R32 is my dream car and I’m starting to do some searching on it and this video helped a lot! Thank you for the information!...... even tho I’m only 15 I still wanna try to get as much knowledge abt the car for when I purchase one in the future
No R32 had an Active-LSD. That was specifically an R33/R34 V-spec (and V-spec derivatives) feature. Some people also say the ATTESA changed between versions, but that was just to recalibrate the DeltaVW gain function which is supposed to be 7kg-m/km/h, due to tire radius changing between versions.
First skyline video I've seen in awhile that actually taught me something I didn't already know. GREAT job! Thank you for the great content and wisdom!
Dear *Stig:* As others have already eloquently remarked, I am always astounded, awestruck and overwhelmed by the wealth of invaluable information you educate us with. This video, along with countless others (of yours) I have watched, clearly indicate the quality time dedicated to produce this for us and I want you to know that I thoroughly enjoyed it - especially how you edited your narration with the images you provided. *Because of you, Godzilla lives! Great vid. Was time for me to reflect on when I had my Aussie delivered R32. Owned the car from 1993-2001. Regret very much selling it. Was pristine. Great memories :) BTW - new sub
GREAT to see you include the Australian connection to the R32 GT-R!, something not often seen or heard when seeing videos about the R32. We were indeed the ONLY market outside of Japan to officially get the R32 and of course you acknowledge that it was in indeed 'Wheels' Australia magazine that coined the nickname 'Godzilla' - great to see. Those red and yellow Winfield racing GT-R's (Fred Gibson team) were just soo dominant (there was also an all red GIO sponsored R32 GT-R team) and rumour has it, that Nissan in Japan didn't want these cars to go there to compete as they were so well developed they were afraid they would embarrass the local Japanese teams. In Australia, the R32 GT-R's were given weights ballasts to try and even up the field but they didn't work. The local Holden Commodore racing teams and even the mighty Ford Siera Cosworth were simply no match for Godzilla. It all came to a head in 1992 during the big Bathurst 1,000 (km) race. The Winfield GT-R was leading the pack in the hands of Jim Richards and Mark Skaife.. then the rain came, lots of it..so much in fact that the race was stopped and called off several hours in. The lap that the race was red flagged, the GT-R crashed (along with many other vehicles). The second placed Ford that was still running thought he'd won the race...but he hadn't read the rules properly!. When the race is red flagged, the classification is based on where the cars where placed 2 laps before the red flag, giving the win to the Nissan GT-R. The crowd booed and hissed during podium presentations. the winning driver Jim Richards, was so disappointed and incensed at the crowd's disgraceful reaction he called them a " pack of arseholes"!..One of the most famous speeches in Australian motorsport history! After that race, it was decided to ban all turbo's from touring car racing.
All very true, the winner after the red flag in any race though is from the last full lap before and not 2. I own an r32 gtr and it simply has no equal.
Anakin Skywalker check out Montu Motors channel and website They can even import one they don’t have in stock and despite current situations, they are open for business. Good luck and don’t ever give up on your dream.
Cant wait for you guys in American to start importing z tune, m spec, n1, nur, vspec2, r tune, s tune r34 gtr's, were lucky to have all of these cars available in Australia(btw there is about 5 ZTUNE registered to Australia)
People use to say rx7s were unreliable but with advancements in material and cooling not to mention the support of mazda, these GTRs are gonna be some highly maintenance queens for sure. The cost is gonna be very high to maintain let alone the additional issues on resourcing parts. These issues wrap around mostly the engines flaws but that awd is gonna be a handful when electronics break. Nonetheless it is great to have the GTRs coming to stateside finally and seeming them around.
I used to import them back in 1998 in australia and back then when they used to get them proffesionally checked before purchase 99% wouldnt pass.No joke. This one nissan mechanic said he hadnt seen a good r32 in 2 years. That was in 1998
The regulations changed in Australia to RAWS from the early days and were rather lax. To comply a gtr in the 1990’s cost far more and only good ones were imported. That was fine because resell in AU was $50k. Since the value declined in 2008 or so and now under RAWS, the quality dropped badly.
this has helped me, im not sure if im ever gonna get an R32 or an R34 but if I do, the first thing I would do is find out the problems of the car, make sure I get one thats in the best shape possible, make sure its completely imported and all set, give it a new rear bumper, change the color to a nice gloss blue, new parts for the car so it can take a bit of a beating, and give it a check up every month or 2 at a shop
GT Content- In regards to the R32, it may also be beneficial to mention if a GTR may have the AWD light illuminated on the dash and what the possible fixes could be. I bled the hydraulic system on mine, replaced the relay, and the light still comes on.
Kudos thank you very much for the video...a bit late to the scene and from across the pound. I am still saving for that illusive R32, hope to find one soon :-)
I watched your videos, luv em, very helpful and full of user friendly info . Now I own a pandem widebody r32 GTR. Gold top, steel turbines, tuned to go. :) I'm grateful.
Great video and information. A few additions if you are really looking for a R32 GTR. Buy a good one pay a little more up front. As there are more importers everyday the supply is getting thin, many of the cheaper GTRs will have hidden issues that will need addressing or you fun will end quickly. Finding low km stock cars are getting rarer, if you plan on major modifications find one that has had work done to it leave the stock ones for. Collectors. There are some that are great looking and have lots of mods done do your research on the aftermarket work and parts, some are rare and pricey or no longer obtainable. Have $3-5k in the bank for needed work it will turn up. I did coil overs, exhaust, fluids, clock, wipers, washer fluid pumps, ball joints, tie rods , and rebuild all 4 axels needed new cv boots. I bought mine May of 2017 with 48k miles. It isn’t a true GTR beginning life as a GTS4 4 door in August of 1990. In 1995 it was converted to a GTR using a R33 RB26dett Motor and all parts from a vspec version, it also has R34 front suspension, a wide body conversion which includes the full GTR aluminum front end and N1 headlights, full repaint from jet silver to crystal white, a Reebok Skyline special interior ( nobody can find information on it) this is 4 door GTR interior seats, door panels, pedals, steering wheel, gauges. Also many Nismo parts, Instrument Cluster, rear suspension, gas cap. Wheels are Veil side 18x9 3 piece Andrews Racing, have and offer just on the rims $4k.A-spec tune to 400+ hp all for under $20k. Everything works on the car now and could be used as a daily driver.
I owned one years ago.used to import them.expensive to maintane.I know someone that does pre purchase inspections on these cars and he said he hasnt seen a good one in over 10 years
SAINT GAMER yea, I said the same thing when I was 7, I’m 19 and still looking for the car. I’m in fort bliss Texas and all i need is one to pop on the market, it’s like 50k down here. Looking for one in the 15,000 or 20,000 range, a lot have been sold for that much here
Awesome video man! Could you do an R32 GTS buyers guide too? I'll probably be in a position to afford one here soon so I'll start looking. I'll probably buy a good GTS instead of a cheaper GTR
Cody Clark you need any help man you can message me. I bought mine in July of 2017. There a lot of stuff that I knew before would’ve saved me some money down the road
i want an r32 but im worrying about the parts and repair parts if something goes bad. like even if i had alot of money for expensive parts, i just wouldnt find it
Best car ever made, but ehy do the U.S need it, only right hand drive cars allowed in countries that drive on the left hand side of the road (cause i want them all)
I can't wait for the R34 to hit 25 years so I can get my hands on of those machines. Don't know why I have a thing for the 34 variant, but to me that is the definition of engineering done right.
Agree! Love the R34 Skyline GTR. Unfortunately, other countries were lucky enough to import them before us and by the time it's our turn they will be $$$$$ I do plan on making a buyer's guide prior to that so people know what to look for.
Just found this while doing research, wondering where the R33 & R34 Buyers Guides are? This R32 video was greatly informational !!! Any timeline for next video's?
There was a lot of good information in your video. However you didn’t mention which year or model to look for like you did in your GTR R35 video.. Regardless it was still very informative.
i found a 89 r32 gts-t but the back has a nismo tag above the right back light and idk why it is it everything else looks like a gts-t besides the nismo anyone know why?

I am starting to think I will just get a GTST.. they seam more reliable. The Early RB26s had so many problems.. the 20 is older so its a little more proven. And is tough as shit. Not a power house.. but tough as hell.

I am wary of a 1991 R32 GTR selling for 8900. But for the price, repairing/maintenance costs might be worth it if I will have to do those anyways when buying at 20k or more. Still looking around a couple other options at 9 to 12k so hopefully I can get more info about usage/previous owners/replaced parts/ etc on them
That was 1 of the most Educational , Informative & Detailed Descritive of the R32 I've ever heard !!!
