This here is why I love watching guys like you, Ray, A-Rod, Eric etc. You guys share so much knowledge and are all down to earth. I is a little more smarter now 👊
Sometimes I wish guys like you and Ray would be closer to Oklahoma. I know there probably are good shops to go to in my area but you both are good down to earth mechanics. Have a great week!
That happened to my Buick and I solved the problem with a $25 replacement of that valve and driving to the auto parts store to clear the codes. I felt like such a hero.
No the customer told me the symptoms on the phone and I pretty much already had it diagnosed over the phone and then when he got there it just made it that much cheaper on him when I found out I was correct
Thank you so much, I have a 2014 Jetta and as much as I work on my own cars this vehicle is completely foreign to me and I run into a lot of problems I can’t and don’t have time to get too. Everytime I get gas it shuts off and has a hard time starting or sometime wont even start at all. Didn’t realize how easy this actually was and hoping this will fix the issue, I’d hate to get rid of my Jetta girl I’ve had her for a long time (7 years), thank you😁
But Scotty Kilmer said a problem with the evap system can't effect how the car runs. He has to be right because his scanner is twice the size of yours.
Rainman Ray just had one of these recently. Previous shops had fired the parts cannon replacing almost the entire vapor system, including a new gas tank. Ray found the "new" Dorman purge valve wasn't closing, got another new one that tested fine and problem solved. "Just because it's new doesn't mean it's good."
Hi Rich , had a fella tell me to fill up with nozzle on its lowest setting . To keep the vapor from going into your tank. Set it to the lowest setting will help . Especially during the summer months. And always try to fill up in the mornings . Hope this helps .👍🇺🇸🚗
Brings me back to childhood memories in early 80's watching my father press on the gas pedal a thousand times in a row on his 1972 Chrysler when on a super hot summers day - the carberator would lock up because of vapor lock. Yea, at age 7 y/o my job was to hop out of the back seat- open the hood and remove the top part of the air cleaner and stick a pen down the carberator to keep butterfly flap open until it started. Smh knowing that taking the bus or walking to school was probably easier..
Excellent video. I have a 2007 Jetta with 218,000 miles. Runs good. Maybe I should change this for preventative maintenance, lol. Only problem is drivers door switch won’t lock drivers door. Door ajar light stays on and bell chimes and dome lights stay on while driving. Was told wiring harness was too short and a wire is losing connection. Changed switches, but didn’t work. One day I’ll have to investigate, lol.
Do SAE 30 and 10W30 have the same viscosity at 100C? I would assume an engine running SAE 30 in the desert would not be damaged by the oil being too think during startup because it's always hot. You can get SAE 30 oil that is made for tractors that apparently has more additives, that's why I'm asking.
I just had that go bad on my 2000 Daewoo Leganza,,all the new aftermarket ones was made in China, ended up finding some NOS ones in my parts area & they was the good old USA made AC Delco units ,put one in & everything ran perfectly & starting was easy, I previously had issues with the cheapo Chinese knockoff ones ,but never had issues with older Delco or Wells made parts
I also have a 'loose fuel cap' and been getting the same issue recently. ill def change the valve asap. But Im thinking also I should get a new gas cap because if its loose or not fully tight im assuming that also cant be good for the gas tank?
Hi, I have a 2005 Jetta Tdi, does it also have a purge valve? If so where is it located? I have problems starting after I get fuel. After that no problems starting until next fill up..
Do you think the D1 Lite is a good scanner and is fast enough, compared to other scanners in it's price range? The Thinkscan was too slow, but a good scanner, from what I've seen? Thanks.
hell yeah,we do a lot of these here, specially fords and jeeps,in these VW’s deoebds where is build have to use bosch otherwise they will come back in couple weeks for same issue
I had this problem in my VW group car too... In my case it would have trouble starting when the car was parked in the sun for a long time... It took like 10 tries to start, then after starting once it would start fine
I don't know if this is my problem, (2010 jetta mk5 2.5) I do have trouble starting it after gas but not only that, also it starts fine on cold (cold temp) morning (really early), but like after 9am it doesn't start when "cold" (cold as when it hasn't been ran). It has also turned off while driving (this makes me doubt this is it). Any opinion?
Thanks, I haven’t gotten this condition yet, but I probably will. Description should say P2096 not P0296. How sensitive is the evap canister to overfilling the gas tank? I have been using gas cans to drive one vehicle to the gas station. I take home an additional 20 gallons to fill my wife and sons’ cars. A couple of times, I couldn’t hear the gas filling and accidentally over filled the tank.
Yeah I'll fix it I have a thousand different people on here asking questions and I'm still trying to put out videos answer everybody and I don't necessarily do things perfectly and the sad thing is people on here are so easy to correct but they're not so easy on here to put out their own videos
Yeah overfilling definitely causes a lot of problems I've spoke about this many times before I have some videos that have been some of my most viewed video since I've been on the internet about overfilling your tank but I guess I could talk about that in the morning too just as a reminder to people leave that as a main topic for in the mornings video
not related to this video but I have a question, '19 3.5 ecoboost oil change milage only? or milage and months, I have just over 6 months but at just 3000 miles. Oil monitors shows 35%
Replacing my brothers today. Unfortunately they don’t sell just the n80 valve for his my20. It’s the whole assembly. I’ll decide whether to take it apart or replace the assembly.✌️ PO44200 code
Had a question! Really need help cause ford is no help. 2020 ford f150 lariat and the fuel pump fuse blown twice already and can’t find the problem. Do you think it might be a grounding wire and where can I find it or which one should I check. Please!! Any advice would help me.
Can this cause a long start every time? My f150 cranks for 4-8 seconds every single time i start it, and maybe 1 in 25 times it dies, but always starts on the second crank.
I didn't hear it mentioned but these valve can fail prematurely due to people TOPPING off the tank. By topping off you're over filling and it will cause raw fuel be introduced into the evap system. DON'T TOP OFF!
I mentioned this stuff all the time I tell people all the time topping the fuel tank off constantly trying to reach this magical number when the vehicle pops at the pump and people keep filling it up it does this type of damage I don't know what else to do I've said it before I've said it many times
I told my mom to stop topping off her tank after attempting to install a purge valve on her ecoboost Escape. I was like nope, that's for the dealer/mechanic to do! What a nightmare on those.
I mean I can see how that would be an issue I don't know why you're calling it that name it's actually the evaporative emission canister or the charcoal canister I've never heard it called what you're calling it maybe you can educate me on why you're calling it that maybe it's called something else where you're from but that's not the name that I've ever used for it and most of the time it's not because that condescent is coming apart and ending up in the valve so I'm not sure where you found that but that's not actually my experience so I'm going to have to say it's false on my end
@@FordBossMe I confused my words. The leak detection pump also called the DMTL in the Volkswagen world is the pump that is build in to the charcoal canister or evap canister. The canister when purchased at the dealership it comes as complete kit. The canister and the pump. nah bro taking tokes off the damn purge valve😂
Thanking for tasting gasoline vapor to demonstrate purge valve function.
It's not really that big of a deal
I had same issue in 14 Fusion Purge. Rich can filling up a tank in a 08 F150 kill a sending unit and produce CIL? Filled up and …boom it’s dead.

It's pretty fast but
You got to give me some time with it because I'm new to it
Plus, from people over filling their car when the pump shuts off
I used to do that years ago because I didn't know what it did to the system. Now I know better and I tell friends about it.
Just had to deal with this on my 2011 mazda cx7. It was actually the first check engine light I've ever had on this car.

more than likely you got some kind of wiring problem or you need to install a new fuel pump
No issues with the fuel pump thinking it might be wiring or short somewhere blowing the fuel pump fuse

P0496 is the lead detection tank full of carbon particles and that can also clog the valve and throw P0456.
