How you can respond when your child speaks loudly in public

  • Here’s how you can respond when your child’s safety is compromised…
    1️⃣ Don’t hesitate to physically hold or stop your child.
    They might protest when you do so, but remember that your role is to keep them SAFE.
    2️⃣ Set your boundaries clearly and firmly.
    “I won’t let you run on the busy road.”
    “I won’t let you hit your sibling.”
    ”I am taking the scissors away. My job is to keep you safe.”
    PS. For younger kids, tell them what they can do, instead of what they cannot do.
    E.g. “Please walk” is more effective than “No running”
    “Use your gentle hands” works better than “Stop hitting”

    i wish i could instill fear in my children! then at least they would turn the volume down! 😅
    i just tell them, “volume to 3 please” - they know what that means cos that’s what I (and they) tell google.
