I know there are people who strongly dislike the TEW2 I myself enjoyed the first one more but the second has its charm about it they did a good job with the guy who takes pictures and using murder for art I forget his name because I haven't played it in awhile but that villains soundtrack is unforgettable. TEW2 was kind of doomed before it released because whatever reason they decided to use the ID4 engine instead of the already released ID5 from a company stand point I think they did this as a means to not butcher other games that released around its time from the same company I guess they figured TEW2 would totally annihilate its sister games so they diluted it a bit there is a video on UA-cam about this look it up. Its been a minute since I watched it and I can't remember who did a review on it. One thing I do love about TEW2 was the steps they took to make it a different but still give you that same feeling as far as horror like all the employees being viciously slaughtered in the hallway the dark rooms ect.
@@aryangarg0608 I think everyone would agree that TEW2 was not a proper sequel to the first game. It was just, a completely different story with some new characters who wasn’t fleshed out.
Finally gave this game a go, really well made. The first two chapters felt a bit clunky and I was considering not playing it, but I went for a full playthrough and it was really intriguing
this game was so good and the story was a pretty brilliant concept, but my god did the story editor or whoever is in charge of putting the story together did a hotmess of a job connecting and putting the segments together into a coherent story. not to mention blocking the third act behind a DLC paywall. really hope they get to do a third game someday, because the second game seemed to corrected most of the flaws of the first game, but lost some of the first game's atmosphere.
I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm currently on chapter 11 or 12 and it honestly felt like it started to drag around chapter 9. How many more encounters with giant one-shot kill bosses do I need before they tell me what the hell is going on? Lol
Yes...exactly..my playthrough was 19h with 133 deaths but it felt like work at places because of how constantly they threw Sebastian into a creepy place just to get out and be thrown into another again
Not really. People couldnt understand the first one until they gave the dlcs. Plus the gameplay in 2nd was much better and smoother. Granted they went a little towards the safer route with father rescuing daughter story but the side quests, villains and other stuff made pt 2 much better than 1
@@AbsolAhm Objectively the first game was so much better. Without DLCs we could understand Ruvik’s story and he was written better than any of the antagonists of TEW2. Hell, the villains in Evil Within 2 was all shallow and forgettable and I’m still upset about that. None of them had actual backstory. Sebastian’s story was also forgettable and incredibly boring in 2; he didn’t have any character outside sad-dad trope and his daughter was just a plot device. The story didn’t go any deeper than save the princess storyline. In the second game they completely abandoned Ruvik, Leslie and Joseph for the sake of the poorly written family drama and converted Mobius into the weakest evil organization in the world for the sake of the forced happy ending. Everything was dumb in 2 and the second game’s characters were all like, written with no love. Also the second game was also boring in terms of gameplay. It relied on stealth too much, the level design felt just poorly crafted, the empty open world section was so boring and completely unnecessary and overall enemy AIs were so dumb. It was like the amalgam of other generic action games. Evil Within 2 was just a lazy, rushed, simplistic and uninspired game. The first game was not perfect but obviously the devs put so much more love and effort into it than the second game. It had way more originality and replayability.
@@well-being2608 that is where you are wrong, the first game is a mess, ruviks motive wasn't that clear. his actions made no sense, the atmosphere was absent because of the stupid mechanics and over powered weapons, the first games story was deep, but deep in a convoluted sense. plot holes, padding, characters being functions, the first games gameplay was frustrating as hell. there was no attempt to keep tension at all. theres so much i could talk about but that would take too long
I still think that The Evil Within 2 was so incomplete as a sequel of this game. Too many plot points got retconned or ignored. It was so unsatisfying as Sebastian’s story as well, since his personality is too different from the first game and he completely ignores Joseph(like wtf).
@@t.o.p6849 That was just passing mention and we could beat Evil Within 2 without hearing the conversation about Joseph. TEW2 Sebastian literally forgets about his partner, the only person who didn’t leave him when he was having the hardest time in his life, and gets his happy ending with his mcguffin daughter. And now many ppl are like “Seb’s story was completely wrapped up in 2 I hope he never shows in 3”. I know the devs hated Sebastian and Joseph’s relationship and they tried to completely erase Joseph from Seb’s story to make Seb a character that only works for sad dad story, but that was so rude to TEW1 fans and I’ll forever be mad about it.
I thought it was nearly flawless. I wish it had the same horror as the first, but overall felt like the story was phenomenal! EWI2 had so much more emotional tension that the first one didn't.

My theory on the end of the game (and I apologize if I misspell names). I believe that Ruvrik traded places with Leslie when he evaporated him, Ruvrik was outta stem and now Leslie was in control of it all but due to being completely unstable mentally Sebastian’s sub Consciousness dominated Leslie’s thus why the boss fight at the end of the game was so Chaotic and bizarre with Sebastian surviving being Impaled, why the bazooka was so Convenient for him, why he was in a military truck shooting a machine gun like a action hero outta movie. I think Sebastian was so caught up in a moment that his Subconsciousness created this Ridiculous boss fight and the thing he killed at the very end was actually Leslie considering he had traded places with Ruvrik.
It's a pretty lame fight in terms of gameplay, even if it's clever from a storytelling perspective. Personally I'd be looking forward to seeing what Ruvik would be like in Leslie's body after having years to clean up and gather resources.
I personally don’t think that the sister's appearance being monsterous had to do with the fire, but were actually a reflection of Rubin's warped affections for her.
In the last cutscene where Kidman ask Sebastian to play dead. There was a lady who stood behind her that looks like Tatiana wearing glasses and a black suit.
English not being my mothertongue, I find it hard to follow these type of games where we go back and forth through the story. I finished the game but had doubts. Thanks for making this video and giving a clear view of the story.
Honestly I really wanted to see Leslie again I was so disappointed when I played 2 and he wasn’t even mentioned because at the end of 1 you see him walking out the hospital like we are gonna see him again and has an unfinished story but no nothing of him In the second game
The Aspects that ruined my Evil Within 2 experience was the constant shifting in the story. Like, we're contrasting between a crazy artist, a religious fanatic and Sebastian's milky wife. One moment you're in a town chasing Stefano than you're suddenly trying to kill a priest which derails the plot because we go from fighting Stefano to fighting Lava guys. Another thing that pissed me off was the passiveness of the MOBIUS team - ''Alpha Team''. Helping the MOBIUS team members felt like filler content rather than contributing to the progress of the story. You have to take a quest from Julius in exchange for resources when logically you should get that shit for free. You wanna leave too don't you? At least we meet a cool chick named Torres who does take action but unfortunately dies because we *shoot her by accident....* this game sucks. the only interesting parts was the confrontation with obscura (camera creature) and Anima (ghost lady)
it's c*m(with the u) wife and also yes the developer of ew2 is the same guy who made the ew1 dlc who couldn't care less for survival horror and tension in general. Legit i could have made a better game then this white boy who thinks sneaking and one shotting every enemy is good game design.
So technically ruviks just like obito uchiha , ruvik being burned and obito being crushed by a huge boulder ,then their lover , ruvik (laura) and obito( rin) died. Then they try to make their own imaginary world ( stem for ruvik) and infinite genjutsu for obito) where they could live a happy life with their lovers
Please do the same for Evil Within 2, this is my favorite saga ever, I think the first Evil Within was just so perfect, we can feel the gameplay mechanics and the story of the game was perfectly polished, and the ambiance is very intense, even safe zones made me sweaty some times
18:00 This is the only part of the story that I don't understand; If Mobius had an injection that could give people the ability to resist the effects of Ruvik's influence, why didnt they give it to everybody instead of just Kidd? Wouldn't that have made achieving their goal a lot easier?
Fantastic timing, I just beat this game for the first time today, and I came looking for a good video.. was stoked to see you had done one. Thanks a ton for this man. Such an interesting game. I need to play the DLCs now for sure.
Damn, been a while since I see this. My ex and I used to watch play throughs together and I remember being obsessed with Leslie 😭😭😭 he really liked this game a lot
I think The Evil Within 3 will never happen, because they forcibly concluded Seb’s story in The Evil Within 2(such a terrible sequel). Now Seb doesn’t remember Ruvik and Joseph means nothing to him. His character totally depends on his daughter now because the devs now think video game male protagonist should be a sad dad(and nothing else). It’s sad to see Seb’s character and potential getting destroyed in such a way, but I had a really good time playing The Evil Within 1 and waiting for the sequel. I’m still grateful for that.
Watching this before I play The Evil Within 2 since I got it on steam and can't get it to work no matter what I try, I appreciate the attention to detail and covering the DLCs as well

@@tylercouture216 Yesss the first game wasn’t perfect but it was much better and had more replay value than the second game imo. The second game was just… very disappointing as a sequel and everything felt too safe and generic. Simply put it was just a forgettable experience.
Evil within 3. Wireless stem reactivates pulls krimson city entire population into its hellscape. Ruvik reappears starts taking over. Joseph is also a villain because of trauma caused by tew1. Sebastion kills both of them fights stem itself beats but is now stuck inside void. It all turns out he was a patient in beacon all along after his daughters death. The past games has been him falling into a delusion as a way to cope with his daughters death and his wife's disappearance(leaving him) with stem being a attempt to heal him only for his trauma to cause it to malfunction
Honestly I really wanted to see Leslie again I was so disappointed when I played 2 and he wasn’t even mentioned because at the end of 1 you see him walking out the hospital like we are gonna see him again and has an unfinished story but no nothing of him I’m the second game
I felt like the game was a bit disjointed in the first 2 chapters, but as soon as all of the story elements started falling into place more clearly I fell in love with the game. It feels like the curve to get adjusted to the games combat and story is a bit steep, bit once you're over it it's so much fun. Every little note, new piece of dialogue etc was so intriguing. After chapter 9(ish?) When Marcello reveals the group is in a shared consciousness, with everyone's shared memories warped and combined under Ruviks control, I just fell in love with the game completely. What a cool twist for an "alternative reality" plot line! It did feel a bit jarring towards the latter end of the game when it switches from the rural environments to the more urban areas (the hospital, city etc) but still fun. I also enjoyed the mixed storyline of Sebastians missing wife and daughter alongside the overarching plot. The monsters were amazingly designed. My absolutely favourite has to be the sister/spider monster. The fact that you fight her prior to learning about her and then afterwards it feels like a eureka moment! The long hair, the fire weakness, it was so cool. Even when I struggled with the game it never frustrated me to the point where I didn't enjoy the experience anymore, personally I felt the "challenge" of the areas and enemies to be moderately mixed and nothing felt far too difficult or far too easy. My only gripe is that after the 10th or 11th chapter the plot just gets slightly too messy. When they introduce the Kidman shooting Leslie thing it just added another side plot when things were already kind of full. I feel like they were trying for a "gotcha!" Moment but it didn't do that, it just felt a bit confusing because you then had to consider if a 3rd party was involved in this whole thing. And one final note, absolutely loved the nurse in the safe haven. I genuinely loved the mirror teleportation and the idea of a safe room with a unrelated character who helps you buff your skills or unlock items. Really cool mechanic for a game of this nature, I'm not sure if a traditional shop keeper would've fit the tone !
One crucial detail he forgot to mention which ties the story better is that the cult that julis village was involved in was the victorianos’ since they owned the church, and they would essentially kidnap people from the village and animals. The villagers then became fed up and burned the farm in retaliation. Also one of the people kidnapped from the village were the twins which end up being bosses in the church area, they were infants kidnapped and experimented on hence having them in stem as their deformed and crazy looking counterparts with one being named zehn. All of the enemies in game also represent the people in there which change things in the world of stem but ruvik is the one with the authority, for instance the base haunted you see throughout the whole game are just normal people ruvik experimented on but became monsters due to how long of an exposure they had to being inside. The enemy towards the end of the game on the cross is an embodiment of his families religion and pretty much is ruviks vision of rebirth. The sadist, is a serial killer whom was put in there. The invisible boss is symbolism for ruviks desire to stay in the shadows hidden and picking his prey. So I don’t know if this is a plot hole but pretty much juli and ruvik the whole time were close to each other in terms of where they lived, and it’s strange this doesn’t get brought up. Also another plot hole is that the art book never mentioned Sebastian had a dead daughter, only a missing wife, so they definitely added that late into development. Also one more fact, the enemies with the two faces or heads that appear near the box heads area are the real life versions of people and their stem versions colliding. The box head is Ruben’s desire to keep his secret safe, and the spider boss towards the end is a person in stem that didn’t get properly put in and in the process of becoming a haunted became something more, due to maybe more exposure than the others? Also he forgot to mention that ruvik controls everything literally everything, to the point that the mobius agent that haunted Juli wasn’t actually even there and ruvik just used that to keep her in fear, pretty much if you have been in stem before you have the mobius mark in your hand (the one Kidman has) meaning if you have that you’ve been in stem before and ruvik can place you in his world, so another little plot hole would be if Myra at the end has a mark meaning ruvik could have created her in stem why didn’t he? He could have used her to play against Sebastian’s fears and torment him with her.
Something worth considering is that The Evil Within was originally intended to be set in Spain in the 20th century, which to me reads as a prequel to RE4. The huge amount of Spanish names, the really odd feudal relationship between the villagers and the aristocrats, the distinctly medieval architecture, the technology and mental health standards largely being early 20th century at best...it's more interesting to me to see this as an exploration into the backstory of Los Illuminados, the Salazar clan, and how STEM was a prototype attempt at a hive mind prior to the rediscovery of Las Plagas.
Ok so you are correct on alot but some your not... all the enemies ( bosses) are aspects of ruviks personality and trauma.. you nailed that but this includes the sadist. He's not just a serial killer but rather the fact that ruvik was a serial killer. Yes some are people ruvik experimented on but considering seb takes on 20 at a time sometimes... it's safe to say that it's not just who he experimented on. The townsfolk that burned the barn did Not Do it because people went missing but because the Victorianos were wealthy and bought up all their land. The spider lady is not what you said...but a representation of ruviks biggest form of motivation... which is his creepy insestious love for his sister ( long black hair... girl slippers and vulnerable to fire which killed her) also... they do mention sebs daughter in a newspaper article that says lily castanellos and babysitter Juanita Flores killed in a fire that was believed to be arson. My biggest question never seems to be answered WTF WHAT WERE ALL THE BODIES IN THE HOSPITAL??? if the bodies were still on the ground when sebastian woke up who the hell killed all of those patients in the real world? And they were all sliced up... I assumed it was just part of the stem world but they are clearly on the ground when sebastian walks out of the hospital at the end
People give The Evil Within a lot of flak for having a crappy story, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The reality is that it’s just poorly told and very confusing. The DLC helps clear things up. Shinji Mikami is truly an artist.
They dropped so many TEW1’s plot points in the sequel, completely ignoring some characters… It was so disappointing. Almost felt like an insult to the first game’s fans.
I always thought tatiana was made by sebastian. Like she's sebastian's idea of something, maybe a caretaker or a favorite nurse even his desire or whatever.
one thing i found funny about the game was that Sabastian can get injured badly then walk it off but then the end fight shows him being thrown arounds like he is superman and get impaled then second later he is walking around like nothing happened i bet he has a Deadpool level healing factor
This is not the real world ..when sebastian was impaled he was in fact dying but because he killed ruvik before dying he was able to wake up. Wounds in stem do not cross over to our world unless it's death itself. ( you die in stem.. your heart stops in the real world)
I have the og xbox one I bought within release season (helps to work in a box store) and it still runs and I have both games. Theyre goood games, i recommend.
if Dr. Himenez and Ruvik knew each other in real life and the main events take place in 2014 how come Ruvik's memories are from Victorian-ish times??? that would mean Himenez should be like 100+ years old, no? it's so confusing, I like the lore of this game but can't wrap my mind around this. am I missing something?
I'm pretty sure the cult is 'the evil within' Mobius and that Wallace's backstory would have clarified that a lot more had they not clearly rushed and cut much of the game once they introduced Wallace. The Mu cult is basically Los Illuminados, an ancient and gigantic conspiracy which used Mobius as a front and likely has other contingencies if Mobius failed. It's likely that Ruvik might have become so cynical about humanity partly because he witnessed the atrocities the cult was able to convince the villagers and his father to commit - as far as he was concerned, he was just repaying evil upon evil. I suspect that Ruvik had a direct hand in the takedown of Mobius in TEW2, which makes the intentional avoidance of him feel all the more suspicious. Like maybe he had been secretly working a deal with Kidman and Joseph to take down Mobius (so he can steal their STEM assets), and Kidman deliberately avoided mentioning him because Sebastian already didn't trust her. Evil Within 3 might be about tracking down Ruvik as he plunges the world into his own wireless STEM network as a twisted way to 'save' them from the cult. I can see him in a healthier Leslie's body playing up the 'dark messiah' aesthetic.
I loved both The Evil Within 1 (+ DLCs) and The Evil Within 2, my favorite is still the first one for the care in small details Mikami puts in their games when he has the role of director. The Evil Within 3 is along side Left 4 Dead 3 in my list of games I wish to see announced

I kinda realized that the long haired monster is a projection of Ruviks sister, Laura, but i just now put it together the why she is weak to fire... Because that's how his real sister died ... Damn
I just wanted clarity on what happen to Ruvik and if he succeeded.
@@10RexTheWolf01 I know right but I do hope they do a TEW3 I would love to experience this
@@10RexTheWolf01 so you are saying that tew2 is not the sequel of tew?
@@aryangarg0608 It is it's just I was hoping on some closure about Ruvik since he look like he succeeded in the end of TEW.
The same thing happened to me, the two first chapters don't get me but I give it a try and wow, I just finished the two games. Really good ones tbh
Much respect to the game developers who created such a master piece
this game was so good and the story was a pretty brilliant concept, but my god did the story editor or whoever is in charge of putting the story together did a hotmess of a job connecting and putting the segments together into a coherent story. not to mention blocking the third act behind a DLC paywall.
really hope they get to do a third game someday, because the second game seemed to corrected most of the flaws of the first game, but lost some of the first game's atmosphere.
Maybe that was their intention? Since we are inside someone's mind, some things don't make sense lol
Spot on! Would love a remaster for the first game.
That atmosphere was lost with the game having more of an open world in some respects can't be as scripted as the first game.
@@unknowna8056 that doesn't excuse it and when you do find out, more plot holes reveal themselves
What you mean that’s the third act is locked behind a paywall?
This game was amazing, but it really felt like work going through it.
True I'm at chapter 13 and I feel like a wreck THE most confusing story ever but gun play is fun. Stealth is broken and melee is useless.
The first game was way better than 2. It had way more original and interesting story.
@@AbsolAhm have to respectfully disagree the first one was way better
@@well-being2608 that is where you are wrong, the first game is a mess, ruviks motive wasn't that clear. his actions made no sense, the atmosphere was absent because of the stupid mechanics and over powered weapons, the first games story was deep, but deep in a convoluted sense. plot holes, padding, characters being functions, the first games gameplay was frustrating as hell. there was no attempt to keep tension at all. theres so much i could talk about but that would take too long
@@cappedminer369 You only like games that spoon-feed you the story
the only criticism I have for the game is it's in widescreen and there's no way in the options to turn it off
Pretty sure you can. Turn off the letterboxing
I still think that The Evil Within 2 was so incomplete as a sequel of this game. Too many plot points got retconned or ignored. It was so unsatisfying as Sebastian’s story as well, since his personality is too different from the first game and he completely ignores Joseph(like wtf).
@@UnpluggedHumor But Sebastian does talk about Joseph tho
@@UnpluggedHumor He ignored Joseph and had such forced happy ending with his mcguffin aka Lily, which was bullshit.
The first game’s story was a lot more interesting than the second one😔
the first games wasn't that good. it had concepts that we're interesting but the amount of plot holes inconsistencies and lack of character development prevented it from being fun
@@cappedminer369 still way better than the boring story, terrible storytelling, fridging women characters and the laziest “character development” we got in the second game. The first game had a lot of potential and the sequel just ruined the franchise, I’m still sad😔

The name "Lore and Order" is so apt.
Currently on chapter 11 or 12 of the game. I have some vague idea of what's going on but not really. Saving this video for when I finish the game.
I personally don’t think that the sister's appearance being monsterous had to do with the fire, but were actually a reflection of Rubin's warped affections for her.
this is what I was thinking but couldn’t formulate it into words
She could also be made of Ruviks desire of vengeance for what was done to her.
The first game is a masterpiece!! The second one was disappointing tho.
Never played this game but I've fallen into a binge of your content and your voice is so relaxing
Honestly I really wanted to see Leslie again I was so disappointed when I played 2 and he wasn’t even mentioned because at the end of 1 you see him walking out the hospital like we are gonna see him again and has an unfinished story but no nothing of him In the second game
Evil within my favourite horror game no doubt
The fact that I work by A beacon mental hospital makes this more scary
I hated it when Torres died.
@@GamingHarryYT Yeah. Only character that actually felt like a friend.
it's c*m(with the u) wife and also yes the developer of ew2 is the same guy who made the ew1 dlc who couldn't care less for survival horror and tension in general. Legit i could have made a better game then this white boy who thinks sneaking and one shotting every enemy is good game design.
The Evil Within is the one horror game that needs a remake.
I lost count how many times I played both evil within 1 and 2. They’re criminally underrated.
The first game is always the best one. I was deeply disappointed with the sequel.
Silent hill 2
So underrated this game 🎮 I wish they would make a 3 😢
The first one was way better than 2.
Well atleast we got to finally kill the Sadist in the second one, hated that guy

Haha yeah they do. Good job I have a comfortable chair!
The Silent Hill 2 effect lol
Finally some one giving this game its due credit ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Evil within 3. Wireless stem reactivates pulls krimson city entire population into its hellscape. Ruvik reappears starts taking over. Joseph is also a villain because of trauma caused by tew1. Sebastion kills both of them fights stem itself beats but is now stuck inside void. It all turns out he was a patient in beacon all along after his daughters death. The past games has been him falling into a delusion as a way to cope with his daughters death and his wife's disappearance(leaving him) with stem being a attempt to heal him only for his trauma to cause it to malfunction

@@Poisonedwight yea and even without a passing mention like joseph being alive
Took the words right outta my mouth, I'd say this game also *shines* on higher difficulties like nightmare and Akumu
How they got into Stem always confused me for a while
The first video game that got me into video games...❤
Such a great video
Good shit, please keep making these types of videos. Especially for horror games that aren't super mainstream.
People give The Evil Within a lot of flak for having a crappy story, but this couldn’t be farther from the truth. The reality is that it’s just poorly told and very confusing. The DLC helps clear things up. Shinji Mikami is truly an artist.
Evil within is the game that gave us closest vibe to resident evil 4
These games gave me nightmares the monsters were so freaking terrifying and the environment 🥶🥶
It looks so good in 60fps! Huge difference
Nah... she was an actual nurse that went missing... maybe she was a secret mobius agent who was friends with Myra. BUT she was real

I honestly didn’t understand why some people didn’t like the game. I thought it was fantastic and well told and played!
one thing i found funny about the game was that Sabastian can get injured badly then walk it off but then the end fight shows him being thrown arounds like he is superman and get impaled then second later he is walking around like nothing happened i bet he has a Deadpool level healing factor

The cult may be connected to theodore Wallace from the sequel since that symbol and the fire come up when he takes over stem.
I rlly loved both tbh great game
