After a few comments mentioning the music not fitting the subject matter… thank you. I’m aware it doesn’t fit. I hadn’t been doing this type of video long but in more recent ones you will notice more fitting sound-beds in those videos! 😃 it’s all a learning curve!
Yikes, I figured some lab thing and the water treatment issue was going on, but this superb breakdown. Sadly, though, the only proof of Supernaturality is his afterlife, since all of this is by memory for Dwayne. He knes everything. Except...the demon he would have to imagine from the little guys problems. Not necessarily a real demon, just his head in purgatory. I kind of do hate some of the cop out from a real supernatural horror beyond a purgatory mind trip that is everything else by analogy.
Are you serious? The music is great!!! As much times as I find my taste contrasting that of the majority in almost all things, starting to think I'm living on another planet! Also could you tell me the name of the song in 10:08?
8:04 I don't think it was actually his wife that said she was only with him for his money. She was wearing the plague doctor mask and her voice was distorted when she said it, so it was likely Dwayne's fear and insecurity being projected. His wife probably actually loved him, but his depression warped his view of the relationship and his own self worth.
Pretty sure that when a guy thinks that it's probably correct. Most women do that... I mean less than ever before dont get me wrong but its still most women.
A dead giveaway that Dwayne is dead pretty much right at the beginning of the game is that he has no reflection in mirrors, even though the objects he holds have reflections.
@@nu_kercat1 It says you‘ll see his hand for the first and the last time *only* when he shoots his family. Sorry if I wrote the first comment misleadingly
Some things I want to also point out: - Chlorpromazine, the medication name on the pill bottle, notably has adverse effects when mixed with alcohol. - Dwayne's time listed on the staff sheet shows that he was basically involved with MKUltra since it was Project ARTICHOKE. - The room Rakan dies in is the same room Dwayne shoots himself and his family in. Claire mentions he died in the cellar, and even hacking around in the game, it's the same map with some tweaks. - The name of the prescriber on Dwayne's pill prescription is Andrew Smith, also on the staff sheet in the lab section along with Dwayne's name. Honestly, I think their intention's were for it to be the same Dr. Smith from the hospital. - The four wall section interestingly has a radio in the vent with trigger words. It's the same exact voice as the Lucy treehouse section. Late into Lucy's chapter you can hear a very distorted demonic voice. If you pay close attention, the words are the same as the voices heard on the radio. They're hard to make out, but I can share the game files and you can definitely single out a fair chunk of the words. I theorize a lot of her communication with her friend when it talked to her via the radio, was her picking up on these radio triggers. The game definitely puts a lot of emphasis on those radios. Even the radio by the main entrance turning on drives your sanity down! - The staff key card you grab in the hospital suspiciously looks like Dwayne, imo. So yes, I think he had a fake job there as well. - At 11:00 the figure bent over is Lewis Taylor without the tar! It takes some hacking to see it, but we have an image of it on the Visage discord, if you'd like to see it. - The comic has a CIA looking character, similar to the man that locks Rakan in the cellar. - One of the characters emphasizes to Rose that she should have a nice "glass of water" - from here on, every panel with Rose she's drinking water before she eventually goes crazy. Backs up the spiked water theory. I definitely think Dwayne was a big part of the project, and carries a lot of guilt. Great video. It's nice to see people drawing the same overall conclusions. The dev's mentioned there's a larger backstory but they hid it in pieces. But when you put those pieces together, it's definitely evident there's a lot of attention to detail to MKUltra!
While these are all really interesting observations, I feel like these details were way too easy to miss. Of course looking back/hyper-analyzing the game it becomes obvious, but actually playing the game these things are insanely easy to miss and makes the story feel pointless at times.
@@baphfomet It was probably designed with this sort of collaboration from the community around the game in mind. sorta like the OG Legend of Zelda or something. But yeah, personally just playing the game by myself I can agree with you. I wouldn't get most of this and just spend the entire game scared shitless.
Someone help? I am a bit confused ! I thought Lewis Taylor died before Rakan was in the picture. So why would Rakan have seen Lewis at all? And then shot at him?
@@user-uq2jo8hw6s The devs themselves said that it was based upon PT. It makes sense, as there's a lot of spots in the house with visual resemblance, like the table with the radio, some of the hallways, and the room Dwayne wakes up in. There's even a Silent Hill 4 easter egg.
Yes! That was so good! I had heard broken theories before but NO ONE addressed the water thing! It's so obvious that water is a constant theme in the game. We see Rose drinking from a cup before she killed her husband, then drinking his blood. We see random tables appears with a single cup of water on them. We see a water treatment plant, leaking pipes, etc. We see Delores constantly drinking her "special tea" which was clearly making her worse. The water was obviously spiked and causing delusions in all of these people. In Dwayne's chapter, one of his mirror pieces is even located in the broken water heater. I'm so happy you connected those dots and even expanded on it! This is exactly what I was hoping for! Excellent work and wonderful playthrough!
Thanks! Yeah it’s one thing that kept standing out to me and the water treatment plant was the thing that confirmed it for me. Shocking thing is that I had to play the whole game twice because I needed footage without my face in the corner 😂 great game with an awesome story.
Regarding Lucy - I believe one of the initial motivations of MK Ultra and similar programmes was to test whether brain-washing techniques could be used to compel to become violent and act as assassins. It's possible Lucy's initial behavioural problems (including killing her pet bird, which I'm pretty sure happened before she received any medication) is because the house itself was also the testing area for experiments with radio signals as an alternative method to just using drugs (which Rakan seemingly discovered). Lucy's chapter shows that her 'friend' communicated with her through the TV and radio, and as someone else mentioned during the Prison VHS Tape you can find a radio embedded in the basement walls speaking random words which might act as triggers.
Ah, that makes sense. What kind of sick assholes to drug her (with the water) and order her to kill her own beloved bird (through the radio) ! 😢 And drug her even more after that...
Yeah, after everything I've heard about this game and it's connections to MKUltra, I don't think the house is a normal house at all. I think the CIA built it specifically for experimentation on the people living there. Cameras and microphones hidden everywhere, radios hidden in walls and vents to makes people think they're hearing things, controlling the water supply that was likely laced with mind-altering drugs. The house isn't haunted, it was built for this specific purpose.
Creators of this game did such a good job of visualizing everyone’s afflictions in the form of their “demons” to show how the characters are truly driven to the point of no return. Also loved the ending when you complete the tapes and Dwayne puts on the mask before he finally gets to exit the home, showing the burden he had to bear in daily living and having to hide behind who he saw himself as! Your historical explanation gives it much more depth and context and I believe it’s legit. Enjoyed watching!
I mainly think the MKUltra thing is revolved around that house, especially when it comes to the whole lucy chapter because in the treehouse section you see a number of drawings that at first look like possession but when you look at this theory it makes it look like the agents communicated with her through the TV and radios which made her gain trust in this 'friend' and convinced her to kill peaco (repetition of 'get rid of it lucy' get rid of it' aka trying to test if the mind controlling works this then leads to the picture of lucy with the needle in her arm (potentially the LSD) and her trapped within the shadows grasp (their control) also being in the treehouse and she still cant get away from the friend (radio in the treehouse) plus all the eye symbols. When you finish the treehouse scene you then have to make your way to lucy's bedroom which you peak through the door in a parent like position in my opinion seeing what your kid is doing, then bam the 'friend' shuts the door aka telling us they dont want anyone interfering with whats going on (not letting us in) I also think that dwayne mostly drinked alcohol instead of water because he knew that he spiked it or what had happened to it Also with all the secret compartments and connections just makes the house seem like a perfect place for testing and spying Next up is the the deloras death scene, you are spying on her when this happens which could give symbolism that all the victims are being watched to see how it all turns out seeing that she brutally murdered her husband because she thought he was poisoning her/trying to kill her (irony) but spared the baby perhaps meaning that these victims do have a sense of normal ness With rakans death scene he was placed in a cellar and since the houses cellar which you first begin in is hidden down in the basement it only makes sense that he was trapped in the house hidden away to not be seen, i say this purely based off the fact that the mirror you look into when he gets locked in can be seen when you flash the camera into the room plus the prison vhs tape is found next to the opening of it, this all makes me think about how the agents didnt want him to live as he could spread word hence why he was trapped, but also because in lucys chapter the bird is killed. Why? Correct me if theres something obvious but if that bird was a mocking bird or a parrot the agents wouldnt want it hearing what they said to lucy and thats why she killed it by taking its head off or just a test to see if the test subjects can kill the things they love. i also think 'they' made her kill herself (the demon standing tall next to her/influencing that she does it) because they heard that mother might stop the treatments via syringes which would ruin their whole operation with lucy One last mention is that if you search up about LSD being used in medical treatment it says how it was used for anxiety (dalores+rakan), depression (dwayne+dalores+lucy), psychosomatic diseases (all) and addiction (dwayne) it could be represented as one per person but i can't really see that but its interesting that it all can kind of relate, i put lucy in depression and thats because in one of the tapes the quote is 'tear your jaw off of your ugly face' or something like that which could be the fact of lucy perhaps being bullied aswell which could be why she trusted this 'friend' so easily - easily manipulative as well I could be completely waffling and making no sense but this video just makes the cogs in your head run mad and im trying to connect stuff together. Especially when you play the game, love it ❤👍
Honestly I like the music, I don't get why every time someone is discussing a horror game the soundtrack has to be creepy. I'm here to understand the story and I don't need to feel creeped out or scared while doing so, the game already did that.
Agreed, but ambiance in a video is important (at least for me) and choosing a quieter song is simple. The only difference is that i'm not gonna write a comment to complain about it, especially since the video content is extremelly interesting
I kinda felt like it was more that the house was haunted and took many many victims but this video is very convincing so I’m not as sure anymore. Cheers for the amazing vid!
Depression and psychological issues aren’t chemical imbalances that the main stream science world loves to harp on.. I knew there was a reason I was drawn to this game lol
I think it could be both. This explanation doesn't really capture everything (specifically, the shadow demon). If this were all a drug trip, why did the little girl say a demon came to her through the TV?
@@km1dash6 kids literally make up imaginary friends all the time. spice that with alittle early schizophrenia or general psychosis and you easily got a kid killing birds. not to mention it was evident she was glued to the TV for a lot of occasions she was probably influenced by whatever was being televised.
@@km1dash6 no actually it makes sense if it's tied to MK ultra which would mean the administration of LSD then the girls experience could be the drug feeding off of her imagination whilst her imagination is running wild with whatever she sees on the TV the 2 things would collectively bounce off of each other in her head, resulting in what happened to her
Great video, very well thought and researched! I'd like to add some small details I noticed, specifically in Chapter Dolores. I think she was suffering from postpartum depression, which got really aggravated due to the chemicals the "doctors" administered to her. There is some interesting visual symbolism that seems to lead to this idea. The glass sphere and the mirror near the progress room that represents a woman's womb. There's also the vinyl with Fruhlingstimmen op 410, a waltz composed by Johan Strauss. Some people believe that classical music has a positive effect on babies while they're still on the womb. I believe that Dolores spent a lot of time listening to that vynil before having the baby. Also, playing the vynil at the end of the chapter leads to a room full of stairs and locked doors, which represent Dolores' mind. I think she was desperately trying to lock the bad thoughts plaguing her mind, but in the end she knew she would fail. I think that the fear of harming her own baby was ultimately the thing that made her take her own life. That's why she is seen saying goodbye to the baby right before doing it. I post this just because I loved chapter Dolores sooo much. It is beautiful, gut-wrenching and dark, and in my opinion, the peak of this game. I would love to see a full anylisis video on that chapter on the same vein of this one :D (also sorry if I said something that makes no sense, I'm not an english-speaker XD)
Seems like a lot of horror games have hints, or direct references to MK-Ultra. Outlast series, P.T. (theorized), Manhunt 2. Feel like I'm missing some, but anyway... the more people that learn of mk ultra the better.
My theory was that it’s all just a metaphor for him overcoming his addictions and faults to be with his family. The intro was then leaving him due to his problems and the game is him battling those problems and addictions so he can be with his family again, and the good ending is him finally overcoming them to be back with his family. But the biggest thing that’s made me question that is the ledger with his name on it saying he worked there. Also I believe Lewis Taylor is the black sludge man chasing you throughout getting the mask. Idk I hope he didn’t actually kill his family cause then I kinda dislike the good ending cause I don’t think he’d deserve to be with his family
I know it's fiction but holy sh*t Lucy is strong. Ripping off your own jaw is something a human should normally be unable to do in terms of raw strength alone.
@@Vivinski7 Because the jawbone is the toughest bone in the human body and is almost impossibly difficult to break off with your bare hands. Most people would not be able to tear off another human being's jaw, let alone their own, especially as a young child.
@@abhirupkundu2778 That's not a demon. It's LSD and adrenaline. You know there's a case a man cut his own penis but didn't scream or felt anything after taking a huge dose of LSD.
I totally agree with your explanation, you make a point and you back it up with the brilliant level design and hidden details in the game. It's amazing how this game tells its narrative through its levels with very little dialogue.
They should have added his two kids and wife, even if just added for extra guilt. Maybe the wife could have been angry and made for a good jumpscare and the kids asking why he killed them. It’s just a thought, but it would have added on to the guilt and horror atmosphere of the game.
Kinda peculiar they weren't apart of the game. You could justify it by saying he needs to represent a blank slate by the player's point of view, why include the family if that's the case? I was rushing through the game scared out of my mind, I didn't notice the little details
Sorry if I misunderstood, but MKUltra was real. The CIA did experiment on people without their knowledge and consent, they even tried to cover it up and destroy all the documents of it. The only reason we know about it now was because of a clerical issue that sent a bunch of documents to the wrong address.
I always thought that it was the house itself that was the problem, like a suburban version of the Overlook Hotel. The house drives the people who live there to take their own lives because their deaths feed it in some way, and you are one of the house's victims that is now trapped there and finding out what happened to previous residents that the house killed too.
This could be, but also almost all horror games have no reflection in the mirror, idk why, but that's why making me doubt is the main protagonist is a ghost or not, but thankfully that question is already answered
Ok but this made so much sense! Great explanation lol as I was watching the walkthrough (too scared to actually play it myself) I couldn't ever understand everything about every character, like I didn't understand that our MC was actually dead since pretty much the beginning. The biggest shocker and best crazy plot story was definitely the CIA LSD water spiking thing, and it actually made a lot of sense, and it was so interesting and honestly I'm sure that was hard to piece together, so good job. (;
And here I thought I was insane for going off about MK Ultra to my buddies I convinced to buy the game. Fantastic video. Awesome channel. I really appreciate that you don’t scream at the viewer to subscribe and follow.
Super late to the party, but finally just beat the game. This is the first horror game in a long time to genuinely scare me and make me feel incredibly uneasy the entire time. I went into the game knowing the popular MK Ultra theory, which made it all the more uncomfortable to play. Especially when you consider that they manipulated a child into murdering a pet just to manipulate the parents into bringing the child in, unknowingly, as a test subject. I also believe Dwayne fell victim to his own sins. Claire asks who prescribed him the pills that made him emotionally distant. I think he probably became another subject once his guilt became noticeable and they realized they'd probably have to silence Dwayne like Rakan. I think his guilt/potentially being drugged is the only reason he gets a redemption at all. And it's interesting with the Rose side plot. We see who Dwayne had a hand in killing in the home he died in, but it's alluded that Dwayne assisted in killing many people. Rose isn't just an interesting, nosy neighbor... She's a reminder that the drugged water/project is hurting people beyond the house's walls. Essentially, I think Dwayne's purgatory is to finally face the reality of what he's done (no longer deny it or drink it away), and the mirror mask ending is confirming that he's finally acknowledged and reflected on the lives, including his own, that he's ruined. Such an interesting and well thought out plot.
Dwayne was probably also one of the doctors who treated Rakan cuz the killing animation of Rakan is the same as that one cut scene in his chapter where he attacks a doctor
you're actually forgetting about Rose the 4 and probably last villain of the game as how she says that she would like to come visit us later on...but actually she's still alive tho and if we're just a ghost in a limbo symbolised by the house like the others too then how she can face us then?
We never meet Rose in the game. She doesn't know Dwayne and his family are dead, and that's why she calls. Notice on the phone call that she just rambles on, and doesn't ask any questions, and Dwayne doesn't speak. Rose was just the neighbour.
@@GamingHarryYT yep we only met Rose throught her calls but actually her calls are placed in some interesting ways: The first she asks about how we are, it's easy that she knows us but we don't really know her that much not until we finish reading the comic book... The second call appears after you collect some of the comic pages in which she talks for the first time about Frank, the way she talks about him is difficult to distinguish if it's either in a lovable way or not...maybe the second... The third call appears after you finish reading the comic book in which you can cleary notice her changement on her behavior....she mentions about Frank being busy and how she would like to came over us... Rose is the only character in the game that reached level of evil that are way bigger than the others and it's not caused by us indirectly but by Frank, not to mention how she ain't an entity in the house like Lucy's "friend" or Lucy too and the others but an actual real person She witnessed all the other people that were on the house together with their tragedies and is by far, together with Frank, the person that spent the most time being next to the mansion and knows the most the town and the victims way before us, cause we get to know more of em only later on by investigating in the mansion, now why i think she's important? Well i think she snapped at the 5 owner of the house: us, and now she wants to feel free again doing whatever she wants after freeing herself from Frank I actually think that we are still alive, the house is our limbo, our family died but we can't, we try and try but we ain't able to leave the mansion or to die, even on the bad ending we still end up on an infinite loop of a limbo while still being alive...i don't think that Rose knows what we did the radio was just the house that made sure that we remembered what we did, infact the house itself is infested by the victims that actually died unlike us, and we need to face them and our own past as the only way to not only get out of the house, symbolised by the packages on very end, but to reunite with our own family after having faced the reality of our mistakes, the fact that we can see Dwayne's hands of the very end makes me believe that we're actually alive, his family is dead, what we saw on the good ending was his vision his "Visage" that the others had too but our was positive cause we deserved that, Dwayne has the chance to reunite himself with his family and to regret what he did, a chance that the house is giving him since the souls are still preserved in it, after having him passed the tests that the house itself imposed to him, before the souls of everyone gets released including his family, Dwayne has the chance to say farwell to his family that is still waiting for him and most of all to actually speak with them one last time like he never did instead of just ignoring them Sorry for the long comment
I absolutely love this game because of the rich story, and in particular, how the gameplay beautiful supports that story. Everything that happens happens because it's important to the story. There are no cheap jump scares or gore shots just because it's a horror game, it's a horror game because the horror was what the game needed to do to tell the story it was trying to tell. It's one of my favorite games ever.
After hearing so much about this game I finally bought it. It’s pretty amazing and scary so I’m happy. Thanks for the breakdown, seeing this video a little while ago got me wanting to buy it.
At 10:03 Rose mentioned that their neighbor at that time is Lewis not Dwayne. If so, Dwayne lived at a different area at that time or maybe a different side or opposite of where Rose's house is? Or the agents took Lewis so that Dwayne can be disguised as Lewis to infiltrate the water treatment plant? In 14:32 -14:43 of your video none has been mentioned on how did Lewis died This might be because there is no Lewis actually existed. Dwayne is just simply disguised as Lewis and created the persona Lewis Based on the void ending if you looked up you can see that your character(Dwayne) is in the bottom of the well. It is safe to assume that the black humanoid entity is his consciences dragging him down to the bottom of the well (hell) Based in the comics, why does Rose always holds a "glass of water" in every end of an "era"?
Hmm interesting. But in the comic, and the part with Lewis in 1965, Rose says he lives alone with no kids and no wife. Dwayne has a family, a wife and two children. And they obviously lived there with him because the rooms upstairs indicate that. Your theory is interesting to think about though. But I still think Lewis existed and Dwayne killed him, and disposed of him down a well. That’s the great thing about this game, is that is heavily open to interpretation
okay but that doesn’t make sense why Dwayne would do that? Rose even speaks to him on the phone at the start and says “hi Dwayne, it’s your neighbour Rose”. Why would she call him Dwayne if she knows him as Lewis? It’s an interesting theory for sure but what evidence in the game points to that? I mean, we find Lewis Taylor’s access pass in the water treatment plant and he looks nothing like Dwayne. Even the gooey tar man, even looks exactly like that picture of Lewis Taylor, so it can’t be Dwayne
@@GamingHarryYT On 2:06 - 2:19 "Lewis" (Dwayne) lived in the house alone at that time as a single man in 1965. 2 decades had already passed and by this time line he already have a wife and kids that may have reoccupied the house on 1985.
@@GamingHarryYT I understand where are you coming from however keep in mind that Dwayne is working with the CIA Dewayne is in disguise Or Rose herself is suspicious With regards to my last question on my first post. There might be some sort hit/clue on why does she keeps on holding " a glass of water" every after each "era" ends based on the comics As for the call Rose made in the first half of the game, she is just worried only about Dwyane and did not inquired how his wife and kids are doing in the past 3 weeks
Thanks so much! I just watched a long stream of it but I couldn't piece out the whole story because the one playing knew the game all too well and did the tapes in disorder. Now I am finding the game way more interesting and I might watch another stream with all in mind.
I loved these videos... my friend bought this game, hyped it up for weeks, then shut it off after 5 minutes XD. I will never be playing this myself so I appreciate being able to watch it.
Wow, I completely misunderstood the story. I thought somehow, they were all apart of the family together and they went mad one by one. I went out of order though, I started with Rakan, then Lucy and I'm currently playing Delores.
I think Louis's death was probably an accident, not out right murder. I've been to water treatment/sewage treatment plants before for work, and the older ones often have large concrete cylinders with nothing but a thin bridge spanning the length, and sometimes they're only halfway. It's highly possible that a confrontation broke out if Louis saw Dwayne spiking the water, and Louis either tripped or Dwayne pushed him and he fell into one of the vats. I think it makes it worse too, for Dwayne's guilt, because at least if you try to do something you have the justification behind what made you try in the first place to reason away some of the guilt, but an accident can't be reasoned with.
In my opinion, the 'demon' Lucy becomes friends with is either a real demon or a figure of Lucy's imagination. It's most likely that if the demon is Lucy's imagination, then she had no friends, so made an imaginary one, and then it... went a bit wrong
I guess you could say both are true in some way or another. Connected in a spiritual sense and seeing their stories and how his choices in life affected them?
In Rakan's chapter everytime you wake up in the hospital the bed gets more and more covered in the black goo so I'm wondering what does that mean it gotta symbolize something right?
Why is there an indoor raven standing on a chair in the greed video tape? I think that guy in the TV with the plague doctor mask is a demon called Malphas, and no. That guy is not fictional. He's a real demon from demonology. Guess he's Dwayne's tormentor or at least has great interesst in Dwayne because his greatest sins happened in one house, and Malphas is involved heavily in houses and structures. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malphas
@@GamingHarryYT Thank you for replying to my comment, Harry. I greatly appreciate it. I think that raven represents Malphas himself as he usually appears as a raven when summoned. So signing that "You don't give an F" contract might have been Dwayne signing a contract with Malphas himself. It will only screw him over in the end. I also found a video on the demon Malphas, and if you watch it while thinking about plague masked guy in the TV, you find that the two erilly share similarities with each other. Here is an example, “There are also reports of him (Malphas) appearing so dark that the conjurers can only see his blue eyes.” Does that remind you of someone? Here's a link to the video, friend: ua-cam.com/video/g9D_4c5j8P0/v-deo.html

No idea what this game was about but it def freaked me out bigtime I almost had to stop playing multiple times now I have a understanding of the story I beat all chapters and got the mask
The Jumpscare kinda felt stale after the dolores chapter, but if this video interpretation is close to the story that the devs created, then this game is nonetheless clever and well structured!
One of, if not the best horror games I’ve played in terms of overall fear while playing and storytelling. Leaves a lot up for interpretation but still gives you an idea as to what’s going on. Great video i feel like i definitely like your theory it makes a lot of sense
This is the game with the Silent Hill 4 easter egg yeah? Was gonna say the "Go ahead. Drink this wonderful poison" scene had the hallucinations look like the twitchy movie version of the Nurses. Or the door with similar chains to The Room. Some bits look very PTish and I ain't saying that as a bad thing.
Wow I hadn't got any of this by playing the game lol thanks. The story is actually really good. I don't think the same about the gameplay though, while some of the puzzles are well thought out, a lot of them are super random. I had to help miself with walkthroughs cause I would get stuck all the time wandering around the house without knowing what to do, and that sucks because at some point you just stop trying and just go straight to the walkthrough to see what the next step is.
I was listening peacefully and then suddenly: "Lucy locked herself in the bathroom and ripped out her own jaw"... WHAAAAT?!? (I love your videos on Visage and Madison btw)
Ah, was hoping you'd clarify what Rose had to do with the story. When she said she would pay us a visit after she killed her husband, I thought she'd be Chapter 4's antagonist during the time the rest of the game was still in development.
I don't really think Rose had much to do with it really. I know she killed her husband, but i think that was because of the water supply. SadSquare made Visage such a complete game, and I think that if they wanted Rose to have a bigger part to play in the story, they would've included it, but instead they left it to the players own interpretation.
I personally found the gameplay to be kind of frustrating (I got stuck a lot) and gave up when I was nearly done Dolores chapter without having done Lucy's. This story explanation is really helpful to put pieces together after I've watched other chapter playthroughs. Thanks for the vid!

His wife probably actually loved him, but his depression warped his view of the relationship and his own self worth.
Oh yeah absolutly
My thoughts exactly. Seems weird that she would just say that to him. Especially the part about it being blood money, but she doesn't care.

Pretty sure that when a guy thinks that it's probably correct.
Most women do that... I mean less than ever before dont get me wrong but its still most women.
@@Forgesx I hope not. How do you know this?
A dead giveaway that Dwayne is dead pretty much right at the beginning of the game is that he has no reflection in mirrors, even though the objects he holds have reflections.
He shot the family and himself, you clearly see hands on the gun. The first and last time.
@@aNaughtyFox did you see him have hands in any other parts of the game?
@@nu_kercat1 did you read my comment?
@@aNaughtyFox yes i did, and im asking a question which you are supposed to anwser to
@@nu_kercat1 It says you‘ll see his hand for the first and the last time *only* when he shoots his family. Sorry if I wrote the first comment misleadingly
Some things I want to also point out:
- Chlorpromazine, the medication name on the pill bottle, notably has adverse effects when mixed with alcohol.
Loved this! Thanks for sharing!
@cursedtoast cool story bro.
Someone help? I am a bit confused ! I thought Lewis Taylor died before Rakan was in the picture. So why would Rakan have seen Lewis at all? And then shot at him?
In P.T., the radio announcer says, "you can't trust the tap water."
I guess these devs took that quote personally lol
Do you know if this game is connected to pt? Or just inspire?
@@user-uq2jo8hw6s Just inspired
@@user-uq2jo8hw6s It was inspired by PT
@@GamingHarryYT Haha, I never even considered that! I don't think I'd be brave enough to play it a second time!
The water contamination is probably based on a story The Shunned House from HPL
This remind me of Outlast 2
Great observation!
I mainly think the MKUltra thing is revolved around that house, especially when it comes to the whole lucy chapter because in the treehouse section you see a number of drawings that at first look like possession but when you look at this theory it makes it look like the agents communicated with her through the TV and radios which made her gain trust in this 'friend' and convinced her to kill peaco (repetition of 'get rid of it lucy' get rid of it' aka trying to test if the mind controlling works
this then leads to the picture of lucy with the needle in her arm (potentially the LSD) and her trapped within the shadows grasp (their control) also being in the treehouse and she still cant get away from the friend (radio in the treehouse) plus all the eye symbols.
When you finish the treehouse scene you then have to make your way to lucy's bedroom which you peak through the door in a parent like position in my opinion seeing what your kid is doing, then bam the 'friend' shuts the door aka telling us they dont want anyone interfering with whats going on (not letting us in)
I also think that dwayne mostly drinked alcohol instead of water because he knew that he spiked it or what had happened to it
Also with all the secret compartments and connections just makes the house seem like a perfect place for testing and spying
Next up is the the deloras death scene, you are spying on her when this happens which could give symbolism that all the victims are being watched to see how it all turns out seeing that she brutally murdered her husband because she thought he was poisoning her/trying to kill her (irony) but spared the baby perhaps meaning that these victims do have a sense of normal ness
With rakans death scene he was placed in a cellar and since the houses cellar which you first begin in is hidden down in the basement it only makes sense that he was trapped in the house hidden away to not be seen, i say this purely based off the fact that the mirror you look into when he gets locked in can be seen when you flash the camera into the room plus the prison vhs tape is found next to the opening of it, this all makes me think about how the agents didnt want him to live as he could spread word hence why he was trapped, but also because in lucys chapter the bird is killed. Why? Correct me if theres something obvious but if that bird was a mocking bird or a parrot the agents wouldnt want it hearing what they said to lucy and thats why she killed it by taking its head off or just a test to see if the test subjects can kill the things they love.
i also think 'they' made her kill herself (the demon standing tall next to her/influencing that she does it) because they heard that mother might stop the treatments via syringes which would ruin their whole operation with lucy
One last mention is that if you search up about LSD being used in medical treatment it says how it was used for anxiety (dalores+rakan), depression (dwayne+dalores+lucy), psychosomatic diseases (all) and addiction (dwayne) it could be represented as one per person but i can't really see that but its interesting that it all can kind of relate, i put lucy in depression and thats because in one of the tapes the quote is 'tear your jaw off of your ugly face' or something like that which could be the fact of lucy perhaps being bullied aswell which could be why she trusted this 'friend' so easily - easily manipulative as well
I could be completely waffling and making no sense but this video just makes the cogs in your head run mad and im trying to connect stuff together.
I think the lack of music or music coming to a sudden silence can also be extremely unnerving… It brings a whole new intensity & panic 👏
I kinda felt like it was more that the house was haunted and took many many victims but this video is very convincing so I’m not as sure anymore. Cheers for the amazing vid!
Thanks for watching and I’m glad you enjoyed!

Wow, love this comment. Thanks for sharing. It's incredible how deep this story goes. They literally included so much. Really well written game.
Seems like a lot of horror games have hints, or direct references to MK-Ultra. Outlast series, P.T. (theorized), Manhunt 2. Feel like I'm missing some, but anyway... the more people that learn of mk ultra the better.
Pretty sad world when reality is scarier than the game.
You’re not wrong there!
Yes I'd imagine alot of things in reality are scarier then games 🥴🥴
this was PT pretty much. the entire game felt like PT--even had the same storyline almost.

@The Derp just like the roblox horror game Imagine is inspired by visage

Thanks man nice research
Thanks man. Glad you enjoyed!
Same! Really well done 🤗
Interesting theory 👍🏻 thanks for sharing!
I think that he would deserve to be with his family. In fact, I think he was part of the experiments.

I know it's fiction but holy sh*t Lucy is strong. Ripping off your own jaw is something a human should normally be unable to do in terms of raw strength alone.
I mean anyone could do that when a demon controls you.
Well humans can easily hurt and break others, why would it be strange to physically pop joints from both sides in your jaw when delusional?
@@Vivinski7 Because the jawbone is the toughest bone in the human body and is almost impossibly difficult to break off with your bare hands. Most people would not be able to tear off another human being's jaw, let alone their own, especially as a young child.

The way he explained it, I convinced myself that it was a real history that really happened.
I figured he was a ghost since I looked into the parent's room mirror and saw no reflection.
This could be, but also almost all horror games have no reflection in the mirror, idk why, but that's why making me doubt is the main protagonist is a ghost or not, but thankfully that question is already answered
Or a Dracula?
@@dvdbox360 maybeXD but since it's psychological horror game, so it must be a ghost
I'd say the answer for that is a better immersion

Im super late as well but if this game made you uneasy try madison
Dwayne was probably also one of the doctors who treated Rakan cuz the killing animation of Rakan is the same as that one cut scene in his chapter where he attacks a doctor
Summary
Our main character died.
His soul wandering around the house as the playful demon showed Dwayne their previous "wonderful works" for him.
I've watched at least 5 UA-camrs play this game and I still couldn't figure this game proper.
So thanks for this.
you're actually forgetting about Rose the 4 and probably last villain of the game as how she says that she would like to come visit us later on...but actually she's still alive tho and if we're just a ghost in a limbo symbolised by the house like the others too then how she can face us then?
We never meet Rose in the game. She doesn't know Dwayne and his family are dead, and that's why she calls. Notice on the phone call that she just rambles on, and doesn't ask any questions, and Dwayne doesn't speak. Rose was just the neighbour.
Also sorry but actually on the very ending you can actually see Dwayne's hand so...again are we physical or not?
At the end we see Dwaynes family. Are they still alive? The ending is simply a vision. The afterlife if you will
@@GamingHarryYT yep we only met Rose throught her calls but actually her calls are placed in some interesting ways:
The first she asks about how we are, it's easy that she knows us but we don't really know her that much not until we finish reading the comic book...
Rose is the only character in the game that reached level of evil that are way bigger than the others and it's not caused by us indirectly but by Frank, not to mention how she ain't an entity in the house like Lucy's "friend" or Lucy too and the others but an actual real person
She witnessed all the other people that were on the house together with their tragedies and is by far, together with Frank, the person that spent the most time being next to the mansion and knows the most the town and the victims way before us, cause we get to know more of em only later on by investigating in the mansion, now why i think she's important? Well i think she snapped at the 5 owner of the house: us, and now she wants to feel free again doing whatever she wants after freeing herself from Frank
I actually think that we are still alive, the house is our limbo, our family died but we can't, we try and try but we ain't able to leave the mansion or to die, even on the bad ending we still end up on an infinite loop of a limbo while still being alive...i don't think that Rose knows what we did the radio was just the house that made sure that we remembered what we did, infact the house itself is infested by the victims that actually died unlike us, and we need to face them and our own past as the only way to not only get out of the house, symbolised by the packages on very end, but to reunite with our own family after having faced the reality of our mistakes, the fact that we can see Dwayne's hands of the very end makes me believe that we're actually alive, his family is dead, what we saw on the good ending was his vision his "Visage" that the others had too but our was positive cause we deserved that, Dwayne has the chance to reunite himself with his family and to regret what he did, a chance that the house is giving him since the souls are still preserved in it, after having him passed the tests that the house itself imposed to him, before the souls of everyone gets released including his family, Dwayne has the chance to say farwell to his family that is still waiting for him and most of all to actually speak with them one last time like he never did instead of just ignoring them
Sorry for the long comment

In 14:32 -14:43 of your video none has been mentioned on how did Lewis died
This might be because there is no Lewis actually existed. Dwayne is just simply disguised as Lewis and created the persona Lewis
Based on the void ending if you looked up you can see that your character(Dwayne) is in the bottom of the well. It is safe to assume that the black humanoid entity is his consciences dragging him down to the bottom of the well (hell)
Based in the comics, why does Rose always holds a "glass of water" in every end of an "era"?

I understand where are you coming from however keep in mind that Dwayne is working with the CIA
Dewayne is in disguise

With regards to my last question on my first post. There might be some sort hit/clue on why does she keeps on holding " a glass of water" every after each "era" ends based on the comics
As for the call Rose made in the first half of the game, she is just worried only about Dwyane and did not inquired how his wife and kids are doing in the past 3 weeks

Yeah i think it was her imagination. Clearly a troubled kid even before they started injecting her
@@GamingHarryYT Question is, what was troubling her? i think you should make a video about the visage character BACKSTORIES

Thanks for sharing, my friend! As for the raven, not sure. Maybe someone else in the comments can comment on it!
@@GamingHarryYT Thank you for replying to my comment, Harry. I greatly appreciate it. I think that raven represents Malphas himself as he usually appears as a raven when summoned. I also found a video on the demon Malphas, and if you watch it while thinking about plague masked guy in the TV, you find that the two erilly share similarities with each other. He is most certainly fictional but that very interesting!
This made me love the game even more. Thank you for the detailed analysis!
I've just finished this game. Great explanation !
Thanks. Glad you survived the experience haha
Time to make a movie out of this game. Great story. Really scary. I love it.
Thanks for the explanation!!! now I understand everything on this game :)
No problem! Glad you enjoyed!
I live 10 minutes away from Riversdale.. I need to go find this mansion...
I'm shook I had no clue thats where this game was based!
This is awesome! Dude, can you go here Quail Ln, Roseburg, OR 97471 ? This is a real lane address. The game house
with number 333, but I think that there is no such number there.
This is such a brilliant game from start to finish, I enjoyed watching your videos when you was playing this game, maybe they might bring out a second one later on, who's knows.. Anyway keep doing more horror games 👍🏻🎮 here is a suggestion horror game if you haven't played it already it's called Here We Lie
No idea what this game was about but it def freaked me out bigtime I almost had to stop playing multiple times now I have a understanding of the story I beat all chapters and got the mask
Pretty sure iv just spoiled this game for my self before even playing it and im only 52 seconds in
The Jumpscare kinda felt stale after the dolores chapter, but if this video interpretation is close to the story that the devs created, then this game is nonetheless clever and well structured!
One of, if not the best horror games I’ve played in terms of overall fear while playing and storytelling. Leaves a lot up for interpretation but still gives you an idea as to what’s going on. Great video i feel like i definitely like your theory it makes a lot of sense
This video is awesome, it's so well put together!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
Fantastic analysis! This deserves even more views.
after seeing this on gamepass, I was interested and the story is better than most movies I've seen lately. Way too scary for me though. Great video!
Haha, it's not too bad once you get through the first 2 chapters!
It would be a cool movie
3:44 my god as I look away CLONK.... that sound surprised me lol
This game is really something else. I don’t know why it isn’t considered one of the best modern games.
Its funny how almost every game about psychological horror has mk ultra as an explanation
Its really good heart attack simulator game I wish they create another game like this one
Visage is such a brilliant piece and thank you for the explanation. It makes 100% sense.
I forgot to look at Lewis Taylor's card when playing, the brown eyes seal the deal...
damn, video games are hell of a way to reach out to others with symbolism.
I cant believe you don't have more subs, these videos are superb my man!
Glad you like them!
i like to think it was rakan, dolores and lucy that dwayne meets at the good ending wheres theres a super bright light!!
Such a good explanation, since I don't get the point of this game. You explain it very detailed. Thank you so much I really appreciate that 🫂
You're very welcome!
Great video and super interesting interpretation! How did you come up with the MK project?
So much work on this video, congrats man.
Thanks my friend!
i cannot believe that the time is exactly 3:33am when im watching this. what r the odds. mind blown
Very good explanation
Thank you and I’m glad you enjoyed!
Such a clever game, well analysed by yourself.
Thanks for giving some extra clarity.
Yeah the puzzles were pretty hard in places!
That happened to me in the last chapter, I just stopped trying and googled it , just finished it now lol
Awesome & I love your voice
This is certainly interesting, i never thought that the military might involved in this game. I kinda like this theory.
I was listening peacefully and then suddenly: "Lucy locked herself in the bathroom and ripped out her own jaw"... WHAAAAT?!?
(I love your videos on Visage and Madison btw)
Amazing video. Thank you.
You’re very welcome!
This was basically pt if it was a full game
Ah, was hoping you'd clarify what Rose had to do with the story. When she said she would pay us a visit after she killed her husband, I thought she'd be Chapter 4's antagonist during the time the rest of the game was still in development.
I don't really think Rose had much to do with it really. I know she killed her husband, but i think that was because of the water supply. SadSquare made Visage such a complete game, and I think that if they wanted Rose to have a bigger part to play in the story, they would've included it, but instead they left it to the players own interpretation.
@@GamingHarryYT Makes sense now. Thanks!
Amazing video! Congrats
Thanks a lot!
That's a very interesting theory, thank you! Now the game makes sense!
What a fantastic summary!
Thanks! Really glad you enjoyed!
Visage was such an great video game to play at home and l'm glad that the developers made this game back in 2020 :]
I personally found the gameplay to be kind of frustrating (I got stuck a lot) and gave up when I was nearly done Dolores chapter without having done Lucy's. This story explanation is really helpful to put pieces together after I've watched other chapter playthroughs. Thanks for the vid!
Same. I got very frustrated a little after she almost cooked you in the oven. Maybe I am just not good at these kind of games, I would have enjoyed it much more without the sanity meter.
@@taylorv4 it has nothing to do with being good dont worry. I thought this game was a 7 hour slog with the OCCASIONAL good scare, but personally i really didnt enjoy it. It was agonisingly slow and the fact that you can just miss all this info is..bad design, imo.
I personally think the game is a metaphor for overcoming mental illness
Every person in the game with mental illness is insane, violent, and dies
Wow bro.. it is very Interesting..
Thankyou bro❤
You're welcome!
Great analysis my friend!
The only thing that I don't like is how the little girl died. A girl around 10 years old (based on her appearance) simply doesn't have the muscle strength to rip off her own jaw. 😅
Rakan's story broke my heart and so did Dolores's.
