First time viewing your videos here and thoroughly enjoyed it just my kind of channel, label maker is now on my list of must haves as I'm fed up doing my own in hyrogliphics see can't even spell it lol😅
The hollow wall anchor is a great bit of kit ! Myself and my partner moved into our place last year and its been so handy with installing shelfs, hooks into doors, and securing shelfing units to the wall in my tool room. I've found the best practise to be, drill your hole, insert the anchor into the hole and extend the tool, tighten the screw back down and extend the tool again to ensure the fitting is firmly in place. Then remove the screw from the fitting and fix your furniture !
I bought one of these kits with the intention of fitting some shelf brackets to a steel-frame structure but the 0.8mm steel was too thin for the anchor to grip. However, they work fine when used as intended!
One thing to consider with label makers is the quality of the labels. I started out with a basic Brother which uses the M-K tapes which is fine for basic stuff. But.. they don't like heat (or even getting warm really) and start to peel, they yellow under UV light and are not water resistant. I then got a more advanced Brother that uses the TZe tapes and wow, they are amazing. The laminated tapes are heat resistant, UV resistant and water resistant (to a point). The main task I wanted was to label 13A plug tops and the old tapes came off within days, the laminated TZe tapes just work. I do also have a NIIMBOT B1 and I got mine largely for larger format labels (30x40mm), but they suffer some of the problems of the budget labelers and not UV resistant. Nice black on clear large format labels though!
Love your content, it's like we're all chilling in your shed :) Also it reminds me of stuff I've bought and put somewhere "safe" ;) I had the Dymo - bought from Aldi I think, the non-QWERTY keyboard was driving me Bodmin so I bought a Brother PT E300 that has a QWERTY keyboard on it and gave the Dymo to my nephew. I bought one of those Niimbot printers last year, then at some point I messed up the phone app so it wouldn't work and put it to one side. I have a case for it and yes you can get various label sizes. There is two different apps for it which confused the hell out of me for a while :) I must go back to it at some point. If you set up a free account you can store the various labels you make and reprint them from the app, that is a handy feature. I absolutely love your dust catcher for the drill, until you added the crisp packet I thought it was a 90 degree guide :) That would make a great idea for a 3D printed solution too, not that I'm obsessed with printing, I can stop any time I want, I just don't want to ;) :) Was in the garden today doing some boards for my fence and using a printed jig to mark out the holes :)
Big thanks for your comments and sorry for the delay.. really pleased you like my videos .. sounds like the brother label maker is no. 1 , thanks again , cheers Rob
@@WeekendShedHead If I'm doing a batch of labels the Brother is perfect, for one offs the Niimbot works out better because of the individual labels so there's no waste. I went back to it after watching this video and either they have fixed something or I just didn't mess it up this time, but now it works fine :)
Thanks Rob, that's a great deal on the hollow wall anchors - have a look at the price of genuine "Fischer" fittings by comparison ! These fittings are very handy but a word of warning to anyone using these with a dry-lined solid wall - check the depth from the plasterboard to the block wall behind as this is often only 10-12mm so the total depth including board and skim may be less than 25mm - if you tighten down the screw hard (like you did) with no batten or item to be secured , the screw can hit the wall and start to push the fitting ( and a chunk of plasterboard ) out away from the wall. I found this to my cost fitting some metal Ikea wall brackets that were only 3-4mm thick - made a right mess - had to chisel out and re-plaster, then re-driill and use conventional plugs ! The label printer is a fun little gadget, I have seen other reviews of it and they had issues with the print fading over time - this may have been due to it being on plant labels in a greenhouse though, so maybe alright in a darkish workshop !
Hi Rob, We must be brothers from a different mother 😂. I too have the exact same Dymo with an abundance of tape to be used but purchased the NIIMBOT unit. The only thing, do NOT buy Tumu coloured tape as it isn’t recognised by NIIMBOT unit though it says suits D model labellers. I have had it for 2/3 weeks and still haven’t charged it. I look forward to your follow up on this. As for the wall anchors I drill my hole and use the cordless to tighten the anchor under 2mins job done, IMO the tool is finicky and a bit of a gimmick. Enjoyed the tutorial 👍🏻🇦🇺
Hey Rob....... thanks as always for the content.....I like the little digital printer........your invention is good...I couldnt be bothered but I can see why you did it.... see you on the next one...thanks
I bought a very similar label printer in January and haven't needed to charge it since the first time I used it! I've gone through all the labels that came with it and have started with some refills, so have printed a fair few. The batteries seem to last forever 😎
My label makers still the old original , dial , turn click , turn , click ..... Takes ages . Hence my shed !! Love the invention , that really is what it's all about .
I also have an old school dymo as well as a new one the same as Robs......I like the "wobbly" of the old school one but they dont stick too great......
That takes me back! I pined for one of those when I was a kid, and was beside myself with excitement when Santa delivered! I’ve now got the modern Dymo machine, like Mr Shed Head, but I actually rather hanker after the original retro style, with their garish colours, and slightly uneven text.
Nice job🤫 If you add a small piece of velcro to the top arch, just above the drill bit, you could use the brush to clear the dust and debris from the drill bit whilst it is in use. 😉
Label maker will make it a lot quicker with all those labels you need. Then if you need a longer one you can go back to the original. Nice. Shed is really coming along nicely Rob. Great video! CHEERZ!
Hi Rob, Great little printer, for £15 not bad at all, I've got some of those wall anchors from Lidl I bought some last year and got some made by Plastic Plug ( "I think......") the makers of Wall Plug, I was busy at the weekend fitting new double glazed windows to my porch as my old single glaze window frames have seen better days and were on the porch when we bought our home 28 years ago with help from my two brothers, probably been done in half the time if we weren't laughing.........done good job, just got to fit new plastic fascia boards as the T+G boards are looking bit tired now. As always full of tips a great ideas, catch you soon, take care mate...........cheers
The label maker is a cool idea I can think of lots of applications at work and at home How about a follow up as to how you would remove the fixings should you need to ,i.e when it comes to decorating and you don't need the fixings anymore Great video Rob keep them coming
I use a Brother PT-H110 Compact Label Printer which works well and has a QWERTY keyboard. I'm also wondering about splashing out on a Colop E-Mark which has the added advantage that you can print onto wood, so may be useful beyond just labelling.
Love the videos keep em coming. Waiting for the details on the Niimbot especially cartridge prices compared to the Dymo and how good they are at staying stuck!!

Not a fan of the new colour scheme of the hand tools handles. drop them in the grass and they will be gone for good, at least when they had red on the handles you could see something red, and no word of a lie I have not bought any handtools since this colour change some months ago, they get the water pump pliers in every few month and I usually buy one or teo to replace what i have lent out and not got returned or left on a job, not this time i've left them in the shop. I'll have to buy some cheap temu stuff to get a decent contrasting colour

Wow.. 😃what a fantastic idea, thanks for sharing.. cheers Rob
Good point on the colour not standing out.. I have other parkside tools with red buttons and handles.. which helps Cheers
