      It's what sold the whole film to me, I remember the music video on MTV and Clooney sold the whole song with that dance. He really was into his character and that's usually enough for me to want to see the film.

    Don't forget the man who did the singing voice for George Clooney - Dan Tyminski, vocalist and guitarist for Alison Krauss's Union Station bluegrass band. The producers picked a supremely talented musician in Dan Tyminski to do the voice over for this song.

      The funniest story I heard about this was Clooney wanted to sing it. He was in the studio singing and when he looked up, no one in the booth would make eye contact, but they kept giving him a thumbs up.
      He said right then he knew they'd need someone else to sing it.

For several years, my mother would don a fake beard and join in place of Delmar's character for a local Soggy Bottom Boys cover band, dance moves and interjected quotes from the movie and all. @sonniepronounceds-au-ni9287 2 роки тому

      @@jawo8754 All I'm hearing is the Scots also desecrated a cross. I understand that sacrifices were cooked over a fire and eaten in the old testament, and Christ is the lamb of God sacrificed for our sins. However, there's no early church tradition of burning the cross nor imagery of Christ. Associating a burning cross with warfare and troubled times doesn't sound like a symbol of repentance and cooked offerings to God. In communion, we partake of the sacrifice. There is no burning.

    • @Astralaeyna
      @Astralaeyna 2 роки тому

      @@sonniepronounceds-au-ni9287 there is no early imagery of the cross either, if you want to get technical. The cross is based on the Greek letters used to describe the crucifixion scene. The earliest historical reference to veneration of the "True Cross" occurs in the mid-4th Century.
      Scholars believe that if the crucifixion actually took place, it was not on a cross. Mainly because the practice of crucifixion stopped when Constantine I outlawed it. Which was about 300 years before Tiberius ruled.
      You're actually putting way more value on a cross, a symbol, than is inherently necessary.

    • @nathancollins1715
      @nathancollins1715 2 роки тому +1

      @@Astralaeyna Uhhhhh, dude. You really need to brush up on your history. Constantine was the first Christian emperor, and ruled about 300 years AFTER Tiberius, who was only the second Roman Emperor after Augustus. Him outlawing crucifixion was a direct result of him wanting to eliminate the practice that killed Christ.
      The Greek letters you're thinking of are "Xi Rho" the first two letters of Christ's name in Greek. This symbol may or may not have been the symbol Constantine claimed to have seen in his vision of the one true God. We have no real way of knowing if this led directly to the modern "t" shaped cross. But in all likelihood, the real cross was shaped more like a capital "T" with a signpost above with the offender's name and crime inscribed upon it.
      Before criticizing other people for their usage of a religious symbol, you should try getting your own facts straight.

      For my family it's discussion of who has a hateful grudge against the Soggy Bottom Boys.

      Yeah, don't watch Princess Bride, there are about a hundred in there.
      "I do not think that word means what you think it means"
      "Hello, my name is Inego Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die"
      "That's not very sporting"
      etc
      Of course you have to see the movie to appreciate it. If you haven't I VERY much recommend it. Our family is always referencing lines from that movie and my mother in law said she'd never seen it so we brought it over. She loved it. I said we could watch it again sometime and she said, "how 'bout now". :-)
      And yes, the line you referenced there is a beauty, especially if you can even remotely manage the impersonation. I haven't seen the movie in years, and I could still picture him delivering that line as if I'd seen it yesterday.

      @@sarahbethkeith375 I thought of another that we have included: "He's bonified," but we've made it personal, "I'm bonified."
