Thanks for the video. I wish you would have completed the removal on the video. Once the carrier is pulled out will the lower prop shaft simply pull out? Or is further disassembly of the lower unit required to get the prop shaft out?
Do you have any videos on reinstalling the carrier? I'm going to be replacing the oils seals, I bought the expensive tool, but my concern is (if I don't break the carrier, lol) getting back In.. is there a tool needed for that or does it just slide in?
Hi Michael and thanks for the video . I just bay an bayliner omc cobra 1988 . How i know that the shift is good or not without open it? When i move the propeller its looks like there’s loss both up and down , front and back ? Thanks
Hi Mike, Did I miss your video that showed the steps before you pull on the prop shaft? Do you have to remove the pinion axle/gear before you start pulling? Your videos are great. I just can not find the one showing the separation of the bottom half and what needs to happen before you use the puller.
I've heard about this method. I'm going to give it a try once I blow up my lower unit in my next project. I'm putting in a 400HP motor against a stock Cobra stern drive. Stay tuned for that!
Dear Michael! Greetings from Kiev, Ukraine!) Thank you for great job making these videos! Im owner of Sunbird Barletta with OMC Cobra 4.3 and OMC sterndrive, and you already helped me with your video about engine bracket) Now I have sad situation, I hit some rock by skegg and prop, so shaft is bended. Could you please give the link to video of full replacement of propshaft, cause I cant find it at your channel. Thank you in advance)
Great question. Volvo Penta/OMC started using the screw in type in 1993. I ought to specify the date range to help folks cut down on some of the confusion.

Looks good i might give it a try on my omc cobra thanks my friend
Thanks for the comments!
Michael Romer Good morning Michael can I do the same thing without removing it off my boat???

99% of the time someone has shift issues--it's shift cable related. If you don't recall the last time it was replaced, replace it.
Michael Romer Thanks Michael 👍🏻

Search my channel for propshaft, ESA part 1 and 2, as they go over this as well. I cover your questions throughout many of my videos.
Used air pressure popped right out. T.C. Electronics/Marine has videos on the way to do it without risking the carrier.

I didn’t see what years this process pertains to? It sounds like they also had a screw in type in some years!
Honestly i'm confused by this. Isn't the bearing carrier screwed/threaded into the housing?

@@michaelromer2016 Thanks for the video and thank god I have the screw type.
@@agmc4me I know right! I'm working a screw type video. Keep an eye out for that one.
