I just made this cake today for my son’s bday, I topped it with ganache so I can write the greetings. Its really delicious!!! Best tuxedo i’ve ever tasted. Not too sweet but very rich of course. My family loved it!! Thank you Tatyana!!!

You're welcome! :) I honestly have not tried using pectin for cheesecakes before. I've used agar gelatin and that works really well :)

Hi! Yes, you can make this cake ahead of time. I recommend keeping it in the pan and in the refrigerator until you're ready to serve. Don't take it out of the pan too early.

+Tuppy Tan Hi! I do recommend adding the sour cream. If you don't have it, try adding Greek yogurt instead. Yes, you can replace the gelatine with agar gelatin. Use the same amount and follow the same instructions. Make sure it's dissolved before adding!

Like a coffee-flavored syrup? You can probably make one with a simple sugar syrup (1 cup water, 1/2 cup sugar) and add some instant coffee to the syrup and stir until dissolved
Is the gelatin absolutely needed? If it is, is there any substitute?
+Nurunnahar K. You definitely need to add gelatin or the cake will not set. You can replace the gelatin with "agar agar" which is a plant-based gelatin :)

I haven't tried this recipe with agar but it should definitely work. I would use about 1 tsp agar gelatin per layer
Can I ask you a question if you dont have a heavy cream what will I substitute?
regular whipping cream will also work; other than that, there isn't really a good substitute. The cream needs to be fluffy to get the right texture.

I don't recommend making it completely without any setting agent. Have you tried using agar gelatin? It's a great plant-based gelatin alternative :)

Im soooo sad :((( There's so many cakes I want to make but can't because of the gelatin problem. Isn't there ANY alternative which actually works and gives me the same result. In your peach mousse cake recipe, I used agar agar powder (which I heard works the same) and the whole cake melted when I released the pan. Now, I really want to make this for my party tomorrow but don't know what I can use instead of gelatin. I need a vegan option :(
+Soha Q You can use agar-agar, but the amount would be different and the texture would be different.
+Soha Q i find the carrageenan and gum blend vegan gelatin to be better for this purpose than agar. There is an Australian brand called 'Queen' that make a product called 'Jel-it-in' that works great. Also there are many no bake cheesecake recipes that do not require gelatin.
+Soha Q The only plant-based gelatin I have used is agar agar but it needs to be prepared differently. Soak it in water first in a small pot, then heat it over low heat and simmer it for a few minutes to dissolve, then use it in the recipe

I wondered why I hadn't given this video a like, even though the cake looks so stunning. Now I know. Its because there's too much cream cheese and sour cream in it, and I don't like white chocolate, and I'm really unhappy about the kind of toffees that are way way too chewy and stick in your teeth. But the cake does look stunning.
Will you marry me? I'll love you as much as I love sweet Tuxedo cake.
