I'm glad you did a video on this performance.
Using the machine head to detune is SO cool musically AND technically.
Doing this, bending out past the nut, and using his finger to pry instead of a whammy bar makes him incredibly fun to watch. He's a true showman.
    Thanks for highlighting his talent!

Sadly, I'm not surprised at all. Austin is full of super talented musicians who are not paid. You might be surprised to learn that the Vaughn family has almost as much money as W and probably more than (lying) Trump, and if anybody is better than Stevie, or even his brother Jimmy (sure as hell not Jimi) he gets smothered.

I saw Junior play a free show at a casino, and he had a heavy quilt draped over the front of his amplifier, which was actually placed in front of him near the edge of the stage. I'm not sure if he was protecting the audience from excessive volume or preventing the sound from carrying a hundred and fifty yards out over the casino floor. Anyway, he would have been hearing the sound coming off the back side of the speaker cone!

They do duets with them singing the third and 5th notes of the chord between them so your brain provide the root note of the chord and it sounds like they are singing full chords, not intervals. See Junior in a bar or small venue- he takes no prisoners. Seriously amazing player live. My favorite moment was the encore where he is total rock n' roll mode, crowd is going nuts, you can't hear yourself think. He comes back on stage with the guit-steel over his head like a trophy and does a Mick Jagger impression in a British accent " People....behave". It was awesome.
On the original version of Sugarfoot Rag he goes in and out of Hendrix- "Wind Cries Mary" and a riff from Band of Gypsies. Really cool.

Hey Thanks for doing the Junior Brown video! I didn't expect to see it so quickly! I was curious IF you'd do one and if you did WHICH video you'd pick. This is a good one to show his style. I really enjoyed your commentary. Thanks again!! I can't get over the fact a guy that can play Hendrix or SRV can do perfect 50's and 60's country. Watching his face when he plays makes me think his guitar is really an extension of his body. I really appreciate you doing the video!

I still remember the first time I saw Junior Brown play. With the big hat, suit, and mutant guitar, I legitimately thought he might be an alien.

I love the way he gets back into pitch after turning the machine heads. It’s way harder than it looks. Junior is a real pro.

    Hi Fil
I meet him here in Florida about 14 years ago. What a fantastic man he is. Funny and a great artist. My favorite was "My wife thinks you dead". So if you get a chance check it out if you haven't.
    Have a great day..

I love how Junior "untunes" his top guitar at about 1:18 -- for some twang -- Junior Brown just absolutely MASTERED his chosen instrument, IMHO. Great review, as usual, Wings of Pegasus!

When I saw Junior quite some years ago, he was using a pair of Fender Twins cranked right up. Gives a super-bright, super-loud sound.

Longtime fan of Junior Brown. Sadly, I've only seen him once live, a free outdoor concert in Cleveland Ohio. Tanya Rae can sing too. I think Junior is one of the most underrated, and unrecognized guitarists in the world. First heard him years ago on NPR doing the instrumental, "Peelin' Taters", been hooked ever since.

Thanks for a great video. I love Junior Brown. If you haven't seen his performance of "409" with The Beach Boys, it's worth a look. He outdoes himself on the guit-steel. Thanks again.

There's a video here on YT where JB is playing a club with several famous players in the crowd and they ALL came up to take a shot at that Guit-Steel! Junior himself played drums while everyone played his Guit-Steel.

    Junior Brown's one slick picker.
Everybody's really glad to have him. His wife's pretty cool rhythm player also. He does a cool surf medley. Riffs Dick Dale.
