Re-watching this after The Spirit in the Cabin and The Mastermind of the Warehouse, Ep 1 and 2 of Generation Loss. It's crazy how much Matpat was able to get right. With only 28 seconds MatPat predicted the base story for ShowFall Medias The Social Experiments. Mind Blown!!!!
The best thing about matpats videos is when he's like "I had no idea how this connected to anything, until I looked at their Twitter account where they posted a blank screen with the number 2 on it. And suddenly it all made sense."
I actually rewatched the episode before clicking on this, and found something that MatPat didn't mention. Towards the end of the video, two sentences flash very briefly in the bottom right corner. It took me a few tried to be able to actually pause on them but they read: "Everything has a purpose. Just not the purpose you think." I'm not quite sure what this means, or how it ties into any theory yet. I figured I would bring it up and see if anyone could possibly help.
Well, I'm no investigator, but I would think it could tie back to the part at 14:20. It seems it may be a refrence to the fact there is a purpose for them trying to hide the truth about Romny. This could also be a hint to the fact that since all the other incidents happened in the 19's, it may be trying to hint that Generation Loss has been going for many years, and in the Alternate Universe, is still hiding truth. That's my therory.
Remember the conspiracy themed merchandise ad? The 4th part of the trophy was lit up on the shirt. I think he's teasing a conspiracy themed channel. Edit: just looked at some more merchandise to check and the blue part seems to be really prominent in conspiracy merch, I think I'm right.
at this point I'm half expecting an ARG in the next 5 years that reveals an actual covered up story to the public, it feels like a way safer option to share classified information that's supposed to go public by disguising it as a game until it's figured out and has caught on
my thoughts exactly, the amount of times I have imagined popular streamers/youtubers creating ARG based off real classified information is disturbing. Sometimes I actually believe that some of the ARG's are actually classified information lol. If it does happen though and is later discovered as real information, I would gladly label myself as Physic.

Ive never watched Dream and i have no idea who Ranboo is, so I was originally gonna click off assuming I wouldn't understand anything, but from the looks of it this a personal project that stands on its own and it looks really interesting and promising, hopefully it turns out well

Altered history theme is actually pretty spooky in our own world. It’s of course mostly conspiracy theories with amounts of stretching and mental gymnastics done, but a lot of them are much more solid than your average flat earth illuminati aliens stuff. Armored skeptic has a huge long series called “History is a lie” that dives deep into it. The documents from the past we have that are somewhat unexplained are… unsettling. I recommend it if you are interested! Again, he’s doing it for fun mostly, so don’t take it super seriously
I am incredibly impressed by MatPat realising and connecting all of this from 28 secong video + some messages but even more impressed by the fact that Ranboo came up with it in the first place. Like bruh, i strive to be so smart and creative, especially at such a young age without much of expirience. Imagine what he will able to make content-wise in the future.

Just wanted to put my two cents in here. The symbol for Generation Loss sort of looks like it could be drawn from the St Peter's Field map he pulled up. Starting from the circle point and ending at the little check tail. It goes from Dickson St, down what looks to be 'Mount' St, Twisting up along Windmills (?)st and tipping down Peter St and then curling up the end with Lower Mosely St.

It would also be interesting if he covered Majin and who or what he could possibly be. Did he die? Is he a demon? Is that a mustache? Is he related to Sonic himself? Is he Sonic from a different universe? That's something I'd really love to see because these questions have been plauging my mind for years and I can't come to a definitive conclusion. So yeah, I agree with you. I think it would be great if MatPat covered other bits of the lore and physics in Sonic games.

10:20 Seems to be the origin of the Generation Loss symbol. When rotated 90 degrees clockwise, the streets vaguely make out the mentioned symbol. The “dot” on one of the end pointes of the symbol is then located on the intersection of Mount Street and Dickenson Street. Wonder if there is any significance.

Something worth noting, the image at 15:17 shows an incomplete generation loss logo. Almost like the logo itself has experienced generation loss. Maybe the logo as we know it now is incomplete? or maybe I'm stretching here.
Ranboo mentioned changing the logo at some point for reasons he didn't reveal- so you could be right, or it could just be a design choice ^^ This whole thing is a work in progress that Ranboo's still kind of figuring things out as he goes, I believe :)

@@YounisHajeer nah, if someone is making an ARG, they have to account for EVERYTHING. because every little thing can and will be looked into. it wouldn't make sense for it to just be coincidences, that's the whole point of an ARG. Ranboo is smart, he knows this. I think this theory actually has some merit so far.

Question: has there been technology created that can reverse the effects of generation loss (the concept, not the ARG)? Especially after showing the distorted gen9 nesquick commercial, the initial ARG video seems to be of a very similar quality, with clear instances of a grayscale change hinting that it might be the case. I am getting the impression that whichever group is controlling the text message is using said distortion as a heavy-handed symbol. Either way, i want to know what the undistorted video was before it was further tampered with to deliver the message. Worst case, it is a dead end, but one that proves the tech could work for future clues, best case we get a new perspective of the story. I dont think we have enough information to pick a side, yet. Dual censorship with even black squares, no proof that red and white text are different sides... maybe it is establishing a false narrative; a cause to support that is contrary to the organizer's (in arg universe) goals?
In the real world, no. Imagine that you have a connect-the-dots image. Imagine that with every "copy", you lose a couple dots. Since those dots can be anywhere on the page, even a small handful of dots missing can make the entire image incomprehensible or unsolvable. Now, if they have access to the original video they can copy that as many times to yield as many "v.2" releases as they want. Inversely, if they are only on a "v.3" or "v.4" level then there wouldn't be many explicit distortions. Least of all compared to a "v.9" copy. Or, obviously since an ARG isn't necessarily constrained to reality, the ARG's universe could have such technology.
@@onijester56 I was asking in the context of a potential lead. The simplest concept would be similar to that of a reverse image search, trying to find the few matches that exist and working backwards until finding the original. Or to put it another way, using gen9 to find gen8 to find gen7... to find gen1. IF the one video is a prime example of generation loss, i wonder what potential secrets it could hide, especially if every other censored image has all the real world history attached instead of just finding random images. I know it is likely beyond human capability, so that is why i specifically asked if tech exists to streamline the process. An in-universe explanation would be the next best thing, but in the realm of ARGs, that feels like it would be a bit too explicit a clue; at that point we are watching a fictional character solve a mystery, not solving the mystery ourselves.

I am incredibly impressed by MatPat realising and connecting all of this from 28 secong video + some messages but even more impressed by the fact that Ranboo came up with it in the first place. Just wanted to put my two cents in here. The symbol for Generation Loss sort of looks like it could be drawn from the St Peter's Field map he pulled up.
Starting from the circle point and ending at the little check tail.
It goes from Dickson St, down what looks to be 'Mount' St, Twisting up along Windmills (?)st and tipping down Peter St and then curling up the end with Lower Mosely St.

10:20 Seems to be the origin of the Generation Loss symbol. When rotated 90 degrees clockwise, the streets vaguely make out the mentioned symbol.
The “dot” on one of the end pointes of the symbol is then located on the intersection of Mount Street and Dickenson Street. Wonder if there is any significance.

Something worth noting, the image at 15:17 shows an incomplete generation loss logo. Almost like the logo itself has experienced generation loss. Maybe the logo as we know it now is incomplete? or maybe I'm stretching here.

Question: has there been technology created that can reverse the effects of generation loss (the concept, not the ARG)? Especially after showing the distorted gen9 nesquick commercial, the initial ARG video seems to be of a very similar quality, with clear instances of a grayscale change hinting that it might be the case. I am getting the impression that whichever group is controlling the text message is using said distortion as a heavy-handed symbol. Either way, i want to know what the undistorted video was before it was further tampered with to deliver the message. Worst case, it is a dead end, but one that proves the tech could work for future clues, best case we get a new perspective of the story. I dont think we have enough information to pick a side, yet. Dual censorship with even black squares, no proof that red and white text are different sides... maybe it is establishing a false narrative; a cause to support that is contrary to the organizer's (in arg universe) goals?
In the real world, no. Imagine that you have a connect-the-dots image. Imagine that with every "copy", you lose a couple dots. Since those dots can be anywhere on the page, even a small handful of dots missing can make the entire image incomprehensible or unsolvable.
Now, if they have access to the original video they can copy that as many times to yield as many "v.2" releases as they want. Inversely, if they are only on a "v.3" or "v.4" level then there wouldn't be many explicit distortions. Least of all compared to a "v.9" copy.
Or, obviously since an ARG isn't necessarily constrained to reality, the ARG's universe could have such technology.

The simplest concept would be similar to that of a reverse image search, trying to find the few matches that exist and working backwards until finding the original. Or to put it another way, using gen9 to find gen8 to find gen7... to find gen1. IF the one video is a prime example of generation loss, i wonder what potential secrets it could hide, especially if every other censored image has all the real world history attached instead of just finding random images.
I know it is likely beyond human capability, so that is why i specifically asked if tech exists to streamline the process. An in-universe explanation would be the next best thing, but in the realm of ARGs, that feels like it would be a bit too explicit a clue; at that point we are watching a fictional character solve a mystery, not solving the mystery ourselves.
