Vince Gill, Joe Walsh, Rafael Tranquilino, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mick Mars, Charlie Crowe, Lita Ford, Nick Vigarino,. Junior is talented but he has an ego bigger than the Devil.
Amen brother. Junior Brown does not get the recognition he deserves. Funny and an amazing musician. Besides good country (not the swill you hear from the generic truck commercial sound today) he plays some mean surfing riffs.
He is just not a faker. And people want copycat country today. Himble and highly skilled. I am a huge fan. But its not progreesive nough for most country now. Shame
Nothing about Jr is normal. I think this is why I always liked the dude and his music. I mean, look at his custom guitar, the way he bends his hat brim, his amp is facing the ceiling. How can you not admire someone who does everything his own way ?
I first read about Junior, in the Tower Records store magazine in 1991, and bought "Shades" as a French import that year! I saw and met Junior during his 2017 tour- front row! Semi-crazy for Junior Brown!
I call it "Beer Joint Music". Jr Brown is a legend. Couldn't find him anywhere. Kept my eyes & ears open but got nothin. Never got to hear him live but would have drove 500 miles to see this legend of Country Music.
What an icon in the world of music. . From that smooth, rich, deep and penetrating baritone voice. To his prolific picking and riffs making that Gitsteel walk and talk. It is pure musical magic to one's ears. He is the consummate musician and singer.
Many Moons ago, I had tickets for Jeff Beck at the Chicago theater the same evening Junior Brown was playing at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn. I went to see Junior Brown at Fitzgerald''s in Berwyn!!!
I'm from New Zealand, and yes, there are Country fans here. I'm not, in general, but I do think Junior Brown is one of the best guitarists the USA has ever produced. I never knew he played the Opry, awesome!
There are not too many truly original musicians out there and JB is for me, the best of the best of them. If you took the DNA of Jimi Hendrix and Ernest Tubb and mixed them, you would have JB. The man is a genius...
Reminds me of being 8 years old, roaming the trailer court on my big-wheel, and suddenly hearing "Hawaiian music", and suddenly we all "cut a big donut across the whole street and blow a big jump across the speed-bump", my ears led me to an old guy who lived across the street. Seen him before, saw his HUGE car (some old early 70's Cadillac, I think: Lost Navy aircraft kept trying to land on it, it was so big! And this on the eastern border of Kansas!) and suddenly he's sitting outside playing steel guitar, as if it's just a normal thing people do!. My friends and I froze. We sat there leaned up against his chain-link fence just watching and listening. It was something to hear! Wish to hell I could talk to the guy now! Still, hearing this spurs old memories into sticking around, and that alone is worth it. Bonus: Junior Brown is also good at his picking!
Man, there are some sterling blues licks in there. I love the way he starts singing right on time, on key, in the middle of a guitar lick. Junior is a throwback to when country music had personality and style.
An excellent line up! I saw him with Reverend Horton Heat as his backup band not too long ago…another great show. Does Junior Brown EVER have a bad show though? 😝
What a virtuoso musician Junior with that rich, deep baritone voice of his while making both that Telecaster and steel guitar walk and talk. I absolutely enjoy watching his lovely wife strumming hard on that acoustic guitar. Junior Brown is a national treasure.
I recommend everyone look up Junior Brown with the Beach Boys preforming "409" next!! That video definitely kicks ass, and hearing that the beach boys gave him a standing ovation afterwards was awesome. You can see them smiling during the video, like "holy shit!!" smiling 🙂
I got to fill in on upright bass for Junior Brown's bass player in Tulsa back in 2003. It was a great experience, and his wife is really cool and a great rhythm player. Actually, his "lovely wife-Tanya Mae Brown", really kept things in the pocket. The band in this video is great, especially the drummer...he killed it!
You're a lucky man! Junior Brown is a MEGA TALENT! And for all the younger people who aren't aware, his music is REAL COUNTRY! Not that Toby Keith, Garth Brooks "new country" watered down bullshit that started in the 90's and now needs to die a quick death!
That's too cool, were you that familiar with all his songs that you mostly nailed it? Any flubs you remember heh? I'm from San Antonio, and one night in the late 90's when he played at the legendary Floore Country Store in Helotes (just NW of San Antonio), the same drummer from this video (who'd I seen twice previously) with that hilariously minimal drum kit suddenly according to Junior's announcement fell ill that evening. It just so happened to turn out that the person who opened up for Junior that night, the motherfucking Texas legend Johnny Bush, just happened to have played drums in his early days enough that he never lost it, and knew Junior's catalog to pull it off so impressively that the house came down for both Junior and Johnny that night when the show was over, such an epic show to have witnessed.
A friend came to work one day talking about a guitar picker he saw last night playing a double neck guitar and I said, " Junior Brown." He was flabbergasted that I knew who it was. Love to see him pick.
Jr. Brown------------toooooo coooooooooolllllll,,,,,,not too many others can pick like he does,,,,and to me I love THAT VOICE!,,,,,,,,Roy Clark can pick as well------But I love to here Brown sing a song,,,,,,
Simply Awesome, I love the song he did with my late friend Hank Thompson called "Sell them chickens". Never seen anyone could play a guitar as good as this man here!!
I drove 10 hours one way to see Jr. play at a small town called Palisades Colorado which is near where my father grew up. I'd do it again. Some fools pay $2000 to see some pop star center stage front row. $55 and $800 for gas and a rental car, and I still have the better deal! To see young people cheer when a song from 1928 is played is a real kick too.
I'm sorry I'm a little late to the party but Son can you play. I love this video. Love it big time. If only country music stations today would play this kind of music. At least we have youtube. Thank you UA-cam for letting us all see this and remember what country music use it sound like.
This is one of the best blues songs EVER … junior brown is just amazing. Showmanship out the wazooo …. And the chops on the guitsteel ….. son……… all I can saw is wow… and what an easy gig for a drummer. lol
that drummer cat was one of the coolest folks i've ever met... I chatted with him in the lobby of a casino they were playing years ago... I think I was the only 20 something there and probably the only person not wearing a cowboy hat or driving a semi home... great crowd...
Guy reminds me SO much of joe maphis, my father turned me on to country music when I reached the age of 11 or 12, I could not turn away from it, I just love it, so so good!
i just want to say I dig junior brown ... he's definitely has skills on them guitars ... but his choice in women is the mark of a real ladies man.. you got the aces buddy.. thanks for posting ..
I hate country music but this guy makes it good music. Too many country artists neglect good guitar like it's a relic of the past. I would love to hear more country that plays like his song catfish and collard greens
I didn't care for county music much until I heard jr Brown😊
who in the hell on planet earth can play better than this?..................No One..............
Better than Junior Brown? Well, there was Roy Clarke but I heard that he is dead. Wonderful! Karl
1st I've heard of this guy, magic fingers for sure. His manager needs to give his head a shake for not promoting this guy more. @@karlfisher1864
Vince Gill, Joe Walsh, Rafael Tranquilino, Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, Mick Mars, Charlie Crowe, Lita Ford, Nick Vigarino,. Junior is talented but he has an ego bigger than the Devil.
@@matthewbingham8824 What does his ego have to do with it?
Jerry Reed?
I'm so glad we have UA-cam so we can see just how great country music used to be.
Can someone explain to me why this guy wasn’t a huge star , this to me is country music
Is huge star to those who get it
Amen brother. Junior Brown does not get the recognition he deserves. Funny and an amazing musician. Besides good country (not the swill you hear from the generic truck commercial sound today) he plays some mean surfing riffs.

Crappy agent?
Well. He did get a lot of Grammy nods in the past.
Junior is definitely and icon in the country music industry! one the greatest
Bucket list to see Junior……gotta see this guy ….this is great MUSIC
You won’t regret it. He’s great live.
Joe Diffie man, RIP brother. I know you're driving a pick up truck around heaven man.
Damn, I had no idea
Love. Some Junior🎸🎸🎸🎼🎵❤️❤️✌🏼✌🏼
Jr. Brown should be the CMA Entertainer of the Year.........EVERY YEAR!!
Nothing about Jr is normal. I think this is why I always liked the dude and his music. I mean, look at his custom guitar, the way he bends his hat brim, his amp is facing the ceiling. How can you not admire someone who does everything his own way ?
I introduced a friend of mine who only listened to rock to junior brown music and now he loves him.
Junior is a class act! So unique! Wish we had more great music like this nowadays!
Now thats a working man and band..cant touch that...great talent!!!
one of kind---great voice and musical talent
What an icon in the world of music. . From that smooth, rich, deep and penetrating baritone voice. To his prolific picking and riffs making that Gitsteel walk and talk. It is pure musical magic to one's ears. He is the consummate musician and singer.
well said...
Sounds like Ernest Tubb.
Junior is one of the rarest artists - completely unique -can't think of someone who is even somewhat similar
Many Moons ago, I had tickets for Jeff Beck at the Chicago theater the same evening Junior Brown was playing at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn. I went to see Junior Brown at Fitzgerald''s in Berwyn!!!
Back in 1995 I wandered into a free concert on the Santa Monica Pier of all places and it was Jr Brown! - I was hooked !
This is real country music. Today's country music is only CMINO, Country Music In Name Only.
Wow, great stuff. What a performance.
I'm from New Zealand, and yes, there are Country fans here. I'm not, in general, but I do think Junior Brown is one of the best guitarists the USA has ever produced. I never knew he played the Opry, awesome!
AND one of the best hat creases ever.
THERE HAS BEEN MURDER ON MUSIC ROLL, BUT JUNIOR BROWN AND OTHERS STILL MAKE IT HAPPEN TO MAKE REAL COUNTRY MUSIC.
Most people cant see what a woderful player, singer and upright folk. Top nothch country
There are not too many truly original musicians out there and JB is for me, the best of the best of them. If you took the DNA of Jimi Hendrix and Ernest Tubb and mixed them, you would have JB. The man is a genius...
That's the perfect description of JB! Gotta love such a raw talent and one of a kind!
i agree S one of a kind
You made this comment 10 years ago...and I hope you're still around to hear how on the spot it was...fantastic.
Glad you’re still with ùs Junnior, one of the greatest!
This fellow is an absolute magician with that instrument. I like the sound and his music as well.
Junior Brown is a national treasure!
Mix rock-a-billy, with traditional country, with Texas swing, with 50's rock n roll and you get the one and only Junior Brown !!!!!!!!
Unique cat
But his blues feel is sooo deep! Truly fun to see someone be themselves!
You forgot surf music
Junior Brown rocks!
Nailed it.

Junior is amazing

Applause in the first 30 sec at the Grand ole Opry, I'd say he won their respect.
Junior Brown is a national treasure. I loved the drummer slappin' the brushes!
Austin in late 80s 90s and 2000s Jr played in Austin . I must went to the continental 1000 times to watch the show with so many more...
I saw him a few years back with the Blasters, Reverend Horton Heat and Big Sandy. Very talented dude.
An excellent line up! I saw him with Reverend Horton Heat as his backup band not too long ago…another great show. Does Junior Brown EVER have a bad show though? 😝
That must have been an amazing show. The Blasters are one of my very favorite bands too!
Junior OWNS the Gitsteel
Knockout talent and class act
He don’t own this one anymore this is a big red and it was stolen so I’ll be on the lookout for big red

Man do I miss the old Nashville Network. This was the best stuff.
Underrated as hell. Junior Brown should be in the conversation of great country guitarist

Junior Brown ..a true American treasure..kids now a days have no clue..this is real country before it became corporate
His voice is amazing.😌
My right ear enjoyed this.

That is the best drummer that I have ever heard with Junior.
Extremely unique sound, one of a kind artist. His wife is an extremely talented rythum guitarists. Props to both of them.
On my way to see JR tonight! I get chills on that Highway Patrol solo!
Not a fan of country music, but I love Junior Brown.
Draggin' the line.
It’s got a certain swag. Unlike most of the country I hear.
A minimalist country band with maximum cool....Junior Brown. The drummer is great! His wife is right on and Junior really loves his craft.
I truly like Junior. He is is so talented. I love his git-box.
HE WOULD MAKE A ROCK AND ROLL GUETARES LOOK SILLY. GOD BLESS HIM HE IS GOOD.
There are guitar players and guitar wizards and gods, but then there is Junior Brown, its that simple
Thanks JB....
I'm sorry I'm a little late to the party but Son can you play. I love this video. Love it big time. If only country music stations today would play this kind of music. At least we have youtube. Thank you UA-cam for letting us all see this and remember what country music use it sound like.

Junior is a musical genius. Awesome talent.
awesome love JB and Tanya
This man and his band should play the Opry every weekend until people realize what REAL county is.
Live forever, Junior and Tanya Raye!
THIS GUY IS A PHENOM !!! WHAT A TALENT !
Nobody does it like the pride of cottonwood Arizona JB, the best of all time.
Guy reminds me SO much of joe maphis, my father turned me on to country music when I reached the age of 11 or 12, I could not turn away from it, I just love it, so so good!
Ive seen Jr. live and he is Really Great!!!!!
I always like how musicians introduce their band. Alot of people don't.
I'm amazed the opry recognised musical talent given what they've been throwing at us for years. Rock it out Junior.
I agree with that comment. Lyrics with no meaning and music that is pop has been their usual lately.
Ain't that the truth, they murdered country music.
Love this guy! Came into his music a couple years back, and DAYUM!
I love that you can see musician like this in a medium sized bar or the Opry on any given night.
innovation meets tradition
..pretty BAD ASS too!
This guy is The Bomb!
Good golly. This dude is UNBELIEVABLE!!
Junior Brown is totally killer, he's even ol'timey. and im just loving it. thank you for posting this.
Very cool guitar....
Love the extra effort for this gig. He is amazing. When I think of beach boys I think of 409, with those blokes doin backup for junior
Jr. is great and that Tanya Rae is a looker.
How Junior manages to switch between the two guitars without missing a beat is beyond me.
One of the best axe men in music.
They dont get any better,or more versatile, than this fellow.awesome.
Always a joy to see and hear!
How did I just find this guy? What an animal!
One of a kind…a GREAT musician!!
Tanya was looking great here! Yoww! Jr is a lucky guy and he plays real good too.
i just want to say I dig junior brown ... he's definitely has skills on them guitars ... but his choice in women is the mark of a real ladies man.. you got the aces buddy.. thanks for posting ..
this guy is blessed and he shares it...how awsome...go JR
