    Taking ashwagandha makes me incredibly sleepy, so I’m going to opt for a nightly dose instead of the 2x’s a day that I’ve been doing. I seem to reap all the other benefits from it, but it just makes me sleepy!!

    Ttc for 4 months, anxiety peaks sometimes. Thinking of taking ashwagandha! Is dat preferable? Or any other substitutes are there?

    I took a liquid capsule last night from Gaia herbs. It says to take one two times a day. Do you recommend just taking one a day for sleep? I took one at night and there is 300 mg in one capsule. Thanks so much! I’m a new subscriber!😍

      Hi Mia! Most studies have found that about 600mg is optimal, but that can vary between individuals. A good rule of thumb is to go low and slow with supplements and notice how they affect mood and sleep. Hope that helps!

    Ashwagandha seems to be working for me. I paired it with the antidepressant that I'm taking , and they seem to be having a positive effect on my sleep issues.

    Hi Dr your videos are wonderful!
    Do you think this could help with maintenance insomnia? I can fall asleep but wake after 4 hours.
    Im 52 and was seen by a sleep dr, and he just said insomnia comes and goes, take one of the Z drugs.
    I would love to try something natural

      Thanks Michael! Ashwagandha can indeed help with sleep maintenance insomnia, especially if there is underlying stress. It's a good idea to make sure it won't interact with other meds or supplements one might be taking, but it can be a great alternative to Z drugs for many folks. Hope that helps!

    Would Ashwagandha interact with Buspirone if I take them at opposite times of day?

      Great question. Ashwagandha can increase the sedative effects of certain medications. There still may be interactions even if taken at different times of the day. A good rule of thumb is to start low, go slow, and monitor one's response carefully to assess for herb-drug interactions.

      From what I’ve seen a lot of doctors and herbalists are saying to not take ashawaganda if you are diabetic bc it can interfere with any medication you take for diabetes. If you have access to a GD I would talk with them.

    Iam taking raw root poweder of ashwagandha approx 6gms.
    Is it ok we can take it in this form and qty?

      Hi Adnan, the root extract is thought to be the most effective form of ashwagandha, and it is effective as a powder. Doses are usually around 250-1000mg daily, so a 6g dose (6000mg) might be a bit high, depending on one's individual needs. It would be good to talk to your physician to determine the appropriate dose for your situation. Hope that helps!

    The only problem with Ashwagandha is that you sleep a lot when you take it.
