Hello i have one of this radio on mu cruze too, i have one tip for everyone, if you go on “factory settings” and put the password “8888” you have acces to some configs, go to app lauch and select one app to automatic opens when you power on the car. I’m loving your videos with this cruze greetings from Brazil!
I put the exact radio about 1 year ago in our Cruze. The modern looking radio Completely changed the whole car for a great price and it looks factory. Been watching this build on this channel for the last year plus. I’ve Been working on classic and modern cars with my dad my whole life and we Really enjoy watching this channel because the car looks just like our Cruze even down to the color and rims. Whenever you post a new video specifically on the Cruze we sit down an watch it together. We’re amazed at the what you’ve been able to get that little engine to do so far and enjoy how you’ve documented all the steps along the way. Keep it up!
I know this is a year old but thank you so much man. I tried everything and thought my radio was shot. Followed your exact instructions and it worked. Damn good
Cool thing with an android in dash touchscreen is you can use a bluetooth obd2 scanner and run the torque app and set up whatever gauges you want displayed for whatever performance data you want to view, as well as view and clear check engine light codes on the fly!
Be carefull. I read before that cheap bluetooth obd2 scanners are not meant to stay connected all the time while running the car all the days. I heard somewhere that they fried some car electronics with it
Mic input is for an external mic instead of the built-in mic on the unit. You can connect it to the OnStar mic in the overhead which will give better results than the one in the dash. Or a separate mic that you place wherever you want (one of my other radios came with a clip on mic that's attached to the visor).
Not gonna lie, I despise touch controls for volume and HVAC, but having the steering wheel controls makes life a lot better. Overall this is still super cool. Surprisingly affordable too.
I feel you on that! Both work though and it retains the manual turn knobs. I more than likely wont be reaching for the AC controls on the touch screen. It certainly gives the car a more modern feel. We'll see how she holds up. Even if it lasts a year, still would say money well spent.
@@cmattdabrat Can you tell me what your canbus protocalls are set to? I can't get the steering wheel to work, you can find the settings in factory settings pass 8888 top left "protocal settings" I think it says. there are 2 settings the canbus type on the left and the car it's set to on the right, I'm sure it's set to cruze but whats the left setting?
@@cmattdabrat 2 years later and I finally decided to go out and install it. LOVING IT. I need to sort out the stereo sounds, hopefully there's someway to EQ this thing because it made everything louder but now the bass is overpowering lol
Thanks for demostrating that the steering wheel controls work with the radio and including a very detailed account of installtion as well as a product link.
Wow!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze and I never knew you could install a touchscreen stereo in any vehicle that does not have one. I'm definitely going to install one now. 🚗
You will run into heating issues by wrapping the blue box in the foam; it will act as insulation and not allow it to breath properly. Use double sided tape to mount it to the side of the sides of the dash if your worried about rattling noise
After watching this video, I ordered this and installed it on my 2015 Cruze LTZ. I was able to connect my factory installed backup camera to this unit, with some research and added wiring. The reverse camera video (for my car) is in the 20 pin connector (beige in my case) that plugged into the factory radio. I did not have to worry about the reverse trigger wire, the Android radio already recognized when the car was in reverse. So all I needed was the video from the rear camera. The 20-pin connector is unused with this replacement Android radio. In my case, the #5 pin was camera positive (Camera+) and the #15 pin was camera negative (Camera). By stripping an RCA male cable that I had, and connecting the positive and negative wires to these two pins, I was able to get my original factory backup camera to work on this Android radio. So, I didn't have to install the backup camera that came with this radio.
I’m confused on this if you can help me understand? So you spliced back an RCA male connector into two wires. You connected the positive side of the connector to pin number #5 and the negative side of the RCA connector to PIN number 15? Where does the beige wire you mentioned first go?
@@lasvegasguy12 Just now seeing this. The beige connector (has 20 pins and several wires) doesn't get used with the replacement radio. So the connector is just left sitting behind the new install. In that 20 pin connector are the two wires needed to hook up to the factory rear camera. So, you can buy something like an Ailteck Speaker Wire RCA Male Plug Connector Jack to Bare Wire Open End Audio Video AV RCA Cable on another website. Then, you simply insert the red wire (from that Ailteck) into the #5 spot, and the black wire into the #15 position. Then you put the other end, the yellow RCA, into your new Tesla radios camera input. You can just tape the wires to the 20-pin connector so that they don't come out of the pins, and you're good to go. Now the new Tesla style radio will use your factory backup camera. Tried to explain it my best. You would using that Ailteck cable to connect the original factory camera to the new radio.
I was going to comment its for hands free calling. I installed a new radio in my Truck and I added a microphone to it and mounted it near the drivers seat. No one has a problem hearing me on hands free calling.

Definitely will! When I got mine and looked up install videos, not of them truly had a step by step video that was easy to follow, or watch for that matter. I think I sat in the car for a good hour just playing with it. Really changes the overall feel.
Now that it's been a short amount of time, what do you think so far about the radio? How long does it take to start up and be ready to go? Also, how long does it take to pair your phone?
I been having for 2 years plus i will do a video shortly if you guys are interested. The new screen actually gave my speakers a whole new definition with making it super louder compared to how it was. One of the big pluses
Two questions. Number one, did your existing infotainment system have a monochrome display and two did you need any special adapters for the install or did everything come with the radio?

I’m confused what u meant when you kept saying you’re tucking the gps into the steering wheel? Did that gps thing come with the radio ? Is that so u don’t have to use wifi for the gps or something?
Love this! Does this unit make the original cabin air controls useless? Audio quality is a big question too. Is there any difference that you've noticed?
What about all the car features that we control with the old radio, like the set up of locks and unlocked, the dimmer of the interior the way to turn on or off the daytime lights ?
Did you had any problem with the reversing sensors sound? In my new unit the beeping when reversing seems almost random even if the distance shown in the display is correct
Just FIY that cable for rear camera you put in. it's also a Bluetooth and Wifi antena - two small wires - so the signal reception is better with that cable plugged in.
