My wife and I have looked after Patrina for over 12 years. She frequented our Ave. in the Kgn. 6 area. She's highly intelligent. She has a family and a home. Like many in her situation, she doesn't stay on her medication. We have fed and clothed her. They moved her off the Ave. late last year. I had no idea where she was. On Friday, someone asked me for her. We had gone shopping and bought her groceries. Glad to see her!!!! Mental illness is Real!!!!

So true, my sister, here in Jamaican people laugh at peopl, but these people at times doesn't know that they may look good on the outside and doesn't know what their structure is like inside. We must adopt the principle to love and respect everyone. I can remember I was in a relationship, and I went to my doctor to have a checkup he gave me some tests to do and all was OK, but one of the result came back that I was born with only one kidney I went home and told him as a partner and he spread it in the community and those he told laugh and two days after he was at home sick I rushed him to the hospital only to know he has type 2 diabetes lost all his weight .I made up my mind and leave him I suffered severe psychological stress disorder that lands me to mental health issues. Presently, I'm still on my medication. I'm now trying to set up my little business. I already have the space ,I'm in need of help to buy some materials but afraid to ask sometimes people will shame you.

This makes me sad to watch and I want to do something to help. So many things observed from this one conversation; she’s not psychologically sound which stems from trauma, neither is she physically fit. She needs long term shelter, proper care & rehabilitation. The government are so concerned about everything else except the welfare of the people, particularly the homeless and the local charities don’t do enough with their outreach. Shes a classic example of the disparities within the country. Thank you for making this video, she really does need help and hopefully this video reaches who it needs to reach in Jamaica for her to get the healthcare and wellbeing support she desperately needs.

She has been in the area on and off for well over 10 years and at one point she lived on the sidewalk outside the French Embassy on Hillcrest Ave which is just 2 minutes drive away. She has mental health issues but usually does not cause any problems. The only thing you can do right now is to get her into a mental health facility at this point. She will disappear from the area for several months and then you see her pop up one day. I have heard so many stories about her past and the only consistency is that she was in the UK. I feel sorry for her but it may be a challenge as in individual to get her to agree on therapy. Kudos to you for trying.

I get it. After watching this & reading the comments, I realize that she is feeling hopeless. Allegedly she has been in this situation on and off for around ten years. The Ghanian man she mentioned was her ex. She would work and give him money and they were supposed to be saving & building a house back home but that was all a lie. He took off with the money, and her family never did anything with the cash she was sending home & that's when everything started to go downhill. She worked hard in London but invested everything in the Ghanian. Her family is basically finished with her because she blew her chance. You know Jamaican parents & family don't show any mercy or empathy when you mess up. They make you feel worse and will keep bringing up your mistakes forever. Now she is stuck 'kotching' with her aunt, deep in self-regret & can't see how to get out of the hole. Just reminiscing about the past & what could have been. 😢
Now I see why parents always say to focus on your studies alone in high school and college, leave romance for later. When women fall in love, we just focus on that & lose all senses. The wrong man will leave you in a hole deeper than where he found you. This is a testament to life. She needs someone to support her & make her find purpose again. She is getting old & time is running out.

I do understand your point utterly remember that she mention about getting only get a year ( more or less visa to study)
You are only entitled to work 20 hours per week on a student visa.
Yes, you have some worthless son of a B in England who sit on their ass and refused to create stability for themselves.
Mental illness is real and I wish the government could do more to help these people indeed.

I pray this lady finds a way out like I did
I spent ten years in Jamaica, I’m back in the uk now doing well , I have a digital hub where I help young people

@@monikadunns6512So….her own Government won’t take care of her, or any other of their people, but the fault lies with a “worthless Son of B in England”?
Maybe if their own country created better stability for them, they wouldn’t want to go to England to begin with?
It’s easier to blame the U.K. because we’re a “rich” country, but the truth is. We’re not actually so rich anymore and the illegal immigration mostly, is causing a MASSIVE ripple effect for EVERYONE, and yes, it’s seeping right down to the poorest of us as well. People do NOT want accept how many problems immigration causes, we’re only a teeny tiny little country, we only have so much room and so many resources, illegal immigration costs our country over a billion pounds a year (and counting) all whilst Jamaica apparently gets away with treating their OWN people like crap?
It’s THEIR responsibility to take care of their own people, not everybody else’s - just like it’s not Jamaica’s responsibility to take care of any British person, it’s not our government’s responsibility or duty to take care of any others either.

Thank you for having the opportunity and courage to highlight returning residents (undocumented) struggling in Jamaica. Hopefully, her family or friends will see this video and get her the support she needs. It's indeed concerning that individuals who are vulnerable or in distress can be more susceptible to various forms of abuse, including sexual assault. Mental health challenges can sometimes make it harder for someone to protect themselves or seek help.
    I'm just saying....🤔

Very sad 😢& whenever I come to Jamaica. I always give to them cus most of them are going through depression mental illness especially when in her case being locked up then deported. When ever someone becomes deportee they don’t get jobs whenever they seeks it. People treats them really bad and don’t take them in. They sometimes goes on drugs & even sell their body to survive on the streets. They’re lucky when others help them out like myself. They eats outta garbage bins and off the streets after people dumped it. I hope she gets help to be back on track especially counseling as well. She isn’t as bad as some other people that are homeless. She seems to be educated too. May God located her & turned things around for her. 🙏😢❤️‍🩹

YES! This is also what I have summised! Hence his comment that Obsticles are good was clearly demoralising to her as it made him seem insensitive to her plight! 😕
I can so relate to her feelings as I have ADHD and often feel inept to deal with circumstances in life although I may come across as highly capable! The disorder is no fault of my own as it is hereditary. 😐

This is difficult to watch but there is so much to learn from Coco boy and Petrina. Trauma can galvanise some people to succeed in life but it can crush other people's dreams.
But we should not judge anyone, especially people like Petrina who tried but faced her own peculiar challenges.
I also love how coco boy told her not to blame others, but use that energy to galvanise herself
