I got the Ecoboost as a daily driver and it has been great. Decent on gas if you drive it normally, and can be fun when you want it to be. I am not a big car guy so this car goes as fast as I will ever need it to be. I never driven faster than 200km/h(125miles/h) and I don't think I ever will. So this is actually the perfect car for a single guy like me as a daily. Now I just need a bronco haha
@@Bespoke_Builds Well it has electronic lock at 130 mile/h so thats 210km, but If you disable the lock I have seen people top out around 145 mile/h which is 233km/h
Currently driving a 5.0 2019. I just couldn’t imagine buying a 4 cylinder mustang the sound alone sold me. Yes it’s more on gas but the feeling, sound and pure fun is worth it.
On the contrary ,that v8 rumble heralds it's arrival before even it gets there so the pedestrians will dodge it easily. But a 4cylinder vacuum cleaner will get them discreetly.
With added weight from the bigger engine you can probably get a couple more kids and maybe a couple elderly people before coming to a stop. I hope this helps!😁
Can you share your experience and how it feels to drive mustang ecoboost after v6 Accord? Is it worth to switch from Honda? Have honda and thinking about switching and would be great to hear your experience
@@reib3837 the Honda v6 is a solid vehicle. It’s a little front heavy with the v-6. It’s quick but not overly fast. Great car IMO. However, the ecoboost is very balanced and cuts on a dime. I suggest the ecoboost premium, as it has everything the Honda has and more.
The eco boost or V6 coupe is likely going to be my first car if I go for leasing a mustang. Not only is it more cost and fuel efficient, but I don’t think a new/young driver can handle a V8 engine. I’m paying for all of it with my own money as well, so it’s going to be exciting. Can’t wait to go 80 on the highway with the windows open 😂
@@internet.money1820 yeah I made the decision to go for a 10 speed eco boost. I was shocked when I saw it is more or less faster than the Challenger R/T which is technically a higher trim level.
@@xum0007 im 19, i dont know man, been driving a V8 for quite some time, no problem handling it, i did get a convertible 2016, and it feels amazing going top down on a good day at like 60 mph, but if i go to 100 then it gets too windy
I hate to admit it, but I agree. When I bought my Eco I didn’t think I would care, but I found that I did. A few times somebody in a GT next to me would rev their engine and really make it growl to just let me know. I’ve mostly gotten over it. To cheat I put 2.3T badges on the fenders and I have active exhaust with four pipes, so from a distance and squinting into the sun it might look a bit like a GT LOL. Naw, not fooling anyone. I do love it at the pump, however. And insurance is much less. So basically the money I saved went into a retirement account.
Bought a used 2017 Ecoboost convertible for long trips and top-down cruising. 32 mpg at highway speeds, with more than enough power for merging and passing. The car is comfortable and reliable and it's a good fit for me.
Did you have any trouble with he rear windows coming misaligned with the convertible top? I hear that can be a problem, and I’m deciding weather to get a hard top or not.
Good analysis. Always assumed I would get a GT but as little as I drive and now in my 50’s the Ecoboost made more sense. Last April I looked at the last of the 2020s at local dealers and bought an Eco Premium with MSRP $37K for $26K out the door. Just could not justify spending so much more. Do I regret it? Yes, I’d rather have the GT - But I’ve come to really like my four banger Pony and it’s been great fun so far. On a trip to South Texas I did average 32 miles per gallon and that was driving mostly back roads at 80 mph and passing often.
Good choice. I bought a new MY 2020 Ecoboost convertible in late 2019 to replace my ageing Aston Martin Vantage. The Mustang of course costs a fraction to run compared to the Aston, and is so easy to drive. Also it’s fast enough for the fair weather cruising I like to do, with enough oomph for overtakes. Today I was enjoying a nice drive in the spring sunshine with my shades on, the roof back and Steely Dan playing, when I was passed by a VW Golf R doing at least 30 over the speed limit. “Good luck to you”, I thought. “I hope you don’t meet a farm vehicle, and I don’t envy your passenger”.
I happened to be back and saw your question. I can’t believe my good fortune, just before, Ford sent me a coupon for $2000 off, including even Mustang which is usually excluded, and I caught the dealer wanting to clear one of their two remaining 2020 models in April 2021. They had huge aged inventory discounts, and also took off a bit more for military discount. I was trading a 2004 Thunderbird and the sales manager really wanted that car, so they lowered the price of the Mustang a little more to make up for not being able to give me what I wanted for the trade. The timing was perfect, not long after all the chip shortages started and I probably never could have saved so much. Sometimes the stars just align. Not usually my experience for acar purchase!
I bought my 2021 Mustang GT specifically for the power. I have the 6-speed manual and I drive my GT like I stole it. I got a good deal and i really bought the car for the engine and transmission. I get 14-19 mpg depending on how far i drive., I considered buying an Ecco boost premium but i can't deal with the stigma and the lack of power of the 4 banger. Most people i know get the V8 or at least dream of owning the V8 version.
We have a 2019 Premium EcoBoost and a 2021 Premium GT PP1. The gas mileage difference between the two are negligible. 23-27 mpg vs. 21-24 mpg, because if you want to have any fun with the 4 cylinder at all, because it is still a heavy car, you have to engage those turbos, which decreaes your fuel efficiency. If you drive it like a Ford Fusion, the gas mileage improves, but 😴 💤 The EcoBoost is cheaper to buy and maintain. And it doesn't suck to drive. Mods are easy and simple. They're great cars. I don't have anything negative to say about them, beyond the fact that they sound terrible. I think that most people who are using their cars who just drive on the road from point a to point b would be better served to buy an EcoBoost. I track my car, so a GT is a minimum for me.
That's my experience. I got the EB for a daily. Gas mileage isn't great so far, but it's all big city driving, it's winter (warm up time and sitting in it hyping myself up to go out in the cold) and I still dip my foot in a little further than I should. It's on par with my wife's 2.4 n/a 6at crossover, and a whole hell of a lot better than my v10 3/4 ton truck. I was looking for a 4cyl manual car, preferably coupe/2 door hatchback. Mustang topped the list because it's turbo and rwd. The only other car that competes with the EB Mustang is the EcoTec Camaro, which is just a worse car in every way imo. Next down the list was a BRZ/FR-S, but they're less fun, not to mention pretty cramped for me @6'3". Test drove the mustang and couldn't even bring myself to try out one of the fwd options.
you must utterly baby the hell out of the GT to get those figures haha, no one in our club had anywhere near 20mpg. All sitting averaging 17. My eco stock was giving me about 26mpg but then cobb stage 1 actually went to 29mpg. Not enough power, so went Tune+ with Wagner intercooler and exhaust and then went back to around 24-25mpg. And this was with a pull every single time i drive her. i would baby it on the motorway, but i would utterly back her through a few gears as soon as the oil warmed up and i sat at 25. No way on Gods green earth with a GT.
I remember when Mustang came out with a V6 making 300hp around 2011 or so? Brand new it was about 20k. Same power as the previous Mustang GT was making with a V8. I was tempted to buy one and wish I had at the time. 5 years later, those used Mustangs with a V6 were still selling for 20k. Zero depreciation.
I knew many people disparage the V6 but I would love to have had one. I bought the four banger but if Ford still offered the V6, I would’ve gone for it.
The V6 had the same HP as the 4.6l GT, but the torque curve lets it down. Drove the EB and V6 (basically same HP), and the turbo really makes that 4cyl shine compared to the V6.
I own a 2016 EcoBoost premium and I have cold air intake and blow off valve installed with a cobb tuner and I've raced last gens gt and pulled on it I havent raced a mustang gt s550 yet though but that only costed me roughly 1500 for bolt ons so price wise u can make the EcoBoost faster easilly I will be doing full catback exhaust next
People rag on the v6 or I4 versions of the mustang, but honestly it really is not deserved- mach e though, thats not a mustang even if its a solid car name aside
We took our 2019 5L Gt on a road trip from Manitoba to Bc, through the mountains for a week and back home. Was shocked to have an average of 8.6L/100km (27.3mpg). I drive a 2.3l turbod mazdaspeed3 and my lowest is like 9 on straight highway. Usually closer to 10-13. Was genuinely amazed at relative fuel efficiency, all things considered.
I barely can use 330 hp on my ecoboost on any given day or drive. I have no idea and still don't have any idea what the point of spending X amount more for a car that looks exactly the same that has 130 more horsepower is. I can't even use the ecoboost's full power anywhere ever. The ONE and only thing I want a GT for is sound, I do miss that, but that ONE thing is not justifiable to spend how much more just so you can tell people "I have a 5.0". Everywhere I go in traffic, everywhere I park I get complimented on my Ecoboost so why would I bother with a GT 😂
There is guy named Jessie Ringley. He is the owner of Engineered motor solutions (EMS). He just took his Ecoboost to Ponies in the Smokies. His ecoboost is reliably putting down 1000hp. His setup is pretty wild! They have a built block that they sell called the Babubu block that is designed to work around 800hp. I’m not sure what his different about his, but still insane to think about. I own an ecoboost and love it. I have thought about doing the Babubu block or maybe the new Ecobeast block from Ford Performance that has been tested for 500whp. Time will tell!
@@lueyR its either a mustang gt or Corvette. I always wanted one. Iam single have no kids my family dislikes me. I have Hereditary spastic parapersis which is a benign form of lou gehrigs disease. s550 owner here, the OVERALL better value is the ecoboost, why u may ask...simple its fords grand national, if u do not know what a grand national, please google it, the car is lighter, than a GT, every 1 gets a GT because of the sound or 10 speed, but whats crazy allot of people go turbo for the GT, which is funny, the fastest ecoboost ran a 9.4.....feel free to see the vid here on youtube, bill putnam ecoboost, the fastest new gt500 ran a 8.9 0r 9.4, stangmode GT500 ran a 9.4 with like a million bucks done 2 the motor after he blew it up like 2 times...lol DONT SLEEP ON THE ECOBOOST!
Very informative; thank you. I think I’m leaning more towards an Eco for my personal lifestyle but really my dream is to own a vintage 1965-1973 mustang convertible 🔥😭💛✨ someday I will, but for now I am definitely excited to get a modern version !!
My 2019 with the 10 speed transmission and a 91 octane I can get 30mpg's on road trips. Best of been able to pull was 31.5 (hand calc) at 60mph. This trip was 180 miles.
Look, nothing beats a V8 but if you're doing some curvy highway driving, the lighter chassis might be a better bet. Throw in some aftermarket goodies and a manual transmission and it might be fun.....
I don’t own a Mustang, or any v8, i just thought i give my two cents since this video popped up in my recommendations. For me personally, it doesn’t feel right to get anything else besides a v8 if you go with Ford, Chevy, Dodge etc etc. If you’re gonna get a v6 or a four banger, you might as well stick with getting Japanese cars which has a very large market for aftermarket parts. I prefer Japanese cars personally, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, Toyota, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Lexus, Mazda, Acura, Scion, as a better option. You can’t go wrong with that. If i want a Muscle car, it has to be a V8! No exception, it wouldn’t feel right to me to get a v6 “Muscle Car” or a four Banger “Muscle Car” just doesn’t make any sense. Do yourself a favor to whomever sees this comment, if you’re buying a Mustang, save your money, hustle, and work hard on getting the v8, in the long run, you will be glad you did. If not, save yourself the trouble and money and just buy a Japanese v6 or 4 Banger, mod that bitch and call it a day.
Buddy the 4 cylinder japanese cars you mentioned put out around 160-200 horsepower. The turbo 4 cylinder mustang puts out 310 horsepower and 350 lb torque!! Not comparable. Also keep in mind, the 4 cylinder ecoboost puts out more horsepower than a 2010 V8 mustang GT...so it's really all in your head. You have to think outside of the box. I personally bought the ecoboost. Don't get me wrong, I love the the V8 but it cost at least 15,000 more in my area. And that's besides the gas, maintenance, insurance, etc...I also don't think it's efficient on gas, and I love efficiency in life. But that's just my opinion.
@iLoskii Very well said. I agree 100%. I had a 2014 V6 mustang and it was great, but I really wanted a V8 but couldn't afford it. I should have just waited. I traded it in and bought a brand new GT in 2018 when I could afford it. It's paid off and I'm keeping it until it drops or I do.
To each their own. I owned a 2014 V6 pony package Mustang. To make it handle like the newer Mustangs I upgraded the suspension to Eibach shocks, struts, lowering springs and front/rear sway bars, and a strut tower brace. Only other performance mod was CAI and aftermarket exhaust. It was fun, but still felt like a rental car. Traded for a 2018 base model ecoboost, 101A + wheel and stripe package. Mods: custom 2.5” cat back exhaust w/.4” chrome tips; strut tower brace; COBB stage 1A kit (CAI + OEM stage 1 tune); Steeda clutch spring. It’s quicker and faster than the V6, and handles better. It’s my daily driver, so the cost of ownership was a big factor. Drive a GT before buying the ecoboost. No buyer’s remorse here. Handles great, enough hp/torque to put me back in my seat. Mileage is very good (24-26 city/hwy and 30+ hwy). But like I said, to each their own.
I am so upset with myself, I went from a GT to the Ecoboost, and I am still happy with it, but I would much rather have the V8. But considering the difference between the years of the car, an 03 V8, to a 19 Ecoboost, I think I am happy there, and I travel more so I'm good there, and I am in my 50s so I should probably slow down, lol. But I kick myself in the butt sometimes. So I have both upgraded and downgraded, but I am still having a good time with my new Ecoboost mustang. Oh, they are both convertibles, so I still won there too lol. Being this is my 4th mustang, I think I can live with this one, until I get a new one in the future
I understand exactly, I love my Eco but still really want the GT. I just don’t drive that much, and am also in my 50s so a fairly conservative driver (I just hate getting speeding tickets, such a waste of money, and at a certain time of life one realizes nothing is gained by driving fast all the time) though I put the Mustang through her paces when traffic/back country roads now. I don’t like the 2024 redesign so if I’m going to get a GT I need to do it soon and get a 22 or 23. I don’t know, that money should go into the retirement account instead LOL.
In my experience, the very first thing V8 lovers gripe about with the EcoBoost is the exhaust sound...If you add a tune and bolt-ons with the NX2 you'll be at comparable power 5.0 output with a 53/47 weight distribution, either way you'll pay to play, and I ordered a fully optioned out premium High Performance Package with all the goodies...The tune & performance bolt-ons are next, I already lowered it on the magne-ride with the handling package and added the GT350R brembo 6 piston fronts & 4 piston rears with e-brake drums in the hats, plus staggered rims/tires
Sounds great. I do regret not getting the Ecoboost high-performance, but I bought one of two 2020s on the lot in 2021 at a deep discount, so let practicality carry the day. Mine does have Ford active exhaust which helps a little bit, and I like the look of the quad pipes, but I’m sure it doesn’t sound any thing as good as what you have set up.
@@ST_DCT Bro when you calculate all those tunes and whatnot to make it comparably fast as 5.0...you might realize you spend spend more money than just driving regular 5.0. Maybe after huge amountes of miles difference may be justified
My 2024 ecoboost Premium had different packages it was $43k MSRP. I could’ve gotten a base model gt for like $45k with rebates. I chose the ecoboost premium because I got all the features of the fully loaded GT but the gas mileage of an eco boost.
My GT has had no problems thus far, but i've always heard of the ecoboom and know 2 people that has happened to. I think they both can get decent gas mileage, and obviously if you're having fun you will use more smiles per gallon.
Well to me it depends on your pocket depth, Ecoboost fits mines pretty good and then some, for the toys! I raced cars for years but not any more, seen Grand-kids jumping around the house makes my day! But I do remember our family tangs, 1965, 1966, 67, 71 Mach, had a lot of fun with them. today I drive a 2020 Tang, boosted, and teaching my Granddaughter to drive, she loves it and so do I!
Yes very true. Also, there are some people who doesnt really want to spend excessive money just to get the GT even if they can afford. There are couple reasons: 1) Some people doesnt really find the gt useful, imagine living in a city with traffic jams being a main problem, some people dont see the point of spending more money for the gt when the money could be used for something more useful to them. I live in a city and I see most mustangs here are ecoboosts, and I can actually understand that. 2) Expensive insurance 3) Expensive maintanence 4) Expensive road tax ( probably not all countries, but for mine yes) So yeah, main reason is due to the money savings, and also some people probably doesnt see the point of getting the gt.
The eco boost is like a Challenger R/T when it comes to pickup. The GT is over the top when it comes to pickup. It also sounds amazing and loves to rev. The GT will put you into jail speeds too easily though, especially on an on ramp.
Look..if you're above a certain age you are honestly just driving to work, getting groceries etc..i just bought my wife a 2023 race red ecoboost premium Convertible for her bday last week and IT'S PLENTY FAST, SOUNDS GREAT and VERY NICE!! We Get tons of compliments...we traded in her 2016 ruby red metallic ecoboost premium Convertible for the 2023, no money down low miles, still some life on the bumper to bumper and power train manufacturer warranty, good on gas, all for around $35K, you DO NOT need to spend the extra $ on a GT...
I just got a barely used 2020 GT Premium PP1 and i think with the current market, they could possibly be worth a bit more in a couple years when the production of V8s stops.
@@Jc50gt Not sure when but with fuel emission regulations tightening, I'm sure within the next 5-10 years the V8 will cease to exist in the Mustang GT...
I just bought the 22 GT Premium with the V8 with the thought will be more of a classic Mustang when the V8 are gone & won't be putting that many miles on it since I'm retire now and I also have a 1995 F-250 that I will drive more than the GT that will be more as a fun car driven in good weather. I did get the 10 speed auto, originally wanted the manual, I had a 14 base V6 with the manual but I was the only one that could drive it and my daughter was learning since I wanted to give her the car, but when she got was on a hill and it had a stop sign and had cars right behind her leaving little space between the car, she said she was not comfortable with driving it, and my old lady never drove a stick. My daughter probably keep the GT w/the auto when she inherits it w/low miles and from a old guy that didn't beat on it, and I may be thinking do I really want to be driving a manual as I get older. I have to say the GT Premium is a amazing car and I have no regrets with the auto. If you are young, maybe your first car going with the eco boost and a manual may be your best choice. My V6 manual was a fun car and good on gas. You may want to check insurance rates before buying a GT. When I was young many moons ago I bought a one year old used 1978 Chevrolet Camaro 350 4 barrel, I was shock that it was $2500 a year for insurance that was a lot of money back then, the car cost $6000. Only kept it for nine months because of the insurance cost and also paying insurance on a F-100 I needed for work. The difference in the ins. was only $30 a month which not much since the 14 Mustang is 8 years old and the GT is new. It pays to be a safe driver so try not to race your Mustang around to much & you will spend less on gas. There may be plenty of GT's that you can buy from old guys in the near future that didn't beat on the car so its a low milage GT that is in really good shape. Since these former GT owners now can only get around with their brand new GT walkers with a racing stripe down the side. Whatever one you buy, drive safe so you can enjoy your Mustang, remember its still a Mustang regardless what is under the hood.
Having one of each is definitely the best thing! Someday soon I may sell my house and downsize, if I do I might just go crazy and buy a GT since I have the EB now. I always appreciate a GT owner not bashing on the EB. Twice I’ve had someone in the GT next to me at a light really roar their engine, and felt like they were sort of letting me know they didn’t approve of my poor little four bang ‘Stang.
I have had my Ecoboost for 4 years now and if you ask me now which one I would go for I would definitely say go with the V8!!! Man those v8 sounds great.
Yea the gt is overall better but tbh the ecoboost does have benefits too. If you want to save more fuel, the ecoboost is the option. Also, the ecoboost could be more of a daily driver car. The GT could be fun due to the great v8 sound but the ecoboost feels lighter to drive. Also, if you own the gt, the cost of maintanence is generally more expensive and in some countries like mine, people who own the gt might suffer from more expensive road tax. So it really depends, I personally love the gt, but considering the place I live which is in a city, the ecoboost is more suitable for me. The GT could be little useless for me since traffic jam is a main problem here 😅.
I am from Denmark and just the co2 tax on the GT would be 850$ twice a year, as opposed to 300$ twice a year for the ecoboost. Then the insurance is vastly different, petrol is around 2$ per liter. A 2016 ecoboost costs around 43000$ against 2016 GT which is around 60000$, even the v6 from 2016 is still 55000$
The ecoboosts are not cheap cars either, then you also have to run premium fuel for it to run good while the v8 runs fine on 87. The exhaust sounds okay but nothing like the v8. Its a nice car and good for the money and even faster than the old gt’s. But you can get a used v8 for cheaper is not a bad option either. Im impressed with the 2.3’s reliability. I cant find any complaints on that motor.
The old 3 valve V8's and original 5.0 ran fine on 87 but I wouldn't suggest running 87 in the coyote unless it's the F150 version. On the Mustang it even says premium fuel only
Eco feels lifeless, it sounds awful, it’s only available in automatic, and if you want gas mileage get a CTR, N, or GR Corolla. I am not hating on the eco but it’s not the one for me which is why I got the S650 GT.
The 2.0 actually makes sense in the UK, because of the road. But there's always a slight thought that people will be judging me. The same goes to the Stinger. 2.0 sounds more reasonable than a v6..... but. There's a v6. You know?
I switched from the 5.0 to the 2.3 out of boredom. Modifying and tuning the 2.3 is more interesting and cheaper. My 2.3 went from 265 - 450 RWHP at the same price to get the 5.0 from 400 - 450 RWHP. The power band is also broader and the front end of the car lighter. Warning, don't skimp on the short block. Tuning the 2.3 can get you past 125hp per cylinder. That's a lot of pressure.
Someone on a Mustang form said the people who criticize and deride the Ecos the most have never owned or driven one. I think they’re both great cars, they’re just different.
Like everything else it’s either the V8 just running along or the Eco just remember you have to get on it on the Eco to have the power. V8 just plugs along or have the Eco and wind it out. Long run for me the V8 will go the distance with less issues. For me the only option is the 5.0 motor. Drove both and just could not accept the Ecoboost. Dealer was really pushing it hard and actually cutting down the 5.0. Just because that is all they had on their lot….. Went somewhere else and got a 5.0 GT. Love this car!
I have a 2020 Eco and you bring up a point that is worrying me, which is how will these turbo engines age. I somewhat regret not getting the GT and am actually thinking of trading the Eco. I’ve never driven a GT so need to go test drive a few. I have a feeling that may really change my mind.
Ford has been knocking out 4 banger turbos for years in Europe. US still hasn’t quite got behind the idea. Do the maintenance on it and don’t modify it to death, it’ll run and run.
Actually, ecoboost loose value faster then a gt. I had a 2019, i got for 30,000, had it for 3years sold it fot 27,000. Got me a 2023. More money to be made in a gt.
The cost of modding an eco boost to make GT power, just get a GT. Thousands in exhaust, turbo modifications, tuning, better intercoolers etc, you’re paying just as much a GT.
exactly. u can get 365-460whp on an eco. but the minute u past 380whp on an eco, ur in risky territory bc that engine WILL blow. upgrading to a new block, internals etc… just get a gt
Listen. If you're looking for a cool, slick, and quick car for a long distance pleasure road trip, EcoBoost is the way to go. Think about it, if you were to take a GT out of state to a far vacation spot, think about how many times you'll stop for gas compared to an EcoBoost. GT is cool if you're just wanting to cruise somewhere around your city on a weekend, but the Ecoboost you can take a good distance with good gas mileage and still feel cool. To me that's superior. Regarding engine noise, yeah a loud engine is cool, but here's how I see it. One's cleaner, one's dirtier, one's slick, one's obnoxious. Personally I like clean and slick sounding. Now there's nothing wrong with being loud with your car, but here's another way to get attention. Hot music. Especially with a convertible.
Some V8 are a little loud and obnoxious for me, and my Eco has the active exhaust so I think it sounds relatively respectable. I jokingly call it my gentlepony because it’s so well behaved and not loud or obnoxious.
This is an excellent video, but it doesn't acknowledge everything, like long range durability. Every mechanic on the planet will tell you that a larger naturally aspirated motor will outlast a small turbo engine. Basic science. If you can afford the GT, get the GT. You'll be glad you did when you hit 100k miles and the people you know with EcoBoost Mustangs spent a fortune replacing or repairing turbos. Also, EcoBoost mods to boost it can't compare with the mods you can do with a GT because the GT is starting off with more power at stock.
My ecoboost have 220k miles and going without issues. If you take proper care it will last long enough. The biggest issue is they are very easy to overheat if you loose or low on coolant.
Not being a jerk here, but I think you forgot to crop a piece of this video out at the beginning of “handling”. Otherwise great video! Thx for sharing!
im really debating on a Ecoboost or GT. cant decide. If i get an Ecoboost, im definitely going the mod/aftermarket route. new intake, new turbo, cams, boltons, new internals, exhaust, intercooler, new wheels, rims, maybe some exterior mods etc etc. If i get a GT, ill do maybe a supercharger, new intake, exhaust and thats about it. so im not reslly sure. i had a '21 Challenger GT (v6, bone stock, didnt even tint the windows) and i loved it, lots of fun but ended up totaling it so im in the market for a mustang now since i clearly cant afford a dodge🤣😭. so im really trying to decide if i get an ecoboost itll be my first 4cyl car, first mustang and first rwd car. if i get a GT itll be my first v8, first mustang and first rwd too. i do want to save on gas but i dont really mind spending all that money on gas even tho id prefer not to.
Maybe I can help shine a little light on helping you make a decision. I've owned 3 Mustangs: '94 3.8L V6, supercharged '03 4.6L V8, and just recently purchased my Premium 5.0L GT. If it's your 1st Mustang and you want the sound, power, and don't care about gas mileage get a V8. If you're concerned about gas and overall price but still want a decent amount of power, get a 2.3L EB. If you want a balance of both the 4 and 8 cylinders, get a 3.7L EB which will be essentially your V6. V8's are more costly depending on year and mileage, and you'll put in about $10-20k more if you want it fully loaded but they're sooo much fun lol! If you're gonna spend the extra money on modding an ecoboost...you might want to go ahead and upgrade. But either way, whatever you choose it's gonna be respected by other fellow mustang owners 😉! Just make sure you respect the pony itself.
I will say this.. Buy the GT, you wont second guess your decision. It will be pretty fast on day 1. And you wont constantly think about how to mod your Eco boost to be just like a GT. I was on the same boat as you, and im glad I got the GT. I already have a inline 4 engine on my daily vehicle, So getting into my v8 coyote feels more special when I take it out for the weekend. Gas milage is not bad on the GT. you could easily get 28mpg on 93 on the highway long trips.. ALL im saying is you dont want to have a shoulda woulda coulda type of answer when someone asks you why you got a ecoboost. Only reason to buy a Ecoboost is price.
Not sure if this is helpful anymore but I got bored of my ecoboost pretty quick in a year and a half or so. The sound is just incredibly boring to me. I even added a mbrp race exhaust to it and it helped but still wasn’t fully satisfying. At the end of the day no matter what you do it’s a 4 cylinder. The gas mileage was good but I mean if you’re buying a mustang then you should get the proper one. Measure it in smiler per gallon not miles per gallon :)
@@rsparth I almost settled on a getting the 3.7L EB but I knew I wouldn't be happy in my search for a 5.0. Yea...I cry a little inside whenever I have to fill up my tank running premium but I do smile driving off listening to its majestic roar 😏😌. Will you trade your EB for a 5.0?
Great mustang but I prefer my 2015 mustang gt premium I had a EcoBoost but traded that car in yr correct it's great on gas an insurance. I should of kept it but I'm moving up to a shelby gt500. Well yr right brother I decided to get out of my gt mustang premium go back to a EcoBoost I'm getting a 2022 mustang EcoBoost premium lower my payments an gas since I'm getting older it's time to step down from a gt
Genuinely curious, but to those who says "Get a GT since replacing the parts would've cost you the same" bro does road tax exist in your country? Like, I mean annual taxes and things?
The Gen 3 Coyote is best motor ford ever put out paired with that 10 speed automatic. You can beat on that set up and it will take it and ask for more horsepower. You beat on an eco good luck. Every turbo set up ford has put out has had issues with overheating, gasket leaks, cylinder issues especially if you try to upgrade.
Agreed and good point. The Coyote V8 motor is rock solid stock or modified. It's incredible how many RPM's they turn and the amount of stock HP they make.
So is a Ecoboost garbage? I just recently got a 2016 Mustang Ecoboost. I’m not sure wether people will be judging me because it may not meet the best expectation, but it is a nice vehicle. But is it worth keeping? I want it to pull and really have them horses racing
Hey I’m genuinely curious to know your thoughts on this 4 months later. I just rented an eco boost and didn’t mind the stigma as much as I thought, but I’ve never driven a GT. Still had such a blast in the eco boost
I've had both. Currently still have my GT. ecoboost looks like you're in a sports car, but feels and sounds like you're in your girlfriends camry. Do you want to be in a mustang? or just look like you're in a mustang?
Bought an Ecoboost with preformance pkg. Somewhat regretted it. First off if you think the gas mileage is better think again because its not that good at all and not much better than the GT. There is no way he got that mileage on that ecoboost. The best I ever got on the highway was maybe 24-25 mpg. Don't get me wrong the ecoboost is a fine car if you just want a nice car but if your an enthusiast and you think I'll just do after market upgrades than whats the point in that? With the extra money your going to spend just get a GT. Oh and I don't care what exhaust you put on the ecoboost its still not going to sound anything like a GT. Anyway I, like the reviewer had both and was never quite happy with the ecoboost so went back to the GT. The reviewer did a great job and I agree with everthing he said except I'm not sure where that 30-40 mpg came from as I never got close to that on my ecoboost. My understanding on the ecoboost is that the eco is more for it being better on the environment and not so much the mileage. Overall nice review.
That’s a very important consideration, and I saw a video about it. If you’re a true gearhead/enthusiast I don’t think the Ecoboost will satisfy. I’m just someone who wants to drive a car with history and which doesn’t look like every single other car on the road, so although I know the limitations of the Eco, so far it’s satisfied me. But now I’m thinking of trading it for a GT because I think the V8 will age better. I don’t abuse the car but do worry about all the stress on that little turbo charged engine.
After having 2 v6 mustangs it’s finally great to have a v8 mustang.. nobody clowns on me or makes fun of me anymore for not having a v8 mustang 😅 could never go to a 4cylinder
5 reasons NOT to buy an ecoboost 1) People will think you couldn't afford the GT 2) It sounds like a Focus, not a Mustang 3) People will think you've borrowed your girlfriend/wifes/moms car 4) You'll get smoked at the lights by old people in Honda's 5) GT drivers will flip you the bird as they fly past you there are many other reasons too but these 5 are noteworthy.
I think this is the finalizing video for me I am gunning for a used Mustang Eco boost, it is a good all rounder in terms of power, cost, and gas range I understand the percetion of GT being the ultimate car and so on, but heck, in 2024, everything is so damn expensive now The minimum wage increase across fast food joints in CA has forced a lot of people including me to think twice about where we are putting our money Seeing people just fork over hundreds or close to a thousand bucks for a new car every month is illogical From the way I see it, the Eco Boost is perfect for the long term because at the end of the week, the purpose of a car is still to get you from point A to point B
Have a v6 mt82 and i hate the trans so much the high rpm lockout gets me so much even with a aftermarket clutch and flywheel and clutch line i was thinking about selling and getting a eco boost mt82 but i feel like it might be the same
Here's the thing, when there's 10 speed Ecos that have NX2 Full E85 beat FBO E85 Gen 3 it's insane. I beat stock GTs in my E30 bolt on stock Turbo in the 1/8th, 1/4 is when they start pulling but even then sometimes it's too late. I can also brake boost from rolls and get a fat hit and can't catch up. All while getting 24+ mpg
Well, what do you do going against a GT that has all that stuff? You get destroyed. The GT has a lot more to work with to start out so mod for mod it will kick your ass. Keep your 24 mpg. We don't care. It's not why we own these cars. Anybody can beat anybody with the right mods so all you people bragging about beating "stock" GTs, SSs, and Scats sound like idiots. I used to have a 2014 V6 and loved it. I modded it so it was considerably quicker than stock, but I never bragged about it like a lot of knuckleheads brag about their "modded" EcoBoosts. SMH.
@@thullraven1 your full bolt on V6 ain't touching my eco. What's crazy is I spent 2K and I can beat 10 speed 5.0 premium that cost 50-60K. I'm not even full bolt on, once I get NX2 any fbo 5.0 E85 can get the smoke. Your mod for mod bullshit doesn't apply when it's 4 banger turbo vs NA. The way I do the V6 FBO is 🤣 get out of here if you don't even know about the eco platform. Full E85 NX2 can push 450-500wheel 440-460 WTQ foh
@@novadasavage Still bragging with your Eco. I know all about the different platforms. I said I HAD a V6 so you apparently missed that. I traded in the V6 in 2018 for a new 2018 GT, which is only slightly modded. I push out just over 500 hp. I don't go crazy modding my daily drivers. I have access to a Ferrari 488 when I need a track day. Your 2k price spent in mods is a solid point. People with cars that cost significantly more than yours shouldn't be bragging about beating yours. Different price points. It's like weight divisions in boxing and MMA. I get the same crap with people bragging on how their 80k car can beat my $32k ride (which is what I paid in 2018). You have impressive numbers for an Eco, but if you think you'll compete with the mods that can go on a GT or higher you've lost your mind. There's more to work with in a base GT compared to a base Eco. Bigger engine. It's basic science. All the engineers, scientists, and mechanics will tell you the same. It doesn't matter if you agree or not. Facts matter, not your opinion. My friend has a custom tuned twin turbo GT that pushes out 1000 hp but he doesn't brag about it like you brag about your Eco. Enjoy your Eco and keep up the maintenance so it can last!
@@thullraven1 it's so stupid when people say "WEll PuT thE SaMe MoDs iN thE GT" you realize we are talking about comparable value and money right? Why not just get a GT500 then? People never will make sense

I got the GT, I think I would miss the sound, rumble, big quad exhaust and looks with the PP1. Power wise I could live with the Ecoboost but it's everything else. It seems like a LOT of people who get an Eco end up trading it on a GT anyway, can't save money that way.
@@QuinLIVE lmao....i've had 4 bangers in the past, and even put mufflers/ after-market exhaust systems on them, but to be honest, i'd just go with a standard n/a v6 because the sound of all 4 bangers aside from Subaru's and evo's make me 🤮...the sound of the ecoboost would be unbearable and since i'm a person who likes adding bolt ons which ='s more sound usually, the 5.0 is my only option...the sound of a 4 cylinder alone would make owning one impossible for my sake....i had a gli that i just got tired of listening too, so i went head and sold it and now in the market for either an SS, GT, or a 392....
@@GhostRider-tf8xv That's only in the case of the v6 being the largest displacement engine offered for a particular vehicle...for example, with a 370z, i'd of course have to settle for the 3.7 since it''s the only engine available but in the case of something like a mustang or charger, it would be 5.0 for the stang, and the 6.4 for the charger, no if ands or buts...of course, no hate against 4 bangers at all and i'm sure a forced induction backed i4 will have trillions more of the potential than any standard naturally aspired/all motor v6 or 4 banger has to offer...but, after owning a mk6 GLI, i've just found it hard to make 4 cylinders sound good even with expensive exhaust setups like HKS and ARK when i had a 2.0 tiburon...im a full bolt on/tune type of guy whose into squeezing all of the possible performance something on 4 wheels has to offer, but if i cannot bear the way something sounds, there's no way i can move past step 1 unless i keep everything stock and just have my vehicle tuned only and maybe an aftermarket intake but based on my own personal experience, more open/larger diameter exhaust setups work wonders in terms of response times in nearly all of the vehicles i've owned...even my GLI was close to .5-.7 of a second quicker with a single HKS muffler alone, then i went with a full 3" pipe from the resonator back to add insult to injury but hated the way it sounded...sound is the number one pet peeve for me, but it's a to each is own type of ordeal...if i had the extra $$$$$ to have some custom made UEL headers made before purchase, i would probably contemplate the Hyundai Elantra N, but that's about it really but still, not a fan of the buzzy exhaust notes produced by a turbo 4 cylinder regardless of how "fast" they are with simple 123 modifications...
Everytime I pass an eco boost or a v6 mustang i always say.....soo sad lol. Save the extra money and get a 5.0 its worth it. I had a 2016 v6 and theres no comparison to my 2020 5.0
If you are broke, think about gas prices, or don’t know how to maintain a car and drive it correctly, just don’t look at sport cars. Stay in your corollas.
Can the ecoboost actually go 200kmh?

Does the 4cyl run over pedestrians as fast as the V8?
On the contrary ,that v8 rumble heralds it's arrival before even it gets there so the pedestrians will dodge it easily. But a 4cylinder vacuum cleaner will get them discreetly.

How did you manage to get 37k car for 27k, that’s huge discount
@@vikramreddy676 does for usually do big discounts
Could never buy a new car and already talk about regretting it. It’s a car payment. I say spend the money where you’ll get the most smiles.
I get 14-19 mpg depending on how far i drive.,
I considered buying an Ecco boost premium but i can't deal with the stigma and the lack of power of the 4 banger.
If you drive it like a Ford Fusion, the gas mileage improves, but 😴 💤
The EcoBoost is cheaper to buy and maintain.
What about over the V6 Mustang?
Dude, you're basically the same as me. We did completely ridiculous things with 200HP years ago. I just don't need 500HP to be stupid.
I mean dude 310 is still good. And you can use your mustang eco as your all year car.
I need one 😂
Sounds great. I do regret not getting the Ecoboost high-performance, but I bought one of two 2020s on the lot in 2021 at a deep discount, so let practicality carry the day. Mine does have Ford active exhaust which helps a little bit, and I like the look of the quad pipes, but I’m sure it doesn’t sound any thing as good as what you have set up.
You can add all those mods and it will still sound like a eco. Watch my GT borla atak cold start video
@@Three_Days_Of_Solitude yep, and be faster, cheaper to own, and STILL look as good…
@@ST_DCT Bro when you calculate all those tunes and whatnot to make it comparably fast as 5.0...you might realize you spend spend more money than just driving regular 5.0.
Ecoboom usually occurs because of pre-detonation. This is prevented by staying in the higher rpm range when passing or rapid acceleration.
Solid points. But honestly, i don't ever see myself regreting buying the GT over the Ecoboost. Like ever. 💯
Thanks for the video, none of these reasons would persuade me away from the GT
Ikr. 💯
There should be only one reason to get a eco over a GT....money savings.
Yes very true. Also, there are some people who doesnt really want to spend excessive money just to get the GT even if they can afford. There are couple reasons:
1) Some people doesnt really find the gt useful, imagine living in a city with traffic jams being a main problem, some people dont see the point of spending more money for the gt when the money could be used for something more useful to them. I live in a city and I see most mustangs here are ecoboosts, and I can actually understand that.
2) Expensive insurance
3) Expensive maintanence
4) Expensive road tax ( probably not all countries, but for mine yes)
So yeah, main reason is due to the money savings, and also some people probably doesnt see the point of getting the gt.
I've seen some good deals For Gts For 35k Like 2022s my Budget only 25 so Ecoboost it is🤷🏿♂️ I Seen A brand new 2024 for 33k
I just got a barely used 2020 GT Premium PP1 and i think with the current market, they could possibly be worth a bit more in a couple years when the production of V8s stops.
That is something I have thought about too! Will V8's go up in value when they're discontinued.. 🤔
Ford is going to stop making V8’s for the Mustangs?? I want to get one in a year or two. When are they going to stop production?

I have both and love them I drive the ecoboost everyday and get more love than the gt but I think it's because of the color but again both are sweet
What color?
@@R32-e7q Why not just get a daily....
its a amazing car, it has looks, decent power, decent interior, some nice features and right price tag. Also nice history. I love mine.
At the beginning of the video dude said I have the GT to and I'll never go back to an Ecoboost...
As a former Ecoboost owner and current GT owner... GT all day, every day. It's what a Mustang is supposed to be.
definitely going for the eco due to the fact that i work 35 miles away :( but once i relocate upgrading to the gt
AMIGOS, GO WITH THE EIGHT! IT'S A BEAST!!! I OWN ONE; WELL WORTH THE THRILL... PRICELESS.
Lol sure you swapped from a 5.0 to 2.3 sure. Sounds to me your just defending the eco trash lol
@@douglasalexis93 Ecos are definitely not trash lol
@@douglasalexis93 have you ever even been in a ecoboost?
Someone on a Mustang form said the people who criticize and deride the Ecos the most have never owned or driven one. I think they’re both great cars, they’re just different.
I doubt it. He probably drives a 20 year old civic like all the other online experts!
So many ways to say better mpg, and still a fun ride.
I imagine in winter time the 4 banger will be lighter on the nose and handles better in the snow also.
I got the 2.3t. Im getting 31mpg on highway going at 68-75mph. Ecoboost is worth it
The cost of modding an eco boost to make GT power, just get a GT.
Thousands in exhaust, turbo modifications, tuning, better intercoolers etc, you’re paying just as much a GT.
No I payed 23k for my car and around 4k for the mods 26k in total the gt would be around 36k
exactly. u can get 365-460whp on an eco. but the minute u past 380whp on an eco, ur in risky territory bc that engine WILL blow. upgrading to a new block, internals etc… just get a gt

@@oluskloc Yours is the exception, not the rule. Look it up and see for yourself.
The ecoboost is awesome, but nothing compares to a V8.

If i get a GT, ill do maybe a supercharger, new intake, exhaust and thats about it.
so im not reslly sure. i had a '21 Challenger GT (v6, bone stock, didnt even tint the windows) and i loved it, lots of fun but ended up totaling it so im in the market for a mustang now since i clearly cant afford a dodge🤣😭. so im really trying to decide
if i get an ecoboost itll be my first 4cyl car, first mustang and first rwd car.
if i get a GT itll be my first v8, first mustang and first rwd too.
i do want to save on gas but i dont really mind spending all that money on gas even tho id prefer not to.
Only reason to buy a Ecoboost is price.
get the gt
Not sure if this is helpful anymore but I got bored of my ecoboost pretty quick in a year and a half or so. The sound is just incredibly boring to me. I even added a mbrp race exhaust to it and it helped but still wasn’t fully satisfying. At the end of the day no matter what you do it’s a 4 cylinder. The gas mileage was good but I mean if you’re buying a mustang then you should get the proper one. Measure it in smiler per gallon not miles per gallon :)

I was so set on getting a GT after my 2014 v6, but turbo spooling and psssh psssh noises just sold me on the eco. Ended up snagging a 2020 10 spd.

What are the key differences among 2016-ish and 2019-2020 Ecoboost mustangs ?
10 speed trans on 2018+ instead of 6 speed for 2015-17
Bought an Ecoboost with preformance pkg.
You're nuts. A GT is a beast, if you're worried about fuel mileage, stick with a Prius and leave the muscle cars to the grown ups.
After having 2 v6 mustangs it’s finally great to have a v8 mustang.. nobody clowns on me or makes fun of me anymore for not having a v8 mustang 😅 could never go to a 4cylinder
But the 2018 4 cylinder makes more HP than the 2010 GT...So what's the shame?
@@max_rove I could have said the same thing when I had my 2014 v6 mustang that had 305 hp stock.. that it had more power than a 2009 GT
5 reasons NOT to buy an ecoboost
1) People will think you couldn't afford the GT
2) It sounds like a Focus, not a Mustang
3) People will think you've borrowed your girlfriend/wifes/moms car
4) You'll get smoked at the lights by old people in Honda's
5) GT drivers will flip you the bird as they fly past you
there are many other reasons too but these 5 are noteworthy.
I think this is the finalizing video for me
I am gunning for a used Mustang Eco boost, it is a good all rounder in terms of power, cost, and gas range
I understand the percetion of GT being the ultimate car and so on, but heck, in 2024, everything is so damn expensive now
The minimum wage increase across fast food joints in CA has forced a lot of people including me to think twice about where we are putting our money
Seeing people just fork over hundreds or close to a thousand bucks for a new car every month is illogical
From the way I see it, the Eco Boost is perfect for the long term because at the end of the week, the purpose of a car is still to get you from point A to point B
Are you really worried about fuel economy if you're stotting about in a 5.0L American V8?

@@thullraven1 yeah a GT has more potential. I agree with what you said 👍
@@thullraven1 it's so stupid when people say "WEll PuT thE SaMe MoDs iN thE GT" you realize we are talking about comparable value and money right? You put all that in the eco and you're still cheaper or as much as spent on a GT. Obviously if you put the same amount into a GT it will still be faster but then you spent how much. Why not just get a GT500 then? People never will make sense
The main reason I got a ecoboost was because the Insurance was going to be double with the GT.
How much is the difference and how much you pay for eco boost insurance, I’m planning on to buy either one?
get a gt yall. i had a fbo eco & all the money i put to it to *hopefully* beat a STOCK GT just isn’t worth it. u don’t hop in a sports/muscle car thinking about gas mileage. bc if that’s ur concern, u shouldn’t hop in one. i loved my fbo eco but it just doesn’t compare to my gt
Hopefully the 2.3 EcoBoost doesn't have the notorious problems that the 1.5 to the 2.0 EcoBoosts have with overheating and coolant issues.
They do that's why the hpp has bigger intercooler. At that price you're better off with a mustang gt but only real drivers can handle the hp.
Just turned 20 GT? Or EcoBoost?
I wanna go for the Ecoboost. But ecoboom makes me crazy. I didn't find further info about that, since stock Ecoboost s even blow the engine.....
I got the GT, I think I would miss the sound, rumble, big quad exhaust and looks with the PP1. Power wise I could live with the Ecoboost but it's everything else.
It seems like a LOT of people who get an Eco end up trading it on a GT anyway, can't save money that way.
Ecoboost??Is the transmission rough? Before stop sign when stopping putting low gear and i hear scratching, grinding?
With Gas prices on the rise .... Ecoboost is the no brainer as of right now.
If you’re concerned about gas get a Camry or something actually gas efficient not a V6 pony car… 😂
@@notimezforgames1465 Why would you want the V6 when it’s slower
@@GhostRider-tf8xv That's only in the case of the v6 being the largest displacement engine offered for a particular vehicle...for example, with a 370z, i'd of course have to settle for the 3.7 since it''s the only engine available but in the case of something like a mustang or charger, it would be 5.0 for the stang, and the 6.4 for the charger, no if ands or buts...of course, no hate against 4 bangers at all and i'm sure a forced induction backed i4 will have trillions more of the potential than any standard naturally aspired/all motor v6 or 4 banger has to offer...but, after owning a mk6 GLI, i've just found it hard to make 4 cylinders sound good even with expensive exhaust setups like HKS and ARK when i had a 2.0 tiburon...im a full bolt on/tune type of guy whose into squeezing all of the possible performance something on 4 wheels has to offer, but if i cannot bear the way something sounds, there's no way i can move past step 1 unless i keep everything stock and just have my vehicle tuned only and maybe an aftermarket intake but based on my own personal experience, more open/larger diameter exhaust setups work wonders in terms of response times in nearly all of the vehicles i've owned...even my GLI was close to .5-.7 of a second quicker with a single HKS muffler alone, then i went with a full 3" pipe from the resonator back to add insult to injury but hated the way it sounded...sound is the number one pet peeve for me, but it's a to each is own type of ordeal...if i had the extra $$$$$ to have some custom made UEL headers made before purchase, i would probably contemplate the Hyundai Elantra N, but that's about it really but still, not a fan of the buzzy exhaust notes produced by a turbo 4 cylinder regardless of how "fast" they are with simple 123 modifications...
s550 ecoboost all the way.
Great review thank u!
Thanks for watching!
This is like saying instead of using a rifle, use a slingshot.
How does the base Mustang compare to the Chevy Camaro overall in the base model four cylinder engines?
Get Gt. Sounds better looks better Higher redline more power more torque. Take your tires off your car immediately! Buy a GT.
Is ecoboom still a thing ?
Everytime I pass an eco boost or a v6 mustang i always say.....soo sad lol. Save the extra money and get a 5.0 its worth it. I had a 2016 v6 and theres no comparison to my 2020 5.0
A 4 cyl. putting out 315ph is a recipe for disaster. I'll take a V6 or 8.
If you are broke, think about gas prices, or don’t know how to maintain a car and drive it correctly, just don’t look at sport cars. Stay in your corollas.
