My wife and I have looked after Patrina for over 12 years. She frequented our Ave. in the Kgn. 6 area. She's highly intelligent. She has a family and a home. Like many in her situation, she doesn't stay on her medication. We have fed and clothed her. They moved her off the Ave. late last year. I had no idea where she was. On Friday, someone asked me for her. We had gone shopping and bought her groceries. Glad to see her!!!! Mental illness is Real!!!!

I get it. After watching this & reading the comments, I realize that she is feeling hopeless. Allegedly she has been in this situation on and off for around ten years. The Ghanian man she mentioned was her ex. She would work and give him money and they were supposed to be saving & building a house back home but that was all a lie. He took off with the money, and her family never did anything with the cash she was sending home & that's when everything started to go downhill. She worked hard in London but invested everything in the Ghanian. Her family is basically finished with her because she blew her chance. You know Jamaican parents & family don't show any mercy or empathy when you mess up. They make you feel worse and will keep bringing up your mistakes forever. Now she is stuck 'kotching' with her aunt, deep in self-regret & can't see how to get out of the hole. Just reminiscing about the past & what could have been. 😢
Now I see why parents always say to focus on your studies alone in high school and college, leave romance for later. When women fall in love, we just focus on that & lose all senses. The wrong man will leave you in a hole deeper than where he found you. This is a testament to life. She needs someone to support her & make her find purpose again. She is getting old & time is running out.

So true, my sister, here in Jamaican people laugh at peopl, but these people at times doesn't know that they may look good on the outside and doesn't know what their structure is like inside. We must adopt the principle to love and respect everyone. I can remember I was in a relationship, and I went to my doctor to have a checkup he gave me some tests to do and all was OK, but one of the result came back that I was born with only one kidney I went home and told him as a partner and he spread it in the community and those he told laugh and two days after he was at home sick I rushed him to the hospital only to know he has type 2 diabetes lost all his weight .I made up my mind and leave him I suffered severe psychological stress disorder that lands me to mental health issues. Presently, I'm still on my medication. I'm now trying to set up my little business. I already have the space ,I'm in need of help to buy some materials but afraid to ask sometimes people will shame you.

Stop judging . What makes you think they never help.
Do you know how difficult it is to keep an insane person on their meds.
You can't force them to stay on meds.
Have you seen what happened to the family in NY last week after the aunt took the nephew in? He killed the whole family and stabbed the police.
The niece told her not to take him in. He was at a shelter.
They need to stay on meds. They won't. The family safety is at risk.

    • @dazedconfuseds
      @dazedconfuseds 9 місяців тому

You don't know the struggles to keep someone on their meds. My brother is older than me. My parents died within 6weeks if each other. I told my brother he should stop acting up cos I won't be able to look after him like mum did. When they died , I did step up. I wasted 10years. I am 40 ,single and had one guy who wanted to marry me before my parents died but he didn't want to help my brother but he had his own family issues. Today I don't look after my brother, I haven't got 4 years. And he's still the way he is. You can't force someone to take meds, or stay at home. My brother would beg in the streets, even though he doesn't pay for bills or rent. You really don't understand the sacrifice or the heartache. I believe and some many others believe my mum died due to stress. I was hospitalised cos I neglected my health caring for my brother. When they go missing you have to stop everything cos they could be hurt or someone taking advantage. When they get caught by the police for stealing or disturbing the peace, you have to stop everything and sort it out . I don't feel ashamed anymore for not helping. I'm done buying food and lending money for him to give it away. Even clothes. If people don't want to help themselves, how can you help?

Maybe if their own country created better stability for them, they wouldn’t want to go to England to begin with?
It’s easier to blame the U.K. because we’re a “rich” country, but the truth is. We’re not actually so rich anymore and the illegal immigration mostly, is causing a MASSIVE ripple effect for EVERYONE, and yes, it’s seeping right down to the poorest of us as well. People do NOT want accept how many problems immigration causes, we’re only a teeny tiny little country, we only have so much room and so many resources, illegal immigration costs our country over a billion pounds a year (and counting) all whilst Jamaica apparently gets away with treating their OWN people like crap?
It’s THEIR responsibility to take care of their own people, not everybody else’s - just like it’s not Jamaica’s responsibility to take care of any British person, it’s not our government’s responsibility or duty to take care of any others either.

I'm not sure if she is dealing with Reality. She may be Delusional as her mind is jumping from several scenarios to Academia. Missing documents, missing exam papers etc. Trench Town/London seems to play a part. Prayers going up for this lady. She seems Lost both mentally and Physically.

she mention her aunty beating her as well. A lot of Jamaicans think it's normal to BEAT little children which is very traumatic for kids. I am not surprise so many Jamaicans have mental issues. The parenting is so upside down, with hold love and support and give beating and resentment. Doesn't make any sense to me

I think she lacks motivation, she is grandiose and delusional. Something is not right with her, she is a laidback sick girl, obviously she has some mental issues. She is just the typical personality who ends up being a street person. She is 43 , what has she been doing? I think her family has helped without success . She is a middle aged woman already, mentally ill and needs serious mental evaluation and therapy. I think she was a smart girl who was hindered by mental illness. She is yet to take responsibility for the way her life is, COCO is very patient, but zi think he is wasting his time. She is like Billy Bogs. , even if she is taken off the streets she will end up back there. She cannot connect with reality

I believe if she gets the opportunity to go back to the UK, she may be able to get the mental health support she needs. Mental illness is real and can be very serious, but with the right support we can also contribute positively to society. I share my journey on my platform. God bless you sir 🙏🏽💙🔥

@danniellejohnson448 i read the first comment and it appears people still feel the streets are paved with gold in Britain. "She can go to UK for mental help" as though they can help their own people. The waiting list for persons for medical help is years wait but they make it sound so easy.

This makes me sad to watch and I want to do something to help. So many things observed from this one conversation; she’s not psychologically sound which stems from trauma, neither is she physically fit. She needs long term shelter, proper care & rehabilitation. The government are so concerned about everything else except the welfare of the people, particularly the homeless and the local charities don’t do enough with their outreach. Shes a classic example of the disparities within the country. Thank you for making this video, she really does need help and hopefully this video reaches who it needs to reach in Jamaica for her to get the healthcare and wellbeing support she desperately needs.

Whether she is telling a lie to protect her dignity or she is talking in codes, she is simply saying that in the ghetto (trench town) where she grew up, neighbours & family try hard to keep u down, especially with witchcraft, because evry1 is envious and wants what u have. So she always had to work harder than her peers. She has lived overseas so long that being here is like she is lost. All the money she accumilated, trying to be a good student, & it all came down to this😔 so she is accepting her fate because here in jamaica people dont give second chances. To her; getting back her passport is her only hope to regain what she is used to. I would love to hear about her story in england tho, People say she was scammed out of her stuff.
