    The Ford Mustang is the world’s most iconic and popular muscle car, but had never been officially sold in the UK until 2015. Available in full-fat 5.0-litre V8 guise or a more fuel efficient 2.3-litre Ecoboost form, the Mustang has been a hit in the UK. In 2018, however, the 'Stang' received a make-over with new looks, more tech, a new auto gearbox and more power. James Batchelor delivers his verdict.

    Suspension wise, you didn't mention the MagneRide option, Active Exhaust settings (comes as std), heated & cooled seats, or different leather interior colour options.........review needs more polish/balance. Lots of changes on offer compared to the 2016 release, just need to mention them.

    The 2018+ Mustang GT's are under-rated by Ford. They are listed at 460 hp and 420 lb ft but dyno runs are placing the crank horsepower closer to 490-500 hp, and 450-460 trq. 😎

    • @Arcord10
      @Arcord10 5 років тому +2

      It is gonna be less at the wheels though

    • @JCTiggs1
      @JCTiggs1 5 років тому +8

      @@Arcord10 Yes, 490 hp and 460 ft lb at the crank is 425 rwhp and 400 ft rwtrq (at the wheels), with approximately 15% loss from crank numbers to the drivetrain. These numbers are based on the US spec stock 2018+ Mustang GT. The highest rwhp dyno pull I've seen for a stock 18+ GT is 437 rwhp and 405 rwtq. For comparison, a stock 2017 GT on the same dyno pulled 376 rwhp and 350 rwtq. This works out to an extra +72 hp and +53 ft lb at the crank. Quite a big jump in power from the previous model year and well above Ford's advertised 25 hp/20 trq crank numbers. Some say it's to protect the GT350 power numbers, especially the torque, where the GT has much more trq down low vs the GT350 flat plane V8. In the 1/4 mile a 2018+ GT with the 10-spd is actually faster than a GT350, in time and trap speed. Granted this isn't the GT350 strength, but it shows the power and efficiency of the 18+ GT's with the new transmission.

    This seems so bias. He keeps suggesting German cars. You say the boot opening is too high. Why don’t you put the luggage in lengthways so it goes in easier? If you’re gonna do a car review then do a car review, don’t tell me how good other cars are.

  • @mnrobinson13
    @mnrobinson13 5 років тому +41

    What people don't realize is that he's comparing the Mustang quality and feature set with German cars like the S5/A5 or TT that cost much more. Here in the USA the Mustang starts at around $25k I think but there are so many dealer discounts/incentives that you can probably get one for closer to $20k. My fully loaded ecoboost premium convertible was around $35k MSRP yet has more features than a base $50k 430i convertible. To get to a comparable option level, you'd be spending over $60k on a 430i. Even the 2-series has a similar price gap, although to a lesser extent.

    • @daseteam

    • @mnrobinson13
      @mnrobinson13 5 років тому +2

      @@beefbroth6539 the m240i in the UK (looked it up) costs about a grand more than a well specd GT and then you have to put options on that. I think the mustang is closer to the 4 series in size and performance. Here in the US I have a friend who spent $45k on an M240i and it doesn't have half the things (technology, heat and cooled seats, etc) standard that my Mustang does for much cheaper.

This review is a lie because i owned one and i love it with 10 speed automatic mustang gt is freakin fast in straightline..the drag strip mode and sport plus is my favorite mode when it comes to destroy 2018 bmw 750i and m4 or m3 in rolling race.

    I disagree with the notion that you shouldn't care about the Mustang's V8's poor fuel consumption because the V8 is more suited to the car than the 2.3 Ecoboost. Buyers and Ford should remember that the V8 muscle car was built at time when the American dream was very much alive and fuel pricing was relatively low (in the US). As much as the V8 sounds uniquely amazing, i'm sorry but if Ford can't invest money and research into making its V8 more fuel efficient then it has no place in today's less optimistic market. I still love the mustang, but i find it disappointing.

    5:50 We can thank American regulations for this, any European car would just attach the rear lights to the hatch so they get out of the way as well but apparently if you can't drive a car with the trunk open in the US it's unsafe.

    ok so .... when they had the old style mustang people just to criticizes it by saying it need to be more European .........
    in america the mustang is not a big car it may be to you and to all the cars you see over there but here in good U.S of A its a small car for maybe 2 persons max so all your points are based on comparing this car to what a bmw 7 series or what ???
    now that they have a more european style mustang people say they look more european than american and now they want a more muscular style wtf🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
    oh and by the way they did upgrade the interior "plastics" but oh well .... what can we expect from a european reviewing an american vehicle like did you actually did your homework and gather all the major upgrades in the car or you just giving your opinion as you go and what you see with your eyes.
    oh and lastly tell me one german car that you can buy new from a dealership for less than 35k euros with more than 450hp i'll wait here.

    Why is it higher quality in the us? I don’t get it. My uncles is soft everywhere you’d think they’d want the Europeans who are picky about that to also have that. Considering that ford usually makes the euro specs better than the American on all their cars

      They do! Cuz I put my hands on a Mercedes and was not impressed. My grandmas keep had more soft materials and better held together components than my friends’ parents new Mercedes was. Cheap plastic in some areas and a flimsy grab handle. But it is true that ford has made Some global versions subpar. Like when the global focus came out the us version wasn’t as high quality. And when they put the Ford Fusion (Mondeo) to Europe the dash was still soft touch but harder.

  • @bonzobanana1

    Surely has to be the 5 litre with a manual box even if the smaller engine was more fuel efficient and the automatic worked well. The Ford factories of Europe produce far better quality cars than Ford of the USA so if you are buying a Mustang you'd want to keep it simple surely. I can imagine the automatic gear box being a huge source of problems especially if it has 10 gears. Gorgeous looking car although I'd have to have red I think.

    • @1989rs500
      @1989rs500 5 років тому

      I think this review just too critical, see I ve driven the new Mustang with 10 Speed in Spain and what I felt was that, its a great gearbox, sure its not dual clutch fast, but for a torque converter it did really well, and made the Mustang far far more faster car than the Manual,, I challenge U and carbuyer to do a drag race and a roll on race and an mpg loop test for Manual vs Auto, the Auto destroys the Manual, so if I were to buy a Mustang, I wud get an AT, not manual, over the extra fun Manual offers, because AT is faster, easier to drive, more efficient,

      @@1989rs500 Yes, the new 10R80 is an amazing transmission. The shifts are incredible fast and it gets through the 1/4 mile in the high 11's at over 118 mph. The 6 speed manual is 0.5s behind and 5 mph slower. Not too mention there are a ton of issues with the new manual transmission and the weak shift forks. I've been a manual guy my whole life but this auto is the proper transmission for this car (at least until Ford gets their act together and puts the GT350 6 spd manual in the GT).
