This video is perfection as I just did this this weekend following this video. All that was needed were the circlip and needle nose pliers and new bearings off ebay or straight from a machine shop.....
The tool that Matt used to remove the circlip needs to have very narrow tips, much smaller than are included with most tools including multiple tool sets. He bought it at Halfords, a UK organization that is probably not the most economical choice in the rest of the world.
Thank you so muh for the explanation at

Great video- just successfully swapped mine out - great tip on how to get the needle bearing clip out - worked great!
The X series pedals do not have the clip ring on the inboard or tapered roller bearing side.

How did you remove the needle the spindle? Thanks
I figured it out zero body doesn't come apart like x5
Can you give me the measurements of the bearings in order to be able to order them before disassembling the pedal?
How do you remove body from the spindle ?
How did you remove the grease cap?
Not sure what you did with the file . That part was hard to see
Where can a person purchase the middle needle bearing? Rebuild kits and bearings only supply the outer bearings.
Why don't you just remove the bow tie and casing to get bearings out?
