- In this week's video, we share the story of the last 9 months and how, with your help and support, we were able to make our dream of buying a bluewater sailboat a reality. Buying a boat isn't easy. There's so much to figure out when it comes to what type of boat you want - sailboat or powerboat? New boat or old boat? Big or small? What's your budget? Where do you want to look for a boat? How many cabins? Is it bluewater rated? We're so happy that my brother David took lead on this part of the process because he knows the most about boats out of the three of us.
We can't explain how grateful we are that you guys showed up for our eBook Live Creatively because with that money we were able to buy Penelope - a 50 year old Hallberg Rassy Rasmus 35. She has a center cockpit, two cabins, a spacious galley/saloon, and more charm than we could have ever imagined. This sailboat was designed for the open ocean in Sweden and many other owners of this exact model boat have actually circumnavigated, so we're hoping that we made the right decision. If you know anything about boats, sailing, or have any words of wisdom for us please don't hesitate to leave a comment!
Lou and I have been dreaming of sailing around the world for over 6 years now and are so humbled that we are finally at the precipice of this grand adventure. We can't wait to share this next chapter of our life with you and are excited to show you a proper boat tour next week so you can really see how our new tiny house is laid out. We still have a lot to get her ready for our voyage like installing solar panels and modifying a few sections, but we really feel like we found a keeper!

I can't believe this! I grew up living on a 50ft Hallberg Rassy, since moving back on land for High School I've been watching you videos. I was so emotional when I saw this video, I'm so happy for you guys! Living on a sailboat is the best thing that ever happened to me, you guys are going to have a blast!
I agree, I grew up on a CT 41 then a 38 Brown Tri in the pacific. So thankful for my childhood. My parents moved me to land for high school as well. Oh the wanderlust....

I've been following you for a few years now and you are honestly one of my biggest inspirations. I've always been a creative person but have struggled with making a living out of it, and when I found your videos I realised I was over complicating it and that I could find happiness in the simple things and by living a more simple life. I've been saving up for a van for a year now and its nearly within my reach, I hope to do up my van myself and travel just as you have. I couldn't afford to buy your eBook back when it was first released but I can now, and so I have just bought it and cant wait to read it. Keep doing what you're doing, as you are an inspiration to many. Much Love x

2 days are the happiest in a boat owner's life. The day they bought a boat and the day they sold it. The days in between are filled with work, anxiety (does the material hold? do I get another mooring? does the anchor hold here? etc) and waiting for good weather. The days on which the boat gives unlimited pleasure are rather thinly sown.
I hope with you it is different and your happy days on board are their many. You are optimistic and life-affirming enough.

I stumbled onto your videos a few months ago; watching the van life. Your outlook on life is all inspiring. I was enjoying the adventure through your eyes. My wife and I are working on purchasing a boat next year. When I saw this video it was a must watch. The approach to your search and buying was great to see play out. I didn’t expect to want to sit and watch the whole video without distraction (rare these days) but this video kept pulling me in. It was such a well told story with amazing audio and visuals. I also really appreciated the transparency of exact numbers from the book purchases that led to the boat purchase. It makes seeing crazy dreams like that so much more real and attainable!

Also, a quick random question: I've been noticing that you have your screens quite elevated, you also used to during the Odie days. Is there a certain reason for that?
