same problem for me with the wobble and not a big deal but it drove me nuts.so through research i had a milspec buffer tube with a commercial str stock so i swapped my stock for a milspec one and fixed the wobble completely no wiggle at all
I've been running this buttstock for a couple years. It just does everything well. If you're one of those guys trying to shave every ounce off this isn't for you. If you want a simple, comfortable cheek weld, place for some batteries, no nonsense, solidly built buttstock....you should give it a try.
As for moving around, I wonder if it has to do with quality control on the tolerances. Mine is solid as a rock. In fact, it does not even wiggle prior to locking it down. Overall I am very happy with this butt stock.
Every stock I've ever used has a slight amount of wobble. The locking mechanism is used to prevent the stock from being adjusted out of position by snagging or some such mishap
This stock comes on rifle I just ordered. Hope mine doesn't wobble. That drove me crazy on my ar15 so I went with the hogue overmolded. It doesn't move or rattle. Really want to like this stock on the new ar10. Hope I can fix the wobble.
Does no one read all the product information in the box when they buy parts? Magpul tells you how and why your stock will move and because you bought the wrong one for your “commercial” set up. They make the same exact stock in two different versions … anyways still one of my favorites along with the BCM
What is the height of this stock? I've looked on many sites and they don't give all of the dimensions. Thanks to someone that could measure theirs and post!
Totally understand an off stock coming off the line which could explain your wiggle. I have a spec but not high end buffer tube, and the STR does not move, at all. I bet if you sent it to Magpul, they'd replace it for you, for free.
Im am completely torn between this and the ACS. I have no experience with the B5 stocks, but I am working on my first build, and gotta get a stock, just cant decide where to turn.
i know its an old video but i noticed the QD mount was missing from the left side of the stock. does it come this way? every other video ive watched has it on both sides.
MuttonChops24 My quick disconnect is missing on the right hand side to although there is a nut on the opposite side if you want to switch it to the other side doesn’t look like it would be that big of an ordeal but yes it would be a lot handier if there was a quick disconnect on both sides.
Get yourself a roll of the skinny (narrow) gorilla tape (duct tape in my favorite color black) and start at the threads of buffer tube. Run 1 single strip along the buffer tube horizontally, if looking at end of buffer tube like a clock run 1 strip from 9-3 or 3-9 lol. It will quiet the slide and slow it down but will negate that tiny, itty bitty wiggle you have on an ADJUSTABLE stock. This is not a solid stock. So if it feels anything less than solid…they’ve marketed it well. Anything adjustable has tendency towards failure.
I'm no expert on these stocks, I'm watching to learn actually, but are you matched up as far as mil spec vs commercial goes? Wondering if that's the source of your wiggling.
I like the B5 sopmod or the new BCM way more than any of the magpul offerings they fit tighter with less wobble without the silly friction lock thing and to me feel like they are built better not as cheap feeling.
Thanks for this video. I feel like a dumbass because I came here to figure out how to remove the stock because something was rattling around but it was just a plastic souvenir inside the storage compartments I didn’t know existed lol.

Also, I store an extra 2L76 battery for my Aimpoint in each of the removeable plugs, plus the extra CR123As in each storage side of the buttstock.

How do I remove the 123 battery holders? I hate them they mess with my cheek weld and force me to cant my jaw/face a bit

Mine has a little bit of wiggle also. Not a huge deal, but my 9mm AR variant is just for having a little fun. I don't notice it when I'm shooting.

Which buffer tube are you using? I am using Str also but can't decide on a tube. Going stt2 buffer..

I like Magpul better than BCM and B5 I like there stocks sights and there VFG is best on the market!🤯🔫👍🏽

A giggling buttstock is a good way to give away your position.
