    BCM is my benchmark. It’s right where $, quality and performance all fall into line. For each $1 spent above the price of a BCM you might get $0.25 increase in quality and/or performance. IMHO

      I bought a triarc as a post deployment gift to myself right before the events of 2020. It was pricey ($2200) Great gun though. Bought a BCM more recently as my second AR. Gotta say, I like the BCM better and it was maybe $1100 after I took advantage of a sale. The law of diminishing returns is very real in the world of ARs

      They are excellent, but their barrels are a step down from DD. Only reason I bought a DD agter I had a bcm was for their barrel, got the ddm4v7 lw and it's noticeably more accurate than the BCM barrel in my recce 16 kmr-a

    • @scott2228
      @scott2228 5 місяців тому +2

      100% agree. Best I could get out of my BCM was 1.30” MOA off a very solid bench setup. And a PA GLX LPVO optic. It’s a thin barrel and hates suppressor heat also. Therefore, to make the rifle perfect (to me) the barrel will get swapped to something heavier.

    • @GhiIIie
      @GhiIIie 5 місяців тому +4

      @@xxdizannyxxI appreciate you purchasing the best equipment you can, there’s just nothing to actually back up the claim that DD barrels are better. No statistics, no objective metrics to go off of. Just anecdotally fallacious testimonials. At the end of the day, both companies are battle proven and their barrels will last at least 15k-20k rounds before you start to see diminished accuracy

    • @GhiIIie
      @GhiIIie 5 місяців тому +2

      @@scott2228I’m guessing you have the enhanced light weight barrel. BCM doesn’t recommend running a suppressor through those. The MK2 with the standard BFH barrel runs like a dream suppressed, but that’s what it’s designed for

    The last post John Noveske made was about how every mass shooter has been on some form of prescription antidepressant. Noveske quality used to be damn near S+ and after he passed it has seemed to slip down pretty hard. The infidel was the first 13.7 rifle I saw over a decade ago, before every other company went there. I wouldn’t pay $400 plus ever again since Johns passing. My geissele’s and bcm rifles are still my favorites. I’ve had every worth while brand on this list minus the lower end ones and KAC. First was old school bushmaster over 20 years ago but back then it was pretty much just colt and bushy. I’ve never experienced the DI LWRC but there IC SPR in 14.7”. Fairly often what you’ll see with people trying to “save money by building themselves” is that, with all the extra money people spend on upgrading their mid tier rifles, they could have just saved that money up, gotten something significantly better straight from the factory, and have a lil money left over

    • @TheColosiss
      @TheColosiss 5 місяців тому +2

      I would very strongly disagree if the builder is competent. Instead of "upgrading", simply build from good parts from the start and the potential for a better kit is there. The determining factor is the builder. If the builder can competently source good parts, and can follow basic build procedures; then the possibility for building a good kit AND saving money is very possible.
      The truth is that most that build their own rifles make mistakes, or don't put in the effort to find good parts for sale. On top of that, many are unwilling or unable to improve. I wouldn't let those people be the standard of comparison though. It hardly represents the capabilities of those in the gunsmithing trade.

BCG on the market for a long time. They still make their piston bcg's like that. .......LWRC has a really nice BCG as well tho, I stuck a POF-USA roller cam pin in mine and it really does smooth out the action alittle bit. But the coating lwrc uses is really good, but it is still inferior to the NP3+ Robar coating. Other then that the two are very similar BCGs.....

      I also called my local gun shops and spoke to staff about aspects of our recent AWB. There is much confusion due to vagueness of the law, in terms of our ability to buy PARTS for rifles like the AR15.
      Basically everyone is using their own discretion in terms of interpreting the law. Some are willing to take the risk of selling parts within the state. Some refuse to chance it, other may provide limited items such as Barrels and Bolt Carrier Groups. Basically anything that is essential to the construction of an AR15 or its derivatives is off the table. Some places will still sell muzzle devices, collapsible stocks, buffer tubes, safeties, pistol grips, charging handles and so on.
      In other words, many are assuming the "Right to repair", while others simply refuse to take the risk.
      Speak to your local dealers, then call Primary Arms to see what they can do.

    Im not understanding your explanation on the LWRC, you said Geissele is S tier and LWRC is not, but Geissele rifles are over-gassed more then the LWRC. I own both, once my super duty barrel gets hot that group opens up, My LWRC gets hot the group stays alot tighter, and the reason being is the heavy barrel. If a smaller contour barrel gets hot, the group opens up, if a heavy barrel gets hot thats built of quality, the heavy barrel hold groups better. Does my Geissele run like a well oiled machine absolutely, but i hold a 3oc pattern with my LWRC with zero malfunctions, my super duty is 2oc with 3 or 4 stoppages, PMC runs fine in my LWRC, run it through my Super Duty and every now and then she gets a bit unhappy with the PMC. Regarding whether "value" should be included, I think it obviously is important, "quantity has a quality all its own", but value is not a performance metric for most people. For the military, it sort of is a performance metric in that it affects logistics performance and the amount of time and money and delays that go into determining our current fighting capacity, but for most average people, it's not quite as much about their ability to maintain that capacity because most people don't shoot enough for that to make a huge difference anyway. While it is definitely relevant to the conversation, because having two barrels that can give you a total of 30,000 rounds is definitely better than one barrel that can only get you 20,000, but value should be a secondary factor when it comes to putting tier lists like these together. Having two inaccurate rifles is not better than one accurate rifle (unless you have a buddy who is also gonna be helping you mag dump at a target 700yds away and pray that you hit them lol), but at the individual level, performance is what we should be evaluating first, while informing people of price, so they can determine on their own if a certain level of quality is even worth buying. People will know if something is worth it to them financially or not. People will be able to decide if they want to spend the extra money to get something better. But what people have a hard time figuring out, because the info on AR makers is mostly just hearsay and people simping for something they know nothing about because they want to feel good about themselves for having an opinion even when they know nothing about the actual state of the market or the manufacturers in general

Every one of their firearms has something along those lines if not a blatant block it's a retainer of sorts. Maybe theyre just stuck in their ways idk, but IMO I don't think the block is a bad idea, it's kind of nice to know for sure your firearm can't fire if dropped when hot and even Sig must have accepted that view because the MCX has their own firing pin block/retainer.

    I jumped in half way, but did hear about the great deal on the Geissele Automatics Super Duty rifle for $1,200. Where can I find a deal like that?

      It was on Geissele's website I believe. It's a temporary sale, they do 3-4 a year I think.

    Everyone sleeps on Centurion.
    I have built a V7 with Centurion barrel, Zev with Criterion Core barrel, BCM with BCM barrel and Geissele with BCM barrel, and I laugh at my Geissele. I'm glad I built in on Black Friday sale. Geissele is good for triggers, but V7 and Centurion are head and shoulders above in fit and finish, but more importantly where it counts. Barrels and BCGs. Hell, I even prefer the Centurion AST over the SSAE trigger, especially for the money.
    WTS OD Green Geissele w/ 10.5" Super Modular Rail, SSAE trigger, and 11.5" BCM CHF barrel to finance a Centurion 11.5" Midweight CM4.

    2k is not too expensive IF you're buying a quality product. 5.56 is a very capable round and if you can't afford it or if you can it's irrelevant. I love my Super Duty so much, I went ahead and bought 2 more and set them up with another $1500 in accessories. Again if you have the money and the job to back up your spending go for whatever you want and train with it. You're better than the tool you're using and fancy tools don't make you better or more efficient. If you don't know how to use them in a effective way well you’re just wasting your money.

    Aero is the only bcg I’ve ever had fail without something catastrophic to cause a failure. I had two bolt carriers that kept failing to lock back on a Daniel defense barrel with a non adjustable gas block. These barrels are overgassed and yet these bolts were not cycling. I ended up selling them and deciding never to buy aero again. No issues with their uppers or lowers but I’ll never buy a functional component from them again.
    Even KAK I’ve never had issues with… but aero failed out of the box.

    I agree with the Aero rating when it comes to everything but their stripped upper/lower receivers. For home builds, their uppers and lowers are legit. Would definitely get everything else...elsewhere.

      The Atlas R-One is my favorite rail. It's definitely not going to be the strongest rail, but I don't run IR, lasers or anything that needs crazy strong rails anyway. It's the best looking and pretty much the lightest weight until you start getting into carbon fiber stuff. But yeah, I would still avoid Aero barrels, BCGs and LPKs.

    I don't get why there's so little statistical work and collaboration between firearm enthusiasts. Like there's literally millions of us and yet we seem to have horrible data on which guns are actually being made the best and working the best in any given quarter of the year... I mean we don't even really have enough consistent data actually collated into larger, rolling data sets that can analyzed using any high-level statistical tools anyway.
    Like, the only guy I can think of that actually bothers to do realllll hard work into measuring and reporting this stuff in a coherent way for the community is someone like School of the American Rifle, he's amazing for what he does.
    I wish that the firearms community was even remotely as dedicated to data collection and analysis as some of the other communities/hobbies involving high-tech equipment that I am a part of. I have no idea how something as huge as the firearms industry and enthusiast community can possibly be so bad at collecting real world data. We should all be able to know with nearly 100% certainty, during any random quarter of the calendar year, which barrels from which companies were shooting most accurately, which parts are standing up to abuse the most, which companies have the best precision, etc.
    But for some reason, you have to essentially resign yourself to just not fcking knowing what's even good or not because nobody knows how to properly test or measure anything or even know how to properly write down data or know how to upload it or know how to collaborate together online to create meaningful databases. Sometimes I get lucky and I'll find something like that sweet spreadsheet where that guy measures the specs of barrels, like average gas port sizes from manufacturers, gas block journal dimension variations, barrel weights, etc.
    but otherwise, it feels like most people, even 'UA-cam experts' are just flying blind and have no idea what's going on or what they are even talking about or recommending.
    >Inb4 "well then why don't you do it then huh man?", well because I just got 'into the community' like a few months ago and I didn't give a sh*t before then, I just shot my Glocks and shot my Daniel Defense and didn't really care about this stuff, but yeh it looks like I'm gonna have to be the one who starts doing this stuff and try to find a way to collect more data. These problems should already have been solved for us by people smarter than us, but instead, because, no offense, it seems like there are not nearly as many truly, high-tier, autistic-wizard levels of intelligent people who are SUPER INTO guns as their hobby instead of their profession. It's not a jab at anyone here in this comments, it's just true that hyper intelligent people tend to be more into other things, and if they are into guns, they are doing some pretty crazy sh*t with guns and spending less time doing consumer analysis and market QC data
    And the super genius people who are actually into guns are usually the ones who are designing them or engineering them

    A lot of these companies don’t manufacture anything lol, they just buy from an oem and slap a label on it. Some will do in house QC, or pay for a high level of QC from the oem though.

    Agree on HK’s placement but I strongly oppose the reasonings that aren’t price. I haven’t heard of a single gun that isn’t a DGI AR that people don’t bitch about being “overgassed.”
    It’s not that every gun except ARs are overgassed, it’s that ARs are extremely low gassed.
    It’s not that heavy of a gun either. I averaged out the weight of any intermediate caliber rifle I could come up with and the 416 is right in the middle. The idea that it’s this impossibly heavy system just doesn’t hold up unless you’re exclusively comparing it to like, an M4 which is probably the lightest service rifle ever devised.
    When I was in the marines not a single person took issue with the M27’s “increased recoil” because it’s not even really noticeable, certainly not enough to render it ineffective.
    These talking points to me just kind of feel like people parroting shit and not based on legitimate experience with it.
    That being said HK absolutely shouldn’t be A tier when the barrel of the MR556 is a heavy profile, non chrome lined POS and they still haven’t started using the A5 gas blocks, all while charging 3-4 grand for what is essentially a casual bench shooting rifle.

      Bought a "freedom" milspec lower and got a free upper. And bought a 20" fluted stainless barrel with a nickel boron chamber, on clearance for 165. $100 for a nickel boron PSA bolt. JP adj block. A5 buffer and a MBT2 Larue trigger. Stngnr Vulcan handguard. 1.5" with surplus 55gr.
      Tight receiver fit, jacking screw removes all play. Tight barrel fit, had to heat the receiver a little for some expansion. All around good value. Entire build minus scope and bipod $1100.
