      thekillerklebb it made 604 hp on wastegate pressure and pump gas (93). We are removing the motor again to send the head out for CNC porting and shimless buckets. That should get us to 750hp on pump and well into the 900 range on E85. After that I’m done. No more lol.

    I bought my first R-32 two years ago. This is a very good video on the facts and myths of the RB26 engine. My car is pushing 621hp at the wheels on a conservative tune I use for everyday driving on pump gas. But I have my performance tune set to 780hp on pump gas. This is what I have done to mine. 2.8L stroker motor with fully forged internals, HKS T51R Kai turbo, HKS wastegate, Balanced and treated crank and cylinder block, Polished headm 280degree 10.5lift cams, Metal head gasket (1.5mm), High flow fuel pump, Trust fuel delivery pipe and regulator, 660cc injectors, HKS Vpro, HKS front mount intercooler, HKS air filter, HKS oil pump, Apexi oil cooler and filter relocator, Trust oil pan, Aftermarket catch tank, 3 row radiator, Sftermarket straight pipe and catback, OS Giken 1-2-3 close ratio transmission and triple plate clutch, 2 way LSD, Tein Pillowtension rods. I'm set up for E85 but I have never used it as of yet. I have never race nor took mine down the drag strip. Oh and the engine when I got it only hat 15,000 original miles when I got the car and it had an N1 block already in the car. I'm assuming That the owner before me swapped the original motor for a N1 is my best guess but That it

    Camber settings on my GTR were -4.4 front and -3.4 rear for circuit work, locked out Hicas and + 1mm toe on the rear per side, castor was 9 degrees up front and front toe was -2mm over all.
    I used temp guns on every session to get the optimal contact patch.
    Suspension is super critical too, if you want to go fast, look at MCA or custom made shocks through RacePace Victoria.
    I ran a torque split controller too with a 50/50 setting, made a huge difference.
    I was still running twins with 2863 GTX series Garretts, they were very, very responsive with the HKS 2.8L (Yet to see a single setup come close) but the downside is that I needed 33psi to overcome the exhaust pressure through to the intake to get the L/min of air flow up.
    A single EFR would have been great, 8374 would have been my choice.
    I was running 490KWatw on E85 with the twins and it was very quick at the track and have got quite a few records from this car (Still holds the QLD's fastest street Skyline GTR record).
    Brakes were 381mm Harrops up front with 356mm down the back and wheels were TE37's with 305/30/18's in DZ03 Dunlops.
    I have run into the 55's at QLD raceway on the sprint track and managed a 57 on Clubman.
    If you want a serious circuit car that actually goes fast, you will need a lot of money period.
    The R&D to set the car up is quite a lot and when you finally get it on track it costs a fortune to keep it going.
    On track it was approx Brakes = $270/100km Fuel = $280/100kms Tyres = $2800/100kms. I used to average between 40-50kms per track day. Maintenance was killer too with turbo's letting go, head gasket replaces and clutch pressure plate failures at one point.
    There is nothing cheap about putting a GTR around a circuit cheaply, it works out to around $130 per minute for total running costs including breakages.
    It could run 10.3's on the street using V-Box, but I never went to the drags, I didn't want the extra stresses associated with the drag strip.
    I have sold the car now and will probably never own another GTR, was great fun, but you can go as fast of if not faster for way less money.
    I had a very modified MX5 after the GTR and it was a fraction of the costs and def as much fun, I would buy an MX5 every day of the week over another GTR.
    My current car is an LMP3 Lemans car with a lightened K20A Mugen engine and the whole car is far cheaper to live with and much much faster. 1:29's at Eastern Creek and about to go from 250hp to 380ish soon. Hopefully a 1:25 or quicker. 49's around Lakeside too with the current 250hp.
    If you want to go fast around a track for a decent price, don't look at GTR's, find something light and handles well.

    • @nick-australia2226
      @nick-australia2226 6 років тому

      It depends on what you find enjoyable. I personally feel that the GTR is a great car for what it was intended for, which is to be a street driven car that has the ability to enter weekend track events, autocross etc. I find this aspect of car ownership the most fun and not so much going the fastest the car and my money will allow.
      Obviously when you are putting $30-40k into it, you will begin to see diminishing returns as you would with any car. Also, most cars will experience maintenance/reliability/cost issues when that heavily modified over a period of time. You're basically saying that a MX-5 is a better car because its still fairly fast and doesn't cost $130/min? I don't know what world you live in, but GTRs do not need to cost $130/min to be on the track and still be quicker than a modified Miata.
      An ex prototype is in no doubt a faster car for the track but you're comparing two completely different vehicles built for two completely different purposes? As long as you keep your build reasonable, the GTR is a great car.

    • @SimonWorlds
      @SimonWorlds 6 років тому +1

      Nick - Australia That is the reality of circuit racing mate, i am just being honest with myself to how much it costs, until you have done it all out, I suggest you take others advice.

    • @nick-australia2226
      @nick-australia2226 6 років тому

      I'm not denying the fact that cars like the GTR can be extremely expensive to maintain and race after heavy modification, but you were basically saying that its better to buy a MX-5 because it won't cost you 'X' extreme amount of money to have on track.
      If we are talking about class racing, then I agree the MX-5 will be more bang for your buck in a seasonal, competitive environment but in terms of having an enjoyable time at track days and relatively amateur events (which I assume your MX-5 is for), the GTR does not require such extreme costs to be an enjoyable track machine, especially at the level of a MX-5.
      At the end of the day, its down to budget and desires. If you want a fully ground up built time attack/very competitive car at a low cost, then I agree the GTR is not the right car. In reality though, is there really a low cost car at that level of competitiveness, in terms of a registered street car? I don't really think so.

    • @SimonWorlds
      @SimonWorlds 6 років тому +2

      My MX5 cost me around 16k all up and I was eating Tarmac rally cars on the black stuff no issue, with a $9-11k build on a BP1.8L engine and probably another 5-6k on a different turbo set, exhaust etc, I would have been in the 450hpatw range on track, with the numbers I have run, it would have been as quick as my GTR for lap times if not quicker and quite a significant price difference, even the tyres were half the price and last 2-3 times longer (decreased mass helps a lot).
      I sadly sold my MX5 before i modded the engine further, but brakes, suspension, LCA's, wheels etc were all done, a proper wheel alignment, some chassis bracing and I was hoseing 500-600hp GTR's around the track too, with the power increase I would have been quicker for times and I am talking about some of Australia's fastest circuit GTR's, not your average GTR.
      If I was to build another street car, it would def be another MX5 with everything done this time, def not a lot of really fast ones around.

    • @nick-australia2226
      @nick-australia2226 6 років тому +2

      If what you claim is true with the cost and how fast your MX-5 was, then that is pretty remarkable by my standards. I would say if you had no car to begin with and your only aim was to smash track days then I agree that something like a MX-5 would be great, although I believe that up to around ~400-500whp, the GTR is great value for performance (At least before the price hike). That is basically what the car's chassis/motor were engineered for and hence remains a great street car while still keeping up with numerous modern sport cars of the same class.
      I've gotten around that power level with $3XXX spent on the motor side of things, and since its not enough power to brutally damage the car and blow the tyres off, its very cheap to maintain and take on track. It might not be fastest GTR around, but its very reliable, nice to drive on the street, has backseats and maintains a factory appearance which I assume can be a stretch for a MX-5 (Or similiar vehicle). To me, thats all I could ask from a sports car.

    I want to make a series like this but a bit different..."How to build an 8 second Skyline GT-R in the USA". Your "budget GT-R" series has been a HUGE inspiration. I've always dreamed of having a Skyline GT-R (typical American, I know...) and now that they're legal here, I will have one and I want to make it huge...NO ONE has done anything even CLOSE to what you guys are doing down there here in the US.
    I'd be very interested in working in conjunction with you guys and some of the notable shops from down under. I could see the market for Skyline tuning and parts EXPLODING here in the US over the coming year or two with a bit of attention. If you guys are interested in having a presence here in the US, I'd love to hear from you.

    This is how everyone should treat/mod their car for an all rounder. My supra ran a 10.7 with 420kw @133 - 1.61 60ft, 19psi, gtx35r, tein monoflex suspension and some r888 semi slicks. Only thing that ever broke was the diff (small diff) due to axel tramp. Spent about 15k total. I did the same thing with running the fuel lines as duel feed too, actually I did most things the way you did except the external fuel pump and the things that the 2js just don't need. I put on adjustable cam gears but after hours of adjustment we ended up back at 0 degrees anyway.

      True to that, but no JDM cars in Malaysia is cheap considering the pay one is getting.

    10
    Sec car by a c6 zo6 but a tire on it bone stock and run 10.8-10.9 at 127-128
    For 30k spend 10k on headers , head and cam and ported msd intake and run 139-141 n/a no boost and have a car that can out brake and handle most super cars. Good info though you broke it down really well. I think big singles have to
    Much lag and a good twin set up gives you the best of both worlds big low in and responsiveness and top
    End charge

    I love skidders. I had a 68 mustang. but I sold that. cos it needed some work to it. I sold it to a hot rod mate. that was a awesome car [ I had it for 13 years]. then I got a 1990 gts skyline black coupe . after a couple of years . the cat and mufflers was going. so I had the cat taken out. redone the exhurst, with a rear rage muffler. plus a k,n panel filter. it got a little quicker then, and I notice the idle drop.it got stolen here in Christchurch nz . I had that car for 18 years. now I got a 2005 skyline gt350 black coupe. with rear tint window and spoiler. [it looks likes motordyne g35 on you tube. same year too.] I did almost got a 92 gts-t auto. but I had nightmares if I park it up. when I come back. it,ll be gone . my gts was alarm too

    I’ll be looking to purchase 1 older JDM sports car to add to the collection. I’d like to add the iconic R34 GTR but since I’m in the states we still can’t get it for about another 4 years. The good news is that we can currently get the R32 and now the R33 😍 I’m extremely torn on whether to get an R32,R33 or an MK4 Supra not an easy decision.

    • @MotiveVideo
      @MotiveVideo  6 років тому +1

      We prefer having a good quality thermo fan (SPAL) not cheap, but work better than clutch fan and less drama. Our engine moves and fan hits shroud so had to change. PWR is our number one choice or radiator but we have a 48mm Koya in our R32. ONly need bigger if circuit racing

    • @tangles01
      @tangles01 6 років тому +4

      There will be a ton of variables. your suppliers, shipping, doing the work yourself vs paying someone, honestly it could vary up to 20k. Assuming you have the car already and don't include that, with a healthy 26 in it. you might get away with as little as 10 for the lot. But if there is an unknown problem with the engine or you don't know what you're doing it will rapidly start to sky rocket. And Andrew probably isn't paying retail and so wouldn't have a track on what it would cost you or I to do it.
