Those aren't QR codes. They're DM (a.k.a. Data Matrix) codes. A regular QR-code reader won't read them. A DM code will store only 50 characters -- ideal for a part-number or serial number. And the spare-tire well exists because you *can* buy a spare tire for it. If you want to pony up $175 extra. Also, for $53K, you should've had the magnetorheological suspension -- thus you could make the ride less harsh by selecting a different driving mode, if I'm not mistaken.
Based Shaud yea luxury cars, by the way some Genesis are equiped just like a Bentley there it's plenty of videos comparing Genesis models and Bentley, but some people value more cost rather than how they make you fee,l Kia and Honda or Hyundai doesn't really make you feel in any way like that they are pretty good cars but they aren't meant to make you feel pampered.
Guys, the real sad part is this isn't the first time he's talked about these data matrix codes and called them QR codes... Came to the comments just for this.
Lighter seats, more grippy, feel nice, look great. They're Recaros, a must have for any legitimate sports car. Heated, cooled, electrically adjustable are for people who notice QR codes on every individual part.
I get the cooling part but i never got why you would want electric seat adjustment. I set up my seat once when i get a car and it stays that way forever. Rarely i give it a slight adjustment after my first longer drive and that's it. I can do that manually and i would never get electric seat adjustment as an upgrade on a new car. Same goes for stuff like air con vents and the steering Collum.
The car has a leather dash, leather pretty much everywhere except the main portion of the center console and people still complain. The places you touch 90+% of the time are soft touch and people still complain. Also, knocks features down because of "no power seats" when the package literally had to be ordered with the Recaros to REPLACE the power seats. Come on man.
shonole you are spot on sir! I have the explorer 2017 and very similar interior. While yes it is not a bmw or Mercedes lever I have to say ford really has upped their game!
shonole Soft does not mean quality. American cars are not the pinacle of quality if you want that go get a german car. @@Mentality From an unbiased point of view, the Camaro's windshield angle and overall placement, space, and feeling of the cabin make it completely inferior to the Mustang as of now. Doug, Our 2018 Mazda3 6-speed manual has adaptive cruise control as well. It does not disengage when you push in the clutch and will allow you to upshift and downshift as needed. If you slow down too much or are on an incline that is too steep for the gear you are in the HUD will prompt you to downshift. Works great and I'm not sure why other companies can't seem to match Mazda's approach.
I don't know how it is in the Mazda but in my car it does what the Mustang does as well: If it reaches a certain lower limit (30 km/h I think) it shows a warning and turns off. At that point you're just driving a normal manual car so if you don't do anything, yes it will stall. But that's the driver's fault then
Doug DeMuro, the only person to open an owners manual to talk about towing with a mustang, but questions what the Mislock feature is, even though it's also in the owners manual.
Actually, the beauty of the Mustang is that Ford has enticed a ton of young buyers who don’t want a rice rocket. The small block V8 has advanced to a point that the turbo 4 or smaller engines just can’t keep up with the torque and power of a solid V8 with advanced fuel injection, they can make the power but the torque is weak, and the smaller engine has to be over tuned and revved to compete with an advanced V8. I think Ford has hit a home run with the Mustang by keeping older buyers and picking up newer buyers who could care less about buying American, they just want a cool car, and Ford has done it with the newer Mustangs. Being able to take an S550 and slap a supercharger on it can boost the power to 650-800hp without killing the engine, that’s how advanced and tough theses engines are. There are dealers taking base Mustang GT’s and putting on Roush super chargers for just over $40,000, but still less then $50k. Where else OR what other car can you buy for less then $50,000 with 700+hp? This is an amazing time we live in, for car enthusiasts, massive horsepower V8’s that actually get reasonable mpg and this power was only a dream over a decade ago. I was never a Ford guy, but after watching Ford Vs Ferrari and learning more about Shelby and other aspects of Ford racing, I went out and bought a new base GT and have modified it, there’s a million high performance parts for these, and many if them are high quality, especially “Ford Performance”. I’ve owned many euro sports cars, and I believe Doug’s comment “it’s a blast” sums it up, incredibly fun to drive. Yes, the interior sucks, who cares? I bought the car for the engine, and it’s insane, and the independent rear suspension is really good, which was always a weak point for Ford. A $50 aftermarket spring fixes the clutch by the way. You can take a Mustang GT and make it into a “super car” for a whole lot less $$$ then people think...LOVE THIS CAR, I don’t regret a single second of it...
All good points. And I like when you say “who cares about interior”. I am one of those guys also that doesn’t really care when car shopping about luxury or interior quality. I had a 2001 mustang gt and the interior I was horrible. But didn’t bother me at all because it was a fun car to drive. My Camaro and my current car, gto are the same way although the gto is much nicer than the mustang On the inside. But still, for me it’s about performance. I test drove a 2019 bullit last year and although the interior isn’t luxury quality, to me it was more than nice enough. But the feeling of driving it was amazing. I am selling my gto in a couple of months and will be picking up a 2018+ gt. Can’t wait. Also I heard on another channel that the spring for the clutch pedal helps a lot so good point on that. I will be installing one of those once I pick it up.
@@anthony91688 People use the interior excuse when desperately trying to justify some german car being twice the price despite being less reliable and far less fun to drive, interiors don't mean that much at all, honestly this car has all I need.
Doug there is an absolute logical reason why you have almost 2 million followers on your channel...beating almost every (current or new) famous guy reviewer by a very large margin (though Parker from vehicle virgins is somewhat, but still far closing in)...and that reason is, as goofy and somewhat sarcastically funny as you are, you do give a very thorough and practical once over of any vehicle you review. You have a very uncanny and entertaining way of pointing out and scrutinizing I think literally every nook and cranny of a vehicle but also at the same time going over specs and what makes that particular vehicle shine or suck. Also you are goofy (a compliment) as supposed to overly excited or hyper which bugs me personally with other reviewers, but most of all of all of your “quirkiness” I like the fact that you seem to come across as a down to earth guy who has his shit together and thoroughly knows his subject. So congrats! As a very serious petrol head, I would always look for your reviews and insight 1st before I seek the point of view of your other peers because I know that with you, I’m not being bullshitted/ hyped/ or stroked and that I’m getting enough intelligent info to learn or make a decision...but also entertained at the same time. So thank you for being a great car reviewer!
That color looks bad on camera, but the new coyote/10-speed combo is quite literally hard to beat. The new generation of pony cars are not trumped up rental cars anymore. These are true sports cars.
Owner of the car: "Let's see, well it costs $53,000, has over 400 horsepower & it'll go 0-60 in under 4 seconds so it's a pretty serious machine--" Doug: "LOOK AT ALL THESE QR CODES!"
In 2018 a Mustang GT 5.0 was 35,000 in 2021 a Mustang GT 5.0 is also 35k, this guy got marked up and raped by the dealership Doug should’ve titled this “this is why a Mustang GT with every option available costs 50k”
@@trentmclellan1037 To be fair. The base models are pretty basic. The digital dash, heated and cooled seats, suspension and brake upgrades are worth it to some... and if not, then just wait a year or two and pick one up slightly used, fully loaded, for under 40.
He seems generally clueless about cars. The origin of “powered by Ford” should be obvious. I can’t stand his “reviews”. The quirks and features section is not amusing at all and the “road test” portion is worthless. I can’t seem to find another reviewer who has access to so many cars though (i.e. the Porsche 928). It’s frustrating - Id love to see a real driver actually drive all these cars he has access to.
A couple things. Your Mustang had the optional Recaro seats which are for track and racing. The normal seats have power and you can also get them heated and vented. Plus, you got the manual 6 speed. That car now has the latest 10 speed automatic that Ford designed with GM. Points off of the features for the manual seats isn't fair. There should be bonus points for the fact that there are so many things you can change on the Mustang that no 2 are exactly alike. That gauge cluster is optional by the way. At least you found out how much fun it is to drive.
Mislock is in the manual, and its on other Fords. Its a security thing, if a door or the hood or trunk is isnt shut properly when you remote lock the car, the horn will beep twice to let you know.
You are somewhat correct on the QR code’s. Auto manufacturers use them to ensure the correct part # gets on the vehicle. In some cases (mainly safety related), the part is assigned a unique number and “scanned” to the vehicle. Thus, if a recall ever has to be made, they can be certain which vehicles need to be called back.
Tyler Johnson I agree I never liked the the older generation mustangs because 300hp just wasn’t enough but when they went back with the 5.0 pushing 400 stock and definitely now with the 2018 pushing 60 more horses you can’t beat it
@@mazdaspeedg2380 I agree, i hated to to go with a 17 when the 18 added direct injection but i couldn't justify spending another 15k or so for it. Plus the 17 is still worth basically what i paid for it, buy a new car and get hit with the immediate depreciation.

Good sir, I was replying to "Evan Roberts" above. Do agree your above sentiment. It is, indeed, the small things that count. Little considerations like that are nice from Ford.
Personally, I miss the days when you had a REAL guage cluster, and if you wanted to change the engine sound, you drove down to the muffler shop and installed some flowmasters or old school glass packs.
"I thought it'd kinda be crappy...and it isnt!" That's exactly how it was for me! Drove a rental ecoboost automatic for a few days and well, now I've got a manual '19 GT. Really is a blast, way more fun than you'd expect, and way more engine than you pay for.
Doug, "Powered by Ford" is tradition that is usually on the valve covers, going back to the 1960s Mustangs and GT40. Also, the running lights are an homage to original gills on the 1964 1/2 Mustang. The 2005-2009 Mustang had machined "gills" inside the headlight assembly to give a similar effect.
I bought a 2016 Mustang GT with 2100 miles for 33k. I am loving it. Changed the exhaust to a Borla Cat Back and installed Eibach 1" lowering springs. It's a bad ass ride for the money. Don't need a 2018 to look good, sound good and have fun.

You people who are freaking out over 50 grand have no clue. The dealerships put every available option on these cars just to charge a premium price $50k or more. The 2018 GT starts at 35K people, you don’t have to buy the heated and cooled everything that the dealership wants you to. For 35K you can get a nicely optioned GT that can kick the crap out of several cars costing a lot more. The Mustang has made lots of improvements over the years, 460 horse power all motor, a 2009 mustang you would be lucky to get 450 with a base supercharger kit. Most people that buy mustangs keep their cars for several years because they love them, if you’re buying a Mustang for trade in value you might as well get a Camry. Why bitch and moan over the cost of a vehicle that you can’t afford if you can’t afford 50 K for a mustang you can’t afford a GTR or a Lamborghini or even a highly optioned Kia stinger LOL. The base supercharger kit for the 2018 mustang with a full warranty is 700 hp forget about the hellcat that’s good enough to go hunt exotics...

I just bought a 2018 GT 6 speed with over $15K in performance mods and only 20K miles on it. Paid $35K for it. Whatever it is, just wait a few years and let someone else take the depreciation and upgrade it for you. I'm sure between the initial price and cost of upgrades my car was once a $65K+ car that I now own for a little over half that. Buy smart
The Camaro beat it to the punch, but the Mustang is starting to catch up. The Challenger is just sitting back saying "screw it, let's give the thing another 90hp."
You are clueless kid. Mustang has been doing that for a while. Since they remodeled the car in 2015 they made it more curvaceous and sleek just like an Aston Martin or jaguar.
You can save all that trial and error, learning-by-experience and time spent looking for answers elsewhere if you look through the owners manual. Personally I ask for the owners manual to a car from the dealership before I take delivery of it. I"m excited about the car but don't have my hands on it and there's no better impetus for looking through an owners manual than that. I gaurantee there's things you will never know about your car unless you read through the owners manual, even if you have the thing for a decade.
Just not from General Motors, from the Pre-2000s. Back then you could buy any car fully loaded and the manual will have details about things that don't exist and gloss over the things it does have.
What a real beaut. i'm a Japanese car kinda guy but these mustangs are incredible. Finally they went to independent rear suspension. The looks of this car are a 10/10.
For anyone wondering about the "Mislock" feature (apparently present in other Ford vehicles) : "If any door or the liftgate is open, or if the hood is open on vehicles with an anti-theft alarm or remote start, the horn will sound twice and the direction indicators will not flash"
Great review Doug, but a few things that bothered me about it. 1. You reviewed a version with the Ricaro seats that don’t have any power features, what would your Doug score be if it had regular seats? 2. What were thoughts on the view of the rear window, does it matter too you that it’s better to see out than the Camaro or Demon. 3. What were thoughts on the steering wheel, I heard it’s different and has different handling settings.
What I look for in a great interior for a car is granite/quartz countertops, brass/gold hardware, a lazy suzane in the center console for my phone or a piece of cake, marble hand chiseled A-pillars with greek godesses on them and of course the seat was straight out of a furniture store with massaging seats.... so hard to find nowadays.
I don't care what you guys say about Doug, he could be the type of guy this and that, but anyone who drives his Aston Martin across the country for 2 weeks all by himself is a badass in my book.

Doug,
Our 2018 Mazda3 6-speed manual has adaptive cruise control as well. It does not disengage when you push in the clutch and will allow you to upshift and downshift as needed. If you slow down too much or are on an incline that is too steep for the gear you are in the HUD will prompt you to downshift. Works great and I'm not sure why other companies can't seem to match Mazda's approach.
Dylan Powell
That's exactly how my company car,a 2017 Skoda Octavia estates adaptive cruise control works as well.
And if you DON'T downshift, then it stalls?
Same in my 2017 MINI Cooper. I was surprised that the Mustang can't do that, seems kind of cheap...
The Powered by Ford is a nod to the Ford GT and race Mustangs of the 60's, as that's what was on the valve covers of those race cars....
Whoever writes the owners manuals has to be the most patient person on earth.

Nobody is reading that shit bro
ThatLow2V don’t understand what you’re saying??
ThatLow2V if you take your time to read it he’s saying a lot of facts. I recommend you read it you might learn something
IMGONEIN60 He's saying that you've typed too much words for anyone to want to see what you're talking about.
TheAztecWarrior100 This is true.
Doug looks like jay lenos son
robertsd247 I’m pretty sure if you can build your own car with 560 hp, you probably know something about cars.
STARKILLER BEATS I never noticed that!!!!
Ahhhh real shit tho, l like that 😂👉
Sounds like him too..
robertsd247 Jay is actually one of the few true car guys left. He's very knowledgeable and passionate. I also had the pleasure of meeting him and touring his garage.
Buy smart
In my opinion, the Mustang GT is leaving the pony-car category it created to become a more proper sports car.
True, that´s why so many people love the Challenger. Not the fastest or best handling.
Yeah
exionem lol sorry kids, the big fat chally will beat the crapstain in a straight line anyday
Doug is the only human being I know of who will deliberately read an owner's manual.
I've always used mine as firelighters.
DareToBeDeviant
Shit. I do lmao
And you're probably also the guy who asks a thousand questions on forums... how do you do this, how do you do that...🙄
Not at all. I know my cars inside and out.
Devil z if u watch wangan
Agreed with everything you said
Actually this Mustang looks like a Japanese car
They are ugly as fuck. Stick with your Honda. 100% more reliable and probably looks better
is it 710 yet ? Lmao this guy is sooooo mad at Mustangs. Fuck outta here bitch
For anyone wondering about the "Mislock" feature (apparently present in other Ford vehicles) :
"If any door or the liftgate is open, or if the hood is open on vehicles with an anti-theft alarm or remote start, the horn will sound twice and the direction indicators will not flash"
"$53000 for a regular mustang" it's $53000 because it's the highest trim level a GT can get....
Synyster Shadows actually it's not they make a PP2 that's a PP1
I got my 2018 Mustang GT PPL1 for less than $35,000
@ 11:33. Holy crap Doug. What the hell did you do to your finger? Its so crooked!
Given all "the type of guy" jokes, you don't really want to know...
Al H. I dont think it's meant as a diss. It's just humor ;)
He is badass though. If I'd buy an Aston I better have a really good reason to drive it since its British... Can't ever be sure when it'll decide to just roll over and never again turn over.
Yeah I drove the Alaskan Highway in February, but I still wouldn't trust a British car across country. LOL.
hes alright, just has one of them faces you wanna punch. he reminds me of jay leno.
The fact that they included towing in the manual is cool. Would there be any reason NOT to be able to tow a small boat/jet ski with this? Pretty cool they addressed it for those of us that want utility
Wtf. He calculated the duration of turn signal light. 😂
I love his videos presentation, so much fun to watch, no wonder he’s among the best editors / video presenters in the industry. Well done
