To answer Matpat's burning questiin of "Why Purple is considered evil", for starter purple is very uncommon in nature, few animals and plants have it, which makes it quite the warning for animals looking to eat something in that color, iirc. Also in popular media, since purple is the mix of Blue and Red, Blue being related to calm, intelligence and rationality while Red is associated to anger, madness or power, it sort of makes this a mix of "Intelligent/Rational Anger/Power" which is what villains are at its core, a rational power hungry individual. hidden blade works for Assassins as a hidden weapon perfect for sneaky kills, but for a kid wanting to fight or protect herself (like a shield) it should've been on the opposite side of her arm. there's no way it's practical for her to do any sort of damage to anyone but herself the way she's wielding it. they should've just made the whole arm one giant blade as i'm sure she can't even hold an egg with it if she has no control over her grip. and if she does have control then the arm itself is a weapon or brute force and no blade is necessary since she can just choke and crush anything she lays her hand on.

Mace Windu's lightsaber is purple to represent his connection between the light and dark sides of the force, in fact he was even mistaken to be a sith intruder to one of the guards within the jedi temple due to his connection to the dark side, the guard only backed down after identifying it was Mace Windu who it had sensed in the temple. Despite his connection to the dark side however, he does not actually use his own dark side in combat. Instead he acts as a conduit to direct his opponents own dark side based power back at them using his connection to it without drawing on the dark side himself.
Sorry to throw a wrench in the whole “Rodger is the Brute” theory, but the Brute was depicted in the tome…sort of. In the Hospice series, there are pages that were torn from the tome and one of them depicts the Brute. But this doesn’t mean we won’t see the monster that Rodger did turn into, it just won’t be the Brute.
@@JK-xn4mj The only reason I can see why Matt didn’t know about this tidbit is because Hospice isn’t popular…well, isn’t as popular as other series such as: Look-See, Girl in the Woods, Sunny Family Cult, and Mordeo. He most likely focused more the big name series in Crypt Universe. Sometimes when you focus on the big picture, you don’t see some of the details that builds it up.
here’s a theory: victor from “The Corpse Bride” is jack skellington. think about it. victor is very tall and frail. so is jack. notice the similarities in his suit he wore for the marriage with the corpse, to jack’s. also, when he somehow came back to the underworld as jack, it looked much different. so it’s entirely possible that he probably died and somehow was chosen as the king of the underworld which he later named “halloween town”. idk- i had watched both movies last night and was just thinking about it lol.
Not nearly as grotesque or anything, but Tales Dark and Grim is far more brutal than I would have thought for a show rated 7+, like kids shows shock me how brutal they get. Spoiler for the show: Gretel chops her finger off to open a door, it's done in siliutte, but still
HAPPY HALLOWEEN TO ALL THE WONDERFUL THEORISTS WATCHING THIS TODAY. And to Matpat and his theory crew, may they unmask all the truths hidden in the shows and games.
While interesting, and likely on the right track, I do believe this theory may be probably false already. The main reason being that while we don't necessarily know the exact timeline of all the Crypt TV videos, we do know that they aren't released in chronological order (the Brute reappears in the Hospice videos long before Cassie returns to accidentally open his door a second time, implying those events took place out of order). While the Brute could theoretically be the man from the Sunny Family Cult, the odds are slim to none since we see that the Colony seems to have been around for quite some time, and that door is quite old, and the children are treating the Brute's rhyme like a boogeyman story told to scare kids, implying that the door has been sealed for so long that no modern experiences have been had, leading the less faithful to question it's existence. That man certainly became a monster, that's certainly to true, but I don't think he became THE Brute.
"Time. Time is an artificial construct. An arbitrary system based on the idea that events occur in a linear direction at all times.” "Always forward, never back. Is the concept of time correct? Is time relevant? It matters not. One way or another, I fear that our time has run out." Quotes from Old Uncle Sheogorath. when dealing with the eldritch sometimes things can get weird.
The girl in the woods story is rebooted no longer having the brute come out of the door instead it's a different monster Which made more sense cause why would Roger be in the door when he transformed in the real world.
@@luko441 You're making a lot of assumptions. While it is a reboot of sorts, what makes you think the Brute isn't the featured creature? Or for that matter that MatPat is right, leading to the circular logic of why it doesn't make sense for Brute to come out of the door? Brute coming out of the door makes perfect sense because MatPat isn't right this time (he rarely is, and that's okay, we're not here for accurate predictions, we're here for the entertainment of someone trying).
ngl the "The door in the woods" short gave me nightmares. Like why is it so detailed and graphic?! Like the gore in that short was some walking dead level of gore imo.
I’ve seen most of The Girl in the Woods, but I wasn’t familiar with the short films. Mild spoilers ahead, so read no further if you don’t want some details ruined. Based on this, it seems like they’re creating a second universe though. I haven’t seen any of the purple rocks, for example, but they use a mineral called devil bone to make their weapons that harm the monsters. It looks like gold, which is important to the plot, but doesn’t glow purple. Also, Arthur, an important character, has a freakin katana made from that stuff, which is totally badass! And Carrie loses her arm in a different way as explained through flashbacks, so I imagine they’re trying something new. If this is a separate universe, it might contain parallels to the things they’ve done in their short films. All the same, it’s a well done series and a good watch.
I think that the world the brute lives in is actually going to be a parallel world. Like two worlds with similar/the same people except certain people became monsters while others might not have. It would at least explain why some differences happen as the crypt appears to be changing some things and yet it also appears like a continuation of their stories
Thank you so much for watching the show and nice picking up on those details! The world in this show is parallel to our previously created universe so some characters/events stay the same but some things are slightly different. Let us know if y'all have questions!!

Matt Pat will probably never see this but in response to his comment about the color purple being the color of evil, there is a good explanation. Comic book readers can attest that generally heroes dress in primary colors (red, blue, green) whereas villains usually dress in secondary colors (purple, green, orange etc). Primary colors seem striking and noticeable, while secondary ones seem like perversions of the former. Additionally, purple in particular is considered the color of mourning in many cultures around the world, which makes it ideal for use in horror movies.

So if this monster truly is Roger then does this mean that the Sunny Family Cult became the protectors of the door and over time lost interest in killing others? Because her father passed away meaning she might be the new leader and change some things about the cult especially now that there is a new monster running around after them. That's just my take on this theory which I hope would be the case if Mat Pat is correct.

hidden blade works for Assassins as a hidden weapon perfect for sneaky kills, but for a kid wanting to fight or protect herself (like a shield) it should've been on the opposite side of her arm. there's no way it's practical for her to do any sort of damage to anyone but herself the way she's wielding it. they should've just made the whole arm one giant blade as i'm sure she can't even hold an egg with it if she has no control over her grip. and if she does have control then the arm itself is a weapon or brute force and no blade is necessary since she can just choke and crush anything she lays her hand on.

Sorry to throw a wrench in the whole “Rodger is the Brute” theory, but the Brute was depicted in the tome…sort of. In the Hospice series, there are pages that were torn from the tome and one of them depicts the Brute. But this doesn’t mean we won’t see the monster that Rodger did turn into, it just won’t be the Brute.

here’s a theory:
victor from “The Corpse Bride” is jack skellington.
think about it.
victor is very tall and frail. so is jack. notice the similarities in his suit he wore for the marriage with the corpse, to jack’s. also, when he somehow came back to the underworld as jack, it looked much different. so it’s entirely possible that he probably died and somehow was chosen as the king of the underworld which he later named “halloween town”.

Interesting. I hadn't even thought of that, MatPat totally forgot to mention how he might have gotten back through the door to be released.
"Time. Time is an artificial construct. An arbitrary system based on the idea that events occur in a linear direction at all times.”
"Always forward, never back. Is the concept of time correct? Is time relevant? It matters not. One way or another, I fear that our time has run out."
Quotes from Old Uncle Sheogorath. when dealing with the eldritch sometimes things can get weird.
The girl in the woods story is rebooted no longer having the brute come out of the door instead it's a different monster
Which made more sense cause why would Roger be in the door when he transformed in the real world.
@@Crypttv thanks for replying! I finished up the series not long after writing this comment, and I’m really looking forward to season 2!
Isn't "colour" the British version and "color" the American version??
