I've watched almost every one but for the ones that I didn't same

The crawlers didn't know human scent since they've never had an encounter with them before.
Also they had been crawling around in dirty caves for hours, so their scent could have been
1) hidden
Or 2)
They smelt like the caves.
3) they didn’t take a shower
4) their scent stands out due to not smelling it before
so in the first movie they clearly show a dead deer (I think it's a deer) with odd injuries implying that the crawlers did venture outside the cave as well as a huge pile of bones with human skulls and bones at the end which implies that the crawlers did have contact with humans and ate them
so yeah, they must have encountered and known the scent of humans

The real monsters were people all along.
It would not be fun to have to ride 80 floors in an elevator with some random cow. I would be terrified, thinking that every clank or creak was the cable about to snap.

Every movie monster exists cause God went on a drunken crack fuelled movie binge.
To be fair, discovering a dead species is not the same as discovering a live one. For example, assume that T-Rex had not been discovered yet. The likelihood that it was alive would be astronomically low; it’s just too big for us to reasonably assume we’ve missed it walking around in the world. But the likelihood that we haven’t found the animal because it’s dead and buried is a waaaaaaay different thing.

But yeah that a hundred or so year's ago when they were discovering that and they we're rushing to prove evolution and discover new species that they just throw some if the fossils together regardless of the attributes of the bones.

You forgot that we only see the younger active crawlers that are near the surface and ever go out to hunt on the surface world. With thousands of miles of caves deeper than we saw there could be tribes of them in much higher number the deeper you go with different food sources including cannibalism.

It's not impossible that this cave connects to others. Caves work like that.
Fun fact; there's a scene early on when the girls are in caves, but the crawlers aren't known yet, and you can see a figure in the background. That was a mistake and a infact it was just someone from the crew who accidentally went into frame, but the director left it in because a) it will give the viewer a bit more of a "oh crap. They're in danger" feeling before the characters. And 2) which is more of a theory; the viewer won't be as blindsided by the crawlers as normal. Which I love

The sequel was a missed opportunity to expand upon the lore. Since it’s implied that the crawlers go to the surface to hunt at night, they could have done something with a bunch of people camping in the woods near the cave where they get attacked by a swarm of crawlers
Plottwist: The monster at the beginning was just giving him back his glowstick, and Matt freaking stabbed the monster with it as soon as he got it back.

I live in the Appalachian mountains and there are creepy and weird things around here. My grandma insisted for her entire life which was over 85 years that a creative known as a grave robber was around here. I also had an older cousin who found a weird human and animal like claw hand in a cave. When you think about the fact there's places on this earth that humans have yet to explore it tells me we should explore earth and forget about Mars and space.
the mars/ space thing comes with extra influxes of precious resources and stuff like a direction for scientific research(it's helpful to have an objective when trying to invent something like fixing a problem)

@Depressed Bean the government also released proof of aliens, no joke. Does anyone else remember that? With everything that has happened that's what people forgot, man it's been a year, but it's not over.
The primary reason for blindness evolving is probably that when creatures can see it becomes their dominant sense. In a dark cave, creatures relying on eyesight would die faster than those who could see worse and were relying more on their hearing.
They hunt above ground so since hunting for food is one of their main selection pressures this is not true. Why evolve adaptations for hunting below ground when it likely makes up a tiny fraction of their caloric intake.

It actually is just able to have symbiotic relationships with certain species harvester ants. This is highly unusual because ants tend to hate and murder any potential roommates, but the spiders live with them in some kind of mutualistic behavior. IDK why they're called ant worshipper though, they don't really do that.

The Descent is one of my favorite of all-time horror movies. Nothing beats being 11 years old watching it in your Grandma's in Arizona
I remember seeing thus In theaters when it first came out,went with a friend who rock climbs ,caves etc. She said it was pretty scary claustrophobic wise.

I live in middle Tennessee on top of a multi-state region that is filled with miles and miles of caves, I can attest that there are for sure tons of undiscovered cave networks here. It’s a story for another day but I saw what looked like eyes shining in the dark in Indian Grave Point cave years ago. I’ve never gone back in but in fairness plenty of people go in the main areas of that cave uneaten.

I found this movie years ago as part of my normal annual binge of horror movies during the Halloween season.
When I saw the "crawlers", here's what went through my mind.
Me: creepy bipedal creatures in caves.... blind.... and attack (possibly eat) anything that come near them....
IT"S THE GODDAMN FALMER!!!! So yeah, having a movie with a horror monster and theme that
felt literally pulled from my favorite video game, puts this in a top 5 favorite horror movies for me.

A lot of this reminds me of stuff I learned in my ecology course. The Barton Springs Salamander had a really low population for a while (10-20) in Austin, Texas. I’m guessing the fact they’re still sustained, albeit not very well, is because they’re listed as endangered.
I can’t imagine anyone listing the crawlers as endangered though xD I think even the most dedicated conservationists might pause at that one. Loved this episode!!

This is one of my absolute favorites. I have it on dvd and im pretty sure ive watched it over 100x. The character development is so good, and the drama and audacity of Juno. I also live in Ga so the appalachia isnt too far, and ive heard about the |-|aint witch(cant say their name or you call them) and its fun that it was close by but my favorite is their accents. Really charming accents and the shots are really good.

Dude, I know your video on this is old, but I gotta comment on it. When this came out some friends and I rented this and watched it at a friend's house who lived out in the middle of nowhere. I live in the Appalachian mountains, so all of this made me love this movie. The sequel not so much

I looked it up and basically they live with ants in their mounds and that’s about all we know so far. It’s a big deal though because I guess ants are really picky about who they let into their mounds

This channel has helped me through many a bored afternoons
One thing I noticed not mentioned is that yes individually your points are correct. The evolution changes to seeing and hearing. How they would get enough food to survive. However as you mentioned the loss of sight is caused by isolation and living entirely in caves. But if to survive they would have to frequently leave the cave then they aren't that isolated. Meaning they would evolve to the point were they have absolutely no sight. Even if they only went out at night at best they would have reduced vision but not necessarily lose all of it. Long story short your point individually are correct and fascinating but when put together they cross each other out. Still love this theory just noticed this wasn't mentioned.
