    Compared to handhelds I had when I was a kid it's practically a miracle, especially at that price.

    13:00 - It's a Macross game, based from the animé series of the 80.

  • @maesejesus
    @maesejesus 8 років тому +3

    The game around 8:45 seems to be a romhack of an Atlus game based on *Wacky Races*, where you play as Dick Dastardly's dog. It's a pretty decent platformer!
    It seems quite obscure, as I haven't found many people on the internet that knew about it.
    The screen on this cheap thing looks better than I expected!

    13:21 is actually an issue with the ROM, it's set to vertical mirroring instead of the correct horizontal mirroring.

    HAHA - Right as you ask the question, "So is this machine worth getting," you bring up the games list again and right there!! BAM - GUN NAC! Friggin' love it! Can't wait to own my own fami-pocket, though i'll be able to with the Tlex Ulike. I know I can do all this crap on my phone, but I hate playing LUNAR2 MCD/SCD with those invisible buttons on the screen!! BRO - I'm digging your channel!! I've seen your comparison vids for a while, and didn't make the connection. I like CGR, Pat the Nes Punk, AVGN, Turboviews tons, but you totally deserve a spot on that list. Not brown nosing bro. Digging the honesty, and you constantly use footage from games i'm obsessed with. Shooters mostly, GunNac, GigaWing, StarBlade, Thunderforce 4 - F*ck yeah dude!! Check out Mushihime Sama for Mame and Shoomachi on android. PS - That Aether game was a Macross hack.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  6 років тому

      Thanks for the comment Charles! I'm glad you're liking the content of the channel. Also thanks for the heads up on the Aether game being a Macross hack.
      I have Mushihime Sama on the 360, fantastic game. Really do enjoy playing that. maybe some day I should do a video on shooters I enjoy.

      HAHA - Actually it was another one of your fami-pocket knock off vids, where you played Famicom Macross that clued me in. I'm a huge fan of the movie "Macross : Do you remember love," and that game used the song "Shao Pai Long." Aether was just the same #$%^ only no Minmay hitting the gong. Again, not trying to hype my vids, i'm just seeing some cool similarities in our games. Here's another one I did with a bunch of captured shooter footage. Me and my X-girlfriend did the KMFDM remix, and the lyrics seemed apt for the footage. I still haven't done my huge "shooter" documentary party...but this was a fun teaser vid.

    For $5 dollars its not a financial lose for sure. It does have its charm on giving you good gameplay, but its not all top quality (IMO). But it does keep you busy if you try to make the best of it no doubt.

      Was that 15 euros with shipping included? When I bought it back in November the shipping was additional but now the say the console is 12 US dollars (or there abouts as I'm working in yen) with "free" shipping. Mine took about 4 weeks to arrive so you should get yours soon.

    • @querpmuerp
      @querpmuerp 7 років тому

      It arrived! So it came with a battery pack like they built in mobile phones back then (the USB port is for charging the battery). The music in the menu is a bit scratchy and not as nice as in other cheap china handhelds like the Coolbaby RS-18. And for me it's not as nice to hold because the buttons and the d-pad are placed near the borders. But I think my girlfriend will like it (she has small hands ;) I would be happy to see more reviews of chinese clone systems from you in the future! Have a great week!

    Interesing, I have a Coolbaby Branded Famiclone called the Coolbaby RS-35 which looks like a normal Famicom and it also has a working cartridge slot too, works with my super mario bros. 3 famicom cartridge.

    • @OnlyEpicEmber
      @OnlyEpicEmber 8 років тому

      CrAzYgIrL Actually mine came with a 132 in 1 multicart and I also have a 8 in 1 bootleg cartridge for it and they both work fine as well as the genuine Super Mario Bros 3 cartridge. Its a famiclone from 2015 so its relatively recent. I havn't had any sort of problems with game compatability on it.

      @zubiac 8 років тому +1

      Retro Core I don't know. I read the NES classic is actually extremly overpowered for what it is suppose to be doing. actually beefier than the Wii even. that would also explain why people manage to get N64(!) games running on that thing (via retroarch)

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  8 років тому +1

      More powerful than a Wii? That's crazy. Why on earth put all that power in to something that's only going to run NES games. Still, cool people hacked it to run N64 stuff.

    • @zubiac
      @zubiac 8 років тому +3

    well, I've mentioned in your channel before that I lived in China for years, there's some interesting about the company "Xiaobawang" (小霸王) which is the producer of this product.
    mmm, basically Xiaobawang's products were the most popular things back in 80's and even 90's of China, nearly everyone had one Famiclone at least or, the educational machine like it was advertised. it was so popular that Nintendo had no idea and no control about them, so their Famiclones were dominated in China for more than 15 years believe it or not. as for Sega fanboys like me, sorry you have to buy consoles from Taiwan or Hong Kong, "lucky enough", from Japan like I did. I'm surprised that they're still alive cuz I didn't see their products for years... one of the "best" product is the home console with a keyboard and a light gun, can't remember the real name, also come with a 5000-in-1 multicart which maybe include 100 games. I've ever played it when I was 8 or 9 in my cousin's home, I liked to practice typing using its built-in software xD. and my uncle love Iron Tank, my cousin love Super Spy Hunter then.
    then, another interesting thing is, all the Famiclone plug'n'plays or handhelds or even MAME built-in arcade machine like to use music tracks from games like "Mighty Final Fight" (surely it is in this machine), "Dragon Fighter", and other not-so-popular games...
    the built-in "homebrew" in this handheld is not a simulation game but a crappy RPG stylish strategy game btw. and the last game you showed to us called "Aether Kavass" is "Macross" on Famicom exclusively in fact.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  8 років тому +1

      Some great information, thanks for sharing. So Xiaobawang have been around for quite some time. That explains why their products are reasonable compared to other companies.
      I wonder if they make any Sega products? I really do like the screen quality they use in their Famicom hand held.

    • @ararattempest-lingua
      @ararattempest-lingua 8 років тому

      well as far as I know there's NO SUCH A THING... Sega is nearly nothing in mainland of China, what you got back in the days or 90's is whether a Famiclone like that or, guess what...PS1. only some southern main cities like Shanghai, Nanking, or Guangzhou had ported some Taiwanese Mega Drive clones, and it was a failure... cuz people think there are no multicarts for the Mega Drive and now we know it's nonsense!
      so basically I could make a short list about what home consoles are popular through the mainland of China from 80's to 00's.
      1980-1985 is the dark era that nothing but board games lol, no Atari, no ColecoVision, no Intellivision, and of course, no home computers like PC-98, ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64... poor time
      1986-2006 (or even today!) Famiclones, many many MANY Famiclones fled into the market and Nintendo was still in charge of South Korea for their version of NES, we all know Samsung took the duty.
      1992(or so)-2000 3DO time. it's amazing to see a huge fanbase of 3DO in mainland. I have no idea why but gamers seem to be blown their minds about the new technology.
      1997-2004 PS1 time. yep, PS1 got cracked quickly and tons of pirate games was into the market. I got a stack of games for about 50 titles (mostly shmups) whick only cost me about 100 yuan (160 yuan around nowadays)! and it's 22 euro now! what a deal!
      1998-2000 Sega Saturn maybe the only time people love to get a Sega console... I don't know why, they just got a bunch of racing games and shooters to the pirate store...of course, they're very cheap.
      in conclusion, no Mark III, no Dreamcast, no Super Famicom, no 32X, no Mega CD, no PCE, no Atari Jaguar, no N64 (but iQue Player)...what a pissed-off time... you have to get them from Taiwan or Hong Kong, again...

    • @ararattempest-lingua
      @ararattempest-lingua 8 років тому +1

      I even didn't see some people who got an XBOX or PS2...hilarious...
      for the handheld, only Gameboy, GBC and GBA...no Game Gear, you even can't get it from Taiwan... of course, no Nomad and PCE GT too...then straightly to the PSP......
      [how I hoped getting an Atari 7800, ah.....*sigh* a simple dream of a little "gamer"]
      btw, when I got a Neo Geo Pocket Color about 15 years ago, my friends said "oh a Nintendo handheld clone made by SNK", idiots.

    In Joust, you just need to fly into your enemies and hit their top half. If you hit them below the center line, they'll kill ya. Pretty fun, simple game that is good to kill a few minutes while waiting for the bus/train/whatever. Too bad the buttons on this are so cheap looking and probably feel just as bad, the emulation is not bad at all for a bargain bin famiclone handheld

      That's because you bought it from Amazon. You need to buy it from a Chinese distributor as the link in the video description shows. All of these systems cost more via Amazon because the sellers know people in Western countries will pay more than those in mainland China and surrounding countries.

      Retro Core yeah im surprise they sell this for 5-12 $ its like make me realize once again chinese technology really scary, they can make better product with quater price but sometime the wiring so mess up so its probably only can hold on maybe half year(or worse), but who care after all its still good and fun to give it for children and not cost your life to buy it unlike nowday console

      I think if you want some disposable items then the cheap Chinese products are pretty good but I'm glad not all of our electronics are build to such low standards.

    As good as this crappy thing is, I'd rather spend $5 or a bit more on a SNES Knockoff. Well, that's just my opinion.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  8 років тому

      Sadly the SNES knock offs are always poor when it comes to emulation :(

    i cant STAND reversed buttons. Who made this? the same idiots that aborted megaman anniversary collection?
    also that's definitely not a video out, but a mini-usb power port.

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  7 років тому

      The strange thing about this clone is that the top buttons seem to be reversed compared to the bottom buttons. At least there's one set that are the right way round :p

    What a heep of junk but hey if it can emulate games half decent why the fuck not for 5 bucks lol. You should do teardowns of these systems !!!!! Who else agrees

    • @RetroCore
      @RetroCore  6 років тому

      Teardowns of such systems only ever reveils one thing, a black epoxy blob on a sparse PCB. Sadly nothing exciting to see.
