I have a Model 3 Performance W/FSD, I have over 45 years of driving, it’s the best car I’ve owned yet - very happy with it! Ordered the 3 Motor Cyber Truck with FSD. We’re building a new house, the garage will be wired with two wall connectors. The difference between 30 miles of range an hour and 40 miles of range an hour isn’t much…unless you need it. Each of the two nearest Tesla Super Chargers are about an hour away. Here, the nearest Super Charger is about 7 minutes away. 3% is the lowest we’ve been and that was on a cross country trip. That gave me range anxiety! Really, the only time we use Super Chargers are for road trips. I liked you wheel strategy, a second set of wheels reside in the garage with Winter tires, and I will use one of them as a spare for cross country trips. Great video! Thank you for the time and effort to post. Stay safe!
Great advice. I appreciate how it is presented as “best for me” or “best for most people” and acknowledging that some people may be better served by different choices. By stating the reasoning behind the recommendations, we can decide what is going to be best for us. It is good to hear a clam voice of reason and useful information.
Thanks for the tips. I have previously wrapped my cars and my tip to readers is to buy plain rolls of PPF rather than that those precut template kits, which are a PITA to apply. They are expensive and cut very precisely which requires a very high skill to install cleanly. You need to be incredibly precise in positioning the template and plan ahead as uneven stretching will throw you off leave less than desirable results in other areas. With a whole sheet you don't have to worry about that. You have plenty of material for stretching as well as do-overs. With the precut templates you screw up just once and your out. You'll have have to buy another precut film.
I’ve had good success. I did have to do the first bumper twice previously, but the 3M PPF seemed to be a tighter fit and stretching was not consistent with the material. The Xpel material was cut excellent with less stretching and more forgiving to work with
Yep he and Ryan Shaw are my go to peeps for everything Tesla. Taking delivery of Model Y in two days and totally ready with accessories and charging thanks to these gentlemen.
A couple points. 1. I highly, highly recommend test driving before finalizing your financing details if possible. Once the order is in that state, it is much harder to change the configuration. I switched to performance thinking the ride was going to be acceptable, but after test driving performance vs long range - I could tell the difference and the performance actually made my wife sick (too fast). By that point, I had actually moved my order into the financing phase, securing a loan. It was hard to get a rep to change it, so I ended up canceling and re-ordering (losing my deposit). The trick here is to tell the rep at the showroom that you want to test drive a performance vs long range - otherwise you will get whatever is available. We did reserve two test driving sessions back to back to make this easier. In our case, we test drove a performance model 3 vs a long range model Y. While not perfect, it was enough to tell the difference since they are based on the same platform. 2. I completely agree with the NEMA 14-50 recommendation. The other thing to consider is resell value. The Tesla charger isn't going to be worth anything to anyone if they don't own a Tesla if you end up selling the house. But, 14-50 outlets are useful for all EVs and actually have uses beyond charging EVs. Unless you are fairly confident you aren't going anywhere anytime soon, then stick with the NEMA outlet.
My dealership gave me a bunch of cards and told me to test drive as many as I want, it was slow that day lol I didn’t like the performance because the range got sucked up so fast 💨
I like my elegant dedicated Tesla wall connector. If I move and the buyer doesn’t value it, I can take the connector with me and either put a NEMA 14-50 outlet in its place or just terminate it and cover it with a plate.
I was going to get a NEMA 14-50 but an electrician told me to get a Tesla wall connector instead. I'm stuck with a Tesla charger and didn't hire the electrician that Recommended the wall connector.
@@jackiestarr2881, the Tesla wall connector is great, so I wouldn’t view it as “stuck”. And if you or a future owner really wants a generic plug there in the future instead of the wall connector, it shouldn’t be rocket science to make the substitution. The wiring should be the same. Depending on the size of the breaker they used, you might have to swap out for a slightly smaller breaker. But that’s a tomorrow problem. For today, enjoy the elegance and performance of the Tesla wall connector.
I just got my SR+ with the “Chinese” batteries on September 8. Love it! I wish I could have afforded the LG or the Model Y. I have 3 kids and we are having a challenge getting 2 booster seats and 1 car seat in it. My wife is mad at the car! $10,000 for FSD is too much. I did install the Tesla wall charger. I was going to just use the mobile charger, but the cost to run a line for a NEMA 14-50 alone vs installing the charger was the same about $1100. I had to run a 90 feet wire from my circuit breaker to the garage. I got blue and it looks awesome! My friend does detailing and he is putting on a ceramic coat on the paint. I’m going to use ceramic coat protection on the interior (black).
@@BeardedTeslaGuy I'm not even kidding. Every video rates its acceleration, its charging and range, space in the back. But no one spoke about what config is good, so I was lost before buying. I've placed my order yesterday literally after watching your video. Even told the salesman.
You spoke to me right out of the gate; I would definitely be that guy wishing I’d ordered the color I really wanted. I’m now changing my order to red from gray on my MY. Thanks for the nudge.
Clicked on this to see if you'd mention nose protection. You did! So important! Reason is Tesla paint is very very soft. Protecting the nose will up your resale value for sure! Great job on the vid!
Excellent video, you did not waste a lot of air talking about nonsense stuff, thank you.. You just stated the facts, Looking to purchase a Model Y next year. Wife picked up her model 3 in June 2021, she loves it.
Excellent video for all Tesla owners because many of these apply to ms & mx. My biggest problem with FSD is it stays with the vehicle and not owner. I lease or get a new car every 3-4 years so economics don’t make sense. My first Tesla was in 2017 and 2nd arrives this month after 10 month wait. I installed NEMA 14-50 EVSEs in our northern & southern homes at a cost of about $100 each. Home charging is usually done while you are sleeping or with family. It makes no difference if you charge at 8 or 12 kW because most of the time you‘ll reach charging goal in the morning. A wonderful channel so had to subscribe.
Great video BTG! We bit the bullet for red with white interior ... never looked back. The white makes the car so "bright" to drive. It's a mood lifter for sure!
@@susancone1787 we went with the standard wheel too and are glad we did. I've seen the black wheels scratched up on the edges and it's not a good look.
@@Carol_Chenot I saw that too on the one I test drove yesterday. The black wheels looked terrible due to scratches. Plus the silver is like getting 2 wheels in 1. You can take the cap off or leave it.
Picked up our 7 seat MY LR a few days ago and wanted to thank you for your videos. Very educational! Specially for someone like me... picked up car (3hr drive) 2 days ago after just 3 days after confirming order and not knowing about anything Tesla 3 weeks prior. Just lucked out on inventory being exactly what we wanted.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy yeah bro. I figured I'll order the model Y and in a couple years, upgrade to a newer one. Its a win win, Tesla will continue to destroy the ice industry. 👍🏾
Informative video. Thank you for sharing. I do not own a Tesla and I’ve never even been in one. I’ve looked into making a purchase of a Tesla, but there are several things that keeping me from doing this. Number one if there is an issue, the vehicle Has to be sent back to Tesla to be fixed. Going to an aftermarket repair shop and having some repairs done is not possible. All of the automotive information systems that are available to Independent shops don’t have anything for Tesla. Number two is the fact that Insurance is extremely high. I have a perfect score for credit and for driving. I’ve checked with multiple insurance companies and I get the same feedback from them. It’s just too expensive to insure. These cars are extremely expensive to repair, even for minor damage or minor anything . And you’re forced to pay with the Tesla dealership. No space for competition between knowledgeable technicians and independent shops. if you figure in the cost of ownership and the cost of insurance, it actually cost way more to drive one of these cars. And number three, which is completely ridiculous is not having a spare tire in that car. That’s about the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen. There are better options out there that are just as cool. I love Tesla, but for those reasons I won’t buy one.
I think you would be surprised on how much more affordable this car is than your comments suggest. My model Y was actually a few bucks less than our Chrysler Pacifica that we traded in on it back in the day. Cost to repair a high tech car like this can be expensive, but you'd have to get past the warranty on the battery which is 120k miles in the case of our car. I have replaced the tires, and wipers and thats about it, in 65k miles
I just took delivery of my SR+ MSM/Black interior back on 8/20, using your referral code. Thank you for the informative and insightful videos man. I'm still proud of the fact that I no longer have to visit the gas station again for anything other than food! I have yet to take an official road trip in it, but that'll come eventually. I've driven around town so far and I love the excuses I have now to drive.
Has anyone told you that you have a very calming relaxing voice? Love the video btw! I wanted the red model Y so badly but husband said it’s a waste of money. We ended up getting black and I still regret it!
Hi nice job, I am asking around about the Ford about using the EV battery as the house battery? Has Tesla made any comment about making a future offering in the EV range for that? Please comment. K
Awesome videos. Just reserved a Model Y. Delivery ETA is June 2022 (Toronto, Canada). Tow hitch vs tow package, 19” vs 20”. Yes on the white interior and 7 seats.
I was hung up on the 4680 cells...but decided that the current batteries are good enough...and not enough reason for me to wait another 6 months or longer. The wait is already too long...my fingers are crossed that they will figure out the production problems with the 4680s before my car is built, but if it comes with the existing batteries, I am fine with that too.
I feel the same way, but given all the uncertainties, who knows when MYs with 4680s will come out (or if there will be glitches they need to work out during the initial production). Life is short, so I will enjoy my MY when it finally arrives, hopefully by the end of this year. BTG, I agree, I ordered the color inside and out that I have my heart set on (beautiful blue, with stunning white interior), Gemini wheels, no FSD. I’m waiting for FSD to be completely functional by the time my kids take away my car keys, 30 years from now.
MY LR delivery Monday. PPF 3 days later. Mats arrived today. I installed the wall charger at an existing 14-50 myself so I can leave charger in the car. Thanks for all the tips.
This was one of the best videos I've seen yet. You have such a great voice and are truly a wealth of personal knowledge. We have already test driven (and LOVE) the Model Y. Our local electric provider will reimburse us the $500 for the Tesla wall charger and install it for free which is GREAT ! We are in the US and our state also gives an additional EV credit separate from the Federal Tax Credit, people should look for both of those in their area as well. We are only trying to see what the Federal Government is going to do with the new bill (I know I can't hold my breath) since we have a few months still on our current lease. Thank you for taking your time and all of the effort you put into this, and your other videos. Keep up the great work.
I am the Chief of the Police dept that has 5 Tesla Model 3's in Indiana we are getting ready to take delivery of our personal Model Y cant wait it has been a long wait we ordered in June and should be getting it this month Thx for all the doos and donts
Thanks for the info. Great as always. One piece of protection that I did was to put a piece of 4 in. wide and about 6 in. long section of hook material next to the accelerator. My foot always seems to rest against the side and wear out the carpeting.
We are taking delivery of our LR Model Y in red with black interior on September 22nd, we are so excited. Last night we finished ordering most of the accessories that we need. When our sales associate called from Tesla to go over what we ordered, we decided to go ahead and add FSD.
Also pro tip for the car seats, you can purchase custom seat covers for $200-$400. You save the extra $700, can customize the color (red is a fav), you also protect the original seats from wear and tear. I personally still regret not purchasing the white interior, but luckily it's only a temporary lease.
Couldn't agree more. I paid a company to install the 8 mm film on the entire front of my car - highly recommend that. Verify the warranty on the film that comes with. I did learn I need to add the Q2 Shield for my white seats - so thanks for that! I also installed a regular outlet vs. the Tesla branded charger - saved quite a bit there.
I like this guys voice.. it’s so calming. If there is ever a zombie apocalypse, I’ll look him up so I can hear him say “it’s cool, everything will be alright.. go get in your Tesla .. it’s just a zombie.. you got this..”
I do a long haul every day, I have it, never use it. It wants to hop on and off HOV lanes, Drives me crazy wanting to change lanes to pass. Standard autopilot works fine for me without the hassles FSD presents.
As an add on comment from my message below: I called the ceramic film company listed in your links and they said if you add the ceramic film after you have a paint chip or blemish the coating with actually highlight the blemish. You really do need to do this when you first purchase the car.
Just changed my Model Y order from default to red paint and white interior yesterday. Hopefully it won’t cause any further delays, but I think it’ll be worth it. Also, good advice about ordering a second set of wheels to switch out.
Really liked your video. I ordered my first Tesla model Y and all the things I was debating white interior , 7th row etc., I now feel at ease with. Thank you! So excited and you are right those white seats are gorgeous.
Only regret is not getting the white interior. My wife convinced me that it would get too dirty especially with blue jeans. But I love the midnight grey/silver exterior and was sure I wasn't getting white from the start. As for the wheels, I took off the hub caps and installed the nut caps and center cap. The original wheels look great without the hub caps.
If you search there option for seat cover looks and feel like Tesla seat. I got black Interior on my MY then bought white cover and I love it. you have to look at the door panel to know that I do not have original white seat from tesla because mine is still Black.
Again, you are the best. Número #1. I placed my ordered on the Y Long range and 3 Long Range model on Wednesday after I saw your UA-cam news on the prices. I am going to listen to you one more time. I added the induction wheels on both models. I will change it to the Gemini wheels. I live in NY upstate and I commute to the city every day. By having two sets of wheels will be beneficial. Thankkkkkkkk you
Now you’ve got me thinking about changing the paint color from blue to red for the MY that’s due next month. I wonder how that will affect the arrival date?
Personal experience, went Monday thinking about changing MY LR from white to blue, $1000 for paint n $1000 for price increase, lol, I love white even more than I previously did 😜
I’ve got a 22 Model Y Performance ordered that should be here in February, and I love a dark colored car, but can’t deal with another black vehicle (scratches and dirt are way too visible), so I went with the gray exterior now that it’s free. I also think the white interior looks great, but I decided to go with black because the puppy I’m getting is black, and I also have dark-colored backpacks and other items that I’ll typically have in my vehicle that the white seats would make much more visible-even through tint. These videos have been super helpful, especially explaining range and charging! Thanks!
Interesting that you mention the 7 seater, third row for children in booster seats or car seats @6:08. We were told by the Tesla rep in the showroom not too long ago that the third row was NOT for children but only for adults. We really wanted the 7 seater configuration for our family but were discouraged by the Tesla rep for this reason. In our family, it would not have made sense to have the taller adults sitting in that uncomfortable third row while the children in car seats would be in the more ample second row.
Great video - thanks for posting. I think there are three further considerations to take into account on some of these recommendations however. 1) I agree that given the relatively small premium charges involved, order the exterior and interior color you really want. However don't ignore the fact some colors such as red, dark blue and black in particular are much more difficult to maintain and are susceptible to degradation over time from sun and road debris. So also take into account what the car will look like in 3-5 years. Same goes for the interior - whereas white may be easily cleaned while new as many recent Tesla owners have attested to, every 5+ year old car with white interior that I have seen looks dull if not outright ratty - as white is bound to fade, absorb dirt and lose it's brightness over time compared to black. 2) The 3rd row seats not only cost a premium, but if there are any safety concerns due to proximity to the rear glass, or if you need to purchase special child seats because of the geometry, I would be very cautious about paying for such limitations and letting children ride there. The Model Y is sized a bit too small for 3 rows IMHO. 3) Finally, with regard to purchasing a Tesla Wall Connector, I knew I would always want to drive with the travel charger in the car, as I didn't want to have to remove it from my trunk / frunk every time I want to charge in my garage - which is essentially every day. Therefore it was a foregone conclusion that I would need to either purchase a second Mobile Connector or a Tesla Wall Connector anyway, and the price difference ($200) isn't all that much to have a nicer, more convenient permanent installation in my garage. Given the labor cost of installing a NEMA 14-50 is the same as installing the Wall Connector, I opted for the latter as the total price difference became immaterial.
Thank you for the information. My husband and I were on the fence about some of the options so really liked how you described the pros and cons of each. Much appreciated!
Just waiting for my VIN and delivery date. As of right now (and the past few weeks) it has been saying September 16th - 30th. I ordered on July 16th. I am eagerly awaiting to hear about a firm delivery date!
@@shelbysimmons8041 That sounds lovely! I know, the wait is sooo wild. I drive past their lot where they store the cars as they come in and I'm just like, "one of you are mine!" Haha
When I ordered my model 3 LR in December 2021 I immediately put it on hold waiting for the rebate to be approved. At least I’m price protected for the 1 K increase. Now still on hold and no hurry to take delivery as I have a low mileage 2019 Volt. Will wait till early 2023 to see what if anything the government does ?
Well, BTG, although I was adamant that including FSD in my MYLR order made sense because I commute 80 miles/day, I finally canceled FSD because the added cost would increase my initial sales tax and car registration costs due to the increased base value of the car. I'm glad there is now a subscription option and will definitely check it out once my car is delivered. I also made two other changes after ordering. I added a tow hitch (1 day post order), then I changed from blue to red (5 days post order) because... it's gorgeous! I'd already chosen white interior and Gemini's so now all I need is the car itself! It can't arrive soon enough!
We ordered our MYLR in November and our delivery date was June 2022 but we got a call from the Tesla advisor they had a car available the same specs that we ordered but it had a tow hitch on it. So we are getting our car this week. Black with white interior and induction wheels with the tow hitch ….I’m so juiced. 6 months early 😃
I'm with you brother, I have my model y lr and the amount of bugs and stuff is insane!! I have been washing the car off but had to stop since I was using too much water lol. Going to look into this films to protect her, so thanks for sharing this!! I am available if you ever need it!! Blessings to the family.
Great video. With one exception. I'm retired and I don't take long trips. I currently have a Chevy Bolt with about a 240 mile range. I have never had to charge any place but home. I do have a standard range model 3 on order that should be here next month. So in my case spending $10,000 extra would not be a wise choice. If I did decide to go farther then my 263 range I can get it charged at a charging site. Keep posting your excellent videos.
We just bought our 2021 black on black model Y with a mere 168km. Great deal on it! Absolutely love it! Love the safe pet mode feature! Very excited about this car!
really useful information, thank you. We did wrapped the front after highway driving in the first few weeks left quite a bit of damage, mostly from open back trucks that carry earthmoving tractors. We have laws requiring them to coverup but there's always an idiot that doesn't want to comply.
Great video, I wish it had been out when we purchased in early 2021! However we were 8 outa 10😀 We went in not considering the 3rd row and then after seeing it in the showroom it was a no-brainer if you've got the extra $2k (it gives you options). We gave up the induction wheels to get the 3rd row and simply took off the plastic wheel covers, it looks great IMO and you don't lose more than 10-20 miles of range. The 2 things we didn't follow were 1.) We went full auto-pilot (still on the fence, but hoping for more updates) 2. We didn't put the protective film on the front of the car which is a GREAT suggestion!! Now we have 9,400 miles on the car but not too many blemishes from the road. Do you think it would be ok to put the film on now? I'm very handy, but I'm concerned any blemish will show under the protective film.
I thought you can buy the SRMY off menu? Also, I would say don't wait to buy your Tesla. They are holding value really well and you can always go upgrade, just like you did.
I took delivery about a month ago. Got white interior and 7 passenger configuration. I have some young grandchildren that helped that decision. The 3D maxpider mats are on a long back order, so I gotta wait. I had followed a lot of what you recommended. Two exceptions. Nothing against PPF. I’m not the kind of person that PPF would benefit. I’m not doing it myself and to have it done is not worth the cost, for me. By the time I get 2 or 3 dings or scratches, I don’t care anymore. Lol! I’m on the fence with ceramic coating vs wax. The other exception is I got the wall charger. I agree with your recommendation for the outlet, it’s just that I wanted it. 🤷🏽♂️ I really enjoy your UA-cam channel. Keep it coming!
Good for you guys! The PPF thing is crazy. PPF is soooo expensive and if I wasn't able to do myself, I'd also live with it because I am not about to spend that kind of money to have it done.
Good video! free with you on enhanced AP (I have it in my M3) BUT - phantom braking is a real menace, and frankly makes the current version of EAP unsafe in my opinion. I had it happen twice on a recent 5 hour highway trip, both times with no cars in front of me but large semi's right behind me. NOT good. Until Tesla resolves this, I won't use it - its just too dangerous.
Incredibly annoying. I don’t get how they can fail with such a basic thing as adaptive cruise control when this stuff has been out on the market since 2014 or even before. I don’t even use EAP, but if there are no lines on a road it will brake like crazy if a car comes from the opposite field. I did the same road with an Enyaq - no problem. Considering how much we spent on our S I feel ripped off.
Subscribed! Thank you for the super useful & comprehensive video. Given the lineup of major events in the coming few months (Tax incentives, 4680 + Single Casting body, Possible increase in Self Driving Package), when do you think is the right time to reserve a Model Y LR ? The current estimated delivery window is April as of this day.
The first thing I did when I bought my model Y, was get it wrapped. I bought the car in white and got it wrapped for $4,000 us. The guy that did the wrap said it would have been easier in Black so if you don't mind an additional thousand dollars that you won't even use it will make the wrapping job easier and there won't be any white poking through around whatever color you picked-- I have a couple tiny spots where that happens near door handles where it was hard for him to put the wrap. The primary advantage is that you get to have your Tesla in whatever color you want including the cool one that looks different from each angle. I saw a Tesla in lime green recently that was really beautiful. Also, it allows you to protect the car without spending extra on the clear coat wrap.
I love your Model Y videos . I would love to see your channel grow even more . Good luck with it . 👍 This video is directly pointed to me . I was one of the early adopters . Everytime i see other Tesla’s it always comes up in my mind that I wish I had chosen that color & wish I had chosen the white interior & inductions wheels . 😀😀 But you made great points based on your experiences. 👌👌 I’m thinking to sell my car now & ordering new one with the correct choices the time around 😀. I have very low mileage. I need your tips . Where should I start to list for a quick sale . ? Thank you in advance . 🙏🏻
To do the full front, front fenders, bumper, hood with the protective film in CA it is $1500.00. I am waiting for my Y ordered it 10-4-21 and they keep moving the delivery dates on the Tesla app a month earlier than a month later. White Pearl with white interior. I will be going from delivery down the street to have the film put on and driver and passenger windows tinted. Then all the accessories. Since I placed my order the car went up $5,000 and delivery is in late fall 2022.
We ordered our MYLR 7 seater in Oct and expect delivery in March/April. Not going to worry about the 4680. Since I'm in California, I expect our MY will be built in Fremont. I do want to do the XPEL front kit. I've DIY window tinting before but never PPF. It'll be interesting to try and do this myself. Going to have an electrician install a NEMA 15-40 outlet but we're restricted to 40 amps due to my subpanel being maxed out. So it'll be 29 MPH charging rate at 28 amps, which is ok since we'll be leaving it connected all night long. Definitely going to apply SIO2 to the interior and over the PPF and the remainder of the vehicle.
Great video! The only advice I didn’t take was getting the induction wheels. I ordered them with my Model Y because they just looked too good and I really didn’t like the geminis. Its worth noting (I’m not sure if prices have changed) but I did look for either an aftermarket set that looked just as good as the inductions or a like new set of inductions…both were coming out to about $4,000. So I paid the $2,000 for the induction upgrade and if needed I can get a set of Geminis for about $2,000. The way I see it in todays market I’m spending $4,000 either way. But ill be honest, I dont see myself getting the Geminis.
@@JohnSmith-yg8jk yes, the more expensive inductions do get less range. Tesla states they get 12 miles less range per charge. So you are trading looks for a small amount of efficiency. However now that I own them. I would 100% buy them again. They look amazing. I really didn’t like the look of the geminis.
Well, it is easy for me to find almost new induction wheels (with tires) at 2000$ on eBay. It is all personal preference but paying a similar amount of money for both would be much more valuable.. I would keep Geminis as backup tires just in case I have a problem with induction wheel tires or if I plan on a long trip as the Beared Tesla guy said.
Took delivery of MY LR in August in SoCal. No PPF as I did not see a reason for it in this area. The weather is great with the winter only getting to high 40 on the coldest days. I did apply a graphene ceramic coat to the entire vehicle to make it easier to wash it.
I agree with you. I just ordered mine yesterday exactly the way I wanted it LR in blue with white interior and induction wheels, even added towing which I might only use for a bike rack, but at least I won't have to deal with installing it later. I used your referral code, so thanks!
We ordered tow hitch with our Y, for our bike rack, but never found the size of the receptor..1. 5 or 2 inch? Sadly, we ordered 1st weekend of September and we might get it in December...🤤
Thanks for the excellent advices. Will definitely subscribe to the channel to learn more about owning a Tesla. I’m starting to do my research before deciding on which configuration of the Model Y I’ll order for delivery here in Thailand. Unfortunately, the extra seats configuration is not possible in Thailand😢, which would have been really handy with kids in our household.
I have FSD on my 2019 M3. The only feature that is truly useful for everyday driving is auto lane change. I did not want to pay $10k to add it to my MY, but after 3 months I can say driving without it is a real pain. Every time you change lanes the car drops out of auto-steer...with that "jerk" you feel as the car returns steering control to the driver. It makes for a somewhat unpleasant ride and gives passengers a very poor impression of the car (almost as bad as phantom braking at 70mph). I can handle stop signs. I can handle red lights. I can park myself. I'll never put a car into a driverless Uber fleet. But please, sell me auto lane change now at a reasonable price!
EAP has been available in Europe for about half a year by now. Although I don't drive enough on highways to justify $4k for auto-lane change. Also, I don't feel like the jerk is noticeable so long as you put on the indicator before you do a lane change. The biggest nuisance is the sounds dings. I've learned to ignore them, but I often wish I could turn them off. But that is minor compared to the far too frequent false positives in emergency braking for things it shouldn't. I always get really tense when it puts an unwarranted alarm out of nowhere at really high volume. I'd estimate it happens every 10th city mile or 100th rural mile. I know AP is only intended for highways but I still like to use it or TACC.
If you need to change lanes while in autopilot and want to avoid the "jerk" of taking over control of the steering wheel you can disengage autopilot by tapping up, so reverse, on the stock and it disengages basic AP
@@kelvinmaldonado7547 With that method, it's worth mentioning you also need to either have regen set to low (if that setting still exists) or get ready to use the accelerator to avoid braking
…Writing to you from Europe. I clearly remember that before the last OTA update, while in autopilot, as soon as you touched the lane change lever, the car disabled autopilot, which meant no ‘jerk’ of the steering wheel. I’m not sure if that was an official function of the car or not, but that’s gone now :(. Now I do the same as mentioned here. I disable autopilot first while keeping my foot on the gas, hoping to get a ‘smooth transition’, while prepared to answer any questions from the passengers who just got ‘awaken’ by the sudden behavior change of the car…definitely not something you would expect from a luxury and very expensive car :(
I am shopping around for a new car for the past few months and watching a lot video. 1 thing a lot of Tesla videos always suggest paint protection. Why? Is the paint quality on the Tesla that bad?
Order my Tesla Model Y performance about three weeks ago..estimated deliver is by the end of this month…going to be taking a lot of your suggestions into consideration… a shop quailed me $5500 for a full PPF install using xpel I’ll be documenting everything on my channel, excited for it to come in!
It really was an insightful video Thank you ! I am considering buying a Model 3 LR in Tokyo as they have reduced the price by 24%, so wondering if it is worth buying, driving for 3 years, and then shipping it to the UK to sell and basically get my money back? I wonder if the configuration is any different from Japanese Tesla to UK Tesla?
I'm taking delivery in October, model Y long range 7 seater, full self driving, Gemini wheels, color blue. Thanks for floor mat link and I got the white interior.
@@BeardedTeslaGuy I've kept track of what you've been saying and exploring with your model Y's on your road trips, there was a few other ppl that had great content, as well. I'm definitely pumped I ordered it in early July.

Well what happened?
I just got a standard range model y with the LFP battery and it is a sick 100% charging battery
Stay safe!
Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone. Cheers
I changed my order to add the 3rd row, I never knew this affected the 2nd row- super helpful!
I know! It’s actually super versatile
Great advice. I appreciate how it is presented as “best for me” or “best for most people” and acknowledging that some people may be better served by different choices. By stating the reasoning behind the recommendations, we can decide what is going to be best for us. It is good to hear a clam voice of reason and useful information.
Cheers
The Xpel material was cut excellent with less stretching and more forgiving to work with
Good advice, thank you!
You have the best Model Y videos on YT. Ordered my Model Y config based on your recommendations AND some of the accessories, Cheers!
Thanks so much!!
Good points thanks for sharing
For today, enjoy the elegance and performance of the Tesla wall connector.
thank you we just bought a model 3 so much to get used to ... learn...thank you about the bumper protection
Glad I could help
So awesome, congrats on the new ride
We just got a m3p and have 3 kids but one being 12 and other 2 in boosters we found the cosco booster seats fit best.

Excellent video, you did not waste a lot of air talking about nonsense stuff, thank you.. You just stated the facts, Looking to purchase a Model Y next year. Wife picked up her model 3 in June 2021, she loves it.
They are truly amazing cars
This was the best video for Model Y I have seen covering the optional 7-seat configuration vs not. +1 from me.
Thanks so much!
Thanks so much
Great video BTG! We bit the bullet for red with white interior ... never looked back. The white makes the car so "bright" to drive. It's a mood lifter for sure!

That's my build too and I think I'll go with the standard wheel.
@@susancone1787 we went with the standard wheel too and are glad we did. I've seen the black wheels scratched up on the edges and it's not a good look.

Hi nice job, I am asking around about the Ford about using the EV battery as the house battery?
Has Tesla made any comment about making a future offering in the EV range for that?
Please comment. K
They have not mentioned it but a lot of EV's seem to be moving in that direction.
Awesome videos. Just reserved a Model Y. Delivery ETA is June 2022 (Toronto, Canada). Tow hitch vs tow package, 19” vs 20”. Yes on the white interior and 7 seats.
Congrats!
Yea, it’s so hard to figure out how long it would likely be. Until it’s up and running, no way to know
I feel the same way, but given all the uncertainties, who knows when MYs with 4680s will come out (or if there will be glitches they need to work out during the initial production).

"In about two weeks the beta FSD will be released to the public..."
That was a good one!!!
Haha
I chuckled as well. Just today Elon updated it to 3 weeks for 10.1, which we probably won't get right away anyways :(
We are taking delivery of our LR Model Y in red with black interior on September 22nd, we are so excited. Last night we finished ordering most of the accessories that we need. When our sales associate called from Tesla to go over what we ordered, we decided to go ahead and add FSD.
Good for you guys! It should be here right around the time FSD Beta is released to public, so good timing!
Also pro tip for the car seats, you can purchase custom seat covers for $200-$400. You save the extra $700, can customize the color (red is a fav), you also protect the original seats from wear and tear. I personally still regret not purchasing the white interior, but luckily it's only a temporary lease.
Good tip
Excellent advise. I just ordered my Tesla Y and will go for White Seats, which we were scared of maintenance.

As an add on comment from my message below: I called the ceramic film company listed in your links and they said if you add the ceramic film after you have a paint chip or blemish the coating with actually highlight the blemish. You really do need to do this when you first purchase the car.
Always best to apply PPF at the very beginning. But, if its too late for that, some touchup paint can be used to fill in chips before applying PPF.

@@mantajim2269 OMG. That’s right. All the price hikes! Blue is good. I’m buying it for Turo anyhow. The next one can be red.
Thanks!

That's the configuration I want too, but I'll wait for giga Berlin and the new batteries and 22 model.
That’s crazy. Sometimes I can’t believe the things service advisors say
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for the video just changed our order to the white interior.
Awesome! You are going to love those white seats!

Never too late to protect the front of the car. Congrats on you car by the way!
Thank you 🙏 I’m going for the white interior on my new 2022 Model 3 LR
Nice choice! Congrats!
I thought you can buy the SRMY off menu?
Also, I would say don't wait to buy your Tesla. They are holding value really well and you can always go upgrade, just like you did.
I personally wouldn’t wait either but I get why some do. SR off menu was a limited time thing. They are done for some time now
I took delivery about a month ago.
I really enjoy your UA-cam channel.
This does need to be a thing of the past
Incredibly annoying. I don’t get how they can fail with such a basic thing as adaptive cruise control when this stuff has been out on the market since 2014 or even before. I don’t even use EAP, but if there are no lines on a road it will brake like crazy if a car comes from the opposite field.
I did the same road with an Enyaq - no problem. Considering how much we spent on our S I feel ripped off.
Dude. Seriously. Phantom braking is a HORROR. It really gets the old heart rate up on my drives to LA, for sure.
Thanks. Am meeting the sales team for Model Y and this is very helpful.
Cheers
Fantastic commentary. Thank you for going over the business end as well as the scheduled battery enhancements.
Cheers
Well done ! Like your tone, attitude and great common sense keep up the good work.
Thanks a bunch! Cheers
Where is the link for the PPF? Thank you so much, and as always, your videos are spot on!
In the description is the link
Thanks! I have been thinking to get a model 3 Tesla! You were very very helpful
Glad I could help!
Your eyes are so pretty! I just ordered my model y and I’m so excited.
Haha well congrats!
Thankyou for the i formation. I have ordered Model Y and waiting. Thinking about PPF as it is expensive.
Yea, make sure you really think about it because it is NOT cheap at all. If you have it in you, DIY can save you a ton. Congrats on your Y!
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Going with full front ppf ! Thankyou again.
I’d reserve right now lol. Delivery isnt estimated until April with a current order
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Glad I took your advice, I saved 2K! Also, thank you for addressing the Tax incentives/4680/casting question on the latest video!
Good advice thanks for sharing
I used Cargurus to sell mine. You can also use Facebook marketplace for locals!
@@BeardedTeslaGuy Thank you. I will do that.

That’s a good deal for a true full frontal
Love FSD and my wall charger no regrets. Great content BTG.
That’s good! And don’t let anyone tell you different! We are finally going to get a wall connector now that we will have 2 Tesla’s
@@BeardedTeslaGuy loving your video, and thank you. How many wall connectors do you need if you are planning to charge two Teslas?
We ordered our MYLR 7 seater in Oct and expect delivery in March/April. Not going to worry about the 4680. Since I'm in California, I expect our MY will be built in Fremont. I do want to do the XPEL front kit. I've DIY window tinting before but never PPF. It'll be interesting to try and do this myself. Going to have an electrician install a NEMA 15-40 outlet but we're restricted to 40 amps due to my subpanel being maxed out. So it'll be 29 MPH charging rate at 28 amps, which is ok since we'll be leaving it connected all night long. Definitely going to apply SIO2 to the interior and over the PPF and the remainder of the vehicle.
nice
Fair point you have
Do you get a better 'mpg' with one vs the other? Wheels create a lot of drag, the fuller (more aerodynamic) the better
@@SWS1290 not out here, I tried to find inductions and they are like gold because everyone with urberturbines is after them in colder climates.
Took delivery of MY LR in August in SoCal. No PPF as I did not see a reason for it in this area. The weather is great with the winter only getting to high 40 on the coldest days. I did apply a graphene ceramic coat to the entire vehicle to make it easier to wash it.
Congrats
I agree with you. I just ordered mine yesterday exactly the way I wanted it LR in blue with white interior and induction wheels, even added towing which I might only use for a bike rack, but at least I won't have to deal with installing it later. I used your referral code, so thanks!
So awesome congrats and thanks for supporting the channel
We ordered tow hitch with our Y, for our bike rack, but never found the size of the receptor..1. 5 or 2 inch? Sadly, we ordered 1st weekend of September and we might get it in December...🤤
Thanks for the excellent advices. Will definitely subscribe to the channel to learn more about owning a Tesla. I’m starting to do my research before deciding on which configuration of the Model Y I’ll order for delivery here in Thailand. Unfortunately, the extra seats configuration is not possible in Thailand😢, which would have been really handy with kids in our household.
Yea, the 7 seat option isn't perfect, but man is it convenient to have!
Yea EAP is really what the people want!!
Its because the front bumper on this car is a huge flat painted surface rather than being protected by a massive plastic grill.
Order my Tesla Model Y performance about three weeks ago..estimated deliver is by the end of this month…going to be taking a lot of your suggestions into consideration…
a shop quailed me $5500 for a full PPF install using xpel
I’ll be documenting everything on my channel, excited for it to come in!
So awesome, congrats! If you are handy, you can save a ton of money on PPF!
@@BeardedTeslaGuy idk if I'm handy enough to tackle a PPF instal
Please tell me more about the newer more powerful batteries?
battery pack has new chemistry enhancements that increase density bringing the pack up about 5 kWh.
Nope, same car and made in the same factory, at least for now
I'm taking delivery in October, model Y long range 7 seater, full self driving, Gemini wheels, color blue. Thanks for floor mat link and I got the white interior.
Sounds like you are getting one good looking configuration
@@BeardedTeslaGuy I've kept track of what you've been saying and exploring with your model Y's on your road trips, there was a few other ppl that had great content, as well.
I'm definitely pumped I ordered it in early July.
