@@WeekendShedHead You're very welcome my friend you do a great job and I am subscribed buddy have been for a long time. Is great to hear from you my friend
I bought one of those about 5 years ago. It was a great investment and got me completely hooked on turning. I turned a few pretty nice bowls on it and learned so much. The tool rest on my first one broke after a year or so and I contacted Lidl Customer Service. They sent me a whole new lathe ( pretty excellent service!). I've been able to upgrade to a more substantial machine (a small second hand Jet lathe) but I still use the tools from my Lidl lathe. I hope you have as much fun as I did with it 🙂
That’s great to hear , ive seen some people make their own tool rests, I’ve always been impressed the the parkside range.. let’s see how this one does. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated Cheers Rob
Well, bud, I'm no expert.... BUT "Thats probably the worst beginners lathe you could have bought!" 🤣hehe. I'm just back from a 5 day workshop where I got to play on a real one as an afterthought to my a actual project.. and I think I'm hooked! my draper mini lathe has been sat in the back of the workshop for getting on 18 months because I was just too scared to put wood in it......going to actually use it I think! 😀👍 hopefully the parkside will work well enough to do some spindle turning for small table legs! or candle holders...and get you moving up to your next ( good) lathe?!😀👍
😂😂 😉 you’re probably right mate.. and now you have been on a course, your about 100 notches up from me 😂👍 glad to hear your hooked.. my thoughts are I’ll go for something cheap ‘dip my toe in the water’ see if I get hooked ! Gotta a feeling I will, but a few candle stick holders for now will be my limit ! , let’s see where it takes us .. what can go wrong 🫣😂 cheers Loz , Rob
Nice to see you back Rob, I'm sure you'll have great fun with the lathe even if it is not the perfect machine, as you say you can always upgrade later if you feel the need. I'm looking forward to seeing how you get on with it !
Always good to see you in my feed Rob- Remember ANY lathe is better than NO lathe! Just take lighter cuts. Can’t wait to see you having some fun on it! 😃👍
Kind words John, thanks my friend! That is very true.. I’m on the lathe ladder 😃 candle stick holders to start… gotta feeling I’m going to be hooked🫣😂 cheers Rob
Hey Rob, everyone is an expert at the end of their keyboard. Everybody has to start somewhere and you’ve bought it if you hate it you might not buy another. If you love it and you found something new in your life then it’s a great beginning. Can’t wait to see what you make of it, and if you get the bug yet
Hi mate, wise words, but each to their own.. that’s what makes the world so interesting, I’ve gotta feeling this lathe might be ok for what I need 🫣👍 😂cheers Rob
Hey Rob.....Thats a brilliant tool for the money.....I will try and get one at some point....its just handy to have.....for small bits i can use my metal lathe....but would love a wood one one day!!....looking forward to the unpacking and use vid......welcome back!! thanks!!
Hi Rob, back to reality mate, £69 for a lathe not bad and you got to start at the beginning and for the price can't go wrong, like you said you can always upgrade in time. The main thing is to have fun and make some thing. Catch you soon, Take care
Never had one and probably never will ...they are the worst thing out there for turning Seen so many break on Facebook UK woodturning group I use a Record Power Herald and can't fault it It's got loads of torque and that's what I missed with my old lathe 😊

A couple of good channels to watch in regards turning is mike Holton wood crafts and Colwin way good luck hope you enjoy it👍
I’ll definitely give them a watch rod , good call and thanks mate
That’s a great deal I think! I am in the same boat as you sir! Lots I want to do but busy with family, etc. I gotta push out a video though.
We just have to prioritise best we can mate, but the workshop shed it always there when we need it ! Cheers Rob
70 quid to have a go, why not. My guess is it’ll be fine. You probably get 40/50 quid for anyway when you upgrade.
Same as my thoughts mate, how long before I upgrade though 🫣😂 cheers
