There is another shop in Oregon that does this. We need more of these kinds of businesses. They do more than just leafs and old toyotas. They actually work on everything like Teslas
Okay, this is exactly what the industry needs! Prospective owners need to know there is an alternative out there as opposed to “factory replacement”. Well done…..thank you.
The EV industry definitely needs more shops like this, as the dealers only follow orders from the manufacturers. It would be cool to see the troubleshooting steps and the actual process of the repairs.
I really enjoyed this video. Great to see an inside look at a new service that we (more recent EV owners) will need going forward. Awesome shop, staff, and owners of Konduit EV for sure. Thanks for putting it all together and looking forward to seeing the MS coolant delete video.
toyota master ev tech here. there is a good handful of these RavEV in the northeast. I have personally replaced the drive unit in a RavEV. It came directly from Tesla, arriving in a Tesla box. The diagnostic software blows, yes. Tesla provided it fully to Toyota.
Actually, I'd like to see more videos about the cost of repairs. The parts and labor pricing. The frequency of maintenance vs gas cars.Who has the beat deals for tires, control arms, springs etc. Let us know the best options for insurance, repairs etc.
There are people and small companies across the country that do this. Some are one-man shops, others are larger. I had my LDU coolant delete done at a small shop just an hour and a half away. You’re probably only a few hours away from a local 3rd party repair shop.
Nice to see 3rd party EV repair shops. Makes sense that they are first appearing in CA. How long before we see them in the midwest, like Chicago area? Got to be many of us Tesla owners who just want to save money on repairs, suspension upgrades, etc. There's a market out there that isn't being addressed.
Exciting-guys who love ev’s-have a deep knowledge of doing repairs-you 3 came together to open this shop!-and or will figure it out-nice to have an option with an out of warranty car. What are some examples of the repairs you have done and how much they costed?
They talk about "coolant delete" like it never needed coolant to begin with. Is that true? If so, why the manufacturer would go to all that extra expense to liquid cool the motor?
It really doesn’t unless you’re driving on a track really hard. I think it was Tesla overbuilding their first in house designed and built drive unit and then waiting for 11 years to fix a flaw that should have been done in 1 or 2 years. Imagine all the LDUs that were replaced under their 8 year unlimited mileage warranty. 🤷♂️Cool thing that QC’s delete manifold does have the ability to convert it to oil cooling if spirited driving is a concern.
I would think they would start seeing Audi Etron soon. It would be nice to put a longer range battery in a 2019 etron because it's such a nice vehicle to drive but needs more range. Also the Etrons could be made more efficient once they are out of warranty with after market modifications as it seems the thermal systems are over active trying to keep the battery in specific ranges of temperature when they could probably work within a wider range of temperatures or maybe just more efficient pumps running the thermals.
These guys should be supported as much as possible. Tesla owners need private shops for service. The dealers, I don't this have the most qualified repair guys. Tesla will tell you they don't make money on service. The 3 Tesla service dealers near me are rude and expensive and could care less.
How can I find out what recommended preventive maintenance there is for my EV? Not what the manufacturer recommends, but what the independents have discovered in the course of their work. I have a 2019 Model S Performance that just turned over 100k miles and I’m wondering what would be smart to have done to it.
I am far from an expert, but I would imagine that if you can get to one of these kinds of shops near you, they can likely give you some recommendations for free. Otherwise, maybe go looking through some forums.
So ... question for you Jordan ,we met at the Ionna event. If a Fisker Ocean required some kind if service would Konduit be able to provide it. Hope you can answer..
We love our Spark EV. It’s got 68,O00 miles. Still serves us well. It hasn’t cost us a cent other than tires, wipers and such. But Chevrolet has abandoned the car so when it needs a repair, we will be out of luck.
@@MrTeff999 I have a 2014 Chevy Spark EV that has close to 80 miles I drive it 5 days a week in my small town of Gig Harbor! Love the 400lb. Ft of torque!
This is nice for California. But for us east coast dwellers, independent EV shops are rare. I just sold a 2012 Leaf with a fresh battery for cheap because I could not get the heater repaired, and a bad sensor in the passenger seat replaced for a reasonable price. Even at the electrified garage.
How does insurance work on an EV workshop, and how far from civilasation must it be located, I would assume about the same rules apply as for explosive factories?
Are there any EV repair shops like this in Denver/Colorado? With how much adoption Colorado has, I'm curious if Denver has good quality EV repair shops.
Who would like to see inside a battery pack fix? This would be a good video for EV owners and dealer repair people. Maybe the fax factor will let the dealer repair person to look at a battery pack to see if it could be repaired.
Should Tesla Model S's or other Teslas routinely get an oil change on their drive units once they hit 95K miles or so or is it okay to just keep driving them as is?

This isn't exactly maintenance, this is repairs, which is different. Regardless, I'm noticing a lot of them are very early models and really old. A lot has changed with how these things are build nowadays, and much fewer problems are popping up on newer models.
These guys did a great job fixing my Mercedes B-Class!
And my Hummer Ev!

So cool! Great job, Jordan!
Omg, that was so cool to watch. Can’t wait for the next one.
Nice to see a video for us owners of aging EVs! My 2018 Model S is nearing 100K miles and I'm starting to think about such needed servicing.
Your videos are always on point, never stop!

It's like "The Neighborhood" show live! LOL... nice, good luck!
Great. The world definitely needs more guys like that. Young guns, get ready for training for EV drivetrains rather than ICE! Nice vid.
Need more of this!
These guys should franchise the operation.
This is helpful in maybe buying a used EV knowing what can go wrong and what's involved in repairing them .

Must be dandy to have such shops. In 9/10ths of the USA these do not exists--yet.
Great info!

Great tour on troubles👍. Only know some Czechs that do this too..
Super mega interesting!!!
My BMW I3 has 193k miles!! Original battery and motor. Runs like a champ still 💪🏽
What’s the battery size and the actual range?
@izgoy-club 22 kwh, right now, it'll go about 55 miles on a full charge. 5 years ago, when I first got it, it went around 80 miles.
@ thanks.

I used to believe the legacy manufacturers on ice cars were required by law to estimate the parts requirements for 10 years.

Electrifying

Any shops around like this that specialize on the Volt? They made a lot more Volts than the RAV4 EV and many dealers no longer service the Volt
They only work on those rav4's because they use Tesla motors and electronics.
@@dpb22 they work on Leafs.
Can isopropyl alcohol be used to flush coolant from the motor wingdings?

Because most petro repair shops think EVs are
a fad and they are waiting for it all to go away.
!
Severely doubt 3 million+ EVs are just going to disappear.
K for kilowatts lol
10:36 10K service on a Nissan Leaf? Nope buy 2 gas cars
These things are worthless. In another year they will be free. Free leases. The EV fad is dead. And I own two and they are worth nothing.
