I was hoping the analyst noticed at 6:08, Islam throws a left hook to the head baiting Oliveira to block with his right hand, isolating Oliveira’s arm to set up the head and arm choke. Brilliant little set up. Islam’s grappling transitions are so fast that people don’t notice the subtle intricacies in his movement.
It's probably ingrain in his muscle too.

The problem with using Mendes vs Volk to show his get up game is Mendes just held him the whole time. He didn't try to trap his wrist or lock up the legs while Islam's gonna do both of those things and on top of being stronger making it even worse. Volk was able to push on the head bc he had a arm to do and I don't think Islam's gonna give him that luxury.
And Mendes doesn’t have submission threats

this is probably the first time in sports breakdowns that someone has actually broken it down. usually its just experts stating the obvious thing on screen. crazy how tactical ufc fighting can be.

Wow! Nice breakdown. There is so much calculations in these fights I don't even notice.
The analysis was so good, I watched play-by-play sections four times. This is my conclusion. If these two wrestlers were able to take Volk down multiple times, Is;am will take him down, too. Volk survived these two fighters on the ground, it will be difficult to survive Islam. When Khabib and Islam take someone down, they do one of two things (1) ground and pound, which damages, drains the person at the bottom and makes him tired. (2) choke or submit the opponent. It’s always the same strategy, ground and pound, make him tired, submit. How will Volk defend against it. Every other opponent knew what I summarized, yet none of them were able to develop a defense against it.
Good to see Sayif Saud getting some shine. Great fella.

Scariest part of all this is that we haven't actually seen what Islam is truly capable of, as no one has been able to really push Islam to that zone.

I really learned a lot from this. Almost as though I could implement some of what Saif said because he broke it down so well lol. I'm not very familiar with him, but I feel as though he did a great job.

Makhachev has undeniably the best ground game in the UFC but I find it strange that he would become the number one P4P after only one title defense. If he was to go up to welterweight and beat someone like Chimaev I would be more convinced with the idea, but beating a small fighter like Volkanovski doesn’t represent (for me) the needed step to be the number one.
Anyway, this fight is more about seeing how long Volkanovski will last than him winning.
I think ur confused what p4p means, it doesn’t mean most accomplished, it’s just who is the best fighter if they were to all fight at the same weight class, who do u think would beat him?
Put Volkanovski in there vs. ANY other lightweight and he probably wins it.
Just because Islam is better does not mean Volkanovski isn't that good. Volk is exceptional.
Charles: 11 wins streak and was in the conversation for LW GOAT.
Volk: 12 wins streak, reigning PFP #1 and most people's FW GOAT.
Both dominated their divisions. If Islam dominates Volk like he dominated Charles, it would be hard to argue his PFP #1 status despite the quantity of his defences.
Please keep your eyes on Islam and prepares for tons of excuses. Because in the next 3 years he will defend LW title 5 times and move up to take WW belt and became the GOAT

I believe on what Khabib said that Islam is an elite fighter, while Volk's opponents were just good fighter, only Holloway he fought who has better qualities (in boxing, takedown defense and cardio). On Sunday 12 Feb, Volk is going to face a different fighter who has excellent qualities. My prediction, Islam is going to win by submission in 2nd round

Sjo I mean Islam wrestler, grappler,judo,Sambo his chain wrestler and his got bjj aswell and his striking is underrated his footwork is good and you will see he throws punches or kicks not to land but to get reactions or closing distance Islam is elite ,all respect to volk but his fighting a different beast here, you can't train for this, yes he played rugby and rugby tough you up etc I played rugby all my life, but it won't count in this fight yes he like the brawl he can take it.
