this is a very emotional song that means alot to me. even though it was meant to communicate the feeling of loss and dissapearence, kidnap, i just get a different vibe. brings me back to certain moments in my life i hope i never forget.
It don't matter, man! Do fucking hear that voice?! Dam! This band is soo amazing! they're music actually give s me the chills & makes me feel high... if you just lay & listen...it'll take you on a crazy trip....My mind becomes so out of worldly, so zoned...into a land of imagination...they have such a mystery to they're music! & the music is insanely enhanced when loud, and add extra Bass...Oh, fuck yeah!
Their genius does not lie in their polyrhythms and complexity. It manifests itself in many forms, but most of all in melody. Still no one comes close to music like this. I can see why you might not like it; the aural assault that was BIG was not particularly to my taste. Hopefully we will all discover the genius of Octahedron.
Man these guys just blow my mind at every turn. with the crap that is released regularlly by rock/metal band has been so sophmorish. The Mars Volta is a gift of beauty and melody with skilled players. Looking forward to seeing them next wednesday at the HOuse of Blues in Boston!!! They will rock the house
What a haunting and awesome song!!! TMV kills!!!! I can't get enough of this new album!!! Its the best since deloused and all there other albums are great to say the least!!!
They did tour with Tool and I got to see it in Salt Lake City! One of the best shows I have ever gone to! The Mars Volta and Tool together Just plan insanity!!!
I know this comment is 10 years old but I’m pretty sure they toured with a perfect circle and not tool. I went to that concert and how I was introduced to the Mars Volta.
Ive seen TMV live twice now. the first time i ever heard/saw them live was when they opened for system of a down. This band is simply fucking amazing and melts your face off live.
with this song I say that they use a sound that used to annoy me and they use it to kick my asss and blow my mind. I play this everyday. the first time I heard this at the record store with the headphones I said It sucked. THe internet let me play it over and over agian and now I have to buy my fourth mars volta CD. I still have to get frances the mute too. No one sounds like this at all. AWSOME STUFF !!!
love the mars volta. this albums so different to the others. love the digital beat that breaks in halfway on this tune. been looking for anything else thats similar, though i doubt i'll find it. mars are just too good
this album it's more accoustic but it's amazing and much better than the others albums, bealive me i have all the mars volta albums and no one of the rest it's more amazing n than this! bealives me my friend! PEACE!!
Tilt your head back in a chair, or Lie outside stoned out of your mind with love beside you and portable speakers playing this song softly while glazing the starry night making your mind wonder. ...........5 minutes later. thump thump thump lol.
es como si en una licuadora hubieran metido a zeppelin, morrison, floyd y la hubieran encendido!!! buenisima cancion, estos sujetos no dejan de maravillarme
@PuReNiRvANA1 Well, he just treats his voice like a guitar with effects pedals and everything. Infact, he uses guitar pedals hooked up to a mic off to the side. He sings everything live, and I know this, because I've watched them live. Check out the song "Sarcophagi" if you want to hear a great example of his voice. He just uses reverb and stuff on some songs much like Pink Floyd would on songs like "Careful With That Axe Eugene". I suggest "De-Loused In The Comatorium" if you're to TMV.
@PuReNiRvANA1 I've never seen them live so I'm not completely sure but I do know from live videos he uses some chorus effect on his voice. Not sure if this is what you are referring to? Besides a lot of singers fine tune their voices in the studio and a lot do during live performances as well. Anyways I'm fairly sure cedric doesn't auto-tune his voice live.
These guys were the cutting edge for the new millennium. Great band, I hope they outdo themselves and change music again with another "De-Loused." But if they do this kind of stuff for the rest of their career, I won't be upset LOL :)
I LOVE THIS DAMNED SONG. I got the album 2 days ago and am addicted to this song. It sounds like a kidnapping or something im guessing a lil girl cause they say they poke the doll? :\ lol
TMV LIVE ruined every concert before and after that show for me. They came on with no opener and played for 3 straight hours. No breaks. Just one long jam. INSANE
@Stardestroya most definitely. mars volta are torn between led zeppelin, king crimson and in the end themselves since they don't copy they integrate past into their work.
@PuReNiRvANA1 totally disagree. Cedric is an amazing singer. His vocal range stretches about 4 octaves I think. Plus he may not play instruments in tmv but he does play guitar and drums as well.
@Stardestroya: The way that they are most similar to Led Zeppelin is innovation. It is certainly true that the high soaring vocals and punishing guitar recall Plant and Page; much like the obscure and sometimes convoluted lyrics remind one of the same obscurity and pretentiousness that "prog" rock has often dealt with. However, the genius of both Mars Volta and Led Zeppelin is that they have no predecessors. Sure they have influences, but the results they created are truly unique.
OMG! same here lol i heard it and im like whats all this slow crap? :\ i thought they made a fast album for quick bucks... but then slowlt it just became awesome now im addicted lol.
@17Revolution76 i think its anti Illuminati. or at least mocking them. i dont know that much about symbology though. itd be interesting to study that more

"over my dead body, over the search they lead"... that part literally melts me.
Chilling.Beauty.Eloquent.Reminescent.Brilliant.

Ooh, I think I heard Björk-esque beats near the end of the song, me likey!
someone knows the name of this rythm synth used at 3:50 ?
they get better every album
esta cancion hace sentir que vuelo. saludos
haha. totally. that's the way it's been with every volta album for me since amputechture
I think I like TMV's ballads even more than their face-melting explosions of noise and mexican fury.
Es la mejor cancion del album ...para mi-....muy buena ... calmada pero la lirica es muy fuerte y oscura
Drum machines and eerie guitars work very well together, apparently.
I'm glad they do. TMV r00l.
hahaha, my dad actually introduced this band to me. I have some strangely cool parents though.
awsome cant wait till they come to Nz!
Indeed.

Beautiful over ''normal'' ... Takes my breath away and makes me feel deeply ...
I heard that song by AT THE DRIVE IN. It is sad to see whats in the song vid... i bet its non stop newspaper stories where you live?
well said.
The mars volta are a new music genre (Y)
These guys were the cutting edge for the new millennium. Great band, I hope they outdo themselves and change music again with another "De-Loused." But if they do this kind of stuff for the rest of their career, I won't be upset LOL :)
Oh, I didn't see that. They're not in TMV anymore? 0_0 That sucks for them.
I LOVE THIS DAMNED SONG. I got the album 2 days ago and am addicted to this song. It sounds like a kidnapping or something im guessing a lil girl cause they say they poke the doll? :\ lol
@Stardestroya agreed. i thought the same thing when i first heard this album.
@Sehv13 hahaha you´re right, first time i saw them was de facto (sigh) such great days :3
@FlyingFuckstorm ha ha is just brillant the way this "girls" make their music!
sounds like BEE GEES!! how deep is your love
Cedric was born in Redwood City, California, raised in El paso Texas, Mexican parents BIATCH
I said the same thing when I heard Justin Bieber for the first time. Sans the "I actually like this" part.
There's a link to a zipped file somewhere in The Comatorium. Just Google seatch "mars volta font" and it should lead you there.
TMV LIVE ruined every concert before and after that show for me. They came on with no opener and played for 3 straight hours. No breaks. Just one long jam. INSANE

I was answering someone's question about why Adrian and Paul aren't in the band anymore...
Ohh thanks :D
@Kkrouton Check out their first two albums.
@Stardestroya
most definitely. mars volta are torn between led zeppelin, king crimson and in the end themselves since they don't copy they integrate past into their work.
i think he's using a vocoder-harmony light effect with double light at the end
@PuReNiRvANA1 totally disagree. Cedric is an amazing singer. His vocal range stretches about 4 octaves I think. Plus he may not play instruments in tmv but he does play guitar and drums as well.
woohoooo tomorrow!!

@17Revolution76 i think its anti Illuminati. or at least mocking them. i dont know that much about symbology though. itd be interesting to study that more
damn.
Whats voice effect is he using the beginning of this song?
Is it a light vocoder or harmony effect?
where did you get that typography of TMV?
Can you tell me please? :D
How come this version is longer?
I might have to check out this album. I thought the Bedlam in Goliath was just too erratic for me to give a crap about.
and people said thomas didn't know when to settle down.
where can i get these pictures//
@thirdeyeblind3 Yeah, shows a knife going through the all seeing eye. Made me laugh.
