This is the best "real world" review of the mustang on the internet so well done. It's interesting to read that when Ford Australia initially pitched for the Mustang they were given an allocation of 1000 units by Ford HQ which was over what Ford Australia thought they could sell. Some execs were worried that they would only shift 500 or so units in the whole model life. 5 years later they have passed 26,000 units. I had my first drive of a mustang a few weeks ago and was seriously impressed. It's not an M3/M4, it's a different beast and pitched perfectly at the market segment it's aimed for. Its fast enough, sounds great, looks great. It's special enough for the average bloke (and increasingly females ) to feel a real sense of achievement and pride in owning one without breaking the bank. It can be modded by people with OCMS (obsessive compulsive modification syndrome) or left bone stock. Either way it performs it's intended function of bringing a smile to the owners face. That's the whole point of owning a car like that.........innit.
Surprisingly in the states the sentiment is similar. You dont feel super special with a mustang but if you are younger and been working hard and treat yourself to a mustang it always feels well worth it.
@@chevalier_noir you have to compare to its competitors though. You’re looking at £60,000 for an equivalent power BMW, more for an equivalent powered Mercedes here in the UK. For something that sounds as good, looks good and has a lot of go it’s a bargain compared to its competitors. I know the Australian economy is different to the UK, cost of living is 40% higher but I’m sure the general comparison still works
It’s honestly humbling to see this car so well received across the pond. It makes owning one that much better. I wish I could ship mine to the UK and open it up on those beautiful country roads. Cool fact: the start button blinks at the same rate as the resting heartbeat rate of an actual Mustang Horse.
@kiknchiknstudios8901 You're not missing anything - I wish that I could ship mine to the US to open it up on those long desert highways! Our UK roads are not spacious enough to enjoy it to its full potential.
It's so funny that you didn't know that the southeast has the best roads in the world and that the guy who replied thinks that desert highways are a popular thing in the USA.
@@ShadowAdministrator depending on where you live in America you can get all kinds of different experiences in Texas it’s nothing but long roads for a v8 to eat up
@@cbecks2051 Still living in the 1980's I see, nice one. I've seen one of these on a track day and it was on par with a 997 carrera bone stock so your comments are dumb
I just bought a new RHD Mustang in the UK. Unlike many main dealers, Ford's will happily add various after-market modifications so I opted for front parking sensors, sports clutch spring, short gear shift and x-pipe resonator delete all of which I think were sensibly priced. The car is now returning for ARH long-tube high flow headers (that will amplify exhaust sound and power). This is a fun car drive and if you have children, at least two of them will comfortably sit in the rear so it is an immensely practical car to drive.
These mustang's are a cool car regardless of interior, very affordable means you get more bang for the buck, and does stand out more compared to European cars of the same power, even if it's not as good to drive the b roads.
Just a cretin. Id never have one but would get the proper engine. If hes got an ecoboost whats that surely the focus rs engine to offer something approaching performance.
After reading through the comments, I realized how luckily we are in America. Couldn’t imagine paying how much a Mustang costs overseas. Hell, even a classic 60’s Mustang can be bought for $24k here in the States.
@@coopsnz1 The premium package is still extra, tho it is a bit different from the US one. In europe we always have the SYNC system with the big screen. Premium Package pre facelift was just better (fake) leather, cooled seating (or recaro bucket seats without heated/cooled seating) and more speakers, a subwoofer and different wheels. But overall you're right, the Australia & EU models are standardly better equiped and the price "difference" isn't really there after taxes and extras you'd pick anyways.
i’m 15 and my dream car is a 2017 mustang and being the uk i don’t really see too many but when i’ve been up close i cried out of joy😂😂 can’t wait to own one🥹
So true that cars start conversations and ignite a passion in people. I've met so many people from them coming up to me to talk genuinely with interest about my cars. Some have become valued friendships. For that, the cars that started those conversations were all a worthwhile investment!
I'm an ex-pat Brit living in Colorado, and I'm currently on my fourth Mustang, a 460 bhp 2018 GT. And I love it. It does not have the quality interior of a German car, but it is still a nice place to be. Would i recommend one? Without any hesitation whatsoever!
I am an American born American and I too love Mustangs. I am currently driving my 4th Mustang, a 2018 GT350R. I have 3 GT’s before their Shelby. Mustangs do NOT have the interior quality of the German Big 4. But then again, they are 2/3- 1/2 the price depending on your spec of German car. The current GT can hang with the M3 and the C63 and the RS5 and the Cayman S. and the Shelby GT350R can beat them all…not to mention, Mustangs have always sounded the business and boy do they look good! Give me a 6 speed 460 HP Mustang GT or my 6 speed 526 HP Shelby any day over the Big 4 from Germany I chops
No thumbs up tractor driver M4. Couldn’t be summed up better. This. This. This. What a piece of brute America. Un-nice interior below par ride or not. That sound. That black over black menace. It’s fab.
I saw a 2018 Ford Mustang in Yellow on my way to College. I live in Yorkshire so seeing flashy cars isn't something we see on a daily basis. So seeing a Mustang on the roads of Yorkshire really did make my day.
Really? I would argue that you’ll see more flashy cars in Yorkshire than other parts of the uk. Really depends what part though. North and West Yorkshire have some of the best cars I’ve seen in the country. I believe 2 of the only rhd trackhawks in the uk are in West Yorkshire. Seen a few challenger hellcats up here too and a jeep set North Yorkshire is an entirely different animal. Go to Harrogate or York and you’ll spot at least 5 supercars in a day easy. Seen a Porsche 911 carrera 4s and 3 lambo urus in the past 2 days Loads of rolls Royce up here too and plenty and I mean PLENTY of mustangs especially in Harrogate they love em over there.
There are a number of appeals for the Mustang in the UK. A decent sound/throb, it looks good, RH drive, relatively spacey, selection of engines, decent price (more bang for the buck), Ford is a familiar, trusted and established brand and it comes with a MANUAL box, making it a drivers car, not just a poser or commuter slog.
I was so damn excited to pay extra for driving a Mustang cabriolet when I went to LA. But then EVERYONE was driving a Mustang! I still have a picture of the parking at Universal Studios where a third of the rentals were Mustangs. And indeed, that did take the glamour away... As for prices... here in Holland a V8 costs €110000, the 4 cylinder €75000. There’s a lot of other nice stuff you can buy for that money. Like 3 to 4 Ford Transits...
On mobile.de you can find new v8 for 46290 euros from Germany, i don't know how big is your country import tax but im pretty confident it would still cost less than buying the 4cyl in Holland.
@@tim1polman you are right, in my opinion the emission laws are getting tighter and tighter not because politicians care so much about the enviroment, car manifactures are lobbying about this (they don't care if they kill their iconic engines and car culture). Many car companies are seeing declining in sales and need new standards so they could be profitable, if you see world wide for 2019 only Kia/Hyundai and Toyota made some profit other manufacturers are going down. When they force us to go electric their cars sales will go up to the cealing at least the first 10-15 years.
I've got a 2018 Mustang GT myself and I think Jay hit the nail on the head again here. The interior is incredibly cheap and it built about as well as a crisp packet but it has so much character and theatre about it. Everyone seems to love it! Although the reliability has been a mixed bag, it's been to Ford several times for various leaks and rattles. Still, very nice to have in the little collection.
If you compare the interior to its contemporaries (Camaro, Challenger), I don't know about quality, but I think the interior is so much more stylish than those cars (and I love the Challenger).
I had, in my youth, a brand new 1966 2+2 Mustang with the 'hi-po' 289 engine and 4sp stick. I paid about $2600 for it out the door, and loved it for a couple yrs. before I had to move to an uncertain job 2000 miles away and decided to give it to my Mom and just keep my motorcycle for my new life in CA. I wish I had it now, cause it would be worth about the same $ as the one you were driving here. I've had the pleasure to drive a friends ecoboost 2.3 with Mountune upgrades and must say "that" is the version I'd buy if I were buying a newer one. The feel of the more balanced weight dist. with the same power as the V8, makes it feel much more nimble, not to mention the fuel economy. It's not as important to me these days to make lots of noise, even on my MC.
Hearing what you old heads paid back in the day makes me envious. Also the Mountune upgrades would give the ecoboost 150hp? That's about the difference between the two stock, of course.
10:10 Exactly! Watching here from the U.S.A. and I feel you have done a great job characterizing the attitude on both sides of the "pond". The Shelby GT 350, GT350R and GT500 are highly respected, and don't have to stand in the shadow of any BMW. I run the Chevrolet SS (Vauxhall VXR8) so I can appreciate the attraction of a V8 powered muscle car whether it is from Ford, Chevrolet or Dodge. Puts a smile on your face all day long just motoring about. Thanks for the video.
I lived in the States for a couple of years and placed an order for one before they came out, didn’t even drive one, read a great review and it said all you need options wise is the Performamce pack and that’s what I did. Not sure what that would equate too in the UK but it was summer tyres, stiffer anti roll bars and the 6 pot brembo’s up front and optioned the cracking recaro bucket seats. Owned for 20 month, 20K miles, 5 track days, the car was faultless and so full of character, I loved it. To an English bloke in the USA you need to do the V8 thing and so glad I did, if we had stayed over there a Corvette would have been next on my list. After moving back to the UK bought a 996 c2 which I love, more nibble than the Stang but miss that rumble and soundtrack of the V8, I love to see them on the road in the UK but have not chatted to any owners as yet. Great review of a car that oozes character and contrary to belief I think handles well, only downside in the UK to ownership is the Petrol prices. Keep up the great reviews on a superb channel.
To be honest the Mondeo can be a bit too big sometimes. I've got a Mk3 which is still smaller than the current ones, and I've parked it car parks where it was bigger than the painted bays. Most older multi stories are a problem. They were built for Austin 1100s , 105e Anglias and original Minis. It's also a bit of a pain trying to overtake tractors on country roads, and I wouldnt want to have it if I lived in a big city where parking is constantly tight.
They are 10cm wider than a current Mondeo & the doors are bloody huge. My drive is 3m wide & if I park it close to the wall I can just get in and out without bashing the door into the wall.
I'm a Brit, living in the US. I've owned Ferraris. Porsches, a Mclaren, BMW M's, Audis RS's. I'm suddenly hankering for an American muscle car. YT is full of American reviews but I wanted one I could relate to. Your comments about handling in particular were very helpful and I think will swing me towards the GT350 or Mach1 with the magna-ride. The sound is intoxicating, reminds me of my TVR Griffith 500 which was the last car I owned in the UK before I moved.
I bought a 2018 V8 10 speed auto in ruby red. It was a necessary purchase after i hired one in Florida. The fuel consumption is not great but well worth it, it gives me 23mpg. The first week we had it we drove from London to Italian lakes and loved every minute of it, and it did 28mpg. The first service cost me about £230. I had no mechanical problems whatsoever but i had a paint defect which is now been corrected under warranty. Great car.
Anyone who owns the current Mustang owes it to themselves to get Koni's Special Active dampers. I test drove two Mustangs back to back with and without the Koni dampers and the difference was huge. It completely transformed the ride and handling of the car. The standard car had a very harsh ride especially the rear, and like Jay has said, also a bit floaty as you push on. Meanwhile with the Koni's the harshness was completely eliminated, but itstead of it now being soft like you would expect, it actually maintained a reassuring firmness (as opposed to being jarringly stiff like the original) and had much improved body control. There was some turn in understeer I experienced on the standard car. That was fixed with the Koni's. I also felt like I could flow with the car through the bends and down the road as I had more of a feel for the car and a trust in what it was doing at any given moment. With the harshness gone you really gain a confidence in driving the car as it doesn't get upset over bumps anymore and the feedback from the road is much purer. So yes the Koni's make the Mustang more comfortable and gives it more body control, but the key takeaway here is the confidence it gives you in the car. If you enjoy driving these cars like they should be driven, that is the one thing that will make you enjoy it the most as you can fully use the car without being scared of it. Usually with suspension upgrades you expect some compromises, but with these dampers it improves every single aspect of the ride for every different type of road that I drove it on. It turned the car from something I couldn't wait to get out of, into a car that I wanted to take home.
Koni's sound good ive got a set for my 2 series. Only on the rear atm so cant comment on handling. Eibach springs to fit too. Colleague has the ecoboost mustang. Lowered, iirc rouch kit on it. Handles well
As an American 5.0 owner, I figured I'd chime in and say that these cars are loved by the average person here as well. It's hard to go wrong with one, and it's never not fun to drive even with the flaws it has. It's the blue collar sports car.
I've never really been into the Mustang, but the memes are funny. That being said, they are good looking cars when you see them amongst the most common cars that you see every day in the UK.
The memes are because you can get them really cheap in America so bad drivers can afford them also kids can get them and there are over 20 kids at my school that have one and i am in highschool
Mustangs in general, be it 05' or 20' are a blast. My first car was an 05' gt and even though I got it used for 5.5k used it was the best money I spent all year. Sold it, now I'm saving up to get a 13' gt this fall. It doesn't matter what year, as long as it's a V8 mustang it feels special to drive.
@@isaachunt5799 never failed, best part about that car. You'll never break that suspension, even after 15 years and 150k miles, it drove well with no creeks or issues.
@@wellingtonbruh3756 cant drive these cars. having driven over 4 million miles in my life i know if a car drives good. that lump of cast iron they call a rear suspension is plain dangerous. these cars have suspension from a 1975 ford cortina or taunus as u yanks call them

Wonderful review, to me here in the States I have always thought of the Mustang as the poor man’s Aston Martin, not quite as pretty, not quite as fast and certainly no where near the price. Old MG’s and Triumphs had kit car interiors, felt as though at any moment the entire dash would fall off into your lap, but these beautiful lil Britts were about one thing, having fun! Even today when you see a MG or my favorite the MGB, the driver has a big smile on their face and that’s what Mustang is all about, I Love my giant F150 with all my heart, but I never smile when I see a Honda CRV, Toyota RAV4, but when I see an old MG, Triumph, Beetle or any Mustang I smile, because I know the person behind the wheel is smiling. No car will ever approach the beauty of the old Jag E Type, to me it was just simply the most gorgeous thing ever to come out of a mind, inspired by God himself, but the Mustang is a very pretty car, that will hike up her skirt and run through a meadow with a smile on her face!👍
Someone recently said when there younger brother saw my Mustang he imagined it was the love chid of a Lamborghini and a Porsche🤣 May the Horse be with you 🐎
Funny how the same thing happens in reverse in America... After I bought my Elise, it was OVER... I had the itch that would forever need scratching . And now I own an Evora. People love these cars . My favorite reaction is from kids . I allow them to sit in the car if it’s ok with a parent and you know you’ve just made that kid’s day !
What is the fuel economy like as a daily driver? I really wanted a Mustang GT and test drove one a couple times, but even the guy at the dealership said the MPG would probably be in single digits if i drove it fairly hard (which i would) and i commute 30 miles a day. So in the end i bought a new Golf R instead which i have had 2 years and love it (just put a stage 1 on it) but i often wonder if i should have gotten the Mustang.
Yes I have a 2017 GT Mustang six speed manual live in Melbourne Australia have been on many road trips it is great for long drives or days at the race track wonderful sports car part of Fords finest car
James, I recently drove a friend's 16 plate 5L GT. It is unashamedly brash and beautiful on the outside. The interior is fine, certainly good enough. Press to start and just feel what a great car it is to be in and go down the road feeling as happy as Larry! One small criticism - the gear lever could be just a bit longer! Ha Ha Ha!!! James do a fuller review please soon.
I was behind a 2000 Mustang Cobra yesterday and holly shit did it sound glorious. That thing was like a dragon on the road.I totally understand why people love them
Corvette is the best performance for dollar on the planet and the upgraded interior is a long awaited luxury over previous iterations. In America 59K US.
I wouldn't hold your breath on it being as big as a bargain once it's had dealer & import mark-up in the UK, just like with the Mustang GT 5.0 here it's far more expensive than over in the states.
I own a Mustang GT Premium here in the U.S.... Ruby Red Metallic Tintcoat. The only mod is the air intake, extras include the 19" rims, Recaro seats and a few other items. I got this as I could no longer ride my Ducati after suffering a nasty accident that resulted in three bone grafts to my right leg. Yeah, that was big fun, but this is a decent substitute. I'm 75 years old which surprises some people, especially police, when they encounter me. I get a lot of favorable comments about it though.
The M4 doesn't walk all over the Mustang. They actually did a pro lap test of both cars, same day same driver, stock vs stock, and the Mustang was 2 seconds quicker. Track was GingerMan Raceway.
Two Mustang drivers I have known, both bought not for speed or take off times but for the history and the total romance of these cars. This was a great and honest review by Jay Emm and if I was looking for another car of ANY sort it's one of these babies for the sheer joy of it. Love this, super review.
I have owned a late 2018 6 speed Convertible for a couple of months now , the pre face lift car. After watching this video, I booked my test drive ! I was looking for a mustang with no mods, low milage and full history. Must have was the Shaker Audio system. One thing Jay mentioned was the effect it has on people. He should see the effects when I do the school pick up for my kids and their friends. Roof down, sun’s out - Huge smiles all round & everyone’s happy as. Don’t get that reaction in our BMW school wagon ! The Mustang is a great car , for the reason it simply isn’t German and you can afford to repair it if check eng light illuminates. Touch wood, not yet😅
I borrowed my bosses mustang for the weekend and it was the most fun I have ever had in a car. Everyone looks at you as well. Very tail happy and thirsty though, but that was expected.
You know here in the states we really take the Mustang for granted and don't give it a 2nd look but that's because most are the secretary car which are very or 4cy automatics. I list after the manuel V6 Jaguar but when you see a GT speed out or a Cobra or SVT or a Seleen or Shelby we do take notice. Honestly seeing how much you guys appreciate it make me want to take a second look. By the way your friends Stang is laid out perfect the right amount of sinister. A BMW M series is a nice tailored suit but a mustang is a T-shirt, jeans and a leather jacket.
The great thing about the Mustang is that it's a very fun car that is relatively affordable. You are mostly correct that in The States seeing a Mustang isn't a special occasion. In the USA what makes a Mustang special, and gets attention, are the higher performance editions & years they were produced. The new coyote equipped mustang is impressive no matter where you see it.
Love the current mustang, would really like the Bullitt. Over here in Ireland the v8 costs €2300 a year road tax! Crazy. You mostly see well spec'd Ecoboost, which is a pity. I've only seen 1 v8 in the wild over here.
Rob Tap “Which is a pity” Clearly you haven’t driven the new Ecoboost. Porsche aren’t the only manufacturer who have discovered that four cylinders are more than enough.
If your buying a mustang it has to be the gt . I lived in America v8 is the only one I would have . The bullit is a gorgeous machine but the price of it here is mental . I would love to see a dodge demon in the flesh .
Well done and well said and perfect car to start the Affordable Dream Car series! The spec on this Mustang is spot on! What a beautiful car! For me, the Mustang does not become relevant to own until Mustang GT with a manual transmission all the way up to the less affordable Shelby Mustang GT 350. The Shelby Mustang GT 500 is an AMAZING example of what a Mustang can be but it does not come in a manual and it is even less affordable than the GT 350. I would have LOVED to have that V8 growl and crackle every morning but right now, as a family man, I needed car with room for my family and the back seats in the Mustang are just not usable and even here in the US with my "2 car garage" there is no way I could fit a Mustang and another car in my garage :( For me this affordable dream car would mean I would need another house to put it in because there is no way I would park it on the street. Keep up the great work. Can't wait to see that comes next.
Superb vid as always Jay. Bought a Mustang GT to replace my Caterham 420R since people never saw the tiny and low Caterham and kept crashing into it in traffic! The Mustang is so much better than I'd expected and so much better looking too than the 1970 car I owned years ago. The Coyote motor is phenomenal and the IRS ride is excellent too. An absolute bargain and uniquely charismatic.
I tested drive the GT, eventually got the Ecoboost. For the people never been in the GT, the sound also comes with vibration. And it is way lauder than what you heard in the video. The power is like....way more than you need for a daily drive within city. It feels like you only need the GT when your friend visits you over the weekend.
The GT, at least in Western Europe is the 'fun' option, Ecoboost is no doubt the better option as a commuter. I personally don't mind the rumble, won't ever need to use the radio ;) But I'm used to driving older vehicles that are noisy.
As an American I've grown up with Fords My dad had a 67 fast back when I was four I currently have an 06 Roush charged 4.6 liter have never put a penny in it other then normal service. My car here in Idaho turns heads ever place I go and I always get the thumbs up. I paid 18k in 2011 it had 13 thousand miles on it. To this day it looks like new.
I can say as a current owner of a 2017 Mustang GT from new this review is absolutely spot on Jay! The best picture you get of what owning one in the UK is truly like. I would agree totally about the clutch and servo feel for sure, it takes some getting used to and is definitely "unique". I've
One thing i'd also say is Ford fitted terrible (and dangerous) Pirelli P Zero tyres to the 15-17 model year cars, they are downright scary in the wet when cold. The 18+ ones have Michellin ones which I've heard are much better. Seems a minor criticism but doesn't give a lot of confidence in a 420BHP RWD car when the tyres start to slide just pulling out of a junction on a cold day. Otherwise i'd truly recommend one, i take my son to nursery in it and the boot space is more than ample which is a nice almost surprise too.
@@25johnlowe took mine out yesterday, 3deg c but not wet, struggling to take half throttle in 3rd but the rears are pretty well worn Dunlop sport max. Going to bite the bullet and get some Michelin PS4s soon I think!
@@NickG24 I went for Kumho Ecsta when i replaced my rear P Zeros, miles better and a really decdntg porice. i doubt they're as good as the PS4s but they are abiout half the price for i'd say being 70-80% as good from reports.
Here in the States, I see a lot of base-spec V6 solid rear-axel Mustangs. They seem to be daily drivers for people. But mostly, you see the GTs. The solid axel version are more common. But the 2015 refit with 4 wheel independent suspension are very popular. Saw a young man sporting the 2.3 badge on his Mustang. And he was with a group of young men showing off their Japanese tuner cars, in a parking lot. So, even though it's a bigger car, the handling and the turbo motor seems to appeal to the drift crowd. For a guy my age, 53, I'm really attracted to the GT Premium Convertible, with the 10 speed auto and the 3.73 Torsen rear end. I live in Texas, and the call of the Western highways seems to beg for a V8 rumbling through the canyons. No need to go nuts and race through them. Just cruise with that 10 speed auto. Should be epic with the top down. But, I honestly feel I'd enjoy a Lexus RC F with a sunroof even more. It's a much more refined and nimble car. But, if I decide on a ragtop, Mustang is the way to go.
I love the Mustang's retro dash. That's one of the main reason's I'd be buying it. All around it's a great car. And it has good crash reports. The downside is their AC systems which are prone to breaking and are about 2K to fix. But overall all they are as cool as Steve McQueen.
Greg RSVR I did the same every time I went to the states as a mustang was my dream car and they kept giving me the v6 as was absolutely crap and I would never buy 1 , then last year when I went to Florida then gave me the V8 And man what a difference 😂 the v6 is not even in the same ball park not even in the same league , and the V8 blew me away it blew me away that much , I now own 1 😁👌🏼 give the V8 a go
With the GT it’s not just the engine that gets upgraded. The suspension, brakes, tires, exhaust, wheels also get upgraded. Ford is now providing upgrades to the ecoboost models as well (exhaust, suspension, brakes etc). There is a ecoboost HPP that has like 330hp and other speed goodies. The V6 option has been dropped since 2018 models came out.
this is the previous model 'stang, with the coyote 2 engine, no bonnet vents and rear lights straight not angular. the latest 'stang, 2018+ have the coyote 3 engine, it has a slight improvement in displacement, going from 4951.34 to 5037.63, and incorperates direct injection along with the port injection. an improved compression ratio plus a few other bits and bobs moves the power from 400lb-ft to 420 and 435hp to 460. am taking my '19 'stang for a new set of boots tomorrow about to hit 35000km and will be 12months old next month. the pilot sport 4S tyres that came with it are wicked, i love em and putting them on again, not the greatest longevity but sticky. i love the car, not much of a family car but very fun to drive. have hit only 1 'roo to date, was doin around 90km i spose as i got some break on before impact, the 'roo was pushed along infront of the car before peeling off to the left as i slowed. was expecting disaster but was mightly impressed when i got out and checked front end. the front end - nose cone and grills- being made of some plastic material all held up well. only damage was top grill split in the middle on the bottom, and broke some of the tabs that hold it all together, it basically absorbed impact and popped back into place, TBH nobody even noticed unless i actually said something.
I work with two guys who have bought Mustang's. They both rate them highly. Indeed, almost as highly as I rate my Peugeot 106 diesel....and you see way more of them than you do Peugeot 106's....
Jay, don't sleep on the 2.3L EcoBoost Mustang, I think you need to find one and review it💡 Slightly detuned Focus RS engine is no slouch in the Stang 👍
Klasse Act those motors are awful in terms of reliability, ecoboost / focus RS owners here in the states complain like crazy and have experienced a ton of issues. If you want a car you can really beat on, you want natural aspiration.
@@stevencrowley110 yeah, I live here too was and the RS had its issues with the wrong head gaskets used but haven't heard alot of issues other than that but surely there's more. As far as needing a NA for beating on, well, the VooDoo engine has been a disaster, much more than the Ecoboosts.
Seriously, don't underestimate the Ecoboost. Yes it's down on power, and doesn't make those lovely rumbles, but the weight balance difference makes it's a much different car. I would even say I prefer it in the twisties or autocross. Once you get to a track the power of the v8 is hard to beat though
Klasse Act good point but the voodoo engine was very experimental and most people don’t have gt350s anyway. the 5.0 on the other hand is fairly reliable. I don’t talk down on the 6 cylinder ecboosts, those are great motors but they’re unfortunately not available in the stangs . The 4 cylinder eco boost on the other hand seems to be a ticking time bomb
The thing of thumb up when people see this car, and use "other" digit for BMWS is a good point. People love this car like an old Beetle, 911 or a 2CV. Like these cars the Mustang generates an interesting expectation in people. It has something special.
The 2.3 turbo Ecoboost Mustangs are very common in America. Much more common then the V6 (those seem to have all been sent to rental agencies). You should try driving one of the Ecoboost cars. I think you will be surprised by it. Less weight up front and quite a bit more torque than the V6 they replaced.
Bloody awesome video! No annoying music drowning out the engine sounds (which i must say were captured beautifully) really great points raised great pro’s and con’s list without being too bullet pointy and boring. Brilliant delivery. Thanks for this insightful video
Moved to the UK last year from Newzealand and have only seen 1 Mustang so far. I live in the city so get to see dozens of Lambos, R8’s and Ferraris every single day. Definitely getting a Stang for myself next year.
Having driven both the V8 and EcoBoost Mustangs, I was really surprised as to how much I liked the EcoBoost version with the auto box. Was a real nice cruiser that handled my local back roads pretty well.
@@mattevans4377 Do Ford currently have a V6 that could slot into the Mustang? Here in the UK I dont think anything in their current range has a V6 in it, maybe there is in the states. I found the V8 to be a bit much 😂 and certainly enjoyed my relaxing drive in the EcoBoost 2.3 more. Noise of the v8 is hard to beat though!

I love a Ford mustang and would love to buddy
You made my day with this sentence. OCMS (obsessive-compulsive modification syndrome)!!! Well done.
Surprisingly in the states the sentiment is similar. You dont feel super special with a mustang but if you are younger and been working hard and treat yourself to a mustang it always feels well worth it.
@@mr.takethingstooseriously It's sill an $80k car here in Aus though so definitely not cheap.
Without breaking the bank 😂 $80k AUD is a fair amount for most. Most the people I see driving them are in retirement age.

The transition between the 2 clips at 7:08 freaked me out. It looked like you were flooring it into the fire engines! Hahaha!

Great video James love your quote on the tractor driver "if I was in a BMW M4 I suspect that he'd give me one of his other digits" 🤣😂😂
These mustang's are a cool car regardless of interior, very affordable means you get more bang for the buck, and does stand out more compared to European cars of the same power, even if it's not as good to drive the b roads.
There's a guy round the corner from me that owns an Ecoboost mustang, covered in "5.0" badges....
Oh no!! Motoring mortal sin right there. 🤣

In the UK the car is good value but its the cost of fuel that starts to make it less viable
USA no federal consumption tax on retail price , media never mention this overseas
In Australia and Europe we get premium and performance package standard
£34k for the first deliveries in 2015 was excellent value for the V8.£45k for the facelift model wasn't such a bargain.

Seen a few challenger hellcats up here too and a jeep set
North Yorkshire is an entirely different animal. Go to Harrogate or York and you’ll spot at least 5 supercars in a day easy. Seen a Porsche 911 carrera 4s and 3 lambo urus in the past 2 days
Loads of rolls Royce up here too and plenty and I mean PLENTY of mustangs especially in Harrogate they love em over there.
@jamrah8713 Well, it's Hull specifically.
7:11 is that Lawrie from LMM?
On mobile.de you can find new v8 for 46290 euros from Germany, i don't know how big is your country import tax but im pretty confident it would still cost less than buying the 4cyl in Holland.
@Riste, sadly they add a really HUGE import tax on those cars. On one of those 50k mustangs it'll be between 15-20k because it has a 'dirty' big v8. 😭
So it's the Golf R of the US?
The vxr8 is a beautiful car. In a different league to the mustang.
@@kristianspencer1978 Maybe to the GT but not the Shelby variants.
Awaiting the inevitable 'it's too big for British roads' comments, when it's actually an inch or two shorter and narrower than a Mondeo. 😂
They do 'feel' a lot bigger though due to the bonnet being big enough to land a helicopter on!
@@nikpester Bit like my XKR that I had, huge front hinged bonnet that touched my garage roof 😂
What is this Bonnet you speak of?
It turned the car from something I couldn't wait to get out of, into a car that I wanted to take home.
i had the same feeling in the beginning. After i installed the short springs, the handling gets better
Koni's sound good ive got a set for my 2 series. Only on the rear atm so cant comment on handling. Eibach springs to fit too.

Did I miss is this one on sale ????? Love front splitter and stance this one.
From the smallest sports car to the largest, good work
Yes please... I would love one of them. You right here in the UK, your more likely to get a thumbs up driving one of these over BMW M car!
What I learnt from this video :
M4: 🚜 +👀 =🖕🏾
Mustang GT 🚜 +👀 =👍🏾
Good Review, had my Pony for 2 years and love driving it every day
I tested drive the GT, eventually got the Ecoboost.
Can anyone else see the Aston Martin Similarities on the camera view around 1:58??

As an American I've grown up with Fords My dad had a 67 fast back when I was four I currently have an 06 Roush charged 4.6 liter have never put a penny in it other then normal service. My car here in Idaho turns heads ever place I go and I always get the thumbs up. I paid 18k in 2011 it had 13 thousand miles on it. To this day it looks like new.
The sound 😍
raspy shite.
all those 5.0's sound dreadful
I love my 2015 GT. Insane performance, comfortable, well made. Best car I ever drove.
I’m getting one this weekend!! Haven’t decided on colour yet, but honestly they all look amazing, will definitely get the GT pack ofc
Just for the first 5 seconds of this video and that beautiful sound it gets a like! :)
It's nice that it comes in right hand drive, but I really prefer the dodge challenger. Sometimes a worse car is just better 😎
Dodge Challenger's are really cool looking cars.
I’m Irish it was hard to find this car being driven on similar roads that’s why I watch this guy always handy info
I love the Mustang's retro dash. That's one of the main reason's I'd be buying it. All around it's a great car. And it has good crash reports. The downside is their AC systems which are prone to breaking and are about 2K to fix. But overall all they are as cool as Steve McQueen.
You are so right I had an 06 for 5 years and my heart raced every time I fired her up.
what are your thoughts on how this Mustang compares to the older GT500 you drove in the states last year?
this is the most insane thing ever!! a wrong hand drive mustang... glad to see theyre making their way over the pond
Bloke down my roads got a mustang and it sounds sweet when it goes past 👍
US based car guy. Just discovered your channel. Love the content and hearing another perspective from across the pond.
Great video! I have a 2019 GT Premium, and it’s a wonderful car!
lol living in cuckoo land..go test drive a camaro and you'll find out how a proper yank muscle car sounds and drives
I bought a brand new 1985 GT Mustang, it was a very fun car to drive.
I rented a soft top mustang in L.A. in '17, 3ltr v6, pretty slow, crap on bends but 34mpg and very comfortable.

Indeed, almost as highly as I rate my Peugeot 106 diesel....and you see way more of them than you do Peugeot 106's....
yep, I thought I would find you here LOL. Mustang vs Peugeot 106 diesel lol
My moneys on the Peugeot. Pwwwwrrrrr, what a bus!!!
Fabulous comment! Well said.
Not any old review, a perfect review!
Its detuned for this the far bigger heavier car why? Economy maybe? Whats the kerb weight of these out of curiosity.
Jay, what do you think on Porsche adding factory touch screen head units in classic cars up to the 996.
I saw that yesterday. Was interested, but then I read the price.
They seem to add a load of 90s only dials as well
The 2.3 turbo Ecoboost Mustangs are very common in America. Much more common then the V6 (those seem to have all been sent to rental agencies).
You should try driving one of the Ecoboost cars. I think you will be surprised by it. Less weight up front and quite a bit more torque than the V6 they replaced.
These a very popular in Australia. They're everywhere! Rather be looking at these than Camry's!
@goodfella21f Yes! Really!
@goodfella21f Yes. But they're not as popular because they are quite a bit more expensive.

Bloody awesome video! No annoying music drowning out the engine sounds (which i must say were captured beautifully) really great points raised great pro’s and con’s list without being too bullet pointy and boring. Brilliant delivery. Thanks for this insightful video
New intro is great! Seems higher-quality than before.
Redline is 7000 RPM, no? At least, it is here in the States.
The Mustang has always been a dream car of mine even as an American. Glad you all in Europe will get a piece of the fun now :) great video!
Another great review. Loving the content. Mustang are epic. Nothing beats the sound of a yank V8.
This is the reason I subscribed to this guy. Thank you for the video.
My pleasure Nick
I live close to a ford dealership so i get to these everyday 😍
Moved to the UK last year from Newzealand and have only seen 1 Mustang so far. I live in the city so get to see dozens of Lambos, R8’s and Ferraris every single day. Definitely getting a Stang for myself next year.
Having driven both the V8 and EcoBoost Mustangs, I was really surprised as to how much I liked the EcoBoost version with the auto box.
Was a real nice cruiser that handled my local back roads pretty well.
The GT has an EcoBoost. They can make HP.
I'd still prefer a V6 over a 4 cylinder. They talk about dropping engines for environmental reasons, but then, why keep the V8 over the V6?
@@mattevans4377 Do Ford currently have a V6 that could slot into the Mustang? Here in the UK I dont think anything in their current range has a V6 in it, maybe there is in the states.
I found the V8 to be a bit much 😂 and certainly enjoyed my relaxing drive in the EcoBoost 2.3 more.
Noise of the v8 is hard to beat though!
I like how the license plate sounds out to "muscle". (MU66 CLE) Nice touch.
Really enjoyed that! Definitely my dream car and affordable compared to so many others! Definitely a lot of car for the money!
It just releases a vast array of emotions
Love it
I want to get one. Toughest decision will be racing stripe or no racing stripe
TheDonBarracuda I like my Mustangs like I like my women.
With a racing stripe. 😎

🐎💨The 1984-1986 SVO is my favorite Mustang of all time. It wasn’t until 2005 (fifth generation) that I would take notice again of the Mustang. When the sixth generation Mustang was revealed for 2015, I knew I had to finally buy one.
