There's also the fact that Adam kinda got screwed over without Jigsaw's knowing. See in the first movie it's revealed that the key to Adam's shackles went down the drain as soon as he woke up in the tub, meaning there was no way he could've possibly been able to retrieve them at any point, basically dooming him. It's revealed in Saw III that this was due to Amanda doing a half-assed job setting Adam up, literally just tossing his key into his tub without tying it down or anything. And as we see in the Jigsaw movie, Jigsaw has intervened in games to save victims when he feels they hadn't been given a chance to survive. Shown when he rushes in to save Logan from being killed because he didn't wake up quick enough. He wants them to atleast have a chance, cause that's the whole point. So there is a precedent.
I would love to see jigsaw looking back on the tape while Amanda's strangling Adam being like " hey I'm gonna watch this tape, that was a fun time... wait.... THE KEY WENT DOWN THE DRAIN! THAT'S UNFAIR! AMANDA STOP THE KILLING!" Amanda: "what's wrong?" Jigsaw: " You screwed up! You should of tied up the key to something!" Amanda:"oh.... should I keep killing him?" Adam:*choking* Jigsaw: nah, let's make him an apprentice too." Amanda"you son of a-"
As posted i would be curious what you think would have been done with the key because the point of his test was that he was relying on others and needs to rely on himself Not to shame I want theories damm it
@Agent 39 dude I get the premise of this one trap makes no sense but the way you explain it is basically every single jigsaw trap without the context Like, take the "see no evil" trap from the best friend of the fake jigsaw victim I can litterally explain the same way you did"I'm going to teach you a lesson by uh...drugging you and...putting you in this hat that makes you can't see...in uh...this weird old house....but uh...the key is ...uh right there....Infront of you....so uh...you can get out...and uh.....report everything to the police" You aren't even accounting that ,y'know, jigsaw is right there, there's no way he would have made it that easy, it would have probably been an escape room type of thing with the key , but it ended up being the doctor (attempted) murdering adam
A fact that MatPat missed. Leigh Whannell - the guy who plays Adam - was the WRITER of the first three Saw films and he produced the last four. If anyone knew where the shackle was supposed to be it would be him! Also, he forgot to mention the magic gunshot wound that jumps around in all the movies where we see Adam's corpse.
@@futurelazarus8217 Did he though? Doesn't really seem relevant. The gunshot is just a continuity error, and the actor being the director doesn't really have anything to do with the story itself.
Also in Saw X after credit scene, you see Adam unconcious in the bathroom with the shackle on the LEFT foot. Everytime that you can clearly see it's Adam his shackle is in the left foot, and everytime you see a corpse (that could be anyone with his built) it is on RIGHT Foot. So that's a strange continuity error, if it is one. It somehow feels intentional.
Another point in favor of this was Gordon's insistence that he would come back for him. He was adamant that he wouldn't abandon him then when Gordon is saved he never mentions Adam again? Plus Adam's specialty is taking innocuous photographs and future contestants had many photos to go with their files.
@@TraceguyRune that doesn’t matter, his game was to survive till six PM at any cost. Which he did, besides I guess he could have done that but it wouldn’t have allowed him to survive
the game itself was so frustrating and unfair, Adam was tasked to find a way to live and escape but unfortunately the key that was supposed to save them fell into the bath pipe where Adam was sleeping so when he woke up it fell in, but the big problem was Amanda, she just threw the key in...what!? they could have been saved if she didn't threw the freaking key into the stupid bathtub! 😩 If she hid it properly like a normal game everything would have been fine they could have walked free or something like that...
He had followers. It's even revealed at the end of the final chapter there's a cult led by Dr Gordon to carry on his legacy. This is an interesting theory, but it really doesn't make sense and has no basis of fact.
I love this theory. He was a favorite and didn’t deserve to die. Him being the one to pull the strings that lead to Jigsaw’s death is great and a perfect fate for him.
A lot of fans did think it was odd in the last scene of Saw 7 (not calling it "the final chapter") when Dr. Gordon saw Adam's corpse but had no visible reaction to it, which would make sense if at that point he knew it wasn't really Adam. Also in Saw 8 and Saw 9 we still don't have a Jigsaw apprentice who could have done the surveillance and photography Adam was known for, so honestly the characters and the films themselves seem to support MatPat's theory.
I will agree, but will this just be season one? Just the classic cast seasons of 1 to 3? What about the rest of the normal seasons, like revenge, all stars, and pakitu? Is ridonculous race gonna have some part in this, might it become a series sorting out these parts?
@@Charlie-xu4fw was it a part of his stipulated goal? additionally John would've cured him if in his eyes he won, so if Adam succeeded his game based off jigsaws merits we can neglect the poison
Its a shame you didnt mention that in The Final Chapter we have two apprentices alongside Gordon in covered pig masks. Its actually a big point of debate of who exactly is under there, and having Adam be one oddly fits
It’s the two boys from the public trap from the beginning of the movie. I haven’t seen this “debated on” as I remember it was either an interview or commentary that explained it.
Funny thing about "Teamwork." No two of Jigsaw's apprentices were ever teammates. Hoffman pretty much just hated/fought with everyone else while no two others besides him interacted with one another.
@@beefinton Whoa, really? That's surprisingly wholesome, in a weird way. Two spurned boyfriends breaking up with a cheating ex to become best jigsaw buds.
There also was a deleted scene in Saw 3 where there's a flashback of Amanda running into Adam and having a nice conversation a while before they kidnap him. It's actually probably one of the nicest scenes of the entire franchise and could explain why Amanda wouldn't be able to go through with it. Always felt like Adam was one of the most likeable characters of the entire franchise and didn't deserve his supposed fate. All that he did wrong was be a voyeur, something Jigsaw ALSO was in the first movie when they didn't glorify him as much. They made it pretty clear he was a bit of a hypocrite in the first film instead of the dumb psuedo-philosophical crap the later films tried.
It's actually setup in the very first scene, very first act of the very first movie- on who the actual accomplice is. Adam was planted. If you watch the first movie and pay really close attention to detail, it is subtlety hinted that he is helping Jigsaw. Throughout the entire series, it's hinted. This is a storyline you have to use your eyes for, not just your ears. So the amazing psychology behind the way it's written and acted out is absolutely mind blowing. It's a beautiful film and franchise for this reason alone.
@@AmandaDixson Now I'm going to have to rewatch it. I loved Saw when I first saw it, it had that Memento vibe to it and the twist actually surprised me.
Good news, this was confirmed to be the case in DVD commentary on Saw 7. There were plans for Saw 7 to be a massive 2 parter with both Adam and Gordon making a reappearance as Jigsaw’s loyal apprentices, with Adam’s body being swapped out (which is why there’s a dual continuity error as pointed out in the video) for Detective Tapp’s. However, due to saw 6 not performing well at the box office, they only got one movie to finish the story.
Honestly, Knowing how the Saw series works and how many plot twist and undead characters show up in the movies. I'm gonna say that Mat is 80% right on this one
The only problem with this is I think that the way saw directing goes unless Leigh refused to retake his part as Adam they would’ve had some giant big reveal showing that this was happening all along, unless they actually did something genuinely smart in the series for once and intentionally left in unknown in which case props to them but the way all the other movies went I’m just not so sure
Matt forgot one crucial detail. Amanda failed her apprenticeship for Jigsaw because she made her traps unwinnable, a key example being Officer Kerry. She made plenty of mistakes that Jigsaw could never clean up because she killed people and didn't care about rehabilitating them.
Perhaps due to some variation of Stockholm Syndrome. Amanda became almost codependent of Jigsaw after encountering him. Gordon became Jigsaw's most reliable apprentice after he "helped him recover". All apprentices except for maybe Hoffman think that Jigsaw was helping them by putting them in the traps.
Man People who get molested as a child usually ends up doing some molesting. Sooo subject A knows how bad it sucked having their innocent taken from them, but sometimes will end up spreading the depression.
I know this is somewhat irrelevant to the subject but there’s a famous quote that says “a slave does not dream of freedom, but enslaving others”. Could explain this a little bit
I always hoped that Adam would return by the end of the series but all we got was an inconsistently placed corpse. I think the problem was that the actor was also the writer and producer, a lot of people see it as self-centered or something, even his really small role in Insidious got people triggered.
@@kirkmarcuz635Tbh I think the theory might be right, it makes sense + SAW X is in between the first and second movie and knowing the franchise, there probably will be a plot twist so maybe we can hope this is the case
Adam being alive could also help explain why Gordon joined Kramer. In "Jigsaw" its shown that Kramer will rescue someone who is not given a chance to escape. Given that Amanda haphazardly threw the key into the tub, allowing it to wash away, this would certainly be a game Adam would be unable to escape from. After being nursed by Kramer back to health, and seeing that Kramer actually cares about his victims' "rehabilitation" through his rescue of Adam, Gordon would be more likely to be sympathetic towards Kramer's ideology.
@@DarkDodgers Logan, in Jigsaw. He made a mistake while setting up the trap and drugged Logan too heavily, as a result Logan woke up with only a few seconds to spare before his trap activated, Jigsaw rushed in and saved him because he didn't want Logan to die because of a mistake that he made.
And technically, Adam won his game, but Zep got a toilet tank lid to the head, and was beaten to death. Giving Dr. Gordon the ability to “win” Edit: Thank you for reminding me I was wrong, I’m sorry.
@@mask938I mean. That’s kinda weird in my opinion cuz in the same film jigsaw basically forces amanda to cut a guy open to get a key to get outta there
I would love to see a Jigsaw movie where Dr. Gordon and Adam work together and carry on Kramer's work. Dr. Gordon was perhaps the only apprentice who actually did everything right and was the only one that didn't go off and do things his own way. And if this theory is right, then Adam also was loyal to Kramer and followed Kramer's teachings.
@@Loch1210if we’re talkin about what Gordon did to Hoffman… in fairness, Gordon was listening to what jigsaw said in “if anything ever happens to my wife, I want you to act immediately “ or something like that Thisss was probably what jigsaw meant
I actually believe this. Adam is the only known photographer in the series. He’s like Saw’s TMZ reporter, taking stalker photos, except that he’s hired by anonymous clients to do so. So theoretically he could be hired by anyone and not know who they are, like Hoffman or Kramer.
More like 12 because the final chapter which ties all the movies together came out in 2010. Without the flashbacks and story in that movie, most of these theories wouldn’t make sense, a lot of evidence in these videos comes from the last few saw movies.
I've been salty about Adam's death ever since I watched the movie for the very first time so many years ago now...and this video has given me a sense of closure. So for that...I thank you. Truly. From the bottom of my heart. This is my personal head canon now.
Leigh Whannell, the actor that played Adam, was also a writer of Saw I-III, and also also the executive producer of every movie within the franchise (including Spiral and Jigsaw) except the first one. Think he would've been the one to catch some inconsistencies or notice the misplaced shackle or magical moving bullet hole.
@xrrxy vvoi Well, the point of the key not being tied down was perhaps so it could slide down the drain. It did have a glowstick attached. Makes me wonder. If Gordon were to succeed in killing Adam, where was his key? Zepp didn't have it.
One major detail to notice that may go over someone's head considering it happens in the very first movie at the beginning is that Adam accidentally unplugged the tub and then the key goes down the drain. The plot of the game was to have Adam able to move around Jigsaw doesn't know this happened because he was knocked out faking his death. The way he saved that one guy in "Jigsaw" because he had a bigger dose that had him knocked out and able to wake up in time to participate in the game. Or the way that the scans were accidentally mixed up it's known that if Jigsaw makes a real mistake he then fixes it or "saves" the participant. So considering Adam accidentally unplugged the tub I think Jigsaw saved him once he realized he made a mistake.
Yeah, he was supposed to be given the key in a way he could use it, and it wouldn't be lost, but instead it's Amanda who messes up the game by carelessly throwing the key into the tub instead, which causes it to be lost, rigging Adam's game from the start. And Jigsaw has made it very apparent he doesn't like rigged traps, so I could see him going back for Adam if he found that out
@@casper5157not to mention Gordon would probably be constantly mentioning Adam, he made a promise that he would he come back for him and there’s no way he’d become Jigsaws apprentice if Adam was killed
Glad to see another Saw video. Such an interesting franchise. I do wish more people had won their games. It would have made for a better story if I felt like the contestants had a real chance to live.
But think about when these movies were released. At the time, the hype/advertisement for the movie was around the creative ways people died by the traps. In the long run I agree that more people should have survived but I think audiences at the time would have been disappointed with so many making it out.
@@-._.-KRiS-._.- John Kramer's goal was to rehabilitate people in his own cruel way. Make them stare down the barrel of the gun, so they realize what they've been missing. When Detective Hoffman takes over, he kills some people for the cruelty of it, but is still mostly following Kramer's instructions.
Does make sense since Jigsaw in Saw 3 mention Amanda's weakness is 'her emotions'. Her abrupt crying at the 36 second mark was her weakness giving in, allowing Adam to live.
Fun fact: There are several errors in the movies that made people theorize Adam was saved, and his corpse was replaced with another victim's body: - In Saw and Saw III, Adam was chained by his left ankle, but in Saw II and Saw 3D, his corpse was chained by his right ankle. - In Saw II, Adam's head was tilted downward, while in Saw 3D, his skull was upward and tilted. - In Saw and Adam's death scene in Saw III, his gunshot wound was on his shoulder. However, in Saw II and the opening scene of Saw III, it was just above his chest, while in Saw 3D, it appeared to be on his stomach. - Some theorists believe that the corpse was, in fact, David Tapp due to his gunshot wound in the stomach matching with the dead body's injury.
I want more Saw film theories, I think they get a bad wrap for "turtore pr0n" and while the last few movies have been more about "how elaborate can we make the traps" the first 5 I would say actually had a pretty decent plotline throughout them. More aggressive movies I think absolutely qualify is the Hostel series. THAT is stepping into torture pr0n.
Lol, “the first 5”? How could you do this injustice to Saw 6? How could you say this? Saw 6 was amazing and the best rated Saw film since the first two… but I understand you were just giving a general statement of the earlier films were better than the later 😂
I like how there were mysteries surrounding every movie. It was a nice tradition every Halloween to go see the newest Saw movie. We all knew Gordon would show up again at some point. We knew Donnie Wahlberg's character would show up again alive at some point. I always had the theory that the pathologist who performed the autopsies was in on it with Jigsaw. Hoffman jumped out of the body bag and killed him but that doesn't mean anything. Perhaps Hoffman knew he was part of it and wanted to cover his tracks by killing him.
I really like this theory and hope it's true. I recently watched the first 2 saw movies and I honestly really like Adam. He's not the greatest person but he does show genuine care for Gordon and his family and even acts selflessly towards the end. Plus he can be funny at times.
Honestly, I love this. Thank you Matpat and Co, for theorizing on horror movies like this, cause I love horror movie lore. And I want this to be true, it’d be so fitting. Instead of a bunch of coincidences all at once, one person happening to find something out and things fracturing, it’s a series of manipulated dominoes being toppled, just like how Jigsaw works, but his own twisted modus operandi was used against him. And I also liked Adam (I dunno why I do, he’s not particularly likable, I just find him entertaining), so the first victim of the first game we see in Saw being the person to finally pull the trigger, and end Jigsaw’s madness? It’d be beautiful. (Also, to everyone who may say “it’s just a leg shackle, why would they care about that detail”, it was literally pointed out by Jigsaw himself in the movie. If they wanted to recreate everything, they’d have to had watched the film, and had to have seen that detail being mentioned. If something’s pointed out like that, it wouldn’t make sense to just blow it off if you’re trying to go ALL in. Then again, maybe I’m just playing devil’s advocate.)
The saw movies always made random plot points and made them mysteriously unanswered so they had material for future films. When Amanda found that note in 3, the writers didn't actually know what was in the note, they just added it as a seed for a future plotline. The franchise is filled with those, and some were left untouched. It's just a product of the haphazard writing method they used for the franchise. Plant a seed now, make up an explanation later.
@@captaincaptain2128 I agree. Why would they Even plant a dead body there in the first place to replace Adam. I havent seen the movies in a while, but it doesnt really make sense, unless they planted it there for the audience
Fun fact, the pilot short film for saw that essentially made the movie get the green light has Leigh Wannel, the guy who plays adam, in the same position as Amanda. He is in the reverse bear trap.
I was never a big fan of Saw movies but from what I watched I always had a feeling Adam wasn't dead and ended up working with Kramer. It just seemed very suspicious for him to be just left for dead and felt more like a scare tactic to soften him up to the idea of working for Kramer. Like Kramer was planning on "rescuing him" from the brink of death to recruit him as a loyal accomplice.
Yea and I always wondered when Gordon promised to come back to save him after he becomes an apprentice did he go back? Or did John realize he followed the rules of his game
"Hello Mathew Patrick. I want to play a game. All you have done is sit around in a closet, recording videos for the people on the internet to see and spreading theories. Today, your theories will be put to the test." Before anyone can get mad at me, he has said before that he literally does recordings in a closet. I'm not sure if that's the case now but it used to be the case. So.
Theyll totally recast Adam tho, Leigh along w James exited the franchise at 3 or 4. Unless those two themselves are the ones that decide to do a revival. Even then who knows if Leigh would still want to revive Adam.
Another thing that could be added onto it is that jigsaw usually puts his followers into a game prior to them joining. Like a test of strength/cleansing of their sins. If they survive and see what he is doing, they would respect the work more and be more committed. Kinda like a do onto you what you are going to do onto others so you understand their pain and suffering
I love the Saw movies so much and Adam is my favorite character out of all of them and me and my friends, and other people online, have been talking about this theory that adam is alive and maybe working for jigsaw. I even noticed the detail about the chain on adam's corpse being on the wrong foot implying that someone freed adam and replaced him with a fake corpse.
It's definitely the guy who killed Jigsaw, because he's also the inventor of saw and wrote the script for the first movies. Also involved in insidious franchise and the new recent invisible man movie, wich is also great fun.
I feel like he is alive but he doesn’t seem like the type of guy to join jigsaw he’s very young and his personality doesn’t seem like the type of guy to do that
I came in thinking that this was going to be a stretch but I have to admit that this is a solid theory. Another justification could be that Jigsaw, like he did in the film 'Jigsaw', could have realised that Adam wasn't guilty enough to justify his punishment and could have offered salvation in the form of being an accomplice.
But remember Jeff’s wife she was chosen to be killed for taking anti depressants and the wife of the guy from saw 3d was killed for no real good reason
It is a stretch - the only actual piece of evidence is the 'wrong leg chained' evidence. The rest is just conjecture of plot points based on the idea that Adam was actually alive and working with Jigsaw. The wrong leg chained evidence isn't enough to support the theory on its own, as continuity errors are a thing in almost every film (let alone across a series of films), so while it would be very bad luck for production to make the same mistake twice in two different movies, it's definitely not impossible.
It's actually the storyline; not a theory. Adam has always been the accomplice. It's made clear in the first movie. You have to pay extra close attention to notice.
I agree. And the funny thing is, that only when it is an unrecognisable corpse, the shackle is on the wrong foot. In all scenes in which it is clearly Adam, it's on the left foot and in every scene we don't get the answer if he's dead or alive. But also, didn't Gordon say at the end of Saw that he would get help? And why would John give Adam the chance to get the key at the beginning of the game, if he didn't want him to survive. Hadn't Amanda rigged the game and only not only trown the key into the bathtub, then Adam would have been able to leave as soon as Zep entered the bathroom after the time was up.
I just finished binging 1-9 and I’m amazed by what you came up with. I literally thought the first photo I saw in iv was weird and I was like “who you go taking pics for you?” But I never even thought it could be Adam cuz of the corpse in the bathroom. You blew my mind with this video lol
Beside the wife of that guy who lied about being a Jigsaw victim, I always thought Adam got the rawest deal out of anyone in the franchise. If this theory is true, that would be so awesome.
I want a SAW movie were the victims has common sense, knows about the ways of Jigsaw, and are not easily manipulated... Would be interesting to watch... Like a game of chess... How many steps would the killer take so the survivors makes their mistake make sense... No keys going down the drain while unconscious... No death sentence traps... No McGuffins or plot devices... Just a pure match between intellectual individuals... *Edit: Beware of bots everyone!*
@@bobz1782 Everything Evil Dead is amazing, Evil Dead 1 and 2, Army Of Darkness, and Ash Vs. Evil Dead. If you haven't seen 1, 2, and 3 I'd recommend watching those before the show.
For Jigsaw accomplices, you forgot Art - his business partner and lawyer. Art is who he got all the information from for the victims in Saw V (and presumably Saw II). Who, other than priests and lawyers, knows everyone's greatest sins?
To be far, Adam could be like that, just more on the field, taking photos and seeing what they’re doing physically, outside the docs and files and confessions.
Art was not an accomplice, it was part of his trap to facilitate the game in the movie. He had some kind of trap that would damage his spine and paralyze him.
I would not at all be surprised if this theory ends up being true. The Saw Franchise LOVES pullings twists like this, not just to give a sense of overall continutity, but also to surprise the audience in a way that not only answers questions that weren't answered in the film but also give a sense that everything still someway ties back to any of the events from the first movie.
Personally I really like this idea and not just because I’m a recent convert to Chainshipping. It sucks that Adam has apparently been confirmed dead since the second movie.
Actually it was originally planned for saw 7 to be 2 parts, one with Gordon and one with Adam, but due to saw 6 failing it was restricted to one part, so Adam has a good chance of being alive
Hey Matt. I just wanted to say that you and the team are doing a good job. I feel like so many people make fun of you and the channel and not enough people recognise that there is effort put into the channel and your videos. Thanks for sticking around and trying your best.
@@rasheedyoufreealrajhi6022 oh no I definitely agree. I’m not saying every theory he has made is gospel. I do think the same sort of thing but at the same time i can’t hate the guy…although he might need to get some sleep or take a short break…
Funny enough in the Jigsaw film, Jigsaw let's a guy go because he messed up and nearly killed him while he was unconscious. That film presents Jigsaw as shockingly fair and reasonable.
This has honestly been a personal headcannon of mine ever since I finished the series. These movies love bringing things full circle and I think bringing Adam back like this would be perfect. Honestly makes me wonder if an idea like this would be enough to bring Leigh Whannell back to the series (if they end up making more).
@bo rick When it comes to the SAW fan base and the theories that people had for it. SAW never really had much attention and was simply remembered as that gory horror film with gory traps but never recognized for its ingenious psychological thriller elements.
Yes! I watched the entire series in 2020 and I’ve noticed a lot of other people picking it up around then as well. It’s one of my favorite series now :)
After Jigsaw and Saw X, I believe this theory even more. John wouldn't condemn a man to death just because he didn't know there was a key in that bathtub. And Dr. Gordon wouldn't just leave him after he promised to come back. John's had to second guess things before, like with Logan in Jigsaw and that custodian in Saw X. Why wouldn't he second guess the fate of his most infamous victim?
As a DIE hard fan of the Saw series, and ALWAYS been digging deeper and deeper into the storyline. I think your right about this theory Mattpat. If Chris makes another saw...THIS might save the series. But then again, if we ALL know the ending...then the entire movie is blown. My guess, this is true, and Adam will die off mid way through the movie in a trap to keep us aways from this theory
@@night31869 saw x is happening. There is speculation that it is a prequel based on John Kramer. Hopefully revealing more on his earlier traps and accomplices
Well Saw X which takes place between Saw 1 & Saw 2 could semi make this theory true, which I am so hoping for, since I love Adam's character, it's a shame what they seemingly did to him in this series in Saw 3, which is not realistic for a person to die of suffocation for 36 seconds.
With the release of Saw X, this theory seems more and more plausible the longer time goes on, especially with the ending of X showing both Amanda and Hoffman. Who knows, maybe we’ll get what we’re looking for and Leigh Whannell can return as Adam
Matt Pat I swear to God stay out of my search history I have been looking up homemade table saws trying to make a design and here you are making a video of Saw I'm so proud of you.
I kinda like the idea that a secret villain gets away and it's never truly revealed, only through hints and clues left for us to figure out. I wish films and shows would have something like that for us to figure out.
As a saw fan I remember at one point, I liked the idea that Dr Gordon some how saved Adam and became allies or something...but this theory is awesome to so✌️ am content 🙃 Also I hated how the key that was going to save them fell into the pipe being lost forever. so the way the game ends with Adam being stuck was frustrating am I the only one who felt this way?
jigsaw could have also saved adam because, in saw 2 or 3 it's shown that amanda threw the key to their shackles into the tub where it was then sucked down the drain basically screwing them . jigsaw could have looked at the cameras after the ending and saw the potential of having adam on his side and unfairness in adam "death"
Also the last line that was said in the montage right before the infamous “game over” was “some people are so ungrateful to be alive, not you, not anymore.” The line that comes when you survive a trap. That seems like an odd line to play right before someone gets sealed away to die. Alls I’m sayin hoss.

I wish my phone didn't die so I didn't have to use my mom's to give this comment
Saw is probably my favorite horror series, partially from nostalgia, the ‘lore’ or the series is severely underrated and deep, and I’m super excited to see FT do a theory over this, but I have to say, what a weird choice. Thank you regardless
UA-cam algorithm recommended me you, this my first video of yours. Good editing, narration, quips, breakdown. Interesting theory to be picked up on if they decide to continue the SAW Franchise mythos.
I’d like to think that Jigsaw knew what was happening because of Adam telling him about it and planned his own death, using it to set up the challenges for his followers who failed him. That he told Adam to tell the detective about Amanda so that the chain of events played out how he wanted
SIX!? Bro I am 15 and I had a hard enough time sleeping after the first one (Me personally am not planning on watching more then the first one I got the point and that's enough for me, not so much scary but makes you think which is not helpful when trying to sleep especially for me) 😂
@@alexislennon4973 It was rough thats for sure! I made myself cope with it by telling myself it's just a movie and that it's not real. But it doesn't change the fact that I still have creepy memories of movie scenes and I have no idea what movies they're from!
Y'know, there's one more piece of evidence that helps this theory. The movie "Jigsaw" shows John saving someone who was about to die because they were asleep and then took him as his apprentice. Was kinda hoping that Matt would've pointed this out, tbh
I know this was filmed two years ago. My thought was that jigsaw made Daniel Matthews an apprentice he’s seemingly learned his lesson and knows about cameras too. I remember in the second movie he calls out the surveillance cam for not picking up audio. For all we know, Detective Matthews and his infidelity is called out by Adam this whole time too.
This is what I didn't understand. Adam was just supposed to survive. He didn't have a specific task to accomplish like many others who are tested by John. It didn't make sense why John would shut the door on him and leave him locked away when he should have let him go once the game was complete because he did survive until the time expired, meaning that he technically won since he was still alive after the indicated time had passed.
Adam is by far the best character in saw, and Matpat is by far the best youtuber on youtube, a video i never knew i needed. Jokes aside, this is a great theory, and i 100% think that Adam is alive.
I wouldn't be surprised if there are tapes filmed by Tobin Bell himself for use in future films in case he dies in real world. This is mindblowing, and makes a lot of sence, photographer guy should be a puppet master no less to be able to track all those people down.
Also in Saw X after credit scene, you see Adam unconcious in the bathroom with the shackle on the LEFT foot.

Always felt like Adam was one of the most likeable characters of the entire franchise and didn't deserve his supposed fate. I love how Matt is still making theories almost 2 decades after the movie has come out
He's made theories on some of the earlier Disney movies, which are at least 80 years old.
That’s what I’m hoping
Wasn't this kind of an early precursor to Squid Game? I always fell the traps were made so that there would always be just a single "winner".
@@-._.-KRiS-._.- John Kramer's goal was to rehabilitate people in his own cruel way. Make them stare down the barrel of the gun, so they realize what they've been missing. Does make sense since Jigsaw in Saw 3 mention Amanda's weakness is 'her emotions'. Her abrupt crying at the 36 second mark was her weakness giving in, allowing Adam to live.
Fun fact: There are several errors in the movies that made people theorize Adam was saved, and his corpse was replaced with another victim's body:
- In Saw and Saw III, Adam was chained by his left ankle, but in Saw II and Saw 3D, his corpse was chained by his right ankle.

The saw movies always made random plot points and made them mysteriously unanswered so they had material for future films. When Amanda found that note in 3, the writers didn't actually know what was in the note, they just added it as a seed for a future plotline. I was never a big fan of Saw movies but from what I watched I always had a feeling Adam wasn't dead and ended up working with Kramer. It just seemed very suspicious for him to be just left for dead and felt more like a scare tactic to soften him up to the idea of working for Kramer. Theyll totally recast Adam tho, Leigh along w James exited the franchise at 3 or 4. Unless those two themselves are the ones that decide to do a revival. Even then who knows if Leigh would still want to revive Adam.

@@whodatboi2567 thanks man
It is a stretch - the only actual piece of evidence is the 'wrong leg chained' evidence.
The shackle on the the wrong foot is a detail that makes this all plausible.

Art wasn’t an accomplice, more of he had a bigger role in jigsaw’s games yet still being in a game himself, kind of like Zepp
Art was not an accomplice, it was part of his trap to facilitate the game in the movie. He had some kind of trap that would damage his spine and paralyze him.
I guess it's official, Matpat is the best fix-it-fic writer ever
I love how much he puts into all his theories and makes it actually make sense. Keep up the good work matpat!!!

Hey Matt. I just wanted to say that you and the team are doing a good job. I feel like so many people make fun of you and the channel and not enough people recognise that there is effort put into the channel and your videos. Thanks for sticking around and trying your best.
i think its because of of the batshit insanity in the conclusions they make. instead of it being lazy

I love the Saw movies so much, I'm happy to see it get a theory, and it does make a lot of sense Saw loves to bring back supposedly Dead characters.

same, the saw franchise is great
Im glad the saw franchise is finally getting the attention it deserves again
@bo rick never really lacked it-
@bo rick When it comes to the SAW fan base and the theories that people had for it.
I also kinda hope that Hoffmann is still alive somehow. That would be a few twists, if they revealed Adam and Hoffman being alive in a new movie
@@night31869 saw x is happening. There is speculation that it is a prequel based on John Kramer. Hopefully revealing more on his earlier traps and accomplices
@@kabir.goyal0072I prefer that!
Well Saw X which takes place between Saw 1 & Saw 2 could semi make this theory true, which I am so hoping for, since I love Adam's character, it's a shame what they seemingly did to him in this series in Saw 3, which is not realistic for a person to die of suffocation for 36 seconds.
Now THIS is the ammo I needed to fill my 'Adam is still alive' cup for the day thank you
I'm definitely going to have to rewatch all the Saws now

woww i was really ready to come into this video with the mindset of “dude we saw him being suffocated” but you have made a very compelling case
3:10 the real jigsaw was the dismemberment we made along the way
With the release of Saw X, this theory seems more and more plausible the longer time goes on, especially with the ending of X showing both Amanda and Hoffman. Who knows, maybe we’ll get what we’re looking for and Leigh Whannell can return as Adam

His body was found in the gas house. And he wouldn’t be fully decomposed at this point

@Don't Read My Profile Photo yes I will not
I kinda like the idea that a secret villain gets away and it's never truly revealed, only through hints and clues left for us to figure out. I wish films and shows would have something like that for us to figure out.
Next saw “I want to play a game. This trap is having to stick your hand in the toilet. The key is stuck on a pipe”
As a saw fan I remember at one point, I liked the idea that Dr Gordon some how saved Adam and became allies or something...but this theory is awesome to so✌️ am content 🙃
Also I hated how the key that was going to save them fell into the pipe being lost forever. so the way the game ends with Adam being stuck was frustrating am I the only one who felt this way?
Same
jigsaw could have also saved adam because, in saw 2 or 3 it's shown that amanda threw the key to their shackles into the tub where it was then sucked down the drain basically screwing them . jigsaw could have looked at the cameras after the ending and saw the potential of having adam on his side and unfairness in adam "death"
And Gordon would also be pleading Adams case, he said he would save Adam and joining Jigsaw after he killed Adam would make no sense
I love the Saw series, its one of my favourite horror franchises! I'm glad MatPat is doing another theory on it! ✨
Mel pfp nice
Pls someone tell me am I the only real person here?
I totally agree lol. There are so many bots here that I can't tell who are the real people lmao. Still think saw is one of the best series made.
The bots outshine the people
Also the last line that was said in the montage right before the infamous “game over” was “some people are so ungrateful to be alive, not you, not anymore.” The line that comes when you survive a trap. That seems like an odd line to play right before someone gets sealed away to die. Alls I’m sayin hoss.
actually the theory that Adam was working for Jigsaw before the bathroom game would explain why Amanda hated him from day one
I swear his intros get better and better, and I love how they have their own lore (Mickey Vs Mat arc) and like they give you little objects to look out for that spell a secret message. It's the little things man...
Is it just me or does 0:36 the impersonation of Billy look like Slappy from Goosebumps?
Can we talk about how much good subliminal editing has done with film theories videos?! I mean at 1:40 even the cutouts that he created all match the same lighting situation... come on I mean who else is going to catch that kind of thing? Props to you Matt Pat and your editors... I wish my phone didn't die so I didn't have to use my mom's to give this comment
English Teachers: Sometimes not showing anything can show the rest.
MatPat: I'm about to end this man's entire career.
Saw is probably my favorite horror series, partially from nostalgia, the ‘lore’ or the series is severely underrated and deep, and I’m super excited to see FT do a theory over this, but I have to say, what a weird choice. Thank you regardless
The series is dumb. Jigsaw has no right to judge anybody.
@@anzaca1 That's not being dumb. It's a flaw of character. He's a hypocrite with messiah complex.
UA-cam algorithm recommended me you, this my first video of yours. Good editing, narration, quips, breakdown. Interesting theory to be picked up on if they decide to continue the SAW Franchise mythos.
5:04
Best ever scene to exist in SAW.
I always liked the idea of Adam actually getting out, so I'm very into this theory
This entire theory is built around the idea that no one else can take pictures
No it’s not
I’d like to think that Jigsaw knew what was happening because of Adam telling him about it and planned his own death, using it to set up the challenges for his followers who failed him. That he told Adam to tell the detective about Amanda so that the chain of events played out how he wanted
Didn't realize this was from a year ago. MatPat's voice after the cold open literally jumpscared me.
Unlocking memories I forgot I had when I watched this franchise at 6 years old! Thanks MatPat 🙃

Y'know, there's one more piece of evidence that helps this theory. The movie "Jigsaw" shows John saving someone who was about to die because they were asleep and then took him as his apprentice. Was kinda hoping that Matt would've pointed this out, tbh
@@MBG.426 Well, yeah, but this doesn't disprove that he couldn't have saved someone else.
Can we all appreciate the variety and quality of these channels from the theorists team? Its amazing.
What if it was so he could convince Gordon to join him, as a sort of hostage, then once Gordon joins him he can use Gordon to convince Adam to join
