going to change some of the early architecture up a bit, isn't it! Is there also DAUB though? Going to be dang difficult to use a wooden chimney otherwise.
so glad to see you back! with the deer, even if youre sneaking, they can smell you, make sure the wind isnt blowing toward the deer if youre sneaking up to them you should build small posts along the path to store your items, and fires to light your path
UI Help: when you’re in the menu and moving the slider to select how much of a stack you want to move, you can type the number of that item you want to move. If the stack has 50 and you only want 15, just type 1 5 when the slider is up. This works great for when you want just a few of something.
Good Luck! Playing Noble Fates (kinda like voxel Rimworld with z-levels) and your settlement gets visitors you can try to recruit or trade with. Last night I got a visit from the Hiccup Wanderers.
You don't need to worry about trolls till you've killed one. Not gonna do a link on your space but I know JP did a whole deep dive into the mechanics of what triggers troll raids 3 weeks ago, might be worth watching. I don't think there are any spoilers for Ashlands in it, but to save you watching it and possibly spoiling stuff, it boils down to, on regular lone player worlds like i assume yours is (i.e. not servers/player-based worlds etc), troll raids start after killing the elder AND killing a troll AND logging out - after you log back in after *both* those events happening, the ground is shaking will start up. So you don't need to worry about that as soon as you've taken down Eikyhr - just "the forest is moving" with all the greydwarves etc. BTW You're not the only one that loves those stone circles. I found one in a big meadow on the starter island, sloping down to the sea with an oak tree at the back of it. gorgeous. Built a house in the middle and after getting the pickaxe, started digging out around it. Right now there's the stone circle with a huge pit around it, then a walled garden behind that linked by a bridge, then a 'production' area behind that, also linked with a bridge, all with massive deep and wide trenches around it. Trolls? eff orrrrrrrrrrrf. *yawn* :D Even built a big platform on top of them once for a portal hub, topped with a geodesic dome. That was fun, that was in a world where I just went mad with building.... need to go back to that and experiment with all the new build stuff some time!
p.s. if it makes you feel any better, just earlier today my husband set his house on fire... with a lot of muttering about fire modifiers being a bad thing....
It makes sense to wait on Eikthyr, it will pay in the long run to be more tactical. Even though it's a ways off before you get to Ashlands, I am thinking omg the Mistlands and the Queen fight on this difficulty!!! Not something I would do, but looking forward to see how you progress with these settings. It's gonna be a fun ride :)
Navigation will be tricky. If you need to make a makeshift compass, remember the voxels align in the four cardinal directions, plus NE-SW. you can dig or fill a small mound, see where the sun rises or sets to get east and west, and boom, have a compass
Haven't checked but i think when you choose "no map" setting the map should be only available to view through "cartographer table" or whatever it was called 😅
I think you only get the ground is shaking raids after killing Eik AND after you kill your first troll, so if you don't kill a troll until your base is safe, you should be ok. Maybe? lol Good luck anyway Hiccup. Looking forward to this whole playthrough.
It's the Elder and a troll. But it doesn't have to be killed by a player. Any troll death in the world counts, even if it was killed by mobs in a faraway biome
Found this video/channel by chance. Love valheim and the intro and upbeat start to this video is amazing. Looking forward to checking out more of your content!

Almost just started your journey to the Miss Land series without realizing there was a more recent current one 🤟 first timer! Digging your playthrough style so far
Oooh, new season. I'll add some comments this time! 1. I think you're wrong about things getting easier as you go, I think with hardcore, later in the game will get harder and harder since the game expects you to build up more and more skills but dying will reset you to 0. I guess we'll see! 2. I hope this playthrough gets you out of the habit of not having rested constantly, it's nice for skill gain (which I bet will be super important) and having less stamina will get you killed against the x2 spawn rates. 3. As soon as you get a pick, get just enough for a karve and then bugger off back to your hidey hole. Then you can get your trusty finewood bow (axe optional, bash a beech log into a birch tree over and over, but you'll need extra fine wood for your boat so it might be a bit tedious) and the ability to go sailing (at a non-painful rate) for your fancy abyssal razor, which with x2 resource should be really cheap (for the sake of backup kits) and make you way more ready for trolls and rushing the elder. 4. Fortunately, troll event spawns after the elder dies, not after eikthyr. Unfortunately, the greydwarf swarm is surprisingly brutal; be ready to get swarmed by endless greydwarves that all hit like trucks and shamans that actually hurt. I'm writing this as I'm "conveniently away" from my mining outpost/2nd base that is currently swarmed by greydwarves.
The fire spread is always in the ashlands the toggle just makes it global also idk if you know this but clicking a vegvisir turns your camera towards the boss but if you manually turn it will cancel

I would say you are likely going to need to do outposts and alot of them. So small huts or whatever to drop stuff at close to what you are searching/stopping. I would say portals on the next lower setting be a better option with how tough everything is already. And yes you reset, no skills and no items. Trolls will be a b!tch constantly, same with spawners!
I really wish Valheim had more rpg elements and a larger variety of gear. Maybe a light rarity system that fits into the vanilla game, like weapons that do +X% blunt DMG or slashing DMG.
