Hey Kyle great idea for this video super interesting to me to hear your mother is a professional musician. I guess she’s your mom so it’s normal to you but very cool. I would love to see one on one reviews with your family members. Especially your pops.
Waiting on a Model Y for my wife, she doesn't care about all of the tech stuff, she just want a nice car that drives great. This is the kind of video she will watch!
EVERYONE thinks that Kyle - your mom is awesome! ☺️ Hopefully we'll see her on future updates to track her experiences with day to day driving and roadtrips. So happy to hear she got a powerwall, I thought most who earned those were still waiting for delivery. The Y seems much more comfortable and practical for road trips with the hatch and extra space, and easier entry and exit, along with better visibility
Tesla is still using old battery technology. BYD's blade battery technology has revolutionized car battery sector. ua-cam.com/video/qw11YEnToHE/v-deo.html
I hope you weren’t talking about Kyle when you said youtubers because he owns a model 3 performance and has done thousands of miles of road-tripping. That’s why I like his channels, he’s owned quite a few different cars.
You have an awesome Mom, Kyle! She’s a little younger than I am, so I can appreciate her perspectives. I doubt you can be too nice to her on Mother’s Day!
More Kyle's Mom videos please. I have my parents interested in an EV after riding in my Model 3, and videos like these help break the idea that they're "too old" to get something innovative.
This is probably the best car review I watched in a long time. Great questions and answers that touched basically everything we need to know about this vehicle I am interested in buying.
This was an incredible video. The back and forth between you both was very refreshing. I hope to see more videos like this in the future. Keep up the great work!
I am with your mom. Main things I think Tesla could do to improve the Model Y is take some easy cues from other autos. 1) Light up symbols on the mirrors when there is a car in your blind spot. 2) The rear view visibility sucks, make the rear view mirror togglable between a screen that shows the view behind you and an actual mirror. 3) All Tesla's should come with Out of Spec bumper stickers.
Your mom’s review is spot on. Agree 100% on missing blind spot monitoring. For pet owners, dog mode is awesome. We use it weekly since our dog loves to go everywhere with us including grocery runs where he’s not allowed. In general, I prefer my wife’s 2021 model y over my 2019 model 3 except for long highway drives since I have fsd on the 3 but not the Y.
Thank you, Kyle. People thinking you are a Tesla hater, that's exactly why I subscribed to your channel. There are only a few EV channels that I follow because most of them are only talking or even worshiping Tesla and totally ignoring the issues they have. You are a true car enthusiast and a real EV owner. Only the real owners will "earn" the "XX hater" title. I got that for commenting the cons on almost every car, phone, computer, motorcycle, firearm, or other "men toys" I own. People just straight out thinking I'm a hater of what I owned. But why would I buy them if I'm a hater? There are many issues and design flaws that only real users would discover over time. As much as I like your enthusiasm, I love your optimistic attitude even more. You seems always being patient even the car refused charging late at night🤣. If I have that many issues with Tesla's quality, Mach-E's charging, I'd be exploded, LOL 😆
Two Things Kyle. One, your Mom is charming. Two, I really agree with her points on the car as a Model 3 owner. It's an awesome ride and I agree with her point concerning the blind spot situation. She's right about the aerocaps too! After you "drift" your test rides you need to get her opinion!
Re: Steering ratio -- my understand it is speed sensitive (highway speeds vs slow speeds); AFAIK the comfort, standard, and sport mode is just a resistance (how much human input) but doesn't change the ratios.
Kyle your impressions are spot on. The steering is too quick. It would be more relaxing to drive with a slower ratio. The ride is sports car firm. I think the non performance models should ride more smoothly and be quieter.
I think they’re already looking to get rid of mirrors with software soon, but in the meantime while I’m driving, not having on mirror blind spot indicators is the biggest drawback of the entire car! My MY will be delivered next month.
great video....loved how your mom spec out her Tesla, the wheel caps match the door handles. I love the interaction between you and your mom....I can see where your manners come from:-) Amazing job.....and I would love to see your mom in more videos!!
Random observation, my B pillars were also a bit loose inside like hers, at the service center they tucked them in and reclipped them and they are super tight and flush now!
I like theses videos you've been shooting! I think the Model Y looks much better without the aero wheel covers. I like the black wheel and lug caps. I made the same changes on my Model Y. I thought concerns about the aero covers were silly until I took some photos of my car. Yikes! Your mom is great!
I think the black wheel caps look fine. I have a Model 3 with the aero wheels. I had a metal polishing shop media blast the wheels and polish the aluminum to a mirror finish. I expected them to do the wheel caps too. They didn’t, but I wasn’t exactly disappointed by the contrast in the caps against the rims. Also, I may be wrong, but I think her car should have the heated steering wheel available. I didn’t notice the horizontal seams at the 10 and 2 o’clock positions. That seam indicates the older style wheel. She may be able to request a software update to activate the heated wheel.
Kyle and Mother, what a great video. Very nice seeing Mother and son ❤ driving and having a great chat about the model Y and others. I think she likes it. I bet the Y will be the road trip car right after they take the ID4 on a long trip. I too like the ID4, but when I have been on a trip with my friend in a Bolt EV, the Electrify America charging stations were broken and way too hard for a new EV owner. Being charged different rates if you had an account or not. He thought they worked like a Tesla Supercharger, plug in and go eat - using the phone app to know it was still charging and when to be back.
If someone is in your blind spot and you turn on your turn signal they will flash red on the screen and the car will beep, I think I would agree about having a blind spot light on each door if the car didn't beep when someone is there
I really enjoyed this video! I just ordered my Tesla Model Y which will come in October. I live in Connecticut, in Fairfield County and hoping to see Mom driving around and I’ll beep and wave at her.
I also have a 2021 Model Y long range. Took delivery December 2020. Didn’t get the new scroll wheels or heated steering wheel or the year of free supercharging. But I also have a vacation house in Naples. I will be on the lookout for your mom during my next trip there. LOL
Very cool. I like the black lug nuts and center caps. I think they look great. But then again I like chrome as well. And I'm older than your mom. So of your folks generation plus a little. Bring her on more. She seems to be a cool Lady. Thank you.
I love your videos. I think you are a honest cool guy. Nice to see you guys don't have any filter when it comes to sharing your family. Something rare this days. btw. If she is concern about blind spot monitoring , the upcoming Ionic5 has an very nice interesting choice that I'm sure your mom will love. thanks
Kyle, Tesla started doing model years at the end of 2019. All Q4 / 19 production had the 2020 model year in their VIN. My M3P being one of them, delivered by december 2019.
At 82, I bought the NFC Ring Key with a Gold looking KOA wood finish as I don't need my Phone or Key Card to Get In & Drive. It is really Handy and never needs charging. It is a key card in a ring and in fact, there is a UA-cam video of guy disolving a Tesla Key Card in Acetone and making his own Key Ring.
You definitely have a nice car, I love Maximas. I'm looking to get my fourth one, a 99 Maxima SE (maybe limited). Maybe I'd love to have your 95 Maxima instead. What color is it and how many miles do you have on it now ?
I love to hear owner perspective! What a wonderful mom. Kyle please give us the white seat cleaning formula. If I had unlimted money, I'd buy a porsche taycan.
I Agree Kyle. I own. 2. ID-4. A Pro S w Gradient Package. Moonstone Gray. &. A. 1St Edition Pearl White. Love them both. Both of my ID-4. Are super Quiet. Very calm and quiet
Dam, my 2020 Y will be a year old on July 28th and I just turned 81xx miles. I pulled my Aero Caps and painted the Gemini wheels gloss black with red calipers. Even off the car averaged 270 wh/mi during our first long road trip from southern IL to southern MD over the Independence Day weekend and it was HOT and HUMID.
BTW a workaround for steering heating is to poitn the airflow towards the steering wheel when exiting the car in winters. Then do preheat operation. the airflow will heat the steering wheel.
I have a 1/6/21 MY build and the same unique transition-year quirks are on mine (double pane windows, new stroll wheels but no heated wheel, old console). I have a M3P on order now and my wife will then drive the MY. My parents also have a MY ordered, so was cool to see your mom's perspective on the car as my mom will be the primary driver on their MY. Guess we sort of caught the Tesla family bug. We visited Marco last February and pretty sure we stayed at the same condo high rise your parents live - Good spot!
First. Your Mim is awesome!! I had the exact same experience today at a stoplight facing into the sun with the visor down. Keep doing what you are doing, love the content.
For blind spot, hyundai/kia have the best system so far. They automatically show you the blind spot camera on dash when blinker is on. It's just a software update away that Tesla just didn't do.
Do you notice how often she messes with her shoulder belt, moving it off to the side? My wife has the same problem in our 3, the shoulder belt will chafe her neck so she's always fiddling with it trying to get it to stop that. The adjustment doesn't go down far enough.
Thanks for sharing . I just hoped your mom shared some about the glass roof … I love Tesla model Y too. but I have been hesitating about the glass roof. Could it be a problem to people who have UV issue ?
What a great pair! Fantastic mom and son. I love the interview. Why can't you let her test the Taycan Cross Turismo on a tour from Connecticut to Florida? She dream about the Porsche...
Thanks, Mom for joining me on camera! Always great to include you in what we are doing. Who else thinks we should have my mom on the channels more??

She's great. Would like to hear what she thought about the id.4.
Your Mom is awsome. And she is right, the black caps look better.
Kyle, it's refreshing to see perspectives from actual owners/drivers rather than UA-camrs. Keep them coming!
Tesla is still using old battery technology.
BYD's blade battery technology has revolutionized car battery sector.

@@cosmoray9750 Shut up, Cosmo. You're going to upset the Tesla fanboys with facts!! LOL
I hope you weren’t talking about Kyle when you said youtubers because he owns a model 3 performance and has done thousands of miles of road-tripping. That’s why I like his channels, he’s owned quite a few different cars.
@@cosmoray9750 yeah, and the BYD Tang still has shit range and consumption…. Lol
this is my favorite part of this channel; actual customers talking about their cars
The black wheel cap kit looks fine -- the trim is all black so it ties the wheels into that.
nah, i prefer the silver to match the wheel
they look real good powdercoated actually
I prefer it over silver caps. Got black in mine too. Powder coating on “the list”
You are Sooooooooo LUCKY Kyle , Your Mom is very supportive of You and SHE’S ABSOLUTELY AMAZINGLY AWESOME ❤️🥰❤️
She bought and installed the correct center-cap and lug cover set. There is no chrome on the Y, the black color matches all of the trim on the car.
You have an awesome Mom, Kyle! She’s a little younger than I am, so I can appreciate her perspectives. I doubt you can be too nice to her on Mother’s Day!

you can set the screen to be the rear mirrow.
Really enjoy watching videos your dad does, and seeing your mom now, great stuff! Love how she loves her Y.
Love how mom embarrasses Kyle 😂 You liked noisy cars now you don't like them 😂
I loooove these kinds of videos. Real people with real opinions about their cars. Excellent!
Your mom’s review is spot on. Agree 100% on missing blind spot monitoring. For pet owners, dog mode is awesome. I was just coming to say your mom is AWEsome and realized all the other comments say it already. So here's another!! ❤️
Love your mom and your relationship!!! You can tell she really loves you! Loved this video!
Def a great video partner. Builds up the older generations' ability to withstand change (ICE to EV.) Congrats.

He may be a car enthusiast, but I think he should have to run the Cannonball in the I3 to get the merit badge.
Your mother is a very nice lady. Great video.
Love this interview. Your Mom is great!!. I agree with the comments regarding supercharging stations. Great network. Love my Model X.
Good job Mom! I think people underestimate how the older generations adopts EVs quicker and in greater numbers because they have the financial means.
It is so interesting to hear your Mom's back story and her love of music. Excellent video.
Two Things Kyle. One, your Mom is charming. Two, I really agree with her points on the car as a Model 3 owner. It's an awesome ride and I agree with her point concerning the blind spot situation. She's right about the aerocaps too! After you "drift" your test rides you need to get her opinion!
This is one of my favorite review videos you've done. This was such a fun, genuine conversation. Loved the whole thing!!
Re: Steering ratio -- my understand it is speed sensitive (highway speeds vs slow speeds); AFAIK the comfort, standard, and sport mode is just a resistance (how much human input) but doesn't change the ratios.
great video with you and your mother, I loved her honesty!
This conversation is so wholesome.
Kyle your impressions are spot on. The steering is too quick. It would be more relaxing to drive with a slower ratio. The ride is sports car firm. I think the non performance models should ride more smoothly and be quieter.
It’s quieter than a 4WD Audi / BMW SUV ! What do you expect ?
Tesla does need blind-spot monitoring in the side mirrors. That would make it even more aweasome.
I think they’re already looking to get rid of mirrors with software soon, but in the meantime while I’m driving, not having on mirror blind spot indicators is the biggest drawback of the entire car! My MY will be delivered next month.
Tesla has something coming in a SW update. Stand by.
Put a yellow indicator on the left/right top corners of screen, a 2cm square or circle would work; maybe slow flash. Easy sw fix.
Like to see her on a road trip with charging stops and auto pilot. She is very engaging on camera and really comes across well with her perspective!
I love your mom, she is wonderful!

Thanks Mum (Aussie spelling), your driving the Model Y that I would like ... when we can get it here in Oz!

With my latest software update, my car now uses the left lane marker to position the car rather than use the middle of the road at on and off ramps.
Great review, thank you! I would love to see an update after 1-2 years of owning the model Y and a comparison with ID4, Ioniq 5, GV60 etc.
You have such an amazing and beautiful relationship with your mom :) excellent video too!!
Kyle, Tesla started doing model years at the end of 2019. All Q4 / 19 production had the 2020 model year in their VIN. My M3P being one of them, delivered by december 2019.
I can confirm. I bought a Model 3 2019 the last day of Q3 aka September 2019 as a 2019, and in October they were sold as 2020.

Great video, Kyle and Mom...
You have a wonderful Mom. Thanks for the Video. Interesting as well. Greetings from Germany where we drive an E Golf and an Enyaq iV 60.
"Welll I think I disagree" I'm convinced we have the same mom 😂 I like the black caps for the wheels!
The square steering wheel for tesla is perfect 👌😁
Your Mom is an awesome lady
Great Video! Very interesting to hear your Mom’s experience.
Mom is doin right removing the aero covers and grabbing the black center caps and lug nut covers. It’s a great look.
Great job mom. Now I wish I had ordered my Y with white seats.
Kyle my mom has blond hair too but she is crazy. You're lucky to have a normal mom.

Nice mom :-) I ordered a white Y in March 2019. Could come from Berlin in 2022.
Awesome video, we ordered our Model YLR in red. Hoping to get a delivery date soon!
wheels look even better with powdercoat matte black- great review
Skip to 2:33 minutes if you want to meet mom 😊
At 25:07 your Mom is putting her seat belt on the side, not the shoulder, it is not safe. Please help her to adjust it for torso comfort.
Do you notice how often she messes with her shoulder belt, moving it off to the side? My wife has the same problem in our 3, the shoulder belt will chafe her neck so she's always fiddling with it trying to get it to stop that. The adjustment doesn't go down far enough.
Have you tried raising the seat position?
GREAT interview….your mother is enchanting!
Thanks for sharing . I just hoped your mom shared some about the glass roof … I love Tesla model Y too. but I have been hesitating about the glass roof. Could it be a problem to people who have UV issue ?
I have a refreshed MS LR on order for 4 months now, I don't think it will ever arrive.
Your Mom is great. A very fair review.
The Y has three steering settings. Do you have an issue with the steering ratio on “comfort” as well?
What a great pair! Fantastic mom and son. I love the interview. Why can't you let her test the Taycan Cross Turismo on a tour from Connecticut to Florida? She dream about the Porsche...
Blind spot indicator/monitor and heated steering wheel - haha! Both functions ID4 has😃
Oops visibility is another one.
