In this vlog i started my day off in new Kingston in the business district to check out what the vibes were like. I had a short walk over to a beautiful park known as “Emancipation Park” which is a must see if you’re ever in the Kingston area. It’s been a dream of mine to visit trench town culture yard and that’s where i headed to today. As i entered trench town area i was surprised by a fellow local who stopped me and asked me if i wanted a local tour around trench town. He had mentioned he took around one of my other UA-cam friends Chris must list so i figured, why not trust this guy. This is why it’s good to get off the beaten path and explore these countries you will always be sure to run into some kind locals. Would you visit Trench Town here in Kingston, Jamaica?

@@PoJoTheBackPacker Nope he's not, joking, our ancestors who fought in WWI & WWII are buried in Hero's Circle. A monument is also erected for them in said Park and wreath is laid out for them yearly on Remembrance Day, if you get a chance take visit. Our National Hero's are also buried there.

And then if i put it on camera i look like im doing too much lol. You can never win with the internet i swear

Nuff ratings for your tour guide Pojo. But I was wondering if he showed u were Bob lived after he came bck from Delaware, thats the actual Culture Yard. There are 2 residents in Trench Town where he lived. 1st is the soon to be Wailers Museum and Culture Yard, where his 1st tour bus is currently sitting. I wish they would fix it up/preserve it instead of letting it continue to deteriorate.
Yes it was getting late and the culture yard closed. I was aware that there were two houses but for me this house i saw in the video was good enough for me it was on my bucket list. Plus I’m not done in Jamaica so maybe I’ll come back and see the second house inside the culture yard 👌🏽

Great vlog PJ. Love the tour guide he's very knowledgeable on the Community. By the way Peter Tosh was a very popular singer in the 70s and 80s after splitting from Bob Marley and the Wailers. Try to check him out on YT singing "Legalize It" and other music and collabs with Mick Jagger, etc. If you have time you could check out the upscale communities in Kgn as a contrast. They have neighborhoods that rival many in the U.S. Great vlog.

Pojo the Chinese is not just building in Jamaica they have been apart of the culture for 150 years. They consider themselves Jamaican and most have the accent. They have Chinese fusion with Jamaican food too so try the Chinese food in Jamaica. The best! I would say try the Chinese food in uptown Kingston the best is the Jade Garden restaurant in Sovereign Centre in Hope Road. It would be a good place to do content.

i told you about uptown rich area anything you buy from there compare to down and country the price is going to triple compared to what you would normally pay,thats the only thing i hare about uptown food price store price anything is sky high rich area

So the car situation for me did suck because i wanted to see a lot more. But i am sure if i figured out how to use the route taxi in some places i wouldn’t need a car.. i didn’t want to rent a car because im on a budget but I’ve been told you can rent a car for $50 a day. (Don’t quote me on that though) for my trip id say i spent around $1k

threch town is not bad anymore like that as long its not night time nobody going to touch you,as long you not in a gang thats going to start trouble or your wanted,yes Bob kids dont live there they got money,they do come visit trench town they still have friends and family there and Bob kids are well protected by gangs in the area the crew,nobody messes with them,and they like tourist to come come tourist Will spend,but early 8os & 90s you could not go there political war and police shooting there cheap gun at time was no match for the gangs on the opposite side the gangs where well arms with machine guns,when that sprayed at the police and soldiers they had to run and hide and dive for cover,but jow time has change,even Tivoli gardens is a safe place you can go in the Big Don and gang said no killing or rapes can take place in there of anyonw does that you better do it outisde the community cause when you name gets called and they catch you then they going ro take your life,if you steal they chop off your hands of foot to make a example to anyone that wants to do criminal activity in the community

Develop their constituency. Sad it looks the same as it did when bob Marley was a child there. Also more sad the famous people that made it out did not give back nor contribute to changing the state of things yet they are worshipped as heroes. I know crime ravaged the these west Kingston communities since the 70s but there cannot be change if the people are not invested in, the leaders neglected and abandoned these communities for decades. But now since the social media era alot of tourists coming in so they’re constructing all these murals and signs that serve as no value to the community
